Had a really nice meal here & although it was busy the service was good & the food was fab. Will be back for sure. Would say it is always best to book especially on weekends

Terrible delivery experience through Deliveroo. Waited over 1 hour for food that wasn’t delivered. Spoke to the restaurant who said “it’s a contract we are trying to get out of, we can’t refund or Deliveroo won’t give us a penny” then asked me to pay again and request a refund myself from Deliveroo. Expect it from Deliveroo but really disappointed with the restaurant itself, shocking customer service on both sides.

Unreliable booking system. Unprofessional. Confusing messages from 3 different waitresses resulted in cancellation.

I'm surprised how come I have not visited this place earlier despite living in Chester for few years now. The best Thai food we've eaten for a while and I'm looking forward to visiting again. Food was cooked to perfection, service was super and there wasn't a big wait for food despite most of tables being occupied.

A nice experience overall .. the food was nice ...I always order the same thing at most Thai restaurants so I know how it should taste for my liking ...I liked it .. the food was nice and hot ...we got there quite late and didn't book so for a Saturday we were glad to get a table as it was very busy ...we sat upstairs near the bar .. the service was good and I carnt really fault our visit ...I would go again ..massive portion of prawn crackers , they were fresh and delicious .. it was a bit noisy but nothing unbearable You can park on the street after a certain time I think but your lucky to have a parking space on a weekend . We parked about a mile away near the university residential area and walked through Chester ...mainly by choice because it wasn't a cold evening and we just wanted to pass a few shops and bars first

Very nice Thai restaurant. Very delicate food and flavours! All fresh and home made! Had wonton and prawn toasties as starters and an amazing Massaman curry with coconut rice. Best Thai I have had in the UK! Nice atmosphere and beautiful decorations. Efficient and friendly staff. Absolutely recommend it!

I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! I visited yesterday with my parents and girlfriend; we all opted for banquet B w/ duck and pancakes add on. It was sensational, the flavours and presentation of the food was outstanding! The staff were so friendly, welcoming & attentive! My photos won’t do it justice and I forgot to take photos of each round because I was too busy indulging. This place is an absolute gem. You won’t find a better Thai Restaurant in Chester. Coconut soup and Panang curry were the best I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be returning, my new favourite restaurant in Chester! Can’t recommend this place enough, unreal!

Absolutely fabulous restaurant, food was outstanding, service attentive and Friendly, we had the banquet c on the menu and every dish was perfect, if your in Chester pay it a visit you won’t be disappointed authentic Thai restaurant just brilliant.

We really enjoyed our evening here. Although there is a general disclaimer on the menu regarding the presence of allergens, once we advised the waitress of the specific allergy, the attention to detail was excellent. They changed dishes that we hadn’t expected to need changing because the duck had been marinated in an oyster sauce and gave us real confidence that they were absolutely on top of the allergy issue. Food and service were very good.

Food made me sick for 30 minutes

Explained I’d got cancer, can’t eat much and love Thai food but can no longer cope with hot chilli. I was guided through the menu very carefully, chose one of the platters which was delicious. BUT also I was provided with an extra dip of chilli sauce which had been calmed down, evidently with sugar, so you still had that wonderful taste. Brilliant and very thoughtful.

We arrived here at 9pm on a Sunday night, given a table and ordered drinks. Then when taking the order we were told that we couldn't have a starter as they were closing at 10pm. Okay, no problem but then the food arrived fast as it was basically Thai soup with some chicken in and sticky rice. I've cooked better at home myself and if you don't want to serve past 9pm, put closed on the door! Probably the least interesting Thai meal I've ever had.

If you can't find something on the menu, there's something wrong with you!! So much choice, and all delicious and beautifully presented. Service is fast and friendly, and staff are super efficient. The coconut rice is epic!!! Would definitely recommend. Also, great veggie and vegan options too!

Popped in for a meal, not really too familiar with Thai food so was completely at the mercy of the staff. The whole evening was lovely, food was excellent, staff were attentive and polite. Excellent all round 👌💯

We had a lovely evening, we were a large group and the staff coped with our varying orders with ease and efficiency making sure everyone was happy. I went for one of the buffet options and the food was outstanding, especially the coconut and chicken soup. Will definitely visit again when next in Chester.

We received a very warm welcome despite not having pre-booked. Service was fabulous and the food was gorgeous. Wished we lived closer so we could visit more often. Will definitely be back when next in Chester.

Absolutely blown away by the dining experience here. The decor is beautiful and really adds to the atmosphere and experience. The service and attention to detail cannot be faulted with the staff being extra attentive towards allergies and always double checking to confirm. You’d be amazed how many places fall short here and will just have a “maybe yeah whatever attitude” which is concerning. Not the case at Ruan, the staff double checked what they could do to meet GF requirements and it was very reassuring. The food was absolutely delicious with just the right amount in every portion. I highly recommend the pad Thai or the red curry. And last but not least, it was extremely good value for the money which is a rarity! Two drinks, two starters, two mains for £50 including a well deserved service charge, you really can’t knock that in an authentic Thai restaurant in Chester.

After reading the reviews we booked to come here so glad we did the food was delicious and service was excellent very busy restaurant but we didn’t wait long for our food. Would definitely recommend this place.

We were recommended the Ruan Orchid by our hotel and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It’s a charming old building with service to match: friendly and efficient and a chat with the owner. There’s an extensive menu but we went for old favourites - shared starter of chicken satay, massaman and red curries - and they were absolutely delicious, home made with lots of fresh vegetables. Brilliant value too: highly recommend.

We live at the top of the road which is dangerous living so close to so many nice places to eat. Been several times and never ever had a bad experience. Ambient and lovely staff who are so polite. Yellow curry is Devine! We will be returning again and again.

We went to Ruan Orchid with my family for a birthday meal and it did not disappoint. We loved that the prawn crackers are served with peanut sauce - it started the meal off splendidly! We then thoroughly enjoyed the chicken satay and stuffed chicken wings. I had the crispy noodles for main which was just divine, perfectly light and I really liked how the noodles went from crispy to perfectly soft in the sauce. Two of my family also had the pad Thai which smelt brilliant. All in all an amazing meal.

Visited Chester in august, and have had this place recommended by friends so we were lucky enough to get a walk in. Greeted by a lovely woman, owner I’m guessing. Shown to a table. Lovely little restaurant. Very friendly, incredibly welcoming. Great menu, we had crispy kimchi which was absolutely delicious, then I had the thick squid penang hot red curry which was amazing and my friend had the yellow curry. Portions were really good, food was delicious, couldn’t fault it at all. Definitely up there with the better Thai restaurants. Highly recommended

Best value lunch in chester. 2 courses £12.95 mid week. A hidden gem. Plenty of choice. And is always completely authentic Thai food. Must visit.

We booked a table for 19.30. On arrival at the restaurant on time, but no table was available. We were told to “come back later” no specific time given. A group sitting near the entrance overheard our conversation and said they had finished their meal and would be leaving soon. My colleagues and I left the restaurant, and did some window shopping. I looked back up the road and noticed the group were leaving the restaurant. So my colleagues and I returned, we gestured to sit at the table, but again we were turned away being told they had to prepare the table. I asked if we could wait at the entrance way but was again told to leave and return later. But that was the final straw, We dined elsewhere. My wife and I are regular visitor to Thailand, and love the place. But welcome given to us at this restaurant was dreadful. This was my fourth visit to the restaurant but alas will NOT return.

Superb Thai restaurant with a very comprehensive menu. The food was exceptional, staff lovely and friendly all in a really cosy little restaurant. If looking to eat in Chester this place should be high up on your list to visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Superb banquet meal.(D). Range of flavours and textures just kept on coming. Efficient and friendly service who had excellent timing on delivery of each course.

Service was a little slow but when served the staff were lovely. Food was nice. 2 of us dining and a 10% service charge is added. This leaves a bad taste. If people want to leave a tip, they will, forcing it, is distasteful and dampens the atmosphere and the already priced meal. Seats have very little padding and not very comfortable. Having been a few years now and they are the same then.

Last minute trip to Chester and we decided to try this restaurant. It was nice to see a family run thai business. The food was good and I really enjoyed the som tam/ papaya salad. There is a discretionary 10% service charge - just to make people aware.

Decided to go here for food on a Sunday evening, wasn't a special occasion so slightly horrified at £96 bill, after checking, we realised there was 5 bottles if beer, when we had only had 3, bill was recalculated by staff, still nearly £80, checked again, and there was a service charge, which had been put on twice, had the bill rectified again, still nearly £70, for 2 starters and two mains, which included a non compulsory service charge, but would be removed if requested, which we didn't. Whilst im happy to tip, if i have good service, I'd rather decide if and how much I want to tip, rather than have it added to my bill. The food was excellent, but again, slightly pricey for just popping out for a bite to eat.
