The best restaurants in Carlisle North West

I was in the Appletree a week or so ago and came in with my friend we ordered the food and it was really nice but while we was sat eating we could hear a young man behind the bar being called homophobic slurs like fa**ot and them bullying him for being gay safe to say me nor my friend will be coming back at all!!

Good Premiere Inn just outside Carlisle, rooms upto the usual standard and the Beefeater pub attached is good too, nice food and good breakfasts 👍

Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and extensive menu. The staff were lovely and helpful, food was incredible and the cocktails were fantastic! It’s easily the best restaurant in Carlisle and I’ll definitely be back, can’t recommend it enough!

The first thing I noticed was that it was Animal friendly. The Starter Menu had a good selection, but the prices were just slightly high, but that said the standard of the food is high across the board. The Main Menu prices are high, but again the food is well presented, and standards are high. To suit all individuals, there is a lunch menu, where all selections are under a tenner. Draught Beer prices range from £6- £7 per pint. The service was quick and efficient, though to be fair it was quiet when we were there. The staff and owners were friendly, and were kind to children and animals. Also there was a good car park outside. It is wheelchair accessible, the entrance is flat, but you will need someone to hold the doors open.

We are so sorry to see vafe closed, such a great place to grab a fabulous breakfast or even a snack. We always had a great chat with owner. What a shame

I work all over the country and very rarely find take-away Chinese food this good. Had Yung chow fried rice with curry one night and Shrimp Foo Yung with chips another. Both perfect Highly recommend this place.

Just had a sweet and sour pork with fried rice and king prawn fried rice delivered. Very dissapointed, pork was mostly fat and king prawn rice very dry Rang up to tell them but passed twice to owner who said ok understood!!! Sorry but won t be using again after spending £23.50!!!!!

Food arrived hot, everything tasted lovely. My only complaint is that the naan bread that came was not what I ordered, but it was still nice regardless.

The food was spectacular like always. Third time coming in swear it gets better every time. Staff are absolutely brilliant very friendly and polite. I cannot give it enough praise one of the best places to eat at in Carlisle for me anyways. Please come give such a brilliant place a go to give them support.

Fantastic place for a night out, food,drink music, sports on the TV most nights too.

Best chippy restaurant in cumbria

Took 30 minutes to take our food order and another 30 minutes for starters. No one came to clear plates or ask us if we wanted more drinks in between courses/ when serving food. Mains eventually came - no one asked if our meals were ok or if we wanted condiments with our roasts. Had to keep attracting attention of servers. Eventually they said they’d come back to take drinks orders - didn’t happen. Ordered desserts and was promised they were straight to serve - another 30 minutes. We complained about the service a few times and got a pathetic “sorry”. There were plenty of servers and chefs - other tables turned over quickly so not sure why we we were invisible. Thankfully the 4 young children we had with us were amazing - maybe if they hadn’t been we’d have been served quicker?! 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is a great place to visit for a coffee and some history. Unfortunately their published open times on google don’t reflect reality. They are closed Tuesdays outside of peak summer times. Check before heading out there
