An afternoon tea booked at Cafe Rouge during our umpteenth visit to Centerparcs at Whinfell Forest. Kris, our server was fantastic. We’d asked if it was possible to have more savoury dishes than cakes and Kris made arrangements for us to have extra croque monsieur and croque champignon in place of the sweet cakes. It was a wonderful treat after our morning at the spa. Very attentive and friendly service. First class.

Stayed for 2 nights over Easter weekend, great location for walking through the Pennines with lovely scenery. Carole and Michael were great hosts offering excellent food and service. Highly recommend for a Sunday roast with one of the local beers.

Just love the King’s Head on our recent wet, windy & wild trip to Ravenstonedale during storm warnings. So friendly, kind, warm and food was fantastic. Can’t wait to visit again. Can just sit & relax (and dry out) by a roaring fire for as long as you like, enjoy music with delicious dinner or just have drinks. Really well priced and generous proportions. Highly recommend.

Absolute gem of a find. A good old fashioned pub with great home made food, a lovely fire and fantastic hospitality. This place goes above and beyond anything you'd expect. Really busy for a Wednesday afternoon but staff were friendly and smiley the whole time. Cannot recommend highly enough. Added bonus of being dog friendly and 2 mins from A66.

I think 1 star is very generous to this business. Stopped by the Mulberry Bush Café for a quick bite on the way home—big mistake. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a swarm of flies, which should have been the first red flag. Instead of turning around, we decided to order takeaway. That was our second mistake. We ordered a Chicken & Bacon Panini, a BLT, and two portions of Halloumi & Bacon Fries. What we received was an absolute disgrace. The fries were topped with a pathetic scattering of bacon and three tiny, burnt scraps of halloumi—if you could even call it that. The BLT was an insult to sandwiches everywhere: thick, dry bread, a full half of a tomato just plonked in, and a measly single strip of bacon per half. The salad? Chopped into huge, unappetizing chunks—though, to be fair, the 10 nachos dumped on top were the only remotely edible part of the meal. And then there was the panini. If you enjoy the taste of pure grease with zero seasoning or flavor, this one’s for you. It was so drenched in oil it could have been wrung out like a dishcloth. For nearly £30, this was beyond unacceptable. A complete waste of money on food that felt more like a punishment than a meal. Avoid this place at all costs.

Me and my partner visited on a Wednesday night whilst in the area. We pre-booked, however this wasn’t necessary as there was only us and another couple in the restaurant. Despite the restaurant being empty, the food was nice and came out in a timely manner. The staff were also friendly. We felt the restaurant was a little expensive with fajitas being around £17. Overall, we would recommend the restaurant and would return if in the area.

A crowd of us had booked in for breakfast. I chose the breakfast hash which was outstanding. I’ve dishes like that before which have been underwhelming but this was so tasty with bits of chorizo, black pudding and haggis plus other bits and a perfectly cooked poached egg
