No cask ales (all 3 were off) and no food so didnt drink or eat. To be fair the kitchen had had a leak but why not update their Facebook page to warn people?

Has to be one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a long time. Everything was hot and freshly cooked, roast potatoes amazing and the beef was served beautifully pink. Couldn’t fault it, will definitely be back.

Have been for drinks as well as a Sunday roast. Who'd have thought a little back street pub could be capable of turning out such good food, cooked perfectly and very tasty. Cosy pub and environment, friendly staff and locals. Dog friendly also. Look forward to going back!

Food arrived in a bit of a state as one of the gravies in the bag had popped open and made the boxes soggy and very difficult to serve out on plates. Also pudding wasn’t what I’d ordered, got chocolate cake as opposed to apple crumble.

Not a nice place, drug dealers living there, landlady off her face behind the bar everyday. I will never be going in there again such a hostile atmosphere

Don't even bother ordering take away food it's abysmall. We ordered a turkey and a beef roast dinner the beef was one slab of beef the turkey was like rocks the veg was rock hard and raw I don't even know what the Yorkshire puddings were and to top it of the "pig in blanket" was one sausage split between the 2 "meals" and no bacon atall there was no stuffing or cauliflower cheese and like one scoop of mash shocking. It was a child's portion at best. Did ask just eat for a refund but as the food was delivered they didn't refund and suggested I took it up with the restaurant witch I did they was happy to refund untill they relized I'd left a 1 star review on just eat so still no refund 🤷♀️ sorry but nothing like what they advertise on there Facebook and if you don't want 1 star reviews don't send out 1 star food simple 👍

Held Mother's wake here. Hosts made every effort to make us all feel more than welcome. Exceptional food at a highly reasonable price, beautifully presented and great quality. Could not recommend this place highly enough after our experience! Lovely layout and spotlessly clean. Will definitely call again when in the vicinity. Thanks once again ! The Potter family

We noticed in passing a few weeks ago a sign saying dogs are welcome. On our very rare evening out with our dog we headed there to support our local pub. We were met at the door and told we could not bring our dog in as they were too busy. Yes our dog is big (great dane) but she's an absolute darling and would have sat happily by us without disturbing anyone. As the door was open we could see the pub was busy in the back but empty both to the left and right of the front. We would not return here as we were given a very warm reception at The Bate Hall so would definitely give them our future business.

Absolutely love this place, traditional values in a modern and friendly environment. It’s got a great mix of being both a place for a chilled pint and a good night out. Proper home cooked food, with fantastic house spirits offers and a good selection of northern ales on tap. Husband insists it’s the best place in town for a Guinness.

Called in the Plough one weekday and was a bit disappointed. There were a few people in but there was no atmosphere and we didn't really receive a friendly welcome. 2 beers to chose from, Tetley and a golden ale, the other pump was off. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. I guess the positive reviews on TA must be based on dining. I'm afraid I won't be returning, it's just a pub I've never got on with.

Came here for a sunday lunch with my family after looking for a home cooked sunday lunch in macclesfield. Decided on here. Food was great, really well priced and hot. The only niggle i had was what i guessed was the landlord who had a sign outside saying live sports but when we asked about the football weirdly replied with ‘its not a football pub’ well why have you got a sign outside saying you show sports and sky sports stickers all over the windows!! Anyway that annoyed but the food was really nice. Try making proper mash though in future not smash.

Love this place and since we have moved its essentially our local. Visited say 3 times in the last 6 months and the food has always been great. I prefer sitting in the bar area for a meal as its a better atmosphere but it is down to personal taste. Food is great always good quality, reasonably priced and presented well. The new owner makes the effort to come to the table and serve if needed. Only slight downside is that it can get quite noisy if busy but its because its so popular so this is to be expected. Brill all round and will be returning. Staff are always pleasant and make the experience better in my opinion. Go you won't be disappointed.

Having parked the car up on a car park in Macclesfield we were wandering the streets to find somewhere to have a bite to eat. Out of the blue we stumbled across the plough in a side street. The pub has a very friendly atmosphere and we were made very welcome by the staff and local clientele. The food and drink we had were both very good. The food was served hot and very tasty also very good value. They have daily specials and senior citizen lunches. We were passing through on our way to a two night break to the peak district, however the food and welcome we received had to be repeated, therfore we called again on the way back home. Anyone wanting good wholesome food, reasonably priced, and good ale, with a friendly atmosphere, this is the place. Not to be missed. Thank you.

We visited the Wizard Tea Rooms while attending a corporate volunteering day at Alderley Edge National Trust Park, and what a treat the Tea Rooms were! From start to finish, my colleague and I had easy communication with the lovely ladies who run the tea rooms - Harriet and Rachel. They provided us with the menu and prices in advance of the day, and we decided to opt for teas and coffees in the morning, soup and sandwiches for lunch, and another round of teas of coffees after lunch for our group of 26. One week on and I'm still talking about the delicious mushroom and garlic soup, cheese and beetroot sandwiches, BLTs and egg mayo sandwiches! We felt everything was reasonably priced, and the ladies took great care of us on the day -nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Wizard Tea Rooms to friends and family, or corporate companies. In fact, I will be back to visit with my kids and dog for an ice cream (yes they do doggy ice cream too!) Also - the venue itself is gorgeous - seating indoors (all 26 fit inside), but plenty outside too. Really charming old-world feel inside the tea room which we all loved. Many thanks to the wonderful staff for looking after us so well - Alison and James.
