Food is always awesome service friendly there’s not many nice food spots in Carlisle but this is certainly one of them

Lovely visit for a quick lunch with the dog. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food is tasty. Highly recommend the soup - homemade and delicious! Will definitely visit again

Very average food, not worth the price we paid. Peri peri chicken skewers, extremely dry and no flavour, salt and pepper chicken starter, bog standard not worth £12. Chips were again dreadful very plain. £102 for 2 starters and 2 mains, toby carvery worthy food if not less. Won’t be coming back!

Been coming to the Blacksmiths for a while now and all was good but they have started using smaller plate and I can only describe the portion size now as child's size. I understand times are hard but £15 for child's portions is only going to lose customers as I'm afraid I won't be going back. Don't forget times are hard for the customer aswell.

Good atmosphere with great local band on, but £13 for 2 pints seemed expensive for a local pub and the Keralan chicken curry was watery & tasteless.

Sat in for a few hours doing some work. Had a coffee and veggie sausages sandwich. Later had the lentil and spinach lasagne which came with garlic bread and salad and was very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt throughout. Very reasonable prices which and good value. It was £13 for everything.

Our party booked ahead and preordered, the place had only a few other customers so it wasn’t busy. Meals only started being served after an hour and a half with no apology or explanation. When the food did come some orders were missing, some meals were inedible, some only arrived after other people had finished eating. The manager/supervisor did not come and apologise or offer explanation, he stayed away downstairs. When he was approached about taking a meal off the bill due to it being inedible, he said there was nothing he could do as a good will gesture apart from remove the item from the bill. Two of the meals were inedible and the quality of the others served was on the whole quite poor. I am so surprised as this place used to be so good.

Didnt have any food but the drinks were excellent as always. I love the ergonomic glasses (bit geeky I know) but they just feel so cool. Also theres a QR code to scan and join up where you get a free pint yay!!!

The food was delicious, very well presented, and smelt amazing. The atmosphere was quiet for a Saturday night. Service was good except for forgetting an order that had been added on. However, they did give us it for free. The only thing I would say is the food is very expensive. Starters range from £8-£10, mains £14-£25 and desserts from £8 too. 3 courses, plus drinks, came to roughly £50 each. I would expect this for inner city Birmingham or London, not Carlisle. It seems very overpriced for where it is and for what you get.
