A real shame compared to how it used to be visiting over a number of years. I visited with my grandma and 3 young children. We felt rushed to order, asking if they could accommodate 3 small sausage buns for the children and two coffees. We later added 3 small milkshakes - the total? £37!!! The buns were large but bread was too hard for children to chew and served on a bed of wet rocket? Coffees were good but we were watched the entire time. Staff were polite but the whole experience was uncomfortable and overpriced! On reflection, I wonder if this is perhaps intentional? I'm sure they won't lose sleep over two less customers, however I hope this review is useful for anyone considering visiting with children.

We have been coming here for years and years and fhen some! There have been lots of changes, ofcourse, in this time. And the food akthough plentiful is more of a cost conscious product rather than a labour of love as before. The coffee is fabulous and the choice of teas phenomenal. We shall still be visiting. Snooty atmosphere. Some of the staff, not all, made us feel very unwelcome. They pulled faces to each other and made comments under his breath simply because my family hadn’t decided what to order. After this unfriendly service my grandparents had realised they have been charged for drinks they didn’t order. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Atrocious service and waiters were very rude and after our family’s bad experience, they overcharged us by adding a second milkshake when we only ordered one! Do not recommend going here if you want a pleasant experience.

The service was very poor due to the waiters, especially the sassy young man who would give a dirty look every time we said a word. In Addition to this we were charged twice for a drink and I suspect this was the young man doing it out of spite for us taking a while to order. I am absolutely appalled at this as my 80 year old grandparents were preyed on and were made to pay for something we didn’t order. Would never recommend this to anyone who has even considered going here if they want a good time, would leave NO stars if I could!!

After a walk along the promenade. We found the Hazelmere cafe and bakery. Unfortunately it was just about to close so the boys who told me needed a energy boost had some chips and sodas. My wife and I had a much needed tea. I tried the chips (quality control is important!) And o don't know how they cooked them but they were actually fantastic. Despite lateness we were not hurried and service were fantastic. The decor was quaint oldie worldy complete with chandeliers. Not too pricey. If you're ever in Grange over Sands in the Lake district make sure you visit.

Even though we came on a Saturday in the middle of summer, there was no queuing though a short wait to be seated. Staff were quick to give us our menus and take our orders. Drinks came quickly and food not far behind. Portion sizes were just right and tasted great. Lots of choice for different types of tea to suit all tastes. My daughter (primary age) had her very own Peter Rabbit kid's afternoon tea, which included a little pot of Uruwala Sri Lanka tea and wolfed the whole lot down!

My first time here, first time its not been full! Obviously well supported by locals and very busy. Service is excellent and the food does not disappoint. I had Cumberland sausage, two lovely sausages on riced mash potato lashings of gravy with al dente sugar snap, carrot and baby broccoli, just perfect. The sausages came from Cartmel Game Butchers, just lovely full of meat nice herbs very good. My partner had Chicken Schnitzel, nice and crisp, looked good. I had a side of Vegan Slaw (no diary), very good, fresh and crisp great flavour. Date and Walnut Tart, best pud I have had for a while, sweet and packed full of nuts and dates. This is a must have pud if you are popping in, I noticed the locals pop in for cake and coffee. It will probably be impossible to get in this cafe again until the autumn but we will come back. We visited this cafe in the 1980’s and was happy to still see it there. It has gone a bit more upmarket since we last visited. I preferred how it was more traditional. We had to wait outside and then there is a seating area you sit to wait for a table, it’s a bit awkward as you are facing other customers eating whilst you sit and watch them. The food we had was tasty and the drinks were nice but it was £30 for soup and a sandwich with a drink so not cheap. What I didn’t like was whilst we sat by the door waiting for our table watching other customers eat, we and other waiting customers we were never acknowledged or said hello to, it’s only a little thing but to be made to feel welcome is so important. Would I visit again? No I think I’ll keep my happy memories from the 80’s 😂

A rather nice bakery and cafe on a decent terrace of shops down near the station at Grange-over-Sands. It's the end nearest the roundabout. I recall this business, or one very similar, being here for many years since we first came up to the South Lakes area. Then I particularly liked the bakery. Now both are good. We popped in to both on a first visit in a long while. First off, it was busy, which is always a good sign. We'd already eaten lunch, regretfully, otherwise I'd have enjoyed eating here, so just had tea, a cafetierre of Rift Valley coffee and a simple cake or pastry each. As there were no Yorkshire Curd Tarts in today, it had to be an Eccles Cake, for want of something else. Well, the best cup of coffee I've had in a good while. Good service. Good pastry.....though I prefer something savoury... All in all we both enjoyed what we had and I would use this cafe again any time. The bakery deserves regular use, as their products look excellent!! Try one or preferably both, you won't be disappointed!! A good four stars, definitely. I hovered over giving five but would have to eat lunch to see.

Service and food is slow, I was wanting to catch my train so asked for the bill, the girl said she was inputting orders first. If my train had not been late, I could well have missed it, and would have had to wait another hour. We stopped into this traditional tea room on a recommendation from a local who told us about Grange-over-sands last year, and they said you'll have the best fish and chips ever at Grange-over-sands, a tall order to top as I've had some amazing fish and chips in my time. When I say traditional tea room, I don't mean that tired, old fashioned post war England Tea Room, I mean, traditional in the sense they offer amazing teas, coffees, cakes and pastries and hot/cold food. What makes this restaurant special is their attention to the smallest of details, like, individually wrapped butter pats l, and the butter is at room temperature so it actually spreads. All the food is beautifully presented on quality earthenware, the staff are polite, engaging and friendly, they make you feel valued. So, the food. I had the small portion fish and chips.....wow, beautiful, white, flakey haddock wrapped in light and crispy batter, homemade, Chunky tartar sauce, homemade mushy peas and crispy/fluffy chips, gorgeous. My partner had the grilled peach and Feta salad, a huge bowl full of goodness. The decor and atmosphere of this tea room is modern yet somehow traditional, fresh and immaculately clean. Can you guess that I loved this place, I did. They did everything perfectly, very rare today. We actually made a special detour of 25 miles to go here, and we weren't disappointed, you won't be either, GO!!

Stopped here for lunch and I had the hunters chicken ciabatta with sweet potato fries. It was very nice indeed. My only complaint was that I got a bone in the chicken which I was going to point out but no-one came to us to ask how our meal was or to take our dishes away, the staff were upstairs as it was closing time and they were clearing up (I assume). When we went to pay for it the girl didn't ask if everthing was ok or how our meal was so I didn't bother saying anything. It didn't stop me from enjoying my meal or my time spent here.
