Had the most delicious Sunday lunch. One of the best we have had followed by fruit crumble and custard. Also delicious. Staff were really attentive and so friendly. Lovely farm shop too with fabulous variety of local produce. Definitely will go back again.

Ok atmosphere and friendly staff with a tasty beer and average food. My big annoyance is the food was massively overpriced for the quality, there wasn't a lot of choice, don't think vegetarians are well catered for and I chose a Cumberland sausage with mash and caramelised onion gravy. It came with a weak gravy with onions in it and two fairly cheap tasting small sausages. The website pictures show something very different and it certainly isn't what I would expect a Cumberland sausage to be. Perhaps this is a trivial point but for nearly £20 I guess I would have hoped for better.

We were there at the weekend for afternoon cream tea for 4 - which needed 2 days booking in advance. The pictures on their website looked exquisite, and having eaten lunch here 3 times before (all of which would get a 5* review), I was sadly disappointed. The sandwiches felt as if they had been made in advance and the bread dry on top, earl grey and camomile tea was not included in the price so we paid extra for this. 2 of us had an extra cup of coffee which we were charged extra for (despite the fact that the 2 ordering and paying for the tea had not been given their coffee). I do feel we were overcharged for the extra's - in effect £12 for a cup of Earl grey and a cup of camomile. Given that the restaurant also got a comment about being stingy on the drinks on the 24th May I think this is something they could look at further, and I feel the marketing and presentation on the website increased expectations to what was actually presented to us. I will be back - I love the terrace and usually love the food, however I do not feel the afternoon tea worth the anticipation and would rather go for the lunch menu. The staff were lovely and this has no reflection on them.

We met up with friends from a nearby village to Kirkby Stephen. The Hunter’s Chicken was very tasty with just the right combination of cheese and bacon on top. The Landlord beers were very good. The ladies both had fish and chips. The only minor quibble was that both left their mushy peas as they thought they tasted odd. Perhaps they are just done to a different recipe.

I guess I’m going to have to recalibrate my expectations. £14 for a breakfast consisting of 2 halves of a tomato, a soggy mushroom, a cup of beans, two small bits of bacon, a rather solid hash brown and two thin sausages. Oh and a coffee thrown in. Sausages were tasty enough but the rest was average at best. To me the rather large pieces of tomato were plate fillers. I also got a roll rather than the sourdough on offer. But roll was too floury.

We visited for a brunch during a 4 day trip to Whinfell Forest (2 adults and 1 toddler). We were greeted right away by a friendly member of staff and shown to our table right away. Our server was quick to introduce themselves and take our drinks order and clearly noticed we were trying to get the little one settled and gave us ample time to then have a look over the menu. We ordered a large apple juice, large coke and a kids strawberry milkshake which arrived quickly. The Strawberry Milkshake wasn't that great and our little one wasn't that keen on it. We went for the Saviury French Toast Breakfast, Sweet French toast with berries and cream and the kids Pancakes with fruit and honey. The food arrived quickly and was nice with no complaints from anyone. The price, as with all of the eating establishments is a tad pricey but overall it was a pleasant experience and we would likely revisit during any future stays.

We ate here on our first of two nigths staying at the next door Ullswater Inn in Glenridding. The Orangery is a beautiful room. It is spacious. with nice views out. They could have crammed more tables in, but they haven't which gives the dining experience a lovely ambience. The service was very good. So why only an average rating? It's because we didn't feel the food was better than average. We started by sharing foccacia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For £7.50 we got two small pieces of average foccacia with a very vinegary dip. It wasn't good and even it had been it wouldn't have been worth it. For main course, one of us had steak and ale pie with seasonal veg and mash with gravy. The steak and ale pie looked like it had been bought in with 1/3 of it served up to us. It looked twice baked. The meat was soft enough but verging on a mush in parts. It tasted reasonable but was not really flavoursome enough, The brocolli and cauliflower were both overcooked. Our other dish was vegan broad bean and pea burger with chips. The 'burger' was a little mushy with a mild flavour. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here much more than at the next door Ullswater Inn and the price was similar. However, we felt that it would and should have been so much better if the food had been better.

Fantastic weekend away at The Lounge. Great location and parking really close by for such a central location. Staff were really friendly and the place had a really relaxed atmosphere. Food in the bar restaurant was excellent and the cocktails in the evening were really good as previous reviews suggest. Breakfast was also excellent in choice and quality. We liked the swipe access side entrance so you didn’t have to walk through the bar restaurant going in and out throughout the stay. Cleaning staff were really friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Very good value for money and we would definitely return.

Got a set mael for two. Ordered Saturday 21st September at 16:48, delivered at 17:07 allthough when ordering instructions were 55 mins wait time for delivery. On delivery it was obvious that the food had been reheated, most probably left overs from the previous day. I'm far from happy as this is supposed to be the best Curry house in Penrith. Once bitten twice shy. I will not be ordering again, everything went in the bin.
