Great tea room and lovely service. Super choice of cakes

Everyone in here was so lovely. I was accidently brought an additional cheese on toast. I ate it because I am a greedy man but I also tried to pay for it because I am an honest cheese filled man. They wouldn't take my money. Anywhere that gives a man free cheese on toast gets five stars from me.

We were on our family holiday staying in the village. We stayed here last summer and had been to Mallard Tearoom. Had the best ever toasties' home made Victoria sponge & Orange Cake. Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful ingredients. Very generous portions and very reasonable prices. The service was friendly and welcoming from start to visit . Would definitely recommend.

Visited twice during our week in the area. Food was first class and a great selection to choose from. My wife is gluton intolerant and was surprised by a good choice. Reasonably priced. Excellent service

Delicious lunch. One of the nicest toasties I've had in a long time, with proper thick cut ham. Friendly service and a great selection of cakes to finish. Dog friendly too.

An excellent tea room in the delightful Cartmel village. It has a good, extensive menu. We had baked potatoes, served by friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely little tea room, only a few tables inside with extra seating outside if you’re lucky with the weather! Had everything in the menu you you want for lunch, sandwiches, toastiest, cakes, jacket potatoes etc. Welcoming staff, good food. Lovely area too

We had a poor capuchino here, probably using boiled milk, which was disappointing, but the atmosphere of locals was nice.

Called today with husband. Ordered 2 Cumberland sausage buns, after I found 2 pieces of something hard (gristle?) I couldn't eat anymore, not long after husband found similar in his, not nice, not the best quality sausage. Ordered a piece of biscuit & cherry slice to remove the sausage memory, this slice was lovely, nice balance of biscuits and cherry with a thick real chocolate topping. Felt very uncomfortable sitting at the table near the door as a couple were allowed to stand for at least 15 minutes whilst waiting for a free table - we felt "watched" for the majority of our time in there, perhaps the people waiting should be asked to wait outside or a booking taken and asked to return at the allotted time. I wish the lady taking our payment (who was pleasant enough) had asked if our meal was OK because I would have told her, alas she didn't hence my somewhat negative review - shame

It has inside and outside seating. Very friendly staff and great food. We stopped in for a late lunch. We had a cheese and onion toastie and a jacket potato with cheese and onion. We also had the best sticky toffee pudding we have ever had.

Lots to choose from, all on blackboards. Plus a menu. Only small place with couple tables outside, also picnic table across the road which they are happy for you to use. They have a toilet too.

Nice selection of simple lunch choices. With seating inside and out. We chose a selection of jacket potatoes with filings such as cheese and beans, cheese and coleslaw and sweet and chicken. The cakes for desert were tasty.

Lovely small cafe in Cartmel, the four of us enjoyed baked potatoes and toasties, home made cakes and hot drinks, all cheerfully served. Good quality and value, we would recommend a visit.

I am a local to Cartmel. Called in for a cappuccino which was great. Made to feel very welcome by the staff and had a lovely conversation with Alison the owner. Didn’t have anything to eat but the food and cakes looked delicious. Was so nice and relaxing sitting outside people watching. Thanks Alison and staff

Very clean. Good selection of breakfast menu and light lunches and cakes. Good choice of teas, coffees and soft drinks. Service can be slow when busy. Children and dog friendly

Live nearby so visit fairly often and enjoy our visits. Unfortunately not too good today, the waitress forgot our order whilst she chatted and prioritised her friends who had arrived after us. The Lemon Meringue was great but shouldn't have taken 20 minutes and a reminder.

Whilst visiting the lakes we decided to go for breakfast after seeing some good reviews and those reviews were spot on. The ladies that run this cafe were so welcoming. We had breakfast sandwiches and my daughter had a toastie. The produce was of excellent quality which really stood out. Has to have been the thickest sausage I have ever had. All was truly delicious 😋

Popped in for lunch on a rainy day after Segway at Lakeland Activities (also really good!). Enjoyed toasties, jacket potato and homemade soup. All delicious and well presented. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding, meringue, caramel shortbread and toffee and apple pie. Scrumptious 😋 This little treasure is well worth a visit and very reasonably priced.

Sat outside in the sunshine with my family and two dogs. Wonderful home cooked food and beautifully presented. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend.

Nice food and good location in Cartmel. We suffered very poor service to the point the waitress refunded some money. Not sure they cope very well when busy so choose your time carefully.

Fabulous coffee and fruit scone

It was cold and damp and this little tea shop was exactly what the doctor ordered! We each had leek and potato soup and a toasted sandwich and everything was delicious. It was just simple food but it was done well.

Generous in portions but a bit 1970’s. Burnt sausage and damp bread roll. Horrible filter coffee. Other dishes looked better than the roll I had so maybe I just got a bad one.

Called in for a cup of tea. The wife was looking at the cakes wishing to she could have a piece of one of them and explained she had a gluten free diet. Not a problem as the Lemon Meringue amongst others were gluten free. Nice to find a tea shop which had more than one gluten free options. Lovely tea shop staff are very helpful and very reasonably priced.

Both had tea and scones with jam and cream. The jam and cream were fine but the scones were the worst ever. My sticky toffee pudding was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Zero customer service, and the rudest, most miserable staff imaginable! This is probably due to the owner being aggressive, argumentative and hostile! The food however, was very nice.. First and last visit!

Poor customer service, ordered a sausage sandwiche, they then brought out a bacon sandwiche which I didn't mind. I mentioned it to the lady and she took it back to get a sausage one. As she came back out she aggressively said to my Partner and I that we'd ordered the bacon. Shame cause the food was okay but she ruined our experience.

Very slow service when they are busy with no proper control over the order in which tables should have been served. People coming in from outside tables to place order seemed to get priority. Coffee and food good when it arrived.

Nice place to pop into for a light bite as you explore Cartmel - friendly staff and it was great to sit outside and watch the world go by.

What an absolutely cutey lovely cosey little stopping off cafe this is. Massive scones with good quality whipped cream and very fruity packed jam. Twinnings teas served in lovely jubbley cutey tea sets . On both visits here to the The Mallard Tea Shop it was a pleasure to visit ...and great to know for lunches too that by the way looked superb ... Cartmel is so lovely and this little well run place with excellent service and great produce and presentation of good quality foodies is an asset to the village for sure for sure for sure ..that's for sure.😆
