The place looks nice, but the service was poor—the staff were inattentive and all over the place. We ordered a beer and a prosecco-based cocktail; the cocktail was flat and unappealing. When we asked to exchange it, we were told that exchanges couldn’t be made based on personal taste. But this wasn’t a matter of taste—it was just low quality and badly made.

The steak pie was packed with meat. 😀 The Chicken and leek was enormous, but had not been heated enough. Bit disappointed seasonal veg was peas. But we will try again.
We tried again. I am sure we are not the only people disappointed that the "buttered veg" was just shredded cabbage lightly cooked. Can I suggest if you are going so far off menu to tell people when they order.
My children said this was the best restaurant they've ever been to! We had a lovely time; the children had make your own pizzas which they loved. It felt really friendly and it was great to see it full on a Saturday night. We will definitely be back.
Have been several times and the food is always very good. Lamb jalfrezi tender and beautifully spiced. Sag Paneer delicious, all the trimmings well presented and cooked. Always a few extras. Spotlessly clean with helpful staff.
Welcoming staff, Amazing food (especially the poached eggs!!!)
Peaceful atmosphere and my husband enjoyed the 80s music which was playing in the background.
We used to eat here regularly but hadn’t been for quite a while. It was surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening on a Bank Holiday weekend, after our visit, unfortunately, I understand why.
We were seated promptly, menus were given and drinks order taken by a nice waitress. The menu was relatively small (which I normally see as a positive as it usually means the dishes are homemade and the recipes have been perfected) but it lacked the inventiveness of the menu on our previous visits. It took quite a while for order to be taken which I didn’t really understand as there were so few customers.
We ordered quite simply, a burger with blue cheese and chips and the fish and chips. The burger came with fries rather than chips which wasn’t a major issue but both the fries and chips tasted like the standard supermarket frozen variety and weren’t particularly crispy. The burger was nice but the bun was burnt in part, it was a large piece of fish but the batter was a bit thick and not very crispy and the accompanying tartare sauce tasted like it had just come out of a jar rather than being homemade. We were there about 90 minutes but nobody asked if we wanted more drinks. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either.
I visited Crewe on Saturday with my son after looking around a local university and wow so glad we did! The food was amazing, we were seen to our table by a very friendly gentleman who gave us all the information and let us know our lovely waitress Luiza would be with us shortly, she was so kind felt genuinely like she wanted you to have a nice evening food recommendations were great, we had the butchers block to share omg I’m so glad my son was there to help eat it was huge! A great range of sides included you have to try the Camembert mashed potato!!! The steak was very well cooked medium rare as we asked for we would definitely come back and prices are so reasonable for what you get. I also had the dessert combo they have which is a great idea! A coffee and mini dessert for £6.25 which I thought was great and a lovely end to the dinner.
Great value pub/hotel. It ain't 5 star but doesn't charge 5 star prices. Clean and tidy rooms supplied with most things you're liable to need. Really excellent breakfasts included in the room price.
Ever since we discovered this place following our daughters wedding at Colshaw Hall round the corner and owned by the same family. Living close by, we've had many lunches at The Dog and its always a great atmosphere with good food and wines as well as friendly dogs in a separate bar area. It's in a lovely area and although it's not cheap it's always busy with a good mixed clientele.
Our daughter booked it for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary and told the staff that it was a special occasion. I wasn't looking for any special favours and we got our usual seat, but I was disappointed for my wife that not one member of staff mentioned our anniversary. We called by Colshaw hall en route to reminisce about the wedding and met the owner who seemed delighted to see us and that I'd remembered his and his daughter name after 9 years , since the wedding. Old school I guess. Sadly my wife doesn't want to go back to The Dog. Pity but like the owner of Colshaew Hall it doesn't take much to make people feel special..
