It used to be a great chippy when the owner worked there but he was getting on so he got a manager. Big guy, bad attitude, you could tell all the staff hated him and could cut the atmosphere with a knife! He just doesn’t care! Moses about and doesn’t keep the Chips flowing at the right rate which clearly annoys the staff. Every other member of staff is brilliant but I’m assuming his negativity has brought the place down. It’s very expensive too which wouldn’t be too bad but the quality isn’t there! Essentially I only use it to get chips now to go with food I’ve made at home.

Great Staff and the best fish n chips in Preston, been many times over the years during my night shifts, always very good.

Ordered from here got small fish & chips with gravy handmade fishcake &chips peas and carton curry when arrived it was only warm and the batter was very greasy &soggy sad to say for over £21 won’t be going again

Delicious fresh fish and chips wrapped in paper. No trays or boxes just wrapped in paper like every chippy used to be. Good mushy peas too.

been coming here for years as soon as Pete left the place has just gone down hill. Last night at about 730pm when for fish and chips £8.00 - the fish had obviously sat there for a while and was soggy chips were awful. The girl serving was very nice. The guy that cooks nowhere to be seen. i wont be going again most of my meal ended up in the bin.

Its a great plaice for fish and chips, amazing mushy peas and gravy. Steak puddings are good and if you like scallops (potato style) then you will live these

Terrible food, dried chips like they had been there all day, soggy 2 small pieces of fish instead of a 1 fresh fish. Also cocky staff members .. not be visiting again.. used to be good .poor waste of money

Probably one of the best chip shops in Preston. Chips are perfect and the fish are massive.

This was my second visit this month, and both times, my fish was on the small side. The fish was like rubber coated by hard, crispy batter. Not very nice at all. I feel very cheatted and ripped off and will not be visiting a third time. This used to be one of the best chippy around

Chips where stone cold like warm up from the morning the cheese pie smell and rock hard need bullet teeth to chew the gravy wow look like diarrhoea just bare chucks bossman wasn’t there so that probably why the food is inedible order 10 mins after opening also

Never again, the worst fish and chips I have ever tasted. The fish tasted of smokey bacon and the chips were pale and soggy. Change your oil.

After ordering sausage and chips twice with gravy, we were shocked to discover as we were leaving A Halal food delivery van which were bringing in boxes of sausages, there is no sign anywhere that their food is Halal as put me right off, I’m voting with my feet. Strangely enough last time we ate them we all said, it taste strange and didn’t finish the meal. If this is not the case and you are selling the usual sausages that you used to sell then I shall remove my review

Been here a good few times, always get an excellent service, great food as well. Cash & Card with a minimum spend of £5.00 on the card.

This place is so hit & miss couple weeks ago lovely thick whitenfish crispy batter , soft well cooked chips , tonight flat dried out fish brown underside not white & fleshy as last time, dried out chips. Not first time been hit n miss either, think best try somewhere else!!!

I've always liked this chippy but I won't be going back i ordered fish chips n curry and fish chips peas n gravy first part of oder correct then was nearly given sausage chips peas n gravy I said thats wrong I didn't order this and repeated my order the man came from the rear of the shop to sort out Happy days when I got home I was gutted, bewildered, mad on opening the food I had been served fish chips peas n gravy and fish chips peas n curry the staff are deff as a post didn't enjoy it at all as the wife hate the peas I know this thats why I wouldn't have asked for them with curry £22 for a argument and a silent tea thanks

Been going to this chip shop for 40 years wow what a change not sure if Peter still ownes it, if he does he needs to vet his staff. We went on Saturday the 3rd of June we were served by the most obnoxious rude unfriendly ( MALE) I have ever had my misfortune to be served by we arrived at 4.35 and we were still waiting to be served at 5.07 this man clearly did not want to be there, throwing things round the back I ordered a tin of coke he slammed it down on the counter, just after that 2 girls, arrived neither of them washed there hands touching there fake eye lashes and rubbing there hands through there hair while serving I have been in the catering industry for 42 years, I noticed a 5 stair for health and heigine on the door I'm sure the environment health would be interested in what is going on, to finish no apology was made for keeping us waiting just a look of content when we walked out WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE AND I WILL MAKE IT MY BUISNESS IN MY NEXT REVIEWS TO PUT THIS IN.

One of the great traditional fish and chip shops in Preston. You can't go wrong.

Pleasant service, chips were nice and not over done. Sausage, pudding, fish and scallops - no complaints from any of us. Really nice. Good value for money - and one of the few proper chippys open until a bit later

Not the quality it used to be when the owner was on site. Cold chips again last week imo because they leave the hatch open all the time so its pot luck if fresh ok otherwise not so. Just been in, waited with no one else in the shop whilst guy who does the frying ( mr grumpy ) stopped playing on his mobile in the back and ordered 2 lightly battered fish as usual, watched him put 2 nice looking fish in which then seemed to take ages to cook while the guy went back to his chair and phone. So Very pleasant young lady Got my order and off I go only to get home and fish are totally overcooked and dry as a bone in a desert. It's such a shame because I've been going here for years but now its hit and miss and it's just not good enough sorry

I have always used this Chippy as up until recently I have always been very happy. However the last couple of times, I feel I have wasted my money. Cold, limp chips, greasy fish and tasteless gravy. The one star was for the curry sauce, they had ran out of mushy peas and it would be 10 mins or more if I wanted to wait for some. No thank you, the rest of our order was bagged up. A big let down, I won't be recommending West End again.

Fish isn’t cooked to order. Ask for a freshly cooked one for the guy to have a go about they are freshly cooked. Sorry mate but I want a crispy fish not a soggy one. The girls serving really nice just a shame the owner is always watching over them like a hawk making her feel under pressure

never go here because their is a kid who steals my food because he cant afford his own socks so he had his greasy toes out i think his name is Alexander

Hadn't been here in a long time,due to horrid staff thought we'd give it a try this evening. Wish we hadn't food so greasy and luke warm,horrible peas and very expensive had to wipe done our table due to the about of grease about! Half of the fish was still stuck to the paper they'd wrapped it in with the chips!!! Never going there again. £23 wasted.

Not sure but i think a guy called Pete used to run this place who ive not seen in a while, and it was always spot on, excellent food and nothing too much trouble service with a smile. been going every other friday for years but lately fish overcooked and staff are in a muddle at times and the guy doing the frying is unfriendly when asked for specials etc not what it used to be im afraid

Min card £5. My food came to £4.90. They take square which in min price from square £1.00 so why min £5? That shouldn't be allowed!!! Same percentage of 1.75 % per transaction if £1 or £5. Don't get it. They would actually save money as square doesn't even charge for low payments!!!

If you are passing through Preston or live there and fancy fish & chips, AVOID THIS PLACE. The staff dont know what the business is about. £6.20 for 1 piece of fish is overpriced. Fish, chips & mushy peas normally come together, not 6 minutes apart. No spoon for peas, no napkins, cheeky individual touching money and food. Too busy getting her Coke to attend to counter. Never heard of a fish supper! Really? In the wrong job. Give it a miss.

This used to be the best chippy for miles around but recently it’s not been nice. Greasy, floppy anaemic damp chips, really thin dry fish in hard batter, and peas that were barely luke warm and had no taste or flavour at all. Even my absolute favourite- potato scallops- are now hard inside and over greasy. Really hope it returns to its former glory soon but going to give it a miss for a while.

Used to be lovely chippy but it’s gone down hill over the years. Fish very thin and small mainly staff now they don’t seem bothered when owner in it’s much better. They need to get large fish on menu I’d rather pay more to get bigger fish it’s embarrassing last time I just threw it in the bin vowed never to return not been back for over a year now new regular much better

Great menu, one of the best local chippies in Preston. Their portion sizes are well worth the price and it's cheap and priced well. The staff are lovely and food is made quickly and you don't have to wait that long, even during rush hours. They even do potato fritters which are my favourite

The best chip shop in Preston. Absolutely amazing and the young girls that work there are so so lovely. Think the girl that served me was called Ella and she was so lovely and polite. Not what you see in young people nowadays so was a breathe of fresh air. The food was fresh hot and of good quality. I will definitely be returning. Thankyou west end.

Love this chippy! Great food. Fish is huge and just all round, a great chippy. Tad more expensive than some other chippy shops BUT well worth it for the fresh fish. Only one thing they could do is maybe give meal deal offers at night not just at lunch. But they do cook a mean fish! Nuff said 👍

Tried lots of others locally and this is the best around. Good sized portion hot and fresh. Curry sauce is just right. I hate it when it's over spiced. Prices are what you would expect to pay. Wish fish and chip places delivered !

Rude owner, staff can’t speak politely, went to shop on a friday at 20:50 to be told get out we are not serving we are closed, well they door is wide open and says on door its open till 22:00 so I left to then see 10 minutes later another customer go in and come out with food. I used to go here every friday at the same time so I am sure I know your usually open I will never return plenty of chippys about and this is definitely nothing special!! Learn some customer service skills and change your times of opening if you can’t serve customers shut the doors? not just be rude

Good little chip shop friendly service well priced can't really ask much more from a chippy only little that I don't like is their peas are a bit bland.

Was given the wrong order. Left the cheese off my chips and then pit fish cakes in with my sausage even though im allergic. They were to know that so fair enoigh but when i rang to let them know their mistake to take better care in future the worker said nothing and then just went “okay sorry” in a monotonous voice. Extremely bad customer service Wish this couldve been resolved in provate but

Not very good first impressions, as a first time customer visiting this establishment found the server quite rude, a simple polite response to a request you couldn't fulfil would of been more appropriate. Food was ok and if you actually ventured out of plungington once in your life you will realise that this chippy is definately not the best in Preston.

This was recommended by a friend, as a family we thought fish and chips x 4, bear in mind 2 children...would be a bit much and possibly a waste, so we opted for 2 x large fish and chips, don’t waste your money for the large portion! It’s definitely not worth the money, normally large portions are overflowing with chips so there’s enough to go around.... not here!!! We struggled to get one portion of chips to split between two... the fish was ok, but mostly batter...... don’t think we’ll going back anytime soon... we’ll be staying with our local chippy

Very happy with it. Great gravy, not too salty like in most chippy shops. Cannot complain with the portion size, always share it with my son.Pretty clean place too. Will definitely go back.

Excellent fish and chips. By far the best in the area. Fish are always fresh and taste wonderful. Service very quick and a variety of pies, sausage etc. You’ll travel a long way to find fish and chips that taste as good as this.

Not much to say fish was really poor quality batter hard and dry couldn't eat half of it was so dry, chips not much better. Won't be going again.

Like this place, however they forgot the fish. They did offer for us to go and pick one up or claim one another day. So not bad overall.

We visited to see if the chippy was as good as it used to be, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be. The Greek owner I think has retired and the chippy is being managed by people I don't know. They are a bit outdated in that they do not take contactless transactions. The girl who served me forgot to put our fish in the bag that we had paid for, I was offered a replacement over the phone but as we do not live close to the chippy it was not worth the bother to drive back to get the fish, much to my wife's disappointment. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.
