Now under new ownership but still buzzing with punters for Breakfast and Lunch. We ordered the Gastown burger as we had back in April, which was not only better but we got more chips Service was speedy and the staff we very attentive, they told us about the change of ownership although everything else seems the same. I hope the cafe thrives and remains for many more of our visits.

Visited with my son when we visited Macclesfield. Really great place. Steak and cheese sandwich and halloumi fries were delicious. Service very good and plenty of staff. Outdoor tables available too. Recommended.

Lovely food, really nice place and friendly service. We all had the Egg Benedict and would say it was one of the best I’ve had.

Dirty cafe Terrible service; wait staff constantly stood around talking and not working Food is mediocre Drinks small and expensive Dirty cutlery Wobbly tables (that are dirty) and sticky menus The service is absolutely horrendous Their ONE saving grace is the cakes. But since they retain a 2* hygiene rating we will not be returning. 🤢

Fantastic breakfast menu and first class service. I would highly recommend paying a visit for breakfast or brunch. Excellent value for money too.

Visited here on Saturday with my family. We’ve never had a bad meal here previously but a few of us in our party ordered meals with the fruit salad and the fruit salad (especially the strawberries) came out mouldy and brown, another member had the royal and the majority of the smoked salmon was grey and brown. We waited around half an hour we finished to clean our plates and for someone to our table so we could inform them of the issue but no one came. We decided to go downstairs and ask for the bill, when i told the staff they rushed off to the kitchen to check with the chef and returned with a response ‘the chef said the fruit was fresh out the packet today’ and when we asked about the salmon the server quickly responded ‘salmon goes brown’. Granted this might be true but the fruit was clearly gone off and but they still decided to serve this. The chef really needs to take better care when they quality check the food they buying and serving.

What a great re visit. Went first several months ago but very snotty service so didn't go back. Gave them a second chance and had brilliant meal and excellent service. Great variety of food especially the vegetarian. Will definitely return

The house burger was delicious, the Bounty Milkshake was absolutely divine, the service really good, the music; quality. Was dancing on my seat with pure joy to the 80's classics! What a way to spend part of a day off! Even better, the Mrs paid! 🤣

Probably the best place for a full English breakfast in Macclesfield. Faultless 10/10 breakfast, highly recommended! Service was excellent as well! I will definitely be coming again!

Best breakfast in Macclesfield, with good vegan / gluten free options. Regular customer, often have catch ups with friends here. Gets really busy on treacle market weekends and also only has one table bigger that seats over 4 people, so booking needed for groups.

Lovely decor and attention to detail within the cafe, excellent friendly service from all staff. Food was excellent, would recommend 100% and shall definitely be returning again.

Popped in for Lunch which starts at 12.00 P.M. No menu in the frames outside, so went in and had a look. Had a lovely welcome and decided to stay. The House burger with skin on fries was full of flavour and plenty big enough, probably the best we have had in a while and we are pretty fussy! We sat downstairs but upstairs is bigger with a good vibe. The toilets were spotless with baby changing and a separate sink. Would recommend over the pricey Panadero Lounge.

The portions are massive and the prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend coming here, especially if you're hungry!

I came here for brunch with a friend and what a wonderful surprise! Expectations delightfully exceeded, it's such a quirky, cosy and friendly place. Tara looked after us beautifully and my burger, made with buttery, soft chicken thighs was mouthwatering - so much nicer than the usual dry chicken breast I usually end up with at similar eateries. The chipotle mayo (homemade, as is everything there) was perfectly smokey and spicy and the accompanying serving of fries was way too big for me to finish. Bravo!! I was impressed to hear that Gas Station source local and sustainable ingredients and the fabulous cakes - mmmm! I'll be back very soon (can't wait to try the cocktails 😜) - highly recommend! 👏👏👏

been to Gastown in Macclesfield for food few times now. what a fabulous place. the food is top notch, and you can tell everything is good quality and made from scratch. the staff and the owners are really friendly and make you feel so welcome. special mention to the lovely Tara who gives service with a genuine smile. this is one of my favourite places to eat. Great food, excellent service and a unique atmosphere. I highly recommend

We visited a while ago, but only just realised I haven't written a review. Opted for here as a change to our usual breakfast place, just across the road. Took a friend with us for breakfast. She has a mushroom allergy, and fancied the smaller of the full English. She ordered and informed the very young waitress about her allergy. The waitress said "hang on, I need speak to the chef". She disappeared for a minute or two, only to return to say she can't have that as EVERYTHING is cooked on the same hot plate. The sausages, the bacon, the mushrooms, the black pudding etc. I then asked if her items can be cooked in a separate pan on the hot plate. The answer was "No, I'm sorry. The only thing you can have (now pointing at the menu for us) is egg on toast". WOW! Can't fault the food when it came, mine was nice, as were her eggs on toast. However, if you do suffer from allergies, you really shouldn't eat here. Very little effort made for those who are unfortunate enough to suffer from them. Probably won't be returning.

Avoid. I went here for the first time last Saturday about 1pm. The ground floor wasn’t busy and there were several seats available. Looks beautiful on the outside, but the inside is disappointing and looks unclean. The tables and menus are sticky and there are food stains up the white walls. The decor is very low budget which if the premises was clean and well serviced, I would overlook. Me and my friend ordered drinks which took 10 minutes to come. We ordered two burgers which after 30 minutes of waiting I asked the staff how much longer they would be and nobody seemed to know about our order, so they said they’ll sort it. The food was very obviously low-cost cash n carry food put in the oven, not worth the £12 charged. The lady on the table next to us was trying to get the staff’s attention for several minutes to order. The annoying thing is, there were about 6-8 staff all stood around the till chatting. It seemed an excessive amount of staff for the venue and doesn’t really seem acceptable to have the poor service when there’s no shortage of staff. Needless to say that I won’t be returning here. For all the cafes opening in Macc, I’m unable to see how this one can compete and for how poor our experience was, I can only think that this place exists for laundering purposes.

The food is amazing, staff are lovely and the atmosphere is a very relaxed brunch vibe. They are dog friendly which is a huge plus for us, and the wait time for food is very good even when they are slammed busy! Food is consistently tasty and good value too

Was ok. The drinks were nice enough but nothing special. We arrived and were very flippantly told to just sit on the closest table in an unwelcoming manner. The waitress who was working wasn’t very friendly and spent the whole half an hour we were there staring at my boyfriend and chatting to her friend. Plus the table we were put on was dirty. Probably won’t be returning

Visited this place a few times and it has been great every time! Would recommend the breakfast and the Biscoff milkshake!

I had two poached eggs on sourdough bread. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the bread was delicious. Accompanied with a Decaf latte. I enjoyed my breakfast and would recommend GasTown.

This is still the best in macclesfield,ive tried most of the others in the town, this place the place, really good choice of breakfasts-and other delights-even cocktails.all the staff are very professional thanks Tara. and the rest of the team.alway enjoy my visit in the Gastown cafe bar.will be back in the new year-merry Christmas.

Amazing breakfast. I have eaten at all the cafes in Macclesfield and this breakfast is the best by far. Really friendly quick service and great food. The portion size was massive but it was also obvious that all the ingredients are quality. Talking to the staff, it’s nice to know that the owners support other local businesses by buying quality ingredients from other local small businesses. I also notice they do alcohol. We will be back for a boozy afternoon at some point with great food! I am going to persuade the office to come here for a late lunch and a few drinks. In summary - the best breakfast I have ever had and quick friendly service.

Fantastic quality breakfast, great staff and reasonably priced. The breakfast was outstanding. Coffee is also fantastic.

Went with a couple of friends for lunch. Whilst the food was of good quality the service let it down. We had ordered two pots of tea, one only was delivered, after waiting 10 minutes we were told the other tea would follow shortly, which eventually arrived 10 minutes later. Later we waited 10 minutes for 2 cups of cappucino. We didnt feel that the staff were very attentive. We have been previously and it has always been busy but regretfully we will not be rushing back in the foresseable future.

Been to Gastown before during the week and found it to be a good local cafe/restaurent. Unfortunately today there were full and things were not great. Waited 35 mins for poached egg on toast. When it arrived the eggs were overcooked . Staff very friendly but they need to improve speed of service when busy.

Lovely lunch today, halloumi and chicken burgers with fries. Both very tasty and value for money. Fries hot and crisp. Would definitely recommend and will return. Staff all great.

We sat upstairs, which is really spacious and relaxed. Service was great and food was delicious. Absolutely gorgeous Haloumi burger in a cute pink bun and husband said his BLT was divine. Chips were fresh and well cooked. Had a mooch round Macc afterwards which was lovely too. We will definitely come back to try more things on the menu. Waitress recommended the pumpkin spiced cafe so will give that a go.

Went for lunch today with my husband. Best chai latte I’ve ever had! Haloumi burger was delicious, as were the fries. Hubby had the BLT and said the bacon was amazing. Great atmosphere and service too, will definitely be back.

Cute cafe for breakfast & lunch.. But the best part is.... Im from America/Florida and got the hot honey fried chicken sandwich and hands down its the best one i have eaten in my 40 years of living. Im going again tomorrow before i leave to go back to America.

We had a lovely lunch at Gastown. We both had the halloumi burger and it was delicious. Such generous chunks of halloumi and complemented wonderfully by the chilli jam and avocado. Service was prompt and friendly. A great experience and will be going back again for sure!

We booked a table for 11am through the Facebook page, I highly recommend booking as people were turned away as the downstairs and upstairs tables were all full. We were on the breakfast menu, I had a caramel latte and the smashed avacado with a poached egg. The food was absolutely delicious, the poached egg was practically perfect, loads of flavour with the chilli flakes and the side of fruit salad was a great touch and fresh. I didn’t feel like service was slow but if you’re in a rush, you won’t be getting your food in fifteen minutes but why would you want rushed food? Worth the visit, somewhere I’d definitely go again.

They do lovely vegetarian food here but our last experience was not great. Took a sticky table upstairs and waited. Slow service and when the unsmiling woman came to serve us, she could only take the coffee order? As it happened the coffee was lukewarm when it arrived, a real bugbear of mine. Sure we'll be back but breakfasts are one thing Macclesfield still does well.

Top marks for this independent cafe. The food is always spot on and so is the coffee. Relaxed vibe and chilled out music. Staff are very friendly and positive. Breakfast is served till 2pm which is great for us late risers.

Gastown has to be one of the best places to go for breakfast or lunch in Macclesfield. The quality of their food is amazing and the staff are fabulous. I would highly recommend.

Amazing Food, Had the pastrami sandwich which is huge and delicious. Fast and attentive service despite it being very busy and every table full. Kids meal for £5 was perfect and good value.

First time here....Nice coffee, setting amd attentive staff. Arrived at 9:50 and order taken and served it at 10:25 so quite a wait on food. Great quality and presentation when it did arrive. Will give it a other try as food is really good.
