I rang before setting off, making sure they had what I was wanting to buy. The lady on the phone couldn’t have been more helpful, polite and friendly. She offered to save the items I wanted until I arrived. When I did arrive, I noticed she was the only one on the “shop floor” - despite being busy, she treated everyone with a smile and with enthusiasm. Thanks!

We've eaten here many times over several years and have always enjoyed it. Today I had Chicken Skewers which sadly didn't taste good. I was worried in case the chicken was a bit off in some way and it put me off my meal. It was also far too salty overpowering the mint and lemon. The Skewers were served with Salad, Flatbread and also Hummus and Baba Ganoush which were both icy cold, very odd! No one came to ask how our meal was whilst we were eating so I raised my concern with the waitress having left most of my chicken. She reported back to us that the kitchen sent their apologies. My husband had Chowder which he ate though said it lacked fish, had a lot of potato and was "gloopier" than when we have previously enjoyed it. We then ordered 2 cakes and 2 coffees as I was still hungry. These were of the usual standard I am pleased to say. Though I had raised my concern no further mention, apology, or gesture to rectify the situation was made by staff as we paid and left.

Lovely find courtesy of Google maps. We needed somewhere to haul in and have some breakfast en route home to Yorkshire. Coffee and a bacon butty did the trick; Perfect well filled tasty bacon in top quality bread bun. Superb cappuccino to wash down. Eclectic place, super staff and top nosh food. A tad expensive (made my Yorkshire heart palpate a bit) this is not a moan it’s fact but you pay a little bit more for quality. Definitely return for their full breakfast one day.

Great little find on our way home from Grizedale. We had lunch (venison burger & haddock chowder), coffees and cakes (tiffin and a GF orange cake). The food was delicious and we had a warm and friendly welcome to what was a very busy cafe, antiques shop and gift shop. We spent a good hour after lunch looking around and bought some lovely gifts for ourselves and to put away for birthdays. If you're passing, I'd highly recommend calling in. As frequent visitors to the Lakes it's firmly on our list to keep returning.

Excellent stop after a walk in the beautiful Lake District and the local area. Really nice shop to browse around with something for everyone at great, realistic prices. Local crafted, items that are great quality and make wonderful gifts. Had a wonderful meal at the award winning Harry’s cafe. The atmosphere is amazing, beautiful restaurant, clean tidy and warm and welcoming. The food is absolutely fantastic. Great selection of high quality food. Staff are helpful, kind, happy to help and friendly. The location is beautiful and so are the shop and cafe, they fit in really well with the surrounding area. We look forward to visiting again soon.

This cafe was the perfect location to catch up with friends. You can't really go wrong with breakfast bap, or cakes so we were extremely happy when our orders arrived. We have wanted to visit this cafe for some time, and we have finally made it. As we arrived very late morning we chose the cooked breakfast, and we have to say that it was 1st class. Excellent quality products, especially the sausage, an ingredient that isn't always my favourite, and the potato rosti was to die for, with a crisp outer and textured inside. Beautiful presented, great service with happy and friendly staff. We will definitely be back to experience other plates. Thank you to the chef and the team.

A ‘meet cute’ in old film parlance is what comes to mind to describe our first visit to Harry’s. An absolute gem, with great ambience, well spaced tables and dog friendly too. Not a huge menu, however we were spoilt for choice, so many unique and tantalising taste combinations. We went for the Haddock Chowder, a taste sensation with lovely flakes of smoked haddock , served with a very tasty, fluffy cheese scone and an amazing spiced cauliflower dish with tahini which packed an amazing taste punch, along with with a side dish of grilled halloumi with coriander and lime dressing. Both were so delicious, the halloumi was the best that either of us had ever tasted. We will definitely be coming back when we are next in the vicinity.

First time back in many years. The floor manager is much better. As is the new chef. Prices are much higher. Full English was very good but should be called Half English as it was 1/2 portion (e.g. 1 egg, 1 piece of toast, 1 tiny portion of potato, et cetera). That said it was worth the price because it was well made. Like many other reviewers, we experienced the same old slow and unwelcoming service. Professionalism and a smile during busy periods would go a long way towards fixing these. Also like others, we received our coffee order when our meal was nearly complete. Still room for improvement, but also much improved.

I don’t chose to be gluten intolerant, it’s a medical condition over which I have no control. Upon arrival I said I would need a gluten free option, I was handed a menu with not a word said. I asked a second waitress, “didn’t know” so I had to ask her to find out. The menu does state gluten free options available. I chose the pork & apricot with chips instead of the gluten containing bread. The insult & discriminatory result was half a bowl of chips compared with the whole bowl my husband was given. Thanks Harry’s Cafe for reducing me to tears this Christmas.🎄🎅🏻

We celebrated my 75th birthday with an extraordinarily good lunch at Harry's. Housed on the ground floor of an antiques place, it was warm, friendly and a perfect place to go for lunch - it opens from 10am to 4pm. We had lovely braised lamb with chickpeas - very rich and savoury - with sourdough bread. Only one dessert option, a lovely individual chocolate tart. Good wine by the glass. Great service and a modest bill. We couldn't fault it - absolutely super!

Not impressed. I visit regularly with friends and family. They were running a loyalty scheme where a card was stamped if you spent over £10 . Quite often my expenditure was less unless I visited for lunch. Although they stopped issuing the cards I was assured they would honor cards already in use. Recently I was advised that I was no longer able to complete the card and the member of staff refused to stamp it although my bill was close to £25. Will avoid this venue in future.

We first came across Yew Tree Barn for breakfast on our way home after we’d been recommended by the owners of Peony cottage in Newby Bridge where we’d been staying back in May. The breakfast was so good we said we would definitely be calling again in September when we were coming back to Peony Cottage. And so as soon as we arrived back we went straight there for lunch ( homemade Chowder with homemade cheese scone , £9 and the most fantastic sweet potato chips £3.50. Called for coffee and cakes when they opened at 10am. We were quickly followed in by the owners of more than ten dogs, many of whom felt it was o.k. to let them wander about. Some were on the seats and even eating of tables. Great of you are a dog - not great if you are interested in the hygiene. The local council should take a look at the situation here. This place has the potential to be satisfactory - but avoid it unless you want to share your table with a dog.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

My husband and I were staying at the nearby county hotel and decided to call in for a coffee on the way into the shopping area. The coffee was great and the millionaires slice was lovely. Service was very good.
