We enjoyed our meal very much. All the food was good. The staff were friendly. The prices were good. We would be happy to go back

We visited this restaurant on Wednesday for the first time for our wedding anniversary and I can honestly say we wasn’t disappointed, the meal was absolutely delicious, we was made to feel so welcome, all the staff was lovely, they even ordered us a taxi to take us back to our hotel, will definitely be going again when we return to Chester

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered and the food was piping hot and stunning. The mushroom rice was full of mushrooms, the Naga curry spicy and delicious. We wished we were staying longer so could order another!

Tried here in a trip to Chester after reading the reviews and we wasn't disappointed.Staff very accommodating on arrival.We had poppadoms that were very fresh.Our mains We had Chicken Rogan Josh and Chicken Balti and Naan.The food was full of flavour and tasted fantastic.For a Wednesday all booths were filled with couples dining which proves this restaurant is a must go venue in Chester.I would definitely visit again on a return trip to Chester. If you read this review then please visit you will not be disappointed....

Party of 9 - no issue with splitting us across 2 booths and really accommodating in fitting us in on a Saturday night.Food was excellent - large portions and great value for money.Staff were really friendly and made the meal more enjoyable adding to the atmosphere.Highly recommended and if back in Chester definitely go again.

On a visit to Chester with the family and fancied an Indian curry. Went to Bombay Palace based on reviews we read. I can honestly say every bit of food we had was excellent, fresh and extremely tasty. One of the best Indian meals we've ever had. The staff were lovely, could not have been any more helpful or polite. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Chester. Can't recommend enough!

My friends and I always used to come here after a 12+ hour shift in hospitality, as it's usually the only place open past midnight and the service and food is great. However last night we finished at 12:15am, and that morning I had checked the website to make sure it was still open til 3am and the website said yes. Then we arrived very hungry tired and excited for great food after being in work all day, and it was closed! It was so disappointing. Now we will have to find somewhere else open past midnight.

I’m actually shocked that people have reviewed this place so well and it just confirms that people around here have zero idea about food standards..... the chicken Was like pebbles or rock, I had to chew hard and for quite some time to get through my chicken.... and the korma sauce was distasteful, it hadn’t completely binded together and was just a little ...hm. I also ordered onion Bahji, this was ok, better than others I’ve had. Ordered Bombay potato and haven’t tried it, Doesn’t look appealing. Honestly I’m an avid cook and I can do a better job at home than eating from here. Sorry guys but had to give you the truth. Thanks for the effort though.

Went to the Bombay last nigh. The staff were very friendly and we had excellent service. Both meals we had we fully enjoyed. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Good selection of bottled beers and 2 Indian beers on draught. We finished the night with a brandy coffee each that was amazing. We would highly recommend this family run restaurant that has been in Chester and still family run for over 40 years.

I’ve lived in Chester for three years now, after moving up from London. Where I was spoilt for an excellent standard of Indian cuisine. Since living here I’ve literally tried every Indian restaurant in the city and every time felt rather disappointed and underwhelmed after each meal. Bombay Palace was the last on the list I hadn’t yet tried and I definitely wasn’t disappointed this time, wishing this was the first restaurant I went to 3 years ago. The food here is exceptional, don’t judge a book by its cover. Finally a curry which tastes how it should and not every dish you order being the same colour and made from the same curry base, like 95% of the other restaurants here. The Tikka is the right colour a yellow/orange not your typical RED which is basically food dye with zero marinade. The rice is also amazing, we’ve had both the mushroom and coconut. Seriously come here for a curry and don’t waste your time and money in the other bang average Indian restaurants in the city!

We came across this place by chance on A Saturday night and although busy managed to get a table. The food was up there with the best curries we have had and we have had many! The owner was polite, knowledgeable and had a good sense humour. The best recommendation we can hive is that we went back the following night!!!

Qué placer comer curry como es debido, tal como lo recuerdo de hace varias décadas en los Midlands.Si prefiere el nuevo curry asiático de estilo fusión "elegante" servido en platos blancos con ensalada de diseñador y un entorno de alta tecnología, es mejor no reservar.Comenzamos con una charla de pollo y un kebab mixto, ambos eran porciones muy generosas y muy sabrosas, seguidas por King Prawn Biriani, Garlic Chilli Chicken y un fantástico keema naan al lado. El naan se rellenó generosamente con carne, a diferencia de otros restaurantes que sirven un relleno miserable 'cepillado'. Todos los platos eran deliciosamente sabrosos y se servían en balti o acero inoxidable (¡como debería ser!). El vino blanco de la casa (Sauvignon chileno) también fue excelente y de gran valor.¿Qué es lo que no me gusta de este lugar? El personal fue atento, educado y amable. El ambiente era básico pero perfecto para aquellos que buscan un excelente curry en un entorno relajado y un gran servicio. Los precios son buenos y las porciones generosas.Tuvimos una mala experiencia en Chester en otra casa de curry hace unos años, pero el Bombay Palace fue una alegría, y no podemos recomendarlo lo suficiente para los verdaderos amantes del curry.Enhorabuena a todo el personal por mantenerlo real. . . ¡volveremos!

We called in early evening for dinner while visiting Chester.The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was really good, and the food was tasty. I loved the retro decor, separate booths,and it made the place feel very cosy.

We came to chester zoo and stayed in the hotel just opposite this restaurant, after having a bad time in chester city center looking for a restaurant to eat in with a 5 year old on a Bank Holiday (our fault), we went over to see if they could squeeze us in and they did, our meals were lovley and service was brilliant, they didn't rush you and they also didnt leave you waiting around for ages to order food or drinks, i shared chicken pakoras with my fella and then had a chicken balti with pailu rice, my boyfriend had chicken tikka, my mum had chicken jalfrezi we shared poppadoms and also naan breads as they were so big and filling, will definitely come here again next time we stay in chester!

ordered drink n poppadoms as couldn't decide this wasn't a problem...ordered starter and main meal...arrived in good time piping 🔥....currys to die for very tasty...will definitely ho again when we visit....

Kind of forgot about this place but having been recently disappointed with dining experiences elsewhere it was time for a return to where it all began. Can’t fault it to be honest. Recently refurbed and by far the best curry for a while. Very good listeners when you want something slightly tinkered with hence the Chicken Tikka Balti, Madras hot with garlic naan extra garlic and extra well done was spot on. Cheers guys.

Has it was our first visit to chester we booked this restraunt because it had the best reviews. We are so glad we did! it was lovely, the onion baji starters. The mains, garlic chicken & chicken jalfrezi, chips rice & garlic nan were gorgeous. Hand sanitizer was also available & markings on the floor for distancing we felt very safe. Loved the decor! Lovely place. Visiting chester again in November & will definatly be booking a table.

We had a good flavoursome meal here, although my karai wasn't hot as requested and didn't contain the onion and peppers as promised. The rice and nan however were excellent. Service was a bit matter of fact and a fraction slow but looking around it seemed they more engaging if they knew you. The decor and Bangladeshi menu reminded my of many a restaurant I visited in the the 70s & 80s. Slightly dark inside and we needed our phone to read the menu. Not sure if they were following their Covid requirements though.

Meeting with family Sheffield and wales booked before can recommend all meals excellent chicken tikka bhuna was spot on nice and spicy and vegetarian dishes was also catered for no problem would definitely go back if we meet in Chester again .x2 indian beers on draught also very good.Tandoori Roti also done for us which was not on menu and was cooked to perfection.

Bombay Palace looked a little shabby when you walk into the restaurant. We were seated very quickly and staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered our food poppadoms and Cobra beer arrived very quickly and not long after our startersI had chicken pakoras June had mixed vegetables. They were very good. For mains I had chicken Naga with Onion Rice & Garlic Naan which was very tasty. June had Prawn Dansak with Onion Rice & Garlic Naan. While we both enjoyed our food we both felt a little refurb we would have given higher marks for.

Visited a few weeks ago as a couple. Seated near the kitchen. Food was nice, staff were friendly but when I saw into the kitchen (we were seated right next to the kitchen door) the tiles were caked in gunge. I hope they can clean up as they can do better I'm sure.

We visited were seated quickly as it was very quiet. Shaami kebab to start was very chewy. Chicken tikka madras garlic rice was nice the chips and naan bread were both very chewy. Staff friendly though. Won't revisit.

We had an amazing meal returning to this authentic restaurant after 21 yrs . Delighted to find it unchanged same staff running the place keeping it in the family. Now being coeliac there are always concerns when eating out however this meal was perfect. No gluten no side effects. I had chicken tikka pathia my wife enjoyed the lamb passanda as much as she had when she was a student at Chester uni and visited Bombay palace regularly! Huge thanks for keeping our happy memories alive.we look forward to returning soon!!!

Went for a meal here last night. Staff were friendly and polite, food was beautiful. Plenty of it and extremely tasty. Gutted I couldn't finish it all. Definitely recommend going here. Only downside is that it's an hour and half drive from where I live.

Reservamos el Palacio de Bombay como venía recomendado.Fue magnífico, vamos por los indios todo el tiempo y tengo que decir que este fue, de lejos, uno de los mejores que hemos tenido. Mi Hubbie no sabía qué pedir, por lo que le pidió a nuestro camarero "King" que simplemente ordenara algo que él mismo comería. El chef creó una comida especial de pollo con espinacas para mi Hubbie y la devoró diciendo que era increíble. Pedí Chicken Patia y fue la mejor patia que he probado. King (nuestro camarero) fue un anfitrión increíble, muy eficiente y muy amable. . . . Un crédito al Palacio de Bombay.Si visitas Chester durante el fin de semana como lo hicimos nosotros y vives indios, entonces este lugar es una visita obligada si quieres una comida fabulosa.

Went here last night, didnt book and they could easily fit us in. Service is a bit slow here, my.glass was.empty for quite a while so i asked for another beer even though several waiters had walked past.

We’ve been eating at the Bombay Palace for years. This restaurant has been around for decades, and it’s a gem for those who like traditional Indian eateries.

Ate here Sunday 23 November. Just me and my husband,. Taken to a small booth. Very cosy although a bit dark. Service was great and relaxed. We had poppadoms and chutney lovely spiced tray of chutney. Onion bhaji crisp and of good size. My husband had garlic chicken curry will I had chicken dupiaza, both were good size portions, we asked the young waiter his name was King the size of the rice and naan, he was very honest and said one of each would be plenty. He was so right naan was so fluffy. If we were in Chester again we would definitely use this restaurant again .

I have come here quite a few times before and it has never disappointed. Food is excellent and atmosphere is good on a Saturday night most of the times. Even when it is not very busy it’s is still a joy to come in here. The 2 brothers and their sons are a delight to be served by.

Nos quedamos encantados con la elección del menú, y tuvimos una comida encantadora con un personal amable y acogedor. Los buñuelos de piña eran un hermoso desierto. ¡Solo desearía que viviéramos cerca! Muy recomendable.

As a regular visitor to India we decided to try a curry at the Bombay Palace, we were not dissapointed. The service was very good the staff were friendly and the curry was excellent, will be visiting again soon.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant great friendly staff, fantastic food, ice cold cobra on draft and reasonably priced , what more could you ask for !

We usually come to Bombay for sit down food, tonight we opted for takeaway one word AMAZING couldn’t fault anything. Starters and mains with added popper drums everything piping hot and delish.

We visited while on a 2 day break in chester, staff very friendly and meal was lovely, would deffinantly visit again if in chester again, would deffinantly recommend this place for a lovely curry, also did not have to wait long for the meal.

Not obvios from outside, but great little place inside. Service was excellent and food too. Portions were also right, good value for money as well.

I was staying in Chester for the week close to this small but friendly Indian restaurant and went in first on a Sunday evening and then on the Friday. Both times not busy but very friendly and cosy. Very extensive menu with great variety of styles and both times very good, but just had a main course. Have to say Nan bread on first night was a bit burnt but okay on revisit.

Our takeaway was cooked well. The food order was completed in good time and all the dishes were tasty. We will certainly use again.

A few weeks ago we went in randomly to end a night of drinking and were introduced to the waiters' favourite curry - the Naga. This week we returned more sober to make sure it was as good as we remembered. Boy it was! The Naga was superb again, as was the Mokanwahla. Tasty and good quality meat. Big fluffy naans were perfect but the cauliflower bhaji was a revelation. We have a solid favourite curry house in Chester. (Decor is very average but the staff are lovely and the 80s power ballads add to the fun).

We visited this place whilst in chester for our wedding anniversary. The staff couldnt help us enough. I have an allegy to nuts so they made my food from scratch and even the curry i wanted they made with no nuts. Its was delicious. They went above and beyond to help. Highly recommended

Please please don't change, 2 nights of BIR heaven, love the Old Skool decor very homely and welcoming. The owners and their Sons run a fabulous restaurant please try it out. The breads are light and Crisp the Tandoori Goods fab and the Curries well seasoned and perfectly executed. Good draught Beer too. The owner helped us greatly with guidance about how to navigate Chester Wall and visit the river. Very much appreciated see you next year.

We stopped in chester on our way to Wales. We had our meal here, and I can not explain the amount of meat etc that was in our curries. They were the best we have had in a long time. Would love to visit again if we are down that way :) Staff were also very friendly :)

Bueno, el lugar parece anticuado en comparación con Barton Rouge y Koconut Grove, pero no dejes que esto te desanime, ya que la comida era deliciosa. Tuvimos nuestra comida típica de poppadum y pepinillos, seguidos de un pollo Tikka Pathia, pollo pollo Tikka ajo ajo, ajo y Peshwari Naans, un Sag Aloo y arroz. Los poppadum eran ligeros y crujientes y los chutneys estaban bien. Los platos principales estaban bien cocinados, llenos de sabor y con el toque justo de especias. Sin duda volvería a ir.

Went in last night (Saturday night) about 22:45,fancied a take out , walked in place looked like an indian spoons with the red carpet , saw a couple having a sit down meal and a bloke with his two sons sat on a sofa like bench waiting for a take out menu. Young lad then told me to sit down in a smilar place and gave me a menu , another bloke came over and asked me what i wanted to eat.

Found this place after searching for 'best Indian restaurants in Chester'. It looked well rated. It was grim, dingy ... the early specials were 20% higher than advertised on website, the walls were peeling and looked damp in places. I can fully understand why the lighting was kept far too low. The food was bland, uninteresting and overly greasy, nor was it anything like serving temperature. This place clearly used to be better, but would definitely avoid now. I wish I'd gone on my instinct when entering and walked straight out. Terrible.

Sadly this place has seen better days. The wall by us was mouldy and had peeling wallpaper. The staff seemed tired even though it was only 6pm on a Friday night. The chef's special was gloopy and covered in cheese.

We stopped in here last week (August 1) on a trip through Chester. Service was quick and friendly and we had a delicious meal. We had several Indian meals during our 2-week vacation in the UK, and this was the best food we had. The staff even called a cab for us at the end of the meal and helped my husband, who is partially handicapped, into the cab. Terrific place!

Have visited this Indian restaurant now a number of times and in my opinion is the best in Chester. The service is great, food exceptional (no taste of raw spices as found with other Indian restaurants) and staff attentive and willing to add additional ingredients to tailor your meal to your specification. Visited late night Friday so it wasn't too busy. Staff were really friendly as soon as we walked in. My boyfriend wanted a shot for his birthday and the member of staff behind the bar was more than happy to give him plenty tasters before he decided! Plenty food choice and didn't have to wait long. Food was delicious. Wished we lived closer so we could visit more often!

We all walked in and ordered our food at 1145pm. 1250pm we walked out after a six person party walkes out a minute before us, we left as well. We were served lukewarm tapwater with a single ice cube. Five servers and 10 customers waiting in this boiling hot horror show. Turn the a/c on it is peak heat.

The food was delicious Lamb tikka Biryiani with a Madras sauce with a little side of Tarka Dhall and a paratha ... yes the place needs a lick of paint ... but you will pick your plate clean !!

We booked here soley placed on the trip advisor reviews and im glad that we did. The food was lovely one of the best curries we have had. Yes the decor and the outside is old fashioned which made us a little dubious about how good it was actually gonna be but I am so happy that we satyed and didn't judge the book by the cover.

Didn’t even get to try the food. Firstly the driver refused to come up to our flat as he had “left the car running”.

Haven't been in here for years but we're very glad we went back last week as the food was very good. Maybe the decor is a little dated, but that's not really a problem. The Pathia was excellent, so was the cheese garlic naan. We will be back!

Love the Decor its proper Old School 80s 90s styli not tempted to go with the viral brasserie wood lamimate flooring and shiny black bistro seating. These type of restaurants are in demand as you know

Second visit as 2 couples, some comments in other reviews regarding decor, however, thought it was perfectly presentable & no issues as far as we were concerned. Served by Aaron who was very friendly, meals were tasty & good quantities. Would not hesitate to return again.

Staying down Chester for a couple of days we stumbled here as first stop for food and were not disappointed. Greeted by the manager who was very attentive and friendly not only recommending some superb items from menu but also helping us make the most of our time in Chester recommending bars to end the night with.
