We visited the Leyland Lion with family and friends we've been a few times before and it's been great sadly on this visit it wasn't.The pub was very busy which is fine as it was a Friday afternoon. We needed a table that seated five but struggled to get one. After a few minutes we manged to find one however the table was still full of empty plates and food.I went to the bar and politely asked a female staff member could someone please come and clear and clean our table. At the time she was tapping away on a tablet I assume sorting out app orders. The look she gave me was awful she didn't even reply just nodded her head in what looked like annoyance that I'd interrupted her or even asked. She did come to clean the table but her face was now like thunder.Me and my wife thanked her and again got no response then all the while we were in the pub spending a lot of money she just scowled in our direction. This won't stop us visiting the pub in the future but staff need to learn to be polite. One more point is I understand it was busy but having worked a lot in pubs myself in the past there's nothing worse than saying to customers Who's next this just causes friction staff should be actually clocking who's next??..

We used to use this 'Spoons regularly, but it has really gone down hill. I popped in for a breakfast today to kill time, and I now wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered a Small American Breakfast and every item on the plate was luke warm. I would have complained, but I just couldn't be bothered. When I finished the meal, I pushed the plate to the side, and it was collected promptly, but here's the worst bit! The waitress couldn't even be bothered to ask me if I had enjoyed my breakfast. Of course, I was ready with a " No, it was cold!", but I wasn't even given the opportunity to say it. I won't be back any time soon. Wetherspoons Leyland, you have lost a customer!

This pub is a typical spoons but with some interesting additional featues that celebrate the towns motor manufacturing heritage. You can sit in bus seats and enjoy the many photographs and wall art that pay homage to the motor industry. Toilets are upstairs, there is a good outside area to the rear (complete with old red phone box) but no parking on site. The pub is pretty big so you should not have much trouble with being accommodated. Watch out for the usual unbeatable offers of a drink with you meal. We all had something different and was happy with our choices!.

Very good choices on drinks be alcoholic or not with an extensive food menu that is keenly priced to suit all pockets. Noticed several elderly couples drinking limitless coffee, drinkers enjoying cheap ales and families seated enjoying their meals. Today’s offerings were the curry club with drinks included in the total price, slightly more cost for garlic naans and bowl of chips. Ok meals of tikka masala and vindalo curries with rice and popadoms not overly large but decent mix of curry to rice.

Terrible service had to wait 16 minutes for drinks to arrive via the app and then only when I complained, the app said 3 minute wait time. Absolutely awful service

We've tried so many places that boast about their food and service. Inevitably they fall flat on their faces. This place, although "no frills" does not make these boasts.Whether it's burgers, steak & kidney pudding, pizza or mixed grill, the quality and flavour is always reliable. Service has always been very good and drinks prices and choice are excellent.

A busy Saturday afternoon and once again we chose the burgers from the menu. Again, nicely cooked and extremely tasty. Both restaurant and bar staff are friendly and service is good. Prices are extremely competitive.

Jonno had the usual, buttermilk washed down successfully by 4 pints of carling, amazing. William polished off his burger too. He was ecstatic! He was flying around like he was on a pill. Lovely succulent chicken and the chips were light and fluffy like a bensons for beds pillow! The rest of the boys were on the bevs. Hazza had 7, kicked off with ponytail, fists thrown, had to take it outside. Paggered. Kian was gone, got on table and started the bounce. Scenes. Dark fruits everywhere. Great afternoon and thanks for the staff for the lovely visit as usual. #allspoonsarewe

Not gonna lie but this place just doesn’t fail to hit the spot ever. We make our pilgrimage each Tuesday and the charm and character of the place is only surpassed by the excellent food and service. Being no stranger to a Wetherspoons I can safely say this establishment is comfortably within the top 45 I’ve visited. Special note to pony tail man and woman who works behind bar for their excellent service and cracking memories. Keep up the good work lads.

Here again in the Leyland Lion. Can't understand why they don't sell abbot ale inferior ales for nearly the same price. In today business meeting. The Greene King rep came in and asked the manager why they don't sell Abbot ale.I was very close, think the guy was called Mark. He said it was too expensive (£2.59) and had at least half a barrel left every time they had it on. I know a lot of people in Leyland, many don't go in because of the manager they don't give them the choice of Abbot ale.Anyway everytime I have been in when Abbot is on and not Abbot reserve it is sold out, so tell me why?So please Mr Martin why force your loyal customers in Leyland to inferior ales??????

Very similar to all Wetherspoon places, but would say it's definitely 1 of the better ones. Uses the Leyland motor theme with is nice. Standard menu for chain, so plenty of selection of pub grub, with cheap drinks.

I am not a lover of Wetherspoons because they have too many rules and regulations. I have crossed swords a few times in different venues all run by the aforementioned, never had a problem anywhere else. This is a very large main room with an outdoor area with tables, toilets are upstairs. The food is excellent and at an affordable price to all. There is plenty of seating and except at very busy periods you can sit in comfort without a problem. When it is busy because of the set up of the room it is bedlam. To conduct a conversation is nearly impossible.

It might be a wetherspoons, but is more like a local pub on the high street. The staff are great and very helpful. The food is excellent and service great.

Me and my Mrs love the breakfasts here, lots of coffee options also, but not many variations of tea. Had a few meals here and it's never been bad and the beer and the ales are massive, beers from all over the world and real ale. The place looks nice inside and has a good outside area in the back which is well designed. Won't be long til I'm back in

6 of us went for curry night.Price is good as usual and with a pint. Not all had curry but all enjoyed their meals.Well worth it and quite tasty for pub curries. Lots on plate and tasted good quality with plenty of chicken.Only downside was last meal arrived after 2 people had already finished theirs.

What a delightful venue for a Wetherspoons, sympathetically decorated to reflect its history with lots of interesting and informative plaques and pictures. The Leyland Lion, coded as PSR1, was a bus chassis manufactured by Leyland as its first production rear engined single decker. A total of 88 were built between 1960 and 1967, which was low for the time. It was the third of five Leyland bus models to carry the Lion brand.Usual excellent quality and value, enjoyed a Valentines breakfast with added extra, black pudding.

Love coming here, it's a short walk from our house so has become the go-to for tea with the girls/family/drinks etc, we've been in countless times and never had a bad meal, all the staff are lovely, especially Bev who is always cheerful, smiling and very friendly. Went for the steak for the first time here (I usually go for the chicken burrito which is excellent) 2 of us had the Steak Club offer of a steak each and a bottle of wine, my sirloin was gorgeous, cooked to perfection and came with chips, peas, mushroom and tomato, paid an extra couple of pounds for a stilton and a peppercorn sauce, also delicious. Prompt service, definitely above average pub grub. Keep up the good work Wetherspoons!

When exhausted through keeping pace with grandchildren preparing a meal can be rather daunting BUT this is when we are rescued by the Lion of Leyland! Steak night or Fish night are my favourites! The Windermere Pale ale another essential.

Called in weekend before Christmas. Place was very busy but we snagged a table. We always go for the traditional breakfast. It's about £3 and represents very good value for money. The young fella behind the bar couldn't manage a smile but the young lady who brought our food couldn't have been more pleasant. If ever we fancy a cooked brekkie it's usually here we choose. Based on last visit that will continue.

My friends and I went to the Leyland Lion for lunch after a morning working out at the gym. we were delighted with the menu that was varied and included calories alongside every dish. The food was well cooked, fresh and affordable The staff are charming and the atmosphere in the Lion is great - lots of people - lots of chatter the place was buzzing. A great asset to the town.

It is unusual for us to end up at a Yates’s on Monday in Blackpool, Wetherspoons on Wednesday in Manchester and Wetherspoons in Leyland on Friday. It is just how it worked out this week with organising visits to places in the area for associations I belong to. We have enjoyed Fish Day at other Wetherspoons pubs and this one didn't disappoint. There was a decent size piece of battered fish served with chips and mushy peas and at £6.25 including a drink was good value. The service was slower than usual but the waiter was pleasant. We went with my husband’s sister and her husband and I have probably found Wetherspoons some new customers as they enjoyed the meal.

Fantastic place for celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. Superb service matched the equally superb food. First time dining here and very pleasantly surprised. You wouldn't expect to to be where it is, or for it to be so lovely inside. Great choices on the menu and specials. Very tasty and well presented food. We will definitely be back!

I visited on October 31st and had a fantastic experience. The restaurant had a great balance of tables—plenty of open seating, yet still lively with other patrons. The environment was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the start. The food was delicious, with each dish showing quality ingredients and careful preparation. The flavors were delightful, and everything arrived at just the right temperature. The staff truly stood out for their politeness and attentiveness. They made sure our needs were met promptly without being intrusive, contributing to a seamless dining experience. Overall, a wonderful visit that I would highly recommend!

Went here as part of a large coach party, they were very organised and provided waiter service. There was a choice of three starters/mains & puddings all of which looked lovely and my choices and those of my party were lovely. Good service all over.

Great food and excellent service. Food cooked to order , staff were excellent nothing to much trouble. Before we ordered we were advised , that there may be a slight delay and to larger group had ordered before us. With this in mind our food came quickly .
