great Pub in Macc, friendly staff.

Poor service despite venue being practically empty, came for food, did not bring any menus over, didn’t tell us we needed to order at the bar, staff at the bar looking at their phones, promptly left and went somewhere else.

Lovely restaurant and bar with a great range of ales with a fully stocked bar with a great range of cocktails. Service is always friendly and helpful with a quiz once a month with money raised going to charity. Food can sometimes be hit and miss but overall I nice place to eat and drink

The Singapore noodle was very good.

Nice beer options, nice outdoor tables, friendly staff.

Lovely, lively place but our food orders were mixed up. The bar staff are brilliant but they need more people - waiting ten minutes to order on a busy Saturday night is not good.

Tonight was my first time here. Lilly dealt with my rum allergy, above and beyond. After ordering cocktails that I thought I’d like. I didn’t enjoy so they gave me alternatives. Jamie the bar man was a lifesaver tonight and I loved my cocktails after further adjustments . Julia talked through it all and was so welcoming and homely. Thank you to all the staff for creating such a welcoming and open atmosphere where I felt comfortable to address my allergies. I would definitely return again. Not only is the atmosphere good but the staff are amazing and a credit to the business

Came across by accident. Been twice this week first time just called for a pint of cask ale. Second time for some food as well, what a really nice burger! 🤤🤤🤤 and it was big too. Definitely back when I'm next in the area. Even got a shout bye from the staff as I was leaving.

Stopped in for a few pints, it wasn't cheap but nice atmosphere and a decent pint

I don’t give bad reviews with working in hospitality but I’ve got to write this, it was disgraceful coming to your venue tonight, I initially came in to get some cocktails for pre drinks with a friend as I approached the bar I waited in the que to be served a lady next to me went first which I’m glad she did because the attitude on the girl serving was disgusting she was so aggressive with her actions throwing bottles around the lady next to me ordered shots which the girl serving didn’t like as she huffed making them she then spilled them all which made her more angry I felt really uncomfortable to think I was next to be served by this women lucky a gent served me but if that is what your greeted to at the bar for the price in there I’d rather not bother to be honest.

I came with my friends there was 3 of us and my baby of 17 months old. The waitress was very unfriendly..was not welcoming. We ordered in the bar and i added a separate order for my baby and she rolled her eyes. When we got to sit down i ask for a high chair and she didn’t say anything and then came back and just thrown it and walked off..it was very bad..it was not even busy so i am not sure why she was behaving that way..it makes me think maybe because we are ASIANS? I am very disappointed. We were all very disappointed even my friends said the same..We wont be coming back..We came at 13pm and the food took so long as well.. very bad experience. What shock me was the attitude of the waitress..never been treated this way anywhere..i have been in many restaurants and have not experienced this before..

Holly and Alice were absolutely fantastic - we had a wonderful night in Alfred’s and the atmosphere was more than expected! We will definitely be coming back as we had a lovely night & the food was divine!!! If you’re looking fire somewhere inviting & cosy in Macclesfield, Alfred’s is the bar for you!!!! Xx

2 bar lady’s,2 angry people!!!!!! make just don’t come back anymore people like me in 20 years of hospitality! my opinion,first the respect for the costumers,smile at least! Professional as a bartenders,but is not enough!I WILL NEVER COMEBACK!

If a local says we'll meet at Jar Bar, this is where they mean due to its original name (it's had several). Nice atmosphere, they have a few different beers available and also do cocktails. Food is above average for a bar.

Always looked after here by kind and friendly staff. Christmas nibbles well worth a try. Staff attentive even when delivery came middle of lunchtime and they were stretched. Well worth a visit over the Christmas time or anytime really

I stopped by on the recommendation of a good local friend. I was not disappointed - the food was very good, the service was polite and friendly and whilst the wait for food to come out felt a little long, it’s completely understandable when the food was so good. Can definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice meal.

As a bar it's OK, food on the other hand was disappointing, they changed items on the menu without letting you know first. Then received heavily salted fries and microwaved food. Won't be eating there again I'm afraid.

Staff always really friendly, well spaced out, food is lovely..go all out for Halloween and other events, great bar!!

This place is awful ..wouldn't even let my children in because they had joggers on ..what are they going to do cause a fight at 13 years of old .. absolute joke ...

The place is very nice, but the staff is not. Working as a bar person - staff should make sure that people feel comfortable and welcome. Alfred's staff did not make me feel that way. Bartenders need sometimes smile on their faces. It was one nice young waitress.

Only had the home made soup for lunch, but made to perfection. I will go again soon

Good cask beer which is hard to find these days. And top burgers.

The venue is beautiful and food from a buffet was lovely, however upon asking for more fries for the buffet as not enough for the party were provided an extra charge was added. Considering Alfred’s did not provide enough per head this was entirely there fault. Upon querying this on payment the manager was extremely rude and ignorant and mimicked the situation to other bar men after In front of customers. Other than the manger however other staff were helpful and nice. Yet this would deter myself and many of my friends from returning due to the managers bad attitude and arrogant behaviour towards the party organiser.

This place is so lovely, but only as a place, It's a nice spot at the heart of Macclesfield. But it deserves only 2 stars because the staff is unfriendly and unexpressed. When I had been there for some drinks with my partner the server didn't allow us to sit because my partner was dressed in tracksuit. It's not her fault I can understand it, that's the policy of the business , but it wasn't busy so I was so comfused and I expected that they wanted more customers and as a consequence more money. At the same time I noticed that some customers were dressed very casual, so it was so weird hearing that we aren't allowed to sit for that reason. I am leaving this feedback because I know what I mean working at a bar/restaurant/Cafe because I do the same. That's a shame for them. The drinks also are fair and not so premium but you get what you pay for.

We were hosted by Jamie and Holly who made us feel very welcome, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed and we ended up staying longer than planned.

Myself and 2 other visited for lunch in early January…. I visit mandarina for a drink regularly and the service is always quick and the quality of the beer good. We had food on this occasion and were surprised with both the good portion size and quality We had- 1. Steak ciabatta + Fries- steak was cooked well nice and tender and fries were crispy 2. X2 Chicken wrap- good amount of filling and again crispy fries We also had a couple of coffees that were freshly made and some orange juice For a quick, tastey lunch with reasonable prices I would definitely recommend, not many alternatives in macclesfield

Bit of a statement here... But quite possibly the best lasange I've ever had, delicious! I was full half way through but it was so good I kept going until it was gone. My partner had the beef burger and he loved that too. Nice bar/restaurant vibes. Lovely staff, felt very welcome. Just here for a flying visit but If we're back in the area we won't hesitate to come back here! 10/10

Day out on Macclesfield, fell upon Mandarin. So glad we did, lunchtime menu was impressive, ordered fish finger butty. The food was good old fashioned good cooking, delicious 😋 the dressing on the side salad was to die for! Thoroughly recommended for good food. Good service and friendly atmosphere 👌 👍 well done the owner and staff it was an enjoyable experience
