The Vault in South Lakeland

Think I went in with the perception that this was a speak easy style cocktail bar. This is not, its an ok bar that has some tacky décor to look like one. The cocktails we got were both hit and a miss. With my partners cocktail being quite nice and really drinkable. But the Manhattan I got was not what I would call a Manhattan(wrong glass type , ice and lemon instead of a maraschino cherry). Was expecting so much from this place but got better cocktails down the road at a better price/atmosphere.

Tequila sunrise are amazing! The owner Tommy is so professional and nothing is too much trouble!

This is a hidden gem, right in the centre of Ambleside, it used to be a bank but now converted into a cocktail and food bar, very nice cheese platers and amazing cocktails, staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was great for a night out!

Cocktails while very nice, pina colada, advert says 2 for £14 monday to friday, we went in Friday happy hour, were told cocktail offer was Monday to Thursday, bit disappointed so just had the one.

I called in on my last day in Ambleside as there was like music on and it was fantastic I will definitely be back. There was a solo female singer that blew me away, I would say she was the best I've ever seen live 💙

Lovely cocktails try the strawberry daquiri and the sex on the beach, some fella suggested a pineapple gin one that tasted like the inside of a petrol tank it was heavyyyy, it was good though! Good place with a good atmosphere and the locals are friendly :) had a good time!

Came in for a drink after our evening meal. Impeccably clean and lovely atmosphere. The cocktail menu was well thought out with classics and new ideas. Staff were friendly and the singer, Evie, was amazing. Wonderful place to end your night, would definitely recommend.

Amazing place! Great drinks. I did not have food but it looked amazing, will definitely try some next time. For anyone like me who tends to look at reviews before coming, I advise you look at the low reviews on this place because the owners reply show the truths of their situation. I will 100% come back. I'll be honest the prices are 50p more than other places but the work that has gone into this establishment are worth it! Not to mention location, service, quality and atmosphere.

Great cocktails and tunes! First through the door and got the legendary round table by the window. The Picante cocktail will blow your head off 🤯

Visited about 4 till 6, Great service, bartender took each order/payment then brought all the cocktails for the group at once, make the group experience much better as we didn't have to individually stand at the bar just order go to the table to carry on the conversation

Can't really comment on the food or drinks, says you are open until 11pm yet you are locked up at 9:30..... If you are meant to be open then you should be!!

I live in Ambleside, and the guys who run The Vault are lovely. Such a great selection of drinks, with so much passion going into each drink. Really recommend their Long Island Ice Tea and Espresso Martini. Great garnishing, taste, good vibes. Come check it out!!!

Amazing cocktails!! Best strawberry daiquiri we’ve ever had and pina colada was also top tier. Staff also soooo lovely and kind. Would recommend to anyone, not to be missed if in the Lake District! Miles ahead of anything else offered in Ambleside - 15/10

Great choice of cocktails, if you need help on deciding it's no problem. For food, we had a vegetarian platter, spicy chicken and calamari to eat, all really good.

Visited The Vault on a quite Monday evening. Not serving food that day but the cocktails were spot on. They have a wide variety of drinks so there’s sure to be something for everyone on there. Plus absolutely stunning table in the window.

Having visited the Windermere Speakeasy last year, and enjoyed it, we saw this one had opened so thought we'd give it a try. Friendly staff. Really enjoyed the cocktails and the dirty fries, so wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Lovely visit whilst in Ambleside, had a couple of cocktails and they were delicious! Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great music. Such a lovely addition to Ambleside.

Managed to get one of the tables outside on a lovely Saturday evening. The 2 guys serving / behind the bar couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We went for a selection of the smaller plates of food and enjoyed everything, all freshly made and good quality, good portion sides. Cocktails thoroughly sampled and very much enjoyed. Highly recommend.

We have passing by and saw it open. Went in out of sheer curiosity and it didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and the food was really good. Drinks were fast and well presented and definitely I have not seen any bugs around. We will be back again!

We went into the vault for cocktails, saw the waiter serving some delicious food. Realise that they do the tapas and let me tell you it’s the best around ambleside. Some lovely food washed down with very nice cocktails, will be coming back and highly recommend to anyone.. Staff are very friendly and polite

I would not go back there ever again for food or drinks the staff our rude and I am sure I had seen a cockroach running along the floor which pit me off eating there its so over priced beware if you go there I did complain and was told I was seeing things I don't think so please stay away there's better places in Ambleside.

Fab drinks, fab vegetarian options, fab menu, fab service! Would recommend the Dr. Pepper cocktail and Halloumi burger. So glad we visited here instead of the local pubs, there was music, amazing cocktails and was a great vibe for us youth who want to stay cool🤪🤪 Thank you!!

We had Pina Coladas and a sharing board with Italian Meats, cheese, crackers, bread, olives etc and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was great , would definitely go back again

Okay drinks, not great service and not great value for money

Fantastic place for food and cocktails, I cannot recommend this place enough. The extensive cocktail menu includes all the usual suspects as well as a large number of signature options, all of which (that we tried - and we did make a concerted effort to try as many as possible) were delicious, well made and packing an appropriate punch. The food we had was sharing/finger food of which there were many choices, again all delicious. We were a mixture of vegetarians and non-vegetarians and both found plenty on the menu to suit. Stand-out dishes included the halloumi, spring rolls and the freshly baked bread. The Vault had only been open a few weeks when we visited and I sincerely hope it proves a success as it provides something refreshing and exciting in the centre of Ambleside.

We loved our visit to The Vault. The staff were so welcoming and offered a great service to us. The three of us tried a variety of drinks, the cocktails were amazing and really well presented. There is a really good choice of drinks and cocktails to suit everyones taste. We decided to have a snack whilst there and ordered the Spanish Board and Dirty Fries with Meatballs. The portion sizes were huge and the food was of great quality and really tasty. We will definitely visit next time we are in the area 😊

Fab service and great new bar, didn't eat but the menu looked amazing! Drinks were fantastic and a huge selection, Dr pepper cocktail was perfect. Staff were so friendly. I'll be sure to come again next time I'm in the area, I'd give 6 stars if I could.

Really nice drinks and attentive, welcoming staff. We'll definitely be back. The drinks are quite expensive, although ours were very tasty and a cut above what's available in the local pubs. Props to the proprietors for offering Ambleside a new business that doesn't replicate what's already here!
