We went for a couple of drinks before catching the train. Staff were friendly, beer was standard supply, toilets upstairs would be a struggle for anyone with mobility issues to get to. Will probably go again.

We've ordered takeaway from here a few times and it's always been phenomenal! The chicken and chorizo pasta is a firm favourite. The delivery time was accurate if a bit long but can't complain for fresh, hot food. Having never been in to eat I can't comment on the atmosphere but I'm sure it's just as good. Will definitely eat again

We visited for lunch, we both had paninis which were ok. We ordered a cappuccino with soya milk, unfortunately they didn’t have any oat milk. It was weak and tasteless. We had 2 different home made tray bakes, they looked very appetising but unfortunately both were tasteless.

I've been eating my lunch at Coffee and Cream whenever I am working in Carlisle for the past few years and I love it. The jacket potato with cheese savoury is the best I have ever had anywhere and I really appreciate the frendly personal service. Highly recommended.

Outstanding food and friendly staff. Cash only if you order at the counter but if you order online or via their app then you can use card. Easy to get to but parking is a issue at the weekend due to it's closeness to botchergate and the hotel nearby. Very much recommended.

Definitely NOT the original Johns Plaice. Me and my family and our friends (4 kids and 4 adults) decided to stay here on the way home from bowling in Carlisle. It's always been really expensive so we have only ever stopped off here once in a while as a treat and it's always been absolutely beautiful, today however it was awful. One of my friends kids had a huge piece of cling film stuck to his steak pie which he said was slimy anyway. The gravy on my meal was some sort of cheap bisto rip off probably from Aldi, not the usual chippy gravy which everyone knows and loves and my friends curry was also not usual chip shop curry and some sort of fruity blend which she left. We also overheard other tables complaining about the curry and saying the fish was dry same as ours. The kids meals were ok at least. Service was great but when asked if we'd like to speak to the manager/boss and agreeing, he just sent the waitress back with an apology rather than coming to discuss it himself which I didn't think was very professional of him or fair to his clearly embarrassed waitress who was lovely with us. They did deduct the cost of the pie with cling film in but all of the food was just nothing like it used to be here and even with one meal deducted, it cost us £96 for 4 adults and 4 kids in a chippy??? Won't be going back in a hurry. It's definitely gone downhill since last time we visited, it appears they've started using really cheap supplies and still raised their already expensive prices. more expensive than most pub meals I've had recently. Please bring back the "Original Johns Plaice"!

It's a lovely spot with tons of free parking, but the prices are ridiculous. £5:50 for a small slice of lemon meringue pie is taking the mick. On the plus side the decor's really nice and the staff are pleasant and efficient, but I won't be back.
