A friendly pub with bustling atmosphere. Comfortable, warm, and welcoming on a cold late-winter day. Staff very helpful. Decent menu, including Sunday roast with choice of meats.

We didn't stay here. However we visited a few times during our weekend stay. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, plus the drink prices were very reasonable xxx

Called in today for lunch. Lovely pub, very welcoming. We had the chicken curry, one of the best pub curry’s I’ve had and partner had steak and ale pie chips and veg which he said was fantastic. I pinched a few of his chips and they were proper chips not the frozen ones. Staff were very friendly will definitely come back again.

Great location on the High Street. Every single member of staff we interacted with during our stay was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the bed was super comfy! The breakfast was also generous and delicious. We absolutely could not fault our stay and we'd happily stay again.

Nice atmosphere and staff, but really truly awful food. £15 for a chicken burger that was a very sad tiny chicken breast and a handful of chips. Didn't even come with the cheese it stated on the menu. Would have been better off at a KFC.

Best hospitality experience in a long, long time! Stayed last week, party of four with two dogs for one night. Having stayed in KL quite few times already, it was our first time at this hotel. What a refreshing change!!! All staff Sean, Tom, Sharron and Helen amongst others made you feel instantly at home. All showing great interaction with guests and dogs, very warm welcome. Rooms were great, nice decor, furnishings, comfy bed and bedding, nice bathroom and great ambiance in cosy bar with roaring log fire. Very good food and generous breakfast. Couldnt fault anything and indeed was excellent value for money. Other places we have stayed in KL charge over twice as much, and not as friendly, so they had best buck their game up, this is the place to be! Couldnt be happier and as I said, hospitality is something you can't buy, it is intangible, but rare these days, so full credit to the team. Keep up the good work!!!

Mega nice reception and the service was delicious;) If you can overlook the scratches here and there, missing toilet brush, irritating name (Red Dragon), etc. and appreciate the old charm of this house, you're in the right place. Food was good too. Thanks for the great stay.

First time staying at the Red Dragon And we will definitely be staying again. Absolutely gorgeous room. Spotlessly clean. Delicious breakfast which was included Welcoming and friendly staff. The only thing that we didnt like was dogs allowed at the table at breakfast. The barking wasn't relaxing at all Other than that Loved our stay

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Red Dragon. If you are looking for somewhere convenient, cosy, atmospheric and where they will look after you well, then this is the place for you. The room was lovely and big, immaculately clean and very nicely presented. The homemade shortbread was a nice and very welcome touch. The location is so convenient, right at the heart of the village, amongst the cute shops, cosy pubs and eateries. We parked the car on the public car park and had no need for it again throughout our stay. We thought it would be convenient to eat where we were staying and there was so much choice on the menu. We really enjoyed our food and the surroundings in the bar/restaurant were lovely. As for the breakfast! Well, we could barely move afterwards. There was everything you could need, especially after a few drinks the night before. The full English was superb and the lady who attended to us was absolutely lovely and couldn't be more attentive. We will definitely be back and would like to express our thanks for a fabulous time!

My husband, 8 week old daughter and I stopped here for lunch during our visit to Kirkby Lonsdale, but were incredibly disappointed with our experience. Firstly the menu was misleading. We had chosen the hot sandwiches (which the menu stated were served until 4pm at weekends). On ordering at the bar at 13:15 I was informed they weren’t served today, “because it’s a Sunday”… So we re-selected the Soup of the Day and the Sunday roast. We ordered at 13:20. It took them 30 minutes to deliver the bowl of soup, which I had finished eating way before the Sunday roast arrived 52 minutes after ordering! The waiter even said to my husband, “have they forgotten about you?” Interesting comment when he was serving the tables! The quality of the Sunday dinner was distinctly poor to average- with soggy veg, to quote my husband “school dinner beef slices” and the Yorkshire pudding was rock hard. The soup was flavoursome, but had a thick skin on the top. We were at the Red Dragon Inn much longer than we ever intended- and not only did it cost us for the meal- we had to extend our parking!! Unless you want below average food, long wait times and mediocre service- avoid!

Stayed in a deluxe room which was lovely with a huge comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom, great shower over the bath. Had a dinner, b&b deal which was amazing value. Right in the center of lovely Kirkby Lonsdale, everything is right on your doorstep. Staff are very nice, would love to return again.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon. We knew a bit about Beatrix Potter (BP) before our visit and thought Hill Top was worth a visit, while staying in the area. So glad we did! We pre-booked our allotted visit time - late afternoon was nice and quiet. Included parking was close by and easy. We had a nice visit around the house and gardens. It was to see BP's home just as she left it. She definitely was ahead of her time, when it comes to conservation of the Lakes District. A lovely gift shop and cafe on site. Even if you don't know heaps about BP, this is worth a visit! Allow at least one hour.

Disappointing Service was not great…. not the friendliest or the most accommodating. Ushered to a table we didn’t want to sit at. Waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken. At one point I thought we were being blatantly ignored. (A lot of people were being served who came in after us.) Waited another 10 minutes for drinks to come. I ordered a large crepe but was given a small. Came on the recommendation of my sister. But unfortunately wouldn’t bother again or recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Cuckoo Brow Inn from Saturday to Monday last weekend. In the past , we have spent nights in hotels all over Europe, the Americas and Asia, and some of these stays were at 4 and 5 star accommodation. But the Cuckoo Brow really did shine out amonst many others. This accommodation is truly a real treasure. Primarily, the rooms are immaculately clean, well stocked with everything you could ever need in a bnb, cosy, warm, and of course an extremely comfortable bed. As mentioned previously, the bathroom was perfectly clean, and there was more than ample hot water for a lovely bubbly soak after a long walk. But all this is not what makes The Cuckoo Brow stand out from its competition... this is the staff. The hotel appears to be run and owned by a family, who are wonderfully friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We simply can not remember a hotel or airbnb that stands out more than the Cuckoo brow. We headed out on Saturday morning for a peruse around Grasmere, followed by a walk we had planned close by. On arrival to Grasmere village car park, I came to pay for the parking fee and noticed I had either forgotten or lost a considerable amount of cash I had in my pocket. Even before I could start a detailed search for my cash, my phone rang, and on answering, it was the receptionist from the Cuckoo brow to inform me that their daughter had found the cash on the floor of the car park and they would look after it until our return later in the day. Honesty of this level is, as we all know, unfortunately rare these days. I was very very impressed. Finally I would like to mention the food.... our breakfast was included and was a lovely varied menu with something for everyone 😋 and the Cumberland breakfast was just the best I have had for a long time. We also ate in the restaurant on Saturday evening and the food again was both delicious and at a lofty standard above the most others. In summary, if you are looking for accommodation or even just a drink and a great meal in the Lake District, then this is the place, I can't recommend it or praise it enough. We will most definitely be staying here again. Thank you to all the staff again. 10 out of 10. 😆

Carrot and coriander soup extremely watery with a handful of tiny chopped carrot's and no taste of coriander. More like a broth / dissolved stock cube with bits of floating carrot and left a terrible after taste. Very dissapointing. My partners cheese toastie was tasty but the accompanying salad very small. The cheese scone lacked cheese. Generous pot of tea and staff friendly.
