What a terrible disappointment. We have eaten at the green Man several times over the years. It’s gone from a vibrant country pub to a disaster.
The pub is nice, the surroundings and Garden are beautiful But the food was diabolical!! There were 2 teenage girls running the pub, not a Manager or adult present. The young girls were very gracious but they were to inexperienced to deal with customers.
The pub was empty, but for 9 people including our selves in the garden.
The toilets were unclean.
I specifically told the staff that I could not eat garlic, but the potatoes were cooked in Garlic, I also think the vegetables had garlic, even though the chef denied it.
The beef was so tough it was inedible. I brought it home for the dog.
No deserts were offered. We left at 6pm and the girls closed the pub after we left. The pub is apparently closed 3 days a week now.
The Landlord or brewery need to get a grip, it cannot be a viable business any longer.
One final thing, the small amount of potato I ate with garlic on made me feel very Ill. If it was a nut allergy and they ignored it, I could be very seriously ill now
Service was appalling, we had 6 dishes; 2 Garlic bread and 4 Pizzas. 4 of the 6 were burnt to a cinder. The server was only available when running other tables drinks/food, no check backs at any point. Took 20mins to get our drinks and 90 minutes to get pizzas, 2 of which arrived 5 minutes before the final 2. The only positive was the way they resolved the bill. Had high hopes for a new independent business, evening was thoroughly ruined.
Came for a meal on friday, have to say it was one of the worst meals i have had, food was cold and bland, service was much the same, rude manager and frankly terrible all round, better places to eat. Avoid
Called into Cafe Nero around 12.30 for a drink and a sit down after walking round town in the cold. I’ve never been in before. The service was very slow at the counter despite being no queue. There were no free tables to sit downstairs apart from 1. The room was busy with young men coming and going without buying drinks or food. They appeared to be sitting indoors out of the cold in between doing food deliveries on their bikes. The coffee was nice but think for a relaxing non working type of environment we will go somewhere else for a drink in future.
Seems to have improved a lot. I hadn't been for a while as it wasn't very good the last time I visited. I recently went in as a last minute plan and was pleasantly surprised. Looks like there may have been new staff taken on.
All the tables were clean and tidy. The food came out hot and to a good standard. Good value for money.
Not good at all. The place needs a deep clean. The table and cutlery were filthy. The floor was covered in scraps of food but they had only just opened. The toilet was filthy.
Food took ages and was worse than a cheap ready meal, really bland and tasteless. Nope. Avoid.
The food here has just gradually deteriorated since the owner passed over management to staff. I went there tonight got fish and chips gravy and sausage the fish given to me was taken of the ledge above the chips it all fell apart and when i got it home looked like something i put in my cats bowl. The sausage was barely cooked it ended up in bin. Don't go after 8pm the staff are preoccupied with getting off food is put on plates on top of the mesh drainer it sits in its own grease. The main fryer doesn't make any eye contact with you very unfriendly. i wont be going again, after 25 years Ive had enough,, very sad. There's lots of better places than this
