Food and atmosphere are wonderful . The staff are lovely, I have been here on numerous occasions

The food was delicious and the service is lovely. But be aware that it’s spicy so it’s not a suitable spot for people who think a dash of pepper is hot.

A good solid place to eat. Not terribly Thai, more mainstream Chinese, but a safe bet for more timid diners. Three of us had the Banquet Menu B. The mixed starter was much like any high street chinese place. Off the peg, (out of the freezer?), mainstream stuff. Prawn toast, dim sun like parcels, triangular parcels, chicken skewers. You know the stuff. Coupled with a satay sauce that turned up again later. The stuff that went through the deep fryer had spent a few seconds too long there. The rice paper wrappings were just that bit too close to overdone. OK but just samey. The coconut chicken soup was about the best thing. A nice stock, good, clean coconut taste. But, in a theme running through the experience, rather underpowered. I'm a bit of a wuss with regard to chillis. At any curry house I'm the guy with the korma or malaysian. (Banana in curry? Why not?). Like everything, I could have enjoyed a bit more heat. Crispy duck - an additional £13.50 - was, well, you know. Fine. Just like a thousand high street places. Main courses - a beef dish with cabbage, IIRC, a chicken dish with satay again and a pad thai, were inoffensive. Apart from the pad thai, which was starchy. OK, a bit claggy. With 3 rounds of beer at around 15 quid a crack, the bill, with 10% service (friendly and efficient) was just north of £150. Apart from the pad thai, nothing wrong or unpleasant. Comfort food from Asia. But much more like mainstream high street chinese than Thai. Just an inoffensive meal really. We enjoyed pretty much all of it but felt everything to be a bit safe and lacking the fire of other thai menus.

Firstly, the ambience of this restaurant is really authentic and calming, making it a great place to sit and spend some time enjoying food. Secondly, I really regret ordering takeout; after entering the restaurant, I felt like opting for dine-in, but it was too late. We ordered a portion of thick panang curry (hot) with chicken and two portions of jasmine rice. The curry already comes with a portion of jasmine rice (though it should’ve had a lot more jasmine flavor), and we also ordered a portion of egg fried rice, which is tasty. Finally, I had a good experience! It’s worth trying. A special note for the lovely lady who greeted us with a pretty smile, as she contributed to my good first impression of the place. 😊

This restaurant has been excellent every time we have been- over at least a 20 year period. Not sure if its been the same owners all that time but everything seems consistantly good- the ambiance, service, food portions and quality, price reasonable for the high standards. Even the coffee was very good. Thankyou again for another lovely all round experience. One of our top 10 venues for sure .

Best Thai restaurant in our area. This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. Looking forward to going back and trying the lunch menu. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Visited on 5th February for an evening meal to celebrate a friend’s birthday and belated Yule catch-up. Excellent meal, beautifully presented, high quality food and attentive staff. Not been for awhile, a very high standard restaurant and will be returning to try other dishes.

Absolutely my favourite restaurant in Chester. The food is simply sensational. We’ve filled the table with starters, curries, and stir-fry’s on many occasion. Everything is so flavourful, everything is frankly stunning.

Lovely! The hot and sour soup was very watery and not very flavourful. The salt and pepper ribs were overcooked and tasted of nothing, not even salt. But the glass noodle salad was full of flavour and enjoyable!

Friendly service and the food was excellent. Sea Bass in Thai spices was the best bit of restaurant food I have eaten in ages. Great place to eat.

Wouldn’t pick up the phone at all for me to notify them of an allergen order. Had to come in to the restaurant after paying for delivery to notify them of order allergens. I understand it’s a Saturday but that’s crazy, the staff weren’t very helpful either. Not even one to write reviews but this is terrible.

Absolutely gorgeous!! We love Thai food and have been to many Thai restaurants. This one was the best so far. The lamb massaman was delicious. Lovely staff. Tasty food. Clean and quirky venue. Really enjoyed our evening.

This is my favourite restaurant when visiting Chester food and service is always spot on. I was disappointed with our lunch time meal yesterday because the portion size's were lot smaller than usual, dishes where topped up with extra salad and rice. Prices have gone up. 10% service charge was added to the bill. We left feeling slightly cheated.

Food was delicious but an item missed was missed from our order… 10% service charge added to bill as standard so be careful of “double tipping”. Would definitely go back tho.

Great little restaurant serving a wide range of oriental food from an extensive menu, the service was both friendly and efficient, shame that the beer only came in small bottles rather than draught but that's just a personal preference, would definitely return again next time I am in town.

Amazing restaurant with brilliant and tasty food. The staff were excellent and they even made my Sons birthday extra special by bringing out the desert with a candle and wished him happy birthday even though we were a party of four and hadn't booked in advance. Would highly recommend. The pan dam pancakes are superb

I had a really lovely meal at Ruan Orchid with my daughter. She lives in Chester and recommended it to me- I am so glad she did. We went on a Saturday evening during the races when Chester was very busy. Despite that we we were not rushed at all over our meal and felt able to sit drinking the last of our wine until we were ready to leave. The food was excellent-from the tasty prawn crackers through all our starter and main course choices. We really appreciated the waitress commenting that the heat can be dialled up or down. Service was efficient ( not rushed) and with a very genuine smile. I will definitely be back next time I am in Chester. Just a shame I live 200 miles south!

Fabulous Thai restaurant. The food was well prepared & presented. The service from all of the staff was excellent. It was a great night in Chester, finishing off with a really enjoyable experience.

This is the best Thai food you will have the pleasure of tasting in Chester city. The venue is relaxing and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is fresh and delicious and good value for money. They do allow walk-ins but I would recommend booking as it tends to get extremely busy. You’re not rushed out either so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

We had a lovely meal, just me and my wife. The kids were away camping so we took the chance to go into Chester and figured Thai was the thing we had not had in a while and this had the most exciting menu. My wife is Vegan and was very well catered for. The coconut cream mushroom soup was amazing and the masaman curry was another delight. Great value too, we have a banquet for 2 and it was less than £50 for a lot of food. Staff were really friendly and its such a lovely setting

32 years ago the lady (called Mark) who ran this restaurant told me I should try her food for a genuine taste of Thai food. I finally got around to it last week and It was fabulous. Six of us ate different starters and mains so as to try a wide variety and no one could fault anything. Great food great service great atmosphere......Just great. If you're reading this Mark sorry It took so long, I should have listened on the school run. 32 years of catching up to do.

Went for a family dinner with our 2 children. Food was absolutely delicious. Everything fresh and so tasty. Really enjoyed it. Lovely dinning room and friendly staff.

We nearly walked by this place as it seems sandwiched between bigger buildings. That would have been criminal. Outstanding food and a really nice bottle of wine for £65 inclusive of tip for two. Two starters and two mains - great value - we would go back.

Booked for myself and my friends before we knew it was a Chester race day so went with a open " oh well" 😬but we definitely couldn't fault the service or food....can only 100% recommend ..if you like good quality Thai food and lovely friendly service don't leave Chester without giving Ruan Orchid a visit👍

Fabulous find. Great easy locations, really nice atmosphere, attentive and friendly service. And a great extensive menu with wide variety of wonderful food, everything was fantastic other than the duck spring rolls. But certainly would recommend and will be back next time in Chester

Fab restaurant. They managed to find a place for us last minute without a booking. Made it clear that we had an hour before the table was pre booked so we had to be quick. Order sharpish and food was quick but lovely. Staff very friendly and overall a very nice experience

Another fabulous lunch at the Ruan Orchid. This really has to be the best value Thai in the area at only £12.95 for 2 courses, drinks are inexpensive too. The staff couldn’t be more attentive also, can’t wait to go back😋.

Sadly, unimpressed. My food was more vegetables than meat/chicken. Rice was nice though...

Called in at the end of the evening without booking. The friendly helpful staff gave us a table as long as we ordered quickly, although they didn’t rush us, as it was nearly the end of service. We had prawn crackers and veggie tempura to start, penang hot thick prawn curry and jasmine rice, veggie Thai green curry with sticky rice. It arrived quickly was really fresh and tasty. Thank you

This is the best Thai dining experience in Chester. It’s a lovely cosy venue and value for money. Whether you sit in or take away this food is delicious and the service is very good.

We had a takeaway delivered via deliveroo and were delighted with the speed and quality of the food sent. For appetizer we were given a generous portion of prawn crackers which were nice and crispy. The starter of minced pork and prawn moneybags were crisp and well filled. The mains vegetables tasted fresh and were well cooked, and the meat was tender. Good all round, thanks.

Fabulous for gluten free and Coeliac as well as delicious and a great service. I rang before to check before booking and the person double checked with the kitchen who assured me that they were knowledgable about coeliac needs. We all ate Gluten free on the table so we could all share and the server was able to tell us what was safe or not on the menu. Most things were but she knew what wasn’t. Her knowledge made me feel reassured. When served they declared each dish as GF and there were no problems after so all were safe. The food was really tasty we had Hot and sour soup, Pad Thai with rice noodles and duck ( the favourite of the night) and stir fried ginger and chicken. I have to say this was a really lovely place and fabulous food as well as being very safe for our coeliac 13 year old. .

Regular haunt - service is top notch and the food is wonderful My recommendations - Stir fried Thai spicy sweet basil with minced pork or the Lamb shank in Massaman sauce Price point is spot on too. The restaurant fills up quickly so unless you plan on eating before 6pm, my suggestion would be to book ahead.

Terrible delivery experience through Deliveroo. Waited over 1 hour for food that wasn’t delivered. Spoke to the restaurant who said “it’s a contract we are trying to get out of, we can’t refund or Deliveroo won’t give us a penny” then asked me to pay again and request a refund myself from Deliveroo. Expect it from Deliveroo but really disappointed with the restaurant itself, shocking customer service on both sides.

Unreliable booking system. Unprofessional. Confusing messages from 3 different waitresses resulted in cancellation.

I'm surprised how come I have not visited this place earlier despite living in Chester for few years now. The best Thai food we've eaten for a while and I'm looking forward to visiting again. Food was cooked to perfection, service was super and there wasn't a big wait for food despite most of tables being occupied.

A nice experience overall .. the food was nice ...I always order the same thing at most Thai restaurants so I know how it should taste for my liking ...I liked it .. the food was nice and hot ...we got there quite late and didn't book so for a Saturday we were glad to get a table as it was very busy ...we sat upstairs near the bar .. the service was good and I carnt really fault our visit ...I would go again ..massive portion of prawn crackers , they were fresh and delicious .. it was a bit noisy but nothing unbearable You can park on the street after a certain time I think but your lucky to have a parking space on a weekend . We parked about a mile away near the university residential area and walked through Chester ...mainly by choice because it wasn't a cold evening and we just wanted to pass a few shops and bars first

Best Thai I have had in the UK! Nice atmosphere and beautiful decorations. Efficient and friendly staff. Absolutely recommend it!

The food here is fantastic. We opted for a Banquet and the quality and portion sizes were amazing. Extremely attentive staff. It is a little small so would recommend booking. All in all a little gem which I would recommend and will definitely be back.

We visited on the last Saturday of December. The food was average, but not spectacular. The toilets were notably filthy and did leave us wondering what the standard of hygiene is like in the kitchen… Our bill listed six drinks we hadn’t ordered. We spotted this before paying and the bill was quickly rectified, without any query or apparent surprise from the staff, which we found slightly odd.

We came here for my mums 60th birthday meal from Manchester and had a lovely meal! The waitresses were so assertive and the food was amazing! The best red Thai curry I have ever had! Most of all my 8 year old daughter had put her rings she got for Christmas in a napkin after washing her hands and left them on the table which later got cleared up and the lovely people that worked there routed through the waste bins inside and out to find them and were successful in finding them! This was completely above and beyond service and we are so very grateful and have one very happy little girl. We will definitely be returning when we come back to Chester!

I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! I visited yesterday with my parents and girlfriend; we all opted for banquet B w/ duck and pancakes add on. It was sensational, the flavours and presentation of the food was outstanding! The staff were so friendly, welcoming & attentive! My photos won’t do it justice and I forgot to take photos of each round because I was too busy indulging. This place is an absolute gem. You won’t find a better Thai Restaurant in Chester. Coconut soup and Panang curry were the best I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be returning, my new favourite restaurant in Chester! Can’t recommend this place enough, unreal!

Booked at short notice one early Sat pm. Clean, tidy with a friendly welcome. The food choice was really good and the meals we chose had decent portions and were fabulous. Make a point of visiting when in Chester - will defiantely return.

Food was lovely, but they clearly wanted us out well ahead of closing and all the staff came out and started to have their meals at the end of the night. It was only 9.30 and we were nowhere near finished. Didn't get chance to finish our wine and had to take the bottle with us.

We really enjoyed our evening here. Although there is a general disclaimer on the menu regarding the presence of allergens, once we advised the waitress of the specific allergy, the attention to detail was excellent. They changed dishes that we hadn’t expected to need changing because the duck had been marinated in an oyster sauce and gave us real confidence that they were absolutely on top of the allergy issue. Food and service were very good.

Explained I’d got cancer, can’t eat much and love Thai food but can no longer cope with hot chilli. I was guided through the menu very carefully, chose one of the platters which was delicious. BUT also I was provided with an extra dip of chilli sauce which had been calmed down, evidently with sugar, so you still had that wonderful taste. Brilliant and very thoughtful.

We arrived here at 9pm on a Sunday night, given a table and ordered drinks. Then when taking the order we were told that we couldn't have a starter as they were closing at 10pm. Okay, no problem but then the food arrived fast as it was basically Thai soup with some chicken in and sticky rice. I've cooked better at home myself and if you don't want to serve past 9pm, put closed on the door! Probably the least interesting Thai meal I've ever had.

Popped in for a meal, not really too familiar with Thai food so was completely at the mercy of the staff. The whole evening was lovely, food was excellent, staff were attentive and polite. Excellent all round 👌💯

We had a lovely evening, we were a large group and the staff coped with our varying orders with ease and efficiency making sure everyone was happy. I went for one of the buffet options and the food was outstanding, especially the coconut and chicken soup. Will definitely visit again when next in Chester.
