Lovely coffee and snack. Friendly, helpful staff but, when paying my bill, very rude woman in chef's whites appeared and started to berate her colleagues about gaps in a cake display! Off putting for customers and unfair to staff who were rushed off their feet serving customers. Didn't know where to look. Save it for later Love - customers don't want to hear it!

The window display of baked goods and the friendly welcome promised much. The multi group coffee machine reassured. The charmingly beamed café with a lovely fire was appealing. Sadly the reality left much to be desired. The cheese scones were a little bland and the innovative cheese topping was so mild it tasted of almost nothing. The coffees had very little flavour, the milk in the flat white was not textured and it was more like a latte. When this coffee was (apologetically) returned the customer appeared to be being blamed for this and then, rather than being offered a fresh brew, the contents were simply poured into a clean cup; baffling! There is obvious potential here, the location, the size, the friendly welcome. Perhaps because one of us was a trained ‘barista’ and the other is a competent amateur we are ask a lot of the coffee shops we visit but our view is that work is needed on ‘barista’ skills here. We left our drinks and went a few doors down the street to a small café where the coffee was irreproachable.

Me and my wife visited with our two small dogs, we waited approx 15 mins before being showed to table 3. They were very busy because the food is very good and the service is attentive. We’ve been a few time in the past but thought this time we felt very uncomfortable because we could hear the chef shouting abuse at members of staff. This should not be happening especially when musician hear. We would go agian as the place is a little gold mine.

Visited the bakery today during mid afternoon for late lunch. The seating area at rear of shop is atmospheric with slate floors, wooden farmhouse style furniture & the ceiling is strewn with twinkly lights. I ordered the celeriac & stilton soup with a sandwich- both were excellent. The soup was rich & smooth with a little texture & the sandwich, very tasty & generously filled. Husbands rarebit was also lovely & came with an interesting little salad. The 2 waitresses who served us were extremely helpful, attentive & very good at their jobs. Couldn't resist buying a coffee & walnut cake to take out- the selection was impressive. I'm a bit of a fussy bugger but was really impressed with our experience at Lunesdale- our best meal out in a long time & highly recommend 👌 ⭐️🍰

Of the many places to eat, on the surface this is the least showy, but we were so pleased we found it. Our poodle was greeted like a long lost friend, and we were staggered at the generous portions we were presented with. I had pea, ham and parsley soup (enough for two) and a bacon roll, filled with three thick cut rashers which were very tasty. Judith opted for the ham quiche which was enormous - full of meat and with the shortest shortcrust pastry. We’ll be back!

Everything looks amazing, but it’s definitely lacking something. These sandwiches are so filled but I wonder if they are so filled to make up for the lack of flavour. The beef is so dry and tough. Same with the cakes really. I was really excited for a monster carrot cake, but was so disappointed, it just tasted of nothing.. The service was also ridiculously slow, there seemed to be a lot of staff but only one person serving and everyone else was just stood around the coffee machine. Definitely a lot of room for improvement!

I went to this Cafe, Saturday 27th June. Just popped in as passing through Kirkby and thought looked a nice bakery to get something to eat for the journeyI ordered two bacon and sausage sandwiches, two teas and two sausage rolls. Not really thinking about been much over £10 I waited for the assistant to tot it up on the till. £17.45 please, WHAT? When I dragged myself off the floor and paid, I could not believe the price. Yes the sandwich was nice, tea is just tea and as for the sausage rolls, certainly not the best at all.Now I know we have gone through troubled times and all struggled, but, to make everybody else suffer by charging exorbitant prices..... I will not be going back. This is a popular town for tourists, and to charge foot fall these ridiculous prices is criminal, that’s the UK all over though. If you intend to go, make sure you have plenty of cash!!!

Visited on a Monday around 1, it was busy but we got a seat. We’d looked in a few, of the many, restaurants, pubs and cafes in the village and decided p, not sure why, to go here and glad we did. I’ve had plenty of light lunches in numerous places and get abit fed up with the same choices, this seemed to have similar but different choices. In the end we opted for the soup and sandwich combo, there’s a choice of 2 soups. I opted for french onion (v rich) and the hot brisket ( meltingly tender) roll, husband had tomato and fennel soup (lovely) with the blt (freshly cooked bacon slices unlike many places ), portions were huge - if that was a small soup I’d hate to see the true portion. A big pot of tea to accompany. No issues with the service or staff and loo was clean too. We couldn’t manage a cake but bought a flapjack and a current slice to take home, total cost £25.40 which we thought was v good value. I’d go again, the pies also looked good

I researched places to have breakfast on our way to friends in the Lake District as breakfast out is our little treat to ourselves when we are on our way to visit them. We decided on a few places but started off earlier than we thought so most weren't open as we headed out on the road, we came to Kirkby Lonsdale at about the right time and I had researched three establishments to try, it just happened that this one was the first we saw of the three and it had parking right outside (that was probably due to the fact that it was before 9am so most places were not yet open! this place opens at 8am Mon-Sat and 8.30 Sun) I am so glad we chose this one, the food was outstanding, the staff member who served us (a young lad) was the most pleasant young fellow I've encountered in a shop for a long while, couldn't do enough for us and made sure we were well looked after (and a great salesman as he "upsold" us on some cakes to take away, expensive but lovely cakes and well worth it). Hubby had the full breakfast with an extra side of homemade hash browns (although he did say he would probably hold off on those extra next time as they needed to be a bit crispier). I had the scrambled eggs on homemade waffles with bacon, the waffles were a bit soggy but I think that was more the juice coming out of the scrambled eggs (which I didn't mind at all) and so much bacon, there was too much for me but hubby quite happily finished off mine after his own. The eggs were scrambled to perfection and so creamy (and I am really fussy about my eggs!).

The cakes were lovely and fresh but for £1.60 they were the worse sausage rolls I have ever had. The sausage was of very poor quality and the pastry was unbearably greedy, shame really. On many occasions we have dined inside and the menu and food is lovely and a good choice of hot and cold drinks there is a good choice of take away pies and cakes. On a blustery Monday lunch time this place was heaving. We had to queue for a table but they got us seated very quickly. The cakes and pastries in the shop looked incredible and are all baked locally. In the cafe we had soup and I had the beef brisket roll. The soup would have easily served 2 people it was massive. It was clearly homemade with no artifical thickeners of even cornflour. As for the roll there was easily enough meat for 2 people; well seasoned and extremely tasty. I was offered a choice of crisps or salad. Go for the salad, its an understatement; I got couscous, green lentils, beetroot, coleslaw, leaves amd tomatoes. All in all brisk and good service fantastic food and fantastic portion sizes. The coffees and teas were larges!

We always stop here for lunch if we are visiting the area. Cosy cafe with a roaring fire which is always very popular. My other half had the hot beef brisket roll with salads while I had a jacket potato with strips of brie, crispy bacon & red pepper salsa. It also came with a selection of salads. It was a huge portion but very tasty. We picked up some delicious cakes for tea too.

This is our "go-to" café when we are in the area on holiday. I was here again recently with friends and we stopped by for tea and cake during the afternoon. The tea room is cosy and there was a fire burning in the grate on the day we visited. It's always hard to decide which cake/tray bake to choose because they all look so delicious! Well worth a visit.

Visited whilst in Kirkby (where I used to live). I always remembered this place rather fondly however on this visit I was disappointed. The service was poor and it felt like the waitress had little time for us and she was rather abrupt. The food was ok but didn’t warrant the price (Kirkby Lonsdale prices?), £7 for a BLT. I remembered I quite liked the bread so bought 2 granary loaves but when I got them home they had the texture of cardboard and very little taste. I put one in the freezer where it will probably stay until I throw it away. Overall I was very disappoints.

Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, and superb food. We went for lunch and both had high quality tasty meals. Great choice of food, from main meals, light lunches, snacks..... Its an excellent place to stop off for a bite to eat or just a coffee and cake, and as its a bakery - you can even get something scrummy to take home with you. The village itself is a real gem, and well worth wandering around. Highly recommend.

Called in here at 8.30am after staying in the most horrendous b&b; 5 miles out of town so you can imagine our enjoyment when we came across this place. We were sat in the car in the rain, hungry with 2 kids and a dog trying to find somewhere open for breakfast as we were going to the waterfalls at 9.30am. We spotted a lady walking passed with a fresh loaf in a bag and then decided that she must have co.e from these premises, she did!! Hallelujah!! An amazing little cafe in the back, doggies welcome, PERFECT!! We went for the beans and wild boar sausages on toast, apologies for no pics, didn't touch the sides!! Washed down with a black coffee, the ladies that were working were lovely and very welcoming

Had a lovely late lunch here. It's dog friendly so you can sit in with them and sample all the goodies. Plenty of lovely looking cakes but didn't get chance to try those as I had the beef brisket roll which was yummy and very filling. My partner had the jacket potato. Both with salad which was lovely and different to the usual. All the staff were friendly and we would recommend to anyone. A really lovely tearoom and bakery.

Everything is really good here, but you simply have to try their range of Muffins! I thought the “apple crumble “ one was fab until I visited last week and had the raspberry and white chocolate filled with custard! AMAZING!

From the street it looks like a fairly ordinary bakery (albeit far better than a Greg's!) - but go in and there's a lovely roaring fire in the back room where you can sit down and be served. We had the Kirkby Lonsdale Rarebit and Soup and a sandwich (pictured) and both were de-lish! Very pleased we found/chose to eat here - wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I would sincerely urge people to disgregard any negative reviews of this café and bakery. My husband and I have eaten here several times - and despite it always being busy with a waiting queue, the food is exceptionally prompt and the staff were incredibly attentive, polite and welcoming. We were asked several times how our food was and the staff were sincere, polite and responsive. I cannot fault the service at all. The food is traditional, locally sourced and hearty - the portion size is generous and they offer a creative twist on classic dishes. The café itself is full of character with amazing oven fires and wonderful original features. I am a hotel manager myself and feel I am a credible reviewer - if you are in Kirkby Lonsdale this place is a great choice.

We can't praise the breakfast here enough, top quality with generous portions. The problem is the staff, the woman who took our order was kurt and very unfriendly, and when we went to pay , the lady had no idea how to smile, she got annoyed as she tried to get a signal with the switch machine.

Called in for lunch and as it was so busy we shared a table which wasn’t a problem. Portions are large. Been there several times on our visits to Kirkby and it never disappoints.

We have been in here a few times over the years and have been a bit disappointed. But I have to say we called in on New Years Day. We had a breakfast and a beans on toast. The staff in the restaurant were lovely. Very friendly and happy and cheerful considering it was New Years Day and they were very busy. Our food was delicious. We will be back to try it out again soon.

Lovely setting to relax and enjoy the views having lunch or just a drink. A few had lunch said was nice. Me personally thought expensive for soup but enjoyed my coffee. Worth it for the views.

Tried the drive thru...waited and waited was nobody home?, Was it closed? Reversed out and entered the shop and waited at the counter and waited and waited....3 or 4 staff just chatting away oblivious to customers. 17:00 pm on Saturday. Outstanding service.

We only wanted a coffee and a cake as it was only 11.15 AM but had to queue for 20 minutes behind people ordering hot food and spending ages deciding what they wanted at the last minute Nice stuff but it needs organising a lot better Guess as its volunteer run it depends very much on what the staffing is on the day They need a separate area for those just having coffee etc rather than a meal

Good location, pleasant staff but expensive for poor quality coffee and stale cake. Was offered a refund on the cake which I declined.
