Very quiet inside, but it was a hot day, and they did have garden dining. Food was really good, more than one choice of vegetarian on menu.

Great food and staff are always very helpful. Not the first time we have had meal here and would recommended it to anyone. Additional to this meal we have visited at Christmas where kids saw Santa and had small gift from him. Cozy setting and nice environment for the kids to play outside in large rear beer garden. Sunny days treat.

Such a shame for a lovely pub with lovely helpful staff, the food was extremely disappointing 😞 we had to ask for steak knives to cut roast beef! Says on the menu, tender beef served pink, this was not the case. It was steak knife tough. Horrible veggies, good roasties & exceptional Yorkshire puds.

We’ve been going here for a few years, completely gone down hill, staff are rude and think it’s a joke. Food was shocking!! Hallumi was cooked in the same fryer as fish!! Thankfully I’m not vegan but it is completely unacceptable!! Food was also really greasy and felt extremely poorly afterwards!! Do not recommend

The place looks nice, but the service was poor—the staff were inattentive and all over the place. We ordered a beer and a prosecco-based cocktail; the cocktail was flat and unappealing. When we asked to exchange it, we were told that exchanges couldn’t be made based on personal taste. But this wasn’t a matter of taste—it was just low quality and badly made.

We stopped here on our way back from a day out. I had the chicken duo (100% recommend) The crispy chicken strips were absolutely amazing. Light and crispy batter. The bbq sauce was out of this world! My partner had the signature burger. It looked amazing. He said it tasted lovely but could do with a little more sauce. Even better if it had the bbq sauce on from my meal. 100% recommend going here!

food choice is not bad. the mood is cosy and warm, but due to its success it gets busy on weekend nights and Sunday Lunch so book ahead. Ample parking, children's catered for with seating and a small garden area in the garden at back. Food quality has been good to very good. I have been going here since 2019 and I've never had a bad experience.

Brilliant evening! Excellent food, sharing board for starters was really unique. Lovely clean and fresh atmosphere. Service was from the staff was very warm and friendly. Will hopefully be back again soon. Thank you so much. 💓

Food was really nice and well presented. May of been on the small side but still very nice. As a wheelchair user getting in and out was really easy to do. Atmosphere I've only put one star due to the time we went. Service the staff who served us she was well presented very polite couldn't of asked for a better member of staff Kids meal they didn't seem to do anything smaller so my 2 year old had fish goujons chips and peas which in his defense made a fair big dent in the meal. So for a family of 5 with puddings around £120.00.

Had such a lovely meal with the whole family. Our server Talia was incredibly helpful and had some great recommendations on the food (and the wine) will be coming back soon.

I come here for breakfast all the time at weekends now. There’s a good choice, always a good standard and very tasty and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Would recommend this place anytime.

We visited The Blacksmith Arms today to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It's years since we've eat at this pub. In a word,it was excellent. We were a party of 7. Everything was organised and prompt. No chasing for orders that hadn't arrived. The food was spot on. The place itself is very comfortable, clean and has bags of character. For me, the staff make or break a pub or restaurant. Here, the staff were first rate. Our waitress, Scarlet, was so pleasant, kind and polite; nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate in recommending this pub. We look forward to visiting it again. Thank you all so much.

Christmas dinner was delicious, lovely and warm when served. Good amount of time in-between the 3 courses to have a little rest. Great value for the cost of the 3 courses Staff were remarkable considering how busy it was on the day. The day was very pleasant, the atmosphere was great. We were seated in a quieter area which was brilliant for my autistic daughter. Well done to all involved on Christmas day, all my family were very happy with your service from start to end, thankyou! Definitely our favourite place to visit!

This is our local, go-to pub restaurant but the experience you have is so hit and miss. On Monday’s visit the service was so slow. We received our main dishes over an hour after we arrived, and only 2 people in the party had starters so this is not what delayed it. We had to seek out staff to ask where our food was. It then arrived and the chips were overcooked, as was the kids meal chicken tenders. Very disappointing, but now becoming a more common experience here.

We ate the most delicious festive turkey meal for Sunday lunch. Will definitely be back.

Came here tonight as a walk in and immediately felt the cozy atmosphere. We were served by Eva, Scarlet and Jess and they were very friendly and catered to all our needs incredibly. As well as this the food was absolutely wonderful. Will definitely be coming here again.

Ate out as a family group with children. Pub was busy, food was great, Moretti beer was a great pint, open fire burning lovely atmosphere but the best part of experience was the staff. Eva, Scarlett and Jess were very attentive to all our needs. Nothing missed and great with the children. Asset to the establishment.

We are from the Netherlands and were passing through to Liverpool across the Peak District. We decided to stop for lunch in Macclesfield. We were warmly welcomed and got a lovely spot in this cozy and charming restaurant. The lunch was perfect! The beef sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had, and my wife’s savory tart was excellent too. Everything was freshly made, from the bread to the flavorful toppings. They really know good food here! The portions were just the right size for us. We hope to come back soon! Highly recommended!

I'm not sure if it's always this bad. We came for a Sunday roast. Took over half an hour to get served and when we did the girl that took our order said someone else needed to help with it then just never came back..we had to go find someone in the end to take our order. The food came in under 5 minutes which I'm sure is not a good sign ! The potatoes oozed grease when you bit into them. The greens had barely been cooked. A nearly cracked a tooth on the parsnips. The stuffing never came so we had to ask for it. It was cold and rock hard when it did come. Will never come here again and would recommend no one else does if you don't want to waste your money. Shame because the pub itself is lovely.

I've been coming here with my parents every week for years and we've never had a bad meal. The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly and a wide range of food and drink is available. Would highly recommend a visit.

Visited here whilst on holiday. Lovely little pub quaint and clean inside. Food pretty good but not big portions. The salad was particularly nice with a peppery sauce. The main thing that put us off was one particular staff member who looked fed up . It wasnt particularly busy inside but no reason to look like you didn't want to be there. Would go back just to try a few more dishes .

I recently visited and had a fantastic experience! The fish and chips were exceptional—better than any chippy I've tried. Crispy, flavourful, and perfectly cooked! For dessert, the apple was a delightful finish, bursting with flavour. A special shoutout to Talina for her excellent service; she was attentive and friendly, making the visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and top-notch service!

We booked a table online at very short notice last Sunday evening and were accommodated very promptly and efficiently. We arrived soon after and was directed to our table immediately. The service from this point was absolutely excellent, everything we ordered arrived promptly and as we requested. A big thank you to Jess for this as she looked after our table and was brilliant The food was excellent, cooked and presented very well indeed. We will be returning again in the future

Came in the summer and loved it. Just walked out starving. Pie was all pastry with a quarter of a carrot and a tablespoon of mash. My boyfriend’s meal was tiny also. Did complain but not offered any compensation. My partner wondered if it had changed manager. Lo and behold as we drive out it says under new management. Will not be going back. Disgustingly tight portion.

Really lovely pub and helpful, friendly staff. Although food was tasty felt portions small. Husband's fish pie very small, my sweet potato skin(1 half) filled with mashed sweet potato mixture nearly £7.Most people know the price of sweet potatoes so seems a huge mark up. Saying all that food cooked well.

Asked for a medium rare steak sandwich. Served very dry and overcooked. Beef and ale pie, more gravy than meat.

I always enjoy eating here. They cater well for gluten free people like myself and the food and service are great.

Around 25 of us descended for brunch yesterday after a party the night before. Although some had pre-ordered, another 6 turned up and ordered ad hoc. The team were amazing, they got the food out quickly, negotiated puppy and high chair and lots of people. The food was, as always, delicious. This pub is the best in the area, consistently great food, a warm welcome and great tolerance of our made puppy. Wonderful.

Its changed for the better at the minute...faultless. Just been in ordered a mixed grill, rubbish , steak 2oz chicken 2oz and gammon 4oz with 1 sausage and 15 chips. What should be a hearty meal turned out a child's size portion. Not impressed.

We stayed at a supposed 4 star hotel up the road from this pub. Their restaurant menu was not up to scratch. We came here instead one evening, and the food, drinks, and staff were all great. Highly recommended.

Plates and food could have been hotter

Returning from the Isle of Man on Sunday 30th June 2024, found ourselves approaching a familiar sight the Blacksmiths Arms. Had a meal few weeks before and waxed lyrical about that experience on Trust Pilot. Today we wanted to experience a Sunday dinner and neither my wife nor I were disappointed with the quality of the service, food and ambience. We were attended to by Luna, who was excellent in her explanations and service. I had the trio of roasts, my wife roast turkey. Dessert followed with Bakewell tart and custard for myself and my wife was blown away by the quality of the sticky toffee pudding and her request of custard instead of ice cream was not an issue. I finished the meal with a glass of Jura, a personal favourite and perfect complement to an enjoyable meal. Our complements are further extended to the chef, the unseen hero in this establishment.

Chose the chicken duo on this visit & it was very tasty. Found the chicken fillet was a good size & cooked well & filling, so much so no room for a pud. Staff very friendly & efficient. Pleasant place

Only stopped for a quick beer with my Grandson, but a very nice place so thumbs up

States dogs welcome on website but they are not allowed in the pub, not even to order drinks to take outside, therefore not welcome! Also you can only eat on the grey chairs not on the grass area therefore confined to a smaller space and restricted tables. This again is not welcoming if you have had a lovely country side walk and dog in tow. Unfortunately due to too many restrictions, you’ve lost a regular customer and I’ll go the pub down the road.

3 of us chose main meals with 1 shared starter. The chicken croquette starter was delicious. 2 of us complained about our main meals and 1 chickened out from complaining. The 2 mains were taken off the final bill. The staff did not comment on the meal which was left mostly uneaten but not complained about. Sadly, we will not be returning despite the location and building which are faultless, with pleasant interiors and great garden with patio.

We called for breakfast as part of our car club event. We pre-ordered and Harry and the team made it work like clockwork. I'm sure we will be back.

Lovely country pub on the edge of Macc. Great wine selection - love the Douro! Food was amazing - especially the pork belly! Staff were all very smiley and helpful Hadn’t been for a few years as moved out of the area but we are closer now and will be regulars I’m sure!

Popped in for lunch with my family on Friday. We were first ones in. We have eaten here several times before but this time the food and service was abysmal. Took for ever that our order was taken. We ordered 2 mixed grills, chicken combo and beef burger. Holy moly, the mixed grill was just awful, chewy and dry. Even the gammon didn't even have any colour on it. The chicken combo was awful, everything was covered in tarragon and something else extremely unpleasant. No-one asked how our food was. Took 20mins after we finished before anyone came to clear our plates. We still ordered dessert which arrived in 15mins from ordering. The dessert was better than the main but nothing special. Such a shame, we spent £120 and left very disappointed. At home now with stomach aches all round. Won't be going back there again.

The past 2 years have seen the Blacksmiths improve beyond recognition. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive (without being intrusive)... and all this is delivered with consistency. It has gone from somewhere I drive past to a place I book a table in advance.

The family a 3 course meal (main and desert in pics) for mothers days. Fantastic food and great friendly service from Harry and the team. Also eaten here a few weeks ago on the regular menu where there is plenty of choice. Highly recommend. Keep up the good work all.

Just visited with all the family (group of 13) for my mothers birthday. As always the service was great, friendly, happy, polite staff. Food came in good time of ordering especially considering the size of our group. Everybody food was great although the gammon was abit to salty for my liking but all depends how you like your gammon. Puddings were perfect as always. The Vanilla cheesecake was 👌 Brilliant value for money and will definitely be back again soon.

Visited for lunch after visiting Flora. The restaurant staff were really polite and friendly and the food was great. It is a shame I cannot give 5 stars but unfortunately the manager was short and curt in talking to staff over filling up the coffee machine with customers present at the bar area, as guests I do not expect or want to hear this and I feel was not professional as a manager. The staff were fantastic, the place was clean, food great but the manager unfortunately on this occasion failed. Something to hopefully take away and learn from. I wouldn't work for her as I do not feel there is enough respect.

We had lunchtime at the Blacksmiths, very pleasant service but I got the wrong meal, as I would have to wait I accepted the meat dinner even though I ordered fish, the waitress was very present so we let it go, it wasn't as nice as I would have liked, the sweet was delicious and well presented. It could have been better, we are trying to support local businesses as times are hard.

I enjoyed a delightful lunch here today complimented by a good glass of nicely chilled wine. I chose the steak and ale pie which was delicious as were the chips although the veg was slightly over done for my taste. The service was friendly and fairly prompt considering how busy they were, including our bus trip. I also indulged in a Bakewell tart with ice cream which didn't deliver the standard of the pie, sorry. I followed my meal with a pot of very good tea served in a pot which was sufficient for 2 cups. The bar was tastefully decorated for Christmas and the atmosphere was very festive. The toilets were very clean as were the premises. A very pleasant visit, thank you.
