Theatre Street Bar & Grill in Preston

We visited the new venue at The Plough at Eaves. We have been regulars at the original restaurant in the city and was sad to see it go until we had our meal at the new place. We have to say, it’s got been better. Beautiful surroundings with lovely lighting and the food was to die for! Make the journey…. You won’t regret it!

What a fabulous place. We were a table of 8, and everything was spot on. We all had the most amazing food. Everyone loved it, and to round our evening off, we danced away to your live music. Brilliant, thank you, Alex, and the team for looking after us so well.

Booking accepted and confirmed by phone only to find the restaurant completely closed on arrival. I had to provide my phone number on booking and I'm sure I would have got a phone call if I didn't turn up, so if there was an unavoidable issue, causing the restaurant to close, surely they could have called me. That way I could have avoided a wasted trip and planned something else.

Only 2 types of red wine on offer, but one was out of stock. Not good.

Me and my partner eat here on Friday afternoon, we had to change our booking from 3 to 4 due to a problem with accommodation, which they were fine with, Sarah who dealt with us was chatty and couldn’t do enough for us, we had the small plates which come in much bigger portions that we anticipated, this was a good thing, would highly recommend the place and wouldn't hesitate to visit again should we be back in the area.

Really enjoyed our trip to the Theatre bar. The food was delicious - we had the small plates, chimichanga, prawns, chicken wings. And my husband had a black pudding dish! There’s plenty of dishes to choose from and side dishes of potatoes, chips, bread and lots of veggie dishes too. The service was really good. Sarah was on it! And very friendly. We are looking forward to going back.

What a dump, food was awful, service was the worse and the place lacks sole. Owner/manager has a chip on his shoulder and has no interest in business. All he wants to do is go outside and smoke. BTW he reeked of cigarette smell. Don’t waste your time or money at this establishment.

A really nice place just off the main street so can be a bit more quieter, but has a nice and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of seating indoors and a few seats at the front. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the food and drink is really good 👍 👌 with plenty of choice. We had four good meals and would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely bit of lunch here today and took advantage of the great 50% off deal they had on. Chicken on the kebabs was beautiful and the black pudding was cooked perfectly on the stack. Mussels where not quite to our liking but all in all a fab little lunch trip and will be back to try the main evening menu. Good friendly service and lots of wine choice.

We had the lunch menu yesterday and everything from the food, service and environment were excellent. It is highly recommended and we well definitely return as the restaurant boasts some very good offers every day, particularly on Sunday with two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30!!

Popped in for a quick drink with my wife and daughters, following a meal in another restaurant. The bartender was polite and was apologetic about only being able to accept cash, due to card machine not working. Next time we’re here we’ll be trying the menu for sure.

I went to a restaurant with my family to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. The food was great, but the overall experience was very poor, especially due to the customer service. The first waiter was excellent and very helpful, but things went downhill from there. We had a small conversation that led to a complaint from another customer. This customer, a middle-class gentleman, asked us to refrain from swearing. I was taken aback because I was not aware of any profanity, although my wife apologized. We were quietly enjoying our meal when we asked for the bill and paid. However, we were immediately asked to leave. When we asked for a reason, we were told that they had enough and then told we were to be escorted from the premises. I found this treatment insulting and refused to be led to the door, insisting that I would see my family out myself. My wife called around 10 minutes later to complain about the treatment we received. We felt that because of one person's complaint, we were treated poorly compared to the other family. We were initially advised that we would receive a full refund, but then 2 minutes later, we were told that we would not receive a refund as they thought we were someone else. This was very concerning. The chef's skills were not reflected in the poor customer service. It's a shame that they prioritize one customer's complaint over others' experiences.

I have been dining at Theatre Street Restaurant for many years! Anyhow, I went last Tuesday for tapas with a couple of friends and it was faultless. We had 3 tapas for £14.95 (could have been £12.95) but all was perfect with extremely attentive service x. X

i really wouldn't recommend this place we got accused of swearing by this karen when we never. on a Saturday night the place was empty no wonder why 🤣 shame because the food was decent but the rudeness of the girl staff member( her name was sarah i think ) she told us to leave and never told us the reason why after we had paid. we had came here for my birthday and it was ment to be a very good night and a speacial night but this just completely ruined the day dont come here as itll ruin ur day

This establishment is down an alley - we stumbled across it as we were looking around for an interesting place to dine. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambience, excellent service, HUGE FRESH OYSTERS, wine list and the belly pork and panacotta we had. If you’re looking for something other than the same old pub vibe, fresh seafood and grilled meats with yummy desserts, try Theatre Street Bar & Grill.

My wife and I went for an anniversary meal and we'll be back. Great restaurant in Preston, can recommend the t-bone steak. Well done to all staff.

The night we called the restaurant wasn't warm and I had my scarf wrapped over my shoulders all night. We mentioned it was chilly and they said the heater was on, pointing at a wall heater/ air conditioning unit on the far wall. Food was tasty apart from the cabbage which was burnt and tough. Doubly disappointing as other reviewers said it was soft and buttery, plus all sides are extra, including chips and potatoes which hiked the meal prices considerably. The staff were friendly but service was very slow. Maybe they were having an off night as the gents toilets flooded, which staff handled calmly. We won't be rushing back.

After talking on the phone and expressing my wishes, Theatre Street prepared a fantastic seafood platter of Lobster tail, lobster claws, dressed crab,crab claws, king prawns, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp and squid. A spread fit for a king! Service was superb, music was mellow and lovely atmosphere. I complimented the staff and the chefs. Well done Theatre Street and a big Thank You for a great dining experience! I shall be back.

Delicious tapas food here and great service from lovely staff. All the food was lovely and hot. Really happy with it!

Initially we had high hopes seeing how busy it was, little did I know it would have been one of the most disappointing and underwhelming meal me and my partner have had. Our T-Bone steak could have been brought back to life by a half decent vet, when we told the waitress we requested medium rare she got the chef to cook it some more and it came back no different. Our mixed grill was dry and tasteless, the best bit was the sausage which tasted like a Richmond. My partner didn’t even touch the fries because they tasted like washing up liquid. Initially I was excited to have a dessert but due to the main courses we quickly knocked it on the head. The best part of the meal was leaving. We were going to book for our anniversary in a couple of weeks but I’m glad we came tonight as I would probably end up single if I took my missus here for our anniversary. Won’t be coming here again.

Had a lovely meal. The oysters and muscles were fantastic. Also had pork belly and lamb cutlets...cooked to perfection. Side dishes also fantastic,the chargrilled buttered cabbage 😍. Great service. Friendly staff. I loved the range and flexibility of the menu. Definitely visiting again soon.

Fantastic place! The steak was beautiful, mac and cheese was gorgeous, sides were lovely. No fault with the service at all, very attentive and professional staff. Restaunt was clean and the atomsphere was amazing. Great experience! Thank you all :)

Stumbled across this fantastic hidden gem in Preston! Was our date night and a rare chance out. The service and food were spectacular. Staff friendly and helpful.

Came here again this year for our Christmas party. As usual the food and service was excellent. The roast potatoes are amazing. There were plenty of veggies, so much in fact that a "doggy bag" was taken home by a colleague who did not want them wasted. The menu choice was so good and was a change from boring turkey dinners served elsewhere. One criticism is that more bread is needed. One small slice of bread with the starters and the veggie stew is not enough. We could have asked for more and been given it but a hint for next year is to provide a basket of bread. Special thanks to Sarah for our puddings - you know why Sarah 😁

Didn't have what was advertised online. Waiting staff seemed disinterested in our complaint. Actually quoted terms and conditions. Really mis sold the evening. A shame because it seemed like a good place online.

What a fantastic spot in Preston for great food at really reasonable prices. I met a friend for Tapas on Tuesday and couldn't believe the quality and value. I had a large bowl of muscles that would have cost more for a main in many places! The staff were really great and attentive. I can't believe I've not been here before, will definitely be a regular visit now.

Service was okay. Food was very poor and overpriced. The sauce for the chicken was extremely watery and very bland. I ordered a pint of San Miguel on draft and it was the flattest pint I’ve ever had. The wine my wife had was watered down completely with ice. Would not go back and not recommend.

Excellent meal here as usual, fabulous quality at great prices and the staff are brilliant. My favourite place for oysters, steak and fish.

Accepted us as a last minute walk-in on a Saturday evening and did not disappoint! Me being the awkward vegan out of the group wasn’t quite sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of choices …including a ciabatta bread that may have changed my life . Highly recommended!

This was our first visit and we knew we'd like it as soon as we walked in. It's a small, intimate venue with a great atmosphere and fabulous food. Well stocked bar as you walk in then through to the restaurant. Even though it's small the tables are not squashed in so you have privacy. We had a booth which was perfect. Staff are friendly and attentive and most important, the food was amazing. We chose oysters which was a bit of a novelty, followed by the small plates. We had pork belly, burger, baked goats cheese with sides of wedges and rice. We will definitely go back and would highly recommend

Another amazing meal. This is the 2nd time in a month that I’ve been at Theatre Street Bar & Grill. This time for 241 Steaks midweek. I’m slowly making my way through the menu and deals & can’t wait for the next visit!

Absolutely dreadful, food was really poor. The burger, was dry and tasteless, service was prompt but not friendly. Meals were given to us in a negative manner, would not recommend, all 4 of us agreed the meals were below average.

This restaurant is consistently good and my latest visit didn’t disappoint with great service, delicious food with generous portions - all four of us only had praise for every single dish that we’d ordered - and a fine bottle of red in a lovely relaxed setting. I always find the prices very reasonable too. My only concern was that the restaurant was fairly quiet which seemed such a shame seeing as we were there at prime time at 7.30pm on a Saturday at the height of summer. I hope this place gets the custom and praise it so richly deserves.

Staff was lovely and seated us straight away and in no way am I blaming the waiters or lovely wattress we had . However we booked a table for 3 and straight away the chair I sat on my broken and we had to move the table so my mother in law could actually sit down as the table was crammed in the corner . We looked past that but then when ordering drinks we asked for a jug of water and the jar inside was covered in mold . I really wanted to say something but there was a big family sat to us eating and we didn’t want to create a scene but this completely put us off staying at the restaurant and eating as shows the hygeine in the kitchen really isn’t great . Put us all off completely so we had our drinks payed and left .

Gambas Pil Pil starter was a generous size and very nice. Fillet Steak for the main was cooked perfectly.

Went on a Tuesday lunch time, we all had different things from the tapas menu and could not fault a thing, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Was brilliant value as well, would pay a lot more for food that nowhere near as good this elsewhere, will definitely be back. If you are in the area you must visit, you will not be disappointed

We went for 9.95 tapas on a Tuesday. Excellent value for money and lovely setting. We will be back to try the other deals they have mid week!

What a great find on a Tuesday night in Preston! It’s Tapas night at Theatre Street Bar. A vibrant and buzzing atmosphere with a great selection of tapas. The Thai chicken and chorizo/cheese dip was superb. Congratulations to the owners/managers, serving and not least kitchen staff. Wishing you continued success

Visited here, expected it to be good, the chicken was nice, but very small and I don’t eat big portions. The fish was inedible, the wine was expensive and mediocre. Won’t be back.

My steak was cooked to perfection and couldn't have been happier when I cut my steak. Wasn't a big fan of the salt and pepper fries, as they were drenched in sauce in a bowl, but they were still interesting to have. Price was very good. I had the steak and a G&T plus peppercorn sauce, and two sides to accompany my steak, all in all £35 couldn't have been happier.

Everything was lovely and the deals they have are well worth it.

A great little eatery at the end of Theatre Street. The offers and choise is the best in Preston. The staff are friendly and attentive, lovely atmosphere and decor. Drink offers on some days.

Saw a sign on the high street saying £9.99 for 2 small plates and a side, so I came in and was plesently surprised how nice it was inside, and the food was excellent, much more than I thought I'd get and good quality! Great Merlot too. EXCELLENT VALUE!

I'll start by saying me and my husband have been a few times and always enjoyed. Our go to place when we sometimes go to Preston. The good points- starter was lovely mushrooms with garlic and chorizo can't fault it wish I'd ordered it twice...

Visited Theatre Street earlier in the week to celebrate our anniversary. I ordered the Fillet Steak, my partner had the Surf & Turf, both cooked excellently to our liking. We were really well looked after by the lady that served us, sorry I didn't ask her name. I had mentioned it was our anniversary on the booking and, to my surprise, they even brought out a complimentary dessert for us after our mains had been cleared. Will definitely visit again.

Went for valentines day 2022 and new years eve. They were really helpful catering for my boyfriends vegan diet and his food looked amazing as well. The staff are all really friendly and nice and it feels like such a nice vibe inside.

I heard so many good reports about this place, but was left a little disappointed with the service & some of the food, 2 of our party ordered fillet & when they brought them one was clearly a rump & not fillet, but they insisted it was right, but it clearly wasn't, one was clearly a fillet, you can tell the difference, but nothing was done about it, & the food came out in dribs & drabs,some of the sides came out first & mains a bit later, I waited a while for mine, meamwhile some of our party had almost finished, saying that the food was good, but improvement needed with the service, & staff should not be arguing about a steak,

Wow! What a lovely restaurant. The setting, the atmosphere, the staff, the food, all amazing. We were a party of 13 and the food was delicious, hot and served at suitable intervals. Sarah was really helpful when booking the meal and addressed any dietary requirements. All the staff were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back and try other dishes on the menu.

Informed by the staff that all food, steak, lamb, pork, chicken, fish & even halloumi cooked on the same grill. This cross contamination doesnt sound hygienic, religiously sensitive or good for the food flavour so shocked to see they claim a 5 star food hygenine rating, albeit 5 years old. This certainly didnt feel like the standard of place I used to visit on Theatre St years ago as whilst the food was passable, with many tweaks to the preparation, the service far below standard. This is the first place I havent tipped in the last 10 years +.

Excellent food and lovely little place give it a go you won't be dissapointed! We had the set menu excellent value for money plenty food all excellent quality and lovely staff. We have been before and always rated this place and this visit lived up...

The best place to eat in the city...well, it used to be..not as good any more

What a lovely place. I went with my daughter mid week and we were seated in a booth which was nice and cosy. The restaurant was busy with Christmas parties but it didn't feel too noisy and certainly didn't affect our food waiting times or the attentiveness of the staff. We ordered off the a la carte menu and it was delicious. Fab selection of wines and cocktails too. We'll definitely be back!!

We had a beautiful meal last night here. The staff were friendly and chatty, the ambience was very good and the food was plentiful and tasty. We shared 3 mixed plates of olives (more than we've ever had and they were beautiful), houmos and pitta...

If you want something different to the usual bog standard Christmas meals then try and book here. 12 of us came for our Christmas meal today and each one of us enjoyed our meal immensely. There was a very good choice to suit all tastes...
