Stayed in the hotel. This review is about their dinner menu and the room. Poor selection of food. I was forced to eat fish and chips. I am not a fan of fish and chips. I hope they increase the food selection to decent options. Not everyone eats burgers and pizzas and fish and chips. Some people need quality food to thrive.
Regarding the room, it was okay but there are stains on the carpet. I did not fancy the room I was given. It had a wet room. I prefer a room with a bath or a shower tray. I was told if I wanted a room with a bath, that I should specify at the time of the booking.
The receptionist that checked me in was very nice though. She is a perfect example of one who should be at the front desk.

Gorgeous old pub, dog friendly. They gave my dog a bowl of water & treats. Lovely open fire & everyone really friendly & chatty. I went to the toilet & put my bottle of water on top of the toilet & it went flying off the top of the toilet & ended up in the next toilet. I love spooky stuff so I wasn't scared! One of the most haunted pubs in Chester, definitely worth a visit. It's very beautiful and there are lots of haunted dolls. It's child friendly & serves food.
Went on Saturday night around 7pm and we had no problem with the lovely staff saying it was around an hour for a table , it was only about 40 minutes and they lead myself and my husband , and another couple to tables next to each other in the old part of the restaurant . It had a lovely atmosphere , and was very busy . They took the couple on the next tables order the same time as ours , and all there dishes came out rip rap , so they had various items on there table to pick at . Sadly our order came out very very slowly , the cheese, honey , walnuts etc , came to our table (no lovey on the cheese) , and then nothing else for 25 minutes . Our last top as came out 45 minuted after the first , the dishes were lovely , but it felt like a long tasting menu . We will go back again , but will avoid this time of day and try lunch perhaps .
This is my favourite Indian in Chester but despite Google saying it’s open I’ve gone to go there twice on a Sunday and Wednesday evening in the past 3 weeks and it hasn’t been open. No opening times on website either. Went to gate of India on city road instead. Would call ahead if making the trip
Love Kanya and the team there. They've welcomed our group in each week and really looked after us.
Good range of food and drinks.
Would definitely recommend them as a place to get together.
We went to the restaurant on Sunday evening whilst staying in the village! We decided to try some new dishes with the expert advice from the wait. I had the Kathmandu curry, which was incredible. Reasonably priced as well.
The waiter was very knowledgeable. The service was excellent and the food Was amazing. We would definitely return when we are in the area next time. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Food was not great. Passanda tasted and looked like no other passanda we’ve ever had. Lamb chops didn’t taste very nice. Wuick delivery service but I won’t be going back.
Fab staff, very friendly. Nice food and good parking. A mile walk from Chester city centre. Very noisy at night, bar underneath was very busy and music was being played until late. Door underneath the rooms kept banging. Bed very uncomfortable, mattress made lots of noise when moving around and you could feel the springs. Overall not a bad stay for the price.
Over priced and over cooked. Service was average ( no finger bowl or wet wipes after the dim sum, glad we brought our own). The price was double what we would normally pay for a Chinese night out. Very disappointed.
Given a Groupon voucher as a gift for this meal. We got the budget Groupon service. Small table tucked away. Tonight a long story short the rump top steak cut we were only able to have with this package was so chewey and poor it had to be re cooked just to be edible The monkfish cheeks I had as a starter was tiny and smothered in a curried sauce the triple cooked chips were processed thin croquettes. And the Dirty mash did t seem to have the bacon lardons. Just some gravy and a sprig of cooked onions. All in all a poor showing for what looks like a lovely place to dine. To top it off the first bill presented was for the full meal no Groupon voucher taken into account. And the waitresses rolled her eyes when I explained their error. Chester has a lot of dining experiences and we go to a few when we can. I don’t think we will revisit this one.
food is only average and costs a mortgage for what you get but the main problem is the land lord is rude and speaks to his staff like they are on the bottom of his shoe (I overheard when he thought nobody could see or hear), I think he needs to realise that his staff make his money not him, outside of my experience iv heard other people local to the area saying similar things. Honestly spend your money elsewhere
