The Lounge Hotel and Bar in Eden

Fantastic weekend away at The Lounge. Great location and parking really close by for such a central location. Staff were really friendly and the place had a really relaxed atmosphere. Food in the bar restaurant was excellent and the cocktails in the evening were really good as previous reviews suggest. Breakfast was also excellent in choice and quality. We liked the swipe access side entrance so you didn’t have to walk through the bar restaurant going in and out throughout the stay. Cleaning staff were really friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Very good value for money and we would definitely return.

Me my husband and daughter went for afternoon tea for a birthday treat but was far from a treat, rolls with cold sausage and smothered in Branson pickle are not acceptable for afternoon tea , none of us like pickle , the quiche was like scrambled egg smothered in mustard, vile, the cakes were like airport food out of a packet, so disappointing it was for a birthday which ended up spoiling the whole day due to feeling poorly the rest of the night after only eating one roll and small piece of cheesecake. The majority of the platter was left but nobody asked if everything was ok, we asked for mayo but still waiting, nobody came to ask us about coffee or tea we had to approach the bar staff, our plates weren’t cleared away , full plates I should add, we found the whole experience awful and we will not be returning, disgusting food, disgusting service.

Okay food but portions quite small , service was great and attentive , not a lot of atmosphere as place was so quiet but that’s not their fault, would defo return to try a cocktail they looked amazing

Arrived at the lounge car park.great. Hotel directed to our room ,no 14..lovely big modern room , Bathroom... No shelves to put toiletries on ,had a bath just warm. Tepid water,shower amazing . Bedroom .... No coat pegs to hand coats ,tea tray in wardrobe had to move put on dressing table.. Not enough coat hangers. But...a lovely spacious room,warm even with window open,comfy bed and pillows,good selection of teas and coffees,on tea tray,a nice touch with the added bonus of a expresso machine in room. Breakfast..bloody lovely,lots of choice ,freshly cooked,good selection of fruit,yogurts and cereal..Good coffee,friendly staff, chatty,attentive. Lunch...fantastic fish finger bap and salad, Friends and hubby had burgers and chips and all enjoyed. A good reasonable priced establishment ..we will visit again. 4 and twenty restaurant across road from hotel amazing too.

Myself and my husband stayed for the weekend. We were welcomed by friendly staff and checked in quickly. Our room was deluxe king room with a bath tub in and was all very clean, spacious. The bed was really comfortable. We had dinner the first night which was served fast and was hot, again service was very friendly. We had a great night sleep. The next morning we had breakfast with plenty of options to chose from. The service was once again extremely friendly and welcoming. The parking is just behind the hotel, with an alley way leading to the street at the front. Overall our stay was fantastic and we will definitely stay here again!

Visited the lounge for cocktails 2 weeks ago. Very disappointing experience. We had 2 cocktails priced at over £16 for the two . The bar person making the drinks was texting on her phone while making my drinks while I waited which was rude and irritating. The drinks she produced were underwhelming. No garnish whatsoever. I had a pornstar no passion fruit floating or anything and no Prosecco shot it’s definitely gone down hill . Won’t be returning anytime soon .

Stayed here for one night, very happy with our stay. Room was clean , food was great also. The service was excellent! Would definitely return ☺️

Location is the best. Very central. But the room on the attic floor was really bad. There was ni ventilation and No Windows other than a small roof window. In bad weather it would be rain on your bed, and it needs to be open. I believe they missed out the ventilation

I visited the lounge bar with my son on Friday 27/4/25 for dinner bed and breakfast as we were on our way to scarborough on Saturday morning our room was lovely spotlessly clean so big thank you to the husband and wife team who are in charge of the rooms our breakfast and dinner was delicious a big thank you to chef and all staff who looked after us. We also stayed on our way back and we were upgraded to the 3 bedroom apartment it was a great surprise it was perfectly cleaned to a very high standard and again great food thank you all at the lounge bar penrith we are already booked for next year.

Just the best place to stay in penrith! Wonderful rooms kept beautifully by Dawn and Co. Fantastic atmosphere, lovely food, Great cocktails! Staff are friendly and efficient. A real treat to stay here. Absolutely faultless! Sir Anthony.

Called in for a birthday treat. To be left feeling let down. The service was very poor. They had lack of interest in us and did not ask if food was ok. We didn't even get offered a dessert as they didn't come to clear the plates. Just felt like we were an inconvenience. Shame as i have been here a number of times and enjoyed it.

The best Sunday dinner ever. No other words needed but I can’t leave a review unless I do 72 characters. Make sure your appetite is good because this lunch will blow your mind.

Piccolo Hotel tipico inglese, situato sopra un bar-ristorante. La nostra camera era pulita, luminosa, dotata del necessario, letti comodi, wi-fi ben funzionante. Nonostante fosse sopra il bar non si sentivano rumori, tutto tranquillo. La colazione viene servita su ordinazione, a scelta tra varie tipologie oltre a quella full english. Non c'è possibilità di parcheggiare in strada sotto l'hotel, ma se fate il giro dell'isolato sul retro c'è un parcheggio con i posti riservati, poi si raggiunge l'hotel a piedi da una stradina che passa sotto il portico. Personale gentile.

We didn't have a great stay at this hotel. When we first arrived we had no idea where to park. Turns out you need to go around the back and then carry all your luggage down a dodgy looking alleyway back round to the front. We arrived on a Saturday evening after a long trip. You have to walk in the front bar area, which is very busy and noisy - There is no separate entrance. This is very much a bar with a few rooms, not a hotel with a bar. We were greated with a smile and the staff were friendly. The room was stifling and smelled funky. When we opened the windows we were greated with the sounds and smells of the smoking area right beneath our window, which was noisy with people shouting and swearing until very late. Then early in the morning there were staff/deliveries etc, so we didn't sleep well. We had to wear earplugs. We couldn't hear the bar downstairs, however. The hotel looked stunning from the photos, but it did not live up to expectations at all. The rooms was dark, smelly and dingy. The tea/coffee facilities were the bear minimum and all the lovely adornments from the photos were missing. I think we left more tired than when we arrived. The only redemption is that the staff were lovely and the breakfast was tasty. I'll admit, that this is partially my fault for not researching the area better and for booking a place in the centre of town, but even with that in mind it was still oversold.

Lovely boutique hotel. Nice decor in the bar restaurant and comfortable rooms. Food definitely worth booking to get a table. Best if all Staff were wonderful and friendly

Stayed here as a stop over for 1 night. Room was ok, clean a little dusty, when we first arrived it smelt like smoke, likely because the window was open and smokers outside. It was also quite hot in the room. But considering that it was a Friday night the noise wasn’t too bad. We went down for a drink which were good. Breakfast the next morning was a little slow and the staff were ok, part of my breakfast was forgotten, but nice either way. There was also an already open packet of biscuits in the room when we arrived. In the end did it’s job and could have stayed worse places and some improvements could be made.

Long to serve and tastless. Lazy presentstion. The food truely sucks here. Avoid at all costs for lunch. And for some reason best known only to this establishment there is always some weird dude with green hair stood at the bar rocking on his feet like an out of work Rocky Horror Show extra. I heard a number of other guests mention it. He has to go. Decor gawdy and over the top. Just moved to area and won’t be back. Much better out there in Penrith.

So, I've waited nearly a week to decide If I want to write this review and I'm still bothered by our last visit so here it is. We've had some fabulous food and great service here in the past and to be fair when the food eventually arrived it was delicious. We ordered two small plates with one portion of salt and pepper fries at 3.50. My other half went to extend the car parking and I was worried the food might be here before he got back but no. Great so we had time to have a drink and a chat. 4.15 no food still OK (at this point I have to say it was virtually empty so no kitchen rush) 4.30 still no food so I very politely asked a member of staff to check as we had an appointment at 5pm. There was no apology but she said she would check.....4.40 still no food and she had not returned to update us so I had to go back to the bar yer again and time was running out...I bumped into her and again no apology 5 mins she says. 4.46 our food arrived NO EXPLANATION NO APOLOGY!!!!!...I then asked why the delay and she replied kitchen had lots of checks....so so not true!!!! But our drinks were to be taken off our bill... We are all human guy's, patently something had gone wrong with our order. Please do not lie or avoid telling your customers the truth as nine times out of ten they will understand ad they are human too. The result was we threw our lovely food down at top speed...we were late for our appointment and we won't ever eat here again.

Lovely place, very good rooms & walk in shower. I loved the menu choices & small plates with top cocktails. The breakfast choices were really good with some unusual choices but i really enjoyed it

We three were walk-ins at THE LOUNGE in King Street, Penrith, at 13h20 on Thursday 23rd March. The restaurant was quite full. We were very warmly welcomed by all of the front of house staff and shown to a comfortable table. The menu is excellent and eclectic with many imaginative and interesting Eastern and tapas dishes. Prices were incredibly reasonable - about £10 each dish. We chose well - two had prawn satay dishes and I had Bao Bao buns with prawns. Everyone was delighted with our tasty dishes which were served very promptly. Go there and enjoy! We’ll go again. We left The Lounge very happy and would go there again. How lucky we were, and richer, to have been rejected by something called a Quota at the pretentious restaurant opposite.

Had the most gorgeous meal here, drinks were lovely, especially the pornstar martini (I've had many that are not!) The service was really good too, nice relaxed atmosphere 👌 would highly recommend 👌 👍

I booked what I thought was a romantic meal for two, unfortunately we were seated in a very busy part of the pub, it was like eating a meal in the middle of a disco. Last time we were at the front of the pub which is much more suitable for dining. Food wasn't great, soggy overcooked chips, the burger meat wasnt nice, all washed down by flat lukewarm prosecco. Disappointing.

Este hotel era encantador y no se le puede reprochar. Era cómodo, muy limpio y el baño era muy bonito. El personal fue muy amable y el desayuno fue absolutamente increíble! Sólo estuvimos una noche y fue a mediados de semana. La razón por la que solo hemos dado 4 estrellas es que afuera hacía mucho ruido y alguien estaba enfermo en la acera y el estacionamiento estaba bastante lejos cuando tienes maletas pesadas.

A wonderful welcome to the north with friendly staff, good service and delicious free mint fudge with the tea. The house wine could have been better.

Stayed three nights. Very clean room, comfy bed, superb friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere, brilliant cocktails. Very well run hotel and bar, can't wait to return.

Stopped off here overnight on the way home from scotland. Lovely room and great Bar and Food. Very good value, excellent central location.

Good choice of food and extensive drinks menu. Very attentive staff but no face coverings in evidence, social distancing limited due to it being busy and noisy so people closer than 1m in public spaces but tables were spaced out and contact details were taken.

Stayed here last month for two nights. The room and bathroom were spotless. The staff were very helpful, and we were made to feel very welcome.

Great bar to meet your friends, have a couple of drinks and eat from a good selection of burgers/tapas and other good honest food cooked to perfection.

Visited the lounge with a couple of friends while back visiting and how downhill the customer service has gone. No check-back on the meal, no offer of any condiments, my friend had to get up and order extra drinks at the bar even after numerous staff had walked passed, she was then blatantly ignored as the staff stood around on their phones and had to interrupt them to place an order, we had to wait 20 minutes plus for a dessert order to be taken, again when staff were just stood around and eating their own lunch in the bar, all be it an empty bar which made all this waiting more frustrating as they clearly were not run off their feet. Not great at all and that includes the food since changing their menu. I’ve also attached photos of how empty the bar was and staff behind the bar.

Called in for lunch as staying with friend in my home town of Penrith. Good ambience and found an empty table by the window. Staff lovely and friendly, food and drink ordered at the table. Both came very quickly , drinks cold food hot. Good sized portions and fresh chips not the usual frozen very unusual these days!Lovely food great ambience do try if in Penrith!

We booked a table for 8 people at 5.15 pm on a Tuesday and we had all pre-ordered. The food was brought but at no point did anyone come back to check that everything was ok and if we required something else. We all would have ordered another drink should we have been asked. Before the meal I had been to the bar to ask a question and was greeted by a half sigh! When I took the payment to the bar the waitress took it off me and walked away without saying a word or even a smile. I appreciate the waitress was young but it is basic manners to at least acknowledge you have been handed something.The service really wasn't good enough and not to check back is not acceptable. There was only a sprinkling of other customers in at the time

Fantastic choice on gins, and cocktails, vast food choice, bar staff efficient as it can get very busy food is excellent

I dropped in at 6.30pm on a Friday night with 3 friends and no booking. Only looking for a pre dinner drink and it was recommended as a nice place to go. Got sorted with a table and drinks in no time. Great atmosphere and reasonable priced drinks would have kept us but we had to go. Went back on Saturday night instead. Super friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a good bar scene.

All the staff very helpful, lovely surroundings, excellent food. Highly recommend to anyone who either wants a quiet drink or a meal.

Todo lo que teníamos era georgous, bien preparado y había un montón de cosas para nuestro grupo. . . . . . y por solo 12. 50 por cabeza. Nos detuvimos en este alojamiento durante nuestro reciente viaje de John O’Groats to Lands End y qué lugar tan agradable y acogedor. The Lounge Hotel is situated in the centre of Penrith. We had an evening meal and drinks. The food was of a very good quality and there was a wide choice of drinks. The staff were very attentive and helpful and overall the experience was very pleasurable. I would strongly recommend The Lounge as a place to eat and drink in Penrith

We visited early on a Sunday evening. It was reasonably busy but was able to get a table. There was live music on which stopped around 7pm, however it is refreshing to hear live music as not many places tend to do it.

Great food and great atmosphere. Service good, nice comfy place, you may need to book for food as this place fills up.

We had a lovely meal, they were very kind as two of us are disabled and one lady without hands, we all enjoyed the meal, we had a variety of food and everything was well cooked and tasty

Can not recommend this place highly enough. Booked the party tapas package for my daughters hen do. Service was amazing and the food was so tasty, we were all bowled over with the choice of dishes including vegetarian and gluten free dishes . Will definitely return.

Been here many times in the past but not for some time. Thought it had changed hands as it looked and felt a little tired. Staff very nice food dissapointing. Decor looked shabby very dirty menus and very very dirty scruffy drinks menus on the tables this is just not acceptable, didn’t like to touch them. Gave it a unkempt look run down look. Tables looking shabby scratched. Won’t be going back food expensive for small portions.

Nice bar we always enjoy our visit here, good food and cocktails, it’s as good as you get in my home town, will be back again soon (make sure you book a table though) as it’s a very busy place at times

We’ve visited this bar before but only for drinks. Very well presented bar with lots of plush seating areas, sofas and bar stools.

Reservamos una mesa en la mañana para NYE. Llegó bang en el tiempo. Sentados en una mesa y en un menú dado - un menú fijo que nunca se mencionó cuando reservé la mesa. Pero hey ho. Todos los platos principales parecían ser hamburguesas. Mi esposa iba a tener un entrante como plato principal. Nos sentamos y nos sentamos y nos sentamos. Las camareras retrocedieron y nos adelantaron. No vino a tomar una orden o una orden de bebidas. 20 minutos después nos dimos por vencidos y nos fuimos. Fui a otro lado y les di mis 90.

Nos alojamos en Penrith por una noche, así que decidí darle una oportunidad a este hotel. La ubicación es ideal, a solo un corto paseo para estar justo en el centro de la ciudad. El aparcamiento está a unos 100 m. Un montón, lo que para un hotel en Penrith no es tan común.

Nos alojamos en el hotel, que era básico. Desafortunadamente, las alarmas de incendio nos despertaron las mañanas debido a las tostadas quemadas en la sala de desayunos. No entiendo cómo sucedió esto las mañanas, ¿arregla la tostadora? ? !

We popped in on a Saturday lunchtime for a quick lunch. Food menu is very interesting and not usual pub/bar food. Food brought out quickly and was excellent. Nice place inside. Feels private although it’s quite open. Probably the hilariously big chairs!

Iv'e been here a couple of times. Had afternoon tea which I thoroughly enjoyed and it was a very good price. I decided to go for lunch with my other half the other week and the food was nice but I had the buttermilk crispy chili chicken which was served with rice, the sauce was yummy but I found it to much with just rice, some salad or veg would of gone well with it. I really liked the pear and passion cocktail it was delicious.

Finding this Hotel and in particular the parking proved time consuming. A small frontage to the place provided the first problem and we stopped in an M&S; rear car park to ask directions. Eventually we found a large car park at the rear of The Hotel. It was untidy and littered with broken bottles; we parked but with a degree of trepidation! Entering The Hotel it appeared dark and shabby. After a long drive we decided to 'bite the bullet' and stay the one night planned.

The accommodation is more than adequate with a nice cooked breakfast. A great Gin Bar downstairs with helpful staff. I would stay again.

For us an unusual menu , it was wonderful, I would like to explore it some more. Duck Bee Hoon, very much enjoyed.

We called in on spec for lunch, this was a great surprise, the place is great inside modern quirky, a nice greeting on arrival and shown to table quickly. Drink order taken quickly and food order soon after.

On a quiet Tuesday night, a friend and I visited this place and we had a really nice expericne. The tapas food was lovely, the room was big and plenty of seating. The staff were really friendly and one of the main reasons I will be back to try more food!

Great choice of tapas (even for vegans!) and drinks. We really enjoyed the food and some portions were quite large! Would definitely recommend 😁

We’ve walked past so many times, I’ve heard that people I know have been and enjoyed the food here, but, never been in myself....until today! I treated my children to afternoon tea and it was lovely, we all really enjoyed it, excellent value too. The staff were all really friendly and the atmosphere felt really nice, we’ll definitely be back

We were visitng friends in Pooley Bridge so we stopped over in the Lounge for one night. The room was clean and very nice. The decor in the Lounge bar and lounge area was very chic and welcoming. Breakfast the next morning which was delicious.

If you are looking for a decent cup of coffee then this is the place to go. They use Farrers of Kendal coffee to their own blend and it is always hot not like some places in town, plus they throw in a free scone before 1100 hrs. The staff are always pleasant and friendly. Give it a try.

Visited on. Sunday afternoon and stayed for the live music. Great. Menu had changed since I last visited I was a bit disappointed I could have sweet Potato fries or a burger as none were gluten free. However, I had grilled chicken new potatoes and salad which was lovely. My friend had a fabulous fish finger sandwich which was amazing, the prosecco was gorgeous.

Called here for a late lunch with my wife the place has a really nice feel about it and found the staff to be very nice. Ordered a couple of bottles of beer when the glasses came one had lipstick on and the other was chipped. Pointed this out and the girl was horrified bless her and replaced them straight away. Ordered a goats cheese salad which was massive and really good, also calamari which was very nice, massive olives and fish also good. Would return without question.

We've been here a few times and the food has always been very good as well as the service.

Ate here because we stayed at lounge hotel,, the staff were great as we were late arriving,, they kept kitchen open to do us some food,, all 6 of us had the all day burger with skinny fries to keep things simple and the food was good. Prices were ok,, but the staff were fab,, and the whole place is top notch,, if ever I’m In Penrith again this is definitely where I’ll be stopping,,,, I would highly recommend.

We booked a table for two for a Saturday night and I do advise to book in advance as there were no free tables!

We have eaten at the Lounge a lot and found it always to be delicious, fresh, quick and good value. We ate there tonight and it is like being in a different restaurant - the food is shockingly awful. Probably one of the worst meals we have ever had anywhere. It took ages to arrive and when it did we really wished it hadn't. We had a lobster platter which was a joke for the price - a tiny dried up half of the smallest lobster with two completely dried prawns and soggy chips covered in a bland sauce. The meat platter was no better - all completely dried up and tasteless with one slice of salami, one roll of ham, something on a stick which vaguely tasted like lamb and some dried, solid pork cubes.. I watched the food going out to other tables and it is all brown and looks bought in and simply heated up. It looks like a cost cutting exercise where all the lovely fresh food they used to make seems to have disappeared completely. The only thing that remains is the lovely staff who were incredibly apologetic and seemed frankly embarrassed. They used to seem to happy and pleased to be serving good food, now they look harassed and frankly depressed as we were on leaving. Please go back to what you were so good at and have tables full of happy people eating great food again instead of a sea of brown! Until then we sadly won't be back.

You can’t go wrong in the Lounge! Great food, drinks and atmosphere make it the best place to go in Penrith!

Staff are brilliant they work so hard and are so courteous with nothing been too much trouble.Food is fantastic book a table so not to be dissapointed .Defo highly recommend.

Last evening my daughter and myself visited the Lounge for food and I must say aswell as the food being very good , the staff were so efficient! One waitress was very busy and still pleasant and the waiter was brilliant. Well done The Lounge for finding such good workers.

I visit Penrith once a month for work and every time i will go to The Lounge for food. Very good choice and good vegetarian choices( some of my friends are vegetarians) good service and very friendly staff

The food here is to die for. We couldn’t decide on starters, as the menu is so huge, so we went for around 6 different dishes between four of us. Would recommend the corn nachos & the halloumi skewers.

Great food, loads of choice. Good Gluten free options. Less noisy if sit at front of restaurant. MUST book for weekends, can be full by 6pm. Huge choice of cocktails. Great for food or just a drink, or just a coffee during the day. Service can be slow simply because they get so busy. Quieter during the day.

Definitely grab food here if you can, its superb, we had a lovely time here drinking cocktails and enjoying a meal, it was really busy with loads of atmosphere so make sure you book a table, the staff are sooooo wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for them, thy make you feel as though you are the only customer. I have not enjoyed a night out so much in years.. Thank you xxxx
