We had a fantastic Sunday roast and overall experience at The Botanist! The building is gorgeous and the decor is stunning, particularly the bar and the beautiful lighting fixture in the center of the room. We had the sweet chilli fries, the mushroom Wellington and the roast chicken (with pork stuffing), all of which were delicious. Also, the staff couldn't have been more warm and friendly. There is also a live singer on a piano, who is brilliant and created the perfect ambience for a Sunday afternoon. Knutsford has many lovely restaurants/bars but this is surely one of the best, very highly recommend.

The kebab was incredible, they are so dog friendly! We went mid day which probably helped Have gone back since (in March 2024) and there was a 2-4-1 deal on the kebabs, they were just as good as the last time I went and my collegues loved it, its great!

Gosh darn those pork scratchings were too die for, there was live music and it hass well thought out seating. Overall it was very pleasant and i look forward to going back

We had four of the two for one kebabs between three of us and one had fish and chips, the kebabs were all lovely, prawn, lamb and pork belly. All came with fries. Three of us polished off the four kebabs n fries no problem, they are not large portions and we are not big eaters.. The dips that came with the kebabs were not very nice but not really needed. The fish and chips with mushy peas were terrible! The batter was over cooked on the outside and raw almost lard like on the inside. We were told this was because is was gluten free. I think catering for the minority has spoiled it for the majority. Not good. Not sure what they had done to the peas, obviously home made but whatever herbs they had in them were completely overpowering. The service was good, the price was good but won’t be going back.

Fantastic place! The food and drinks are gorgeous and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Can’t fault it! We’ll be back over & over again. Also massive bonus that it is dog friendly so we can visit with our special little guy! 🐾Thank you!

Generally speaking we always have a great time at The Botanist in Knutsford, but our visit on Sunday fell a little below par. At no point did a staff member check in with us during our courses to ensure everything was okay. Another thing we noticed was my friend and I both ordered a roast dinner, and rather than a pot of gravy each there was a small pot to share between the two of us (nowhere near enough and we had to ask for more), and we had a small bowl of veggies to share (one piece of tenderstem each). When paying almost £20 each I would have expected a bowl each. The table beside us did in fact get a bowl each - so what was the difference?! We also had one of the sharing cookie dough desserts which didn’t come with strawberries (despite this being listed on the menu). A small detail yes, but something that is required amongst the masses of chocolate. For well over £100, we didn’t think we got our monies worth on this occasion.

Roast is really good quality and well presented, portions could be slightly bigger. Service was good.

The actual place itself is nice inside and good location. The food was average, my husband had the chicken kebab and said it was lovely, I opted for the lamb kebab but it was very tough. The lady serving us was lovely, when we paid the bill at the end we paid cash and she came over and said I can’t give you any change because we don’t have any! It didn’t matter because it was only £3.50 but the fact we had paid service charge they need to make sure they have change , would try again because we are new to the area and maybe next time just don’t have lamb and pay by card!!!

Quite good food; decent prices. Good stop for someone passing through the area with friends. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Knutsford area for whatever reason.

Disappointing visit. Only came for a couple of drinks but had put on the booking it was for pre wedding drinks, I’d expected someone to maybe just say “congratulations”. The chap serving us lacked any real customer service, the man behind the bar was ok. Wouldn’t return based on this.

Perfect location for a family get-together of three generations. Would certainly recommend.

Visited quite a few times over the past year, unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience from our most recent visit. Contacted the restaurant raising concerns (in November) via the online contact form but I've still not received any form of response. Follow up- Despite emailing to the address provided in the restaurants response, I am still yet to receive a reply. Disappointing!

The service was great. The food was lovely. Especially the hanging kebabs.

Booking our table was easy on line. We were received by very welcoming staff and shown to our table immediately. The food was excellent, the service even better. Added to that, we were entertained by a table magician who amazed our 7 year old and the live music just made the evening complete. Thank you Botonist for giving me a perfect birthday

Lovely setting but cocktails where not great. Bar staff huffy because no stock available to make anything. Ended up with an old fashioned but it wasn't

Terrible online booking service, despite receiving confirmation email I was charged £10pp more. Food quite honestly very poor, cold and dessert i think was thrown together in emergency and inedible. Sent email of complaint and not had a reply 2 weeks later-not impressed at all. And it was not busy.

as usual food was very nice, but no Chorizo option for the hanging kebab, and no option to switch out the sharing kebabs to have chicken instead of the seafood mix. Service charge now included automatically which I don't understand and think it needs to be shown on all menu's pricing up front.

Wonderful night out with friends - great service and food

Food arrived cold, missing dishes, wrong dishes.

Place recommend by a friend so we gave it a go. We were asked to pre order with 7 days in advance as we were a party of 17 people. Our food arrived 1 hour after we all sat down. 6 dishes arrived stone cold, 2 of them got sent back to the kitchen and the chef kindly reheated these in the microwave. That’s right. They didn’t bothered to remove the fresh parsley as garnish on the chicken katsu curry and heated that up too. The other 4 were hungry and didn’t want to send back their food to be reheated. We received 3 wrong dishes which were then sent back and the correct ones arrived when the rest of us almost finished their meals. We also received the only 2 starters we pre ordered but after the main course. Service was good although it was busy and not enough staff. We understand the place is busy during Xmas period but when you ask to pre book your food way in advance you would at least expect them to be well organised and the food served piping hot and on time. Overall a bad experience considering the price we paid and the fact that we had to pre order food only for it to be served cold or wrong. Won’t be going back.

Interesting atmosphere, original server excellent, however when I asked another server for assistance I was treated very badly. Shame as that is now how I remember the restaurant. Plenty of other restaurants in Knutsford.

Food was fab, staff were lovely and the live music really gave it a festive atmosphere.

The food was good but we had to wait more than one hour. We complained but they said its Sunday so we still had to wait. Very nice place, live music... Maybe a bit to load for a day time... After all that waiting the food came, very delicious and different from other places but in a good way. It's a must go restaurant if you can wait for the food... But we had to caught a flight so our time was precious... Its a shame we had to eat in 5 min because of the delay.

Service was great, with a smile. Atmosphere was more lively earlier on - about 6:30. I was a little disappointed with the food; the festive menu was a little over priced for what it was.

Food was amazing would highly recommend! Service was good but a few mistakes were made, we were offered welcome drinks and chose these, only for the waiter to return and say it was a mistake and we wouldn't get them with the menu we had chosen. Feel like they should have known which menu we had because we pre-ordered. They also didn't know what deposit had been paid when we got the bill and said one thing then phoned me on the way home to say it was a mistake and it was something different. Apart from that the service during the meal was great and we had a lovely time

Staff very pleasant but had to wait a long time for our pre-ordered meal. Over charged at end of meal due to computer software, but having argued our case we were granted a reduction. We should not have had to complain about this. Spoilt our early Christmas meal with our friends.

I was disappointed with my Bang Bang Chicken Salad, the noodles were like rubber bands (not that I've ever eaten rubber bands), which spoilt the dish for me. Next time I will stick with Katsu Curry. I mentioned this to the waitress, but she seemed quite disinterested. On the plus side the affogato coffee mini dessert was spot on, The upstairs dining atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and I would come back again.

Visited friends who took us here for lunch. Food very good and reasonably priced.

Brilliant place to eat, busy Friday afternoon and great service throughout the meal.

The food was absolutely beautiful but we ordered 2 Sunday roasts and had to ask for sauces to be brought which took quite a while. After our meal nobody came to offer another drink and finally the bill came Incorrect, two of us purchased 2 course offer but were charged for each course seperately and had to ask for a correction which was dissapointing. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and there was a singer on the night which we also enjoyed.

Thank you for a super 60th celebration with friends. I was made to feel so very welcome. The drinks arrived quickly and the food was great as always. Service was so friendly thank you very much.

A lovely pub with lovely staff. I quite liked the industrial theme too. Staff where very polite and made us feel very welcome. The live music was a very nice addition, which created a very warm and buzzing atmosphere.

Thank you so much to our server, young girl with dark long hair was looking after my family table on Sunday 5th November afternoon. Every time she gives us an excellent service and are soo friendly and nice. Last time my husband asked on Sunday if he could have a pork kebab which wasn't on the menu that day and she was so kind to sort it out that chefs made his favourite meal. We try to visit Knutsford time to time and always have a dinner at your restaurant! Lovely place and please say to your waitress a massive thank you ( sorry for not catching her name) Other staff were lovely too and a singer was unbelievably good! See you soon! Great food, atmosphere and staff. Top!

We visited for lunch mid-week. it was relatively quiet. Service was freindly and efficient. The Botanist has great decor and a relaxing atmosphere. The food was perfectly acceptable, but it didn't have a Wow factor and it seemd quite pricey for what it was. I would go back, but not in a hurry to do so

We had a wonderful visit to the Botanist and will definitely be returning. We were in Knutsford to take our Beagle, Copper, to Tatton Park and was looking for somewhere dog friendly to get some lunch after. We'd been to a different restaurant on the high street before but on Sundays they had very limited menus whereas The Botanist had a main menu running alongside their Sunday Lunch menu which gave a lot of choice and was a big plus for us. On arrival the staff were fabulous with our dog, giving him fusses and treats and we were really accommodating putting us out of the way. The drinks menu is really extensive, even the alcohol free selection which was a bonus. We had a Sunday roast and a hanging kebab and can recommend both, Copper also enjoyed the veggies! Highly recommended, for dog owners and non- dog owners alike

What a great team!!!!!!! the most attentive staff for a big (40+ attendees) dinner. We've never been looked after so well. The food was amazing too and all guests enjoyed their evening. Thank you team Botanist Knutsford, we will be back :-)

It was a very odd Sunday in knutsford botantist, the staff were preoccupied and told us there weren't things on the menu but couldn't remember what. Then they'd bring our food, it all came at different times and we asked for cutlery and it came about 10 minutes later too. All the tables had some sort of problem, food not arrived, no one taking orders... wasn't the happiest times

For a Friday night it was dead. Only good thing was the live singer. Place was cold with no atmosphere . Very disappointed.

It was a fun bingo night with live music, food really nice as always, service slow as always. You need another server, the extra money you would get for drinks per table would be significant. I like the botanist but you need to sort out your service, you always seem short staffed and the waiters/waitresses work really hard.

Our server was fantastic after disappointing food, not much chicken on the hanging kebabs & the chips were disgusting, so hard & inedible. We were offered free desserts as an apology, this was much appreciated.

My hanging kebab was well overcooked and tasted charred. We only received one napkin between 3 of us and we weren’t asked how our food was, as they normally do. The new iPad paying system didn’t work properly and the transaction ended up unnecessarily complicated.

Myself and 5 of my friends met for lunch this week, Monday, at The Botanist. Service was great, our waiter( apologies I have forgotten your name) was super polite, helpful and attentive… Food was absolutely delicious (, though one friend commented that the hanging prawn kebab could have been more hot) The restaurant was airy and there was plenty of room for us around the table. There was pleasant music playing in the background so we could hear what each other was saying!! We have booked for our Christmas get together already. I definitely recommend this lovely restaurant. I had already eaten there previously and again service was excellent.

The food was excellent, and having 2 veggies in the party it was nice to have a decent selection to choose from, the service was great and we will very be returning.

Came on Sunday for lunch, they had a live singer. Lovely setting upstairs. Iv been to the one in Manchester City so thought to eat here. The hanging kabab was different from Manchester only one hanging meat with choice of rice or chips which was abit small dish compared to 3 hanging ones I got in Manchester. And no salad with dish had to order separately after. Abit expensive for a lunch with no offers on cocktails. But was nice enough.

Visited the botanist (Knutsford) today and can say, whole heartedly, the best roast dinner I’ve ever had. And to accompany this, the best service I have received in a long time. Nothing was too much for anyone and special recognition to the manager who catered for our every need. Being retired, me and my wife like to indulge most weekends so are acutely aware of how rare 10/10 service is. Thanks again to the team and everyone at botanist who made our experience so lovely. Beautiful setting, very well decorated and amazing staff. Shame about the food. Honestly some of the blandest and overcooked food I've ever had, left 50% of it. 'well seasoned fries' having a laugh, nothing on them. Bread with the hummus was inedible, chicken wings were over cooked and tasteless. Mushrooms just tasted of oil and grease. Cocktails were decent and like I say staff were lovely but wouldn't return.

Quite possibly some if the worst food I have had. We ordered a variety of small plates, the wings were dry and hard, the seriously seasoned fries had no seasoning, the bread was burnt and hard. Everything just tasted bland or of oil and I was sick the rest of the night.

Live music was so loud even the server had a sore throat from shouting to be heard. Camembert starter was lovely - Lamb kofta kebab under seasoned and disappointing.

Went for a friends birthday party, disappointed to say the least. Way over booked. The poor staff run off their feet. They were missing over 8 items of food on the menu. No notice of this in advance. Human feces all over the men’s bathroom floor and up the walls, although staff did clean when asked. Overall not a great experience.

Went for lunch with several friends, a few weeks ago. There were five of us in total - one vegan, one vegetarian and the rest of us with no particular requirements. The menu isn't cheap but there is a very good selection of options and the food was great quality and extremely tasty. All of us enjoyed our meals - mains and desserts. Several of us had the vegan roast dinner - a Celeriac and Mushroom Wellington with gravy and various veg - it was really delicious! I had a fully vegan meal - the Wellington and a Banana Sundae - even though I'm not vegan myself. I was very full and very happy at the end of my meal. We hadn't eaten there before and my friends were impressed with the place and really pleased to have tried it out. We sat upstairs, where there is an atrium - it was a lovely day and it was so nice and bright up there. The decor of the place is a funky, rustic-vintage style - and it's dog-friendly too! (At least it was downstairs... not sure about upstairs). The staff were good and friendly - the young girl who served us had a really good sense of humour. All in all a very nice afternoon out and we would all go again!!

We’ve been to the one in Alderley edge which was lovely so we thought we’d try the one at knutsford which was also a great experience! Highly recommend it 👌❤️👌❤️👌

We went for the bingo and it was great. A live musician playing 30 seconds of a song and if you have it you cross it off. Atmosphere was great, we had a glass of prossecco which was lovely and the sharing cookie dough which was beautiful.

I ordered the chicken hanging kebab and had raw chicken, when I told the server, she said it was probably a thick piece of chicken, which didn’t warrant the raw chicken and upset stomach days later.

Almost forgot to review this little gem! Hanging kebabs are delicious and fun (we had katsu curry), dessert was also really nice! Service is just perfect. Only negative note: it's full of plastic plants where there is so much light that they could grow bananas... Plastic botanist?!?!

Food genuinely amazing, service was really good. Always super nice here. Only thing I’d say is the music from the performer was just a tiny bit too loud when you’re sat on the terrace right above them - we had to shout a bit to hear each other at times.
