The food was ok but not very big portions, and a bit expensive

Had classic curry, tasteless and full of liquid. King prawn Korma, tasted like it should but the prawns tasted like they had been microwaved and were rubbery and tasted of nothing. Chicken Chaat was just about ok but again lacked flavour. Over all very poor quality food. Won’t be going again.

Went by myself; really good friendly service; food was great, loads of veggie options and the food was so tasty! Highly recommend.

First time since the refurb and not disappointed. The place is stylish, modern and a fantastic atmosphere. The staff were all brilliant with excellent customer service. The food was better than amazing, loved every mouthful and are already planning our next visit. Definitely the best in town

Great food , very tasty , the only issue I found was the seating,, no room to move and the sitting position wasn't nice .

The Seekh kebab was awesome and I love Their coconut rice. The Chicken Pakora was So good it tasted fresh. The chutneys were Good. Everything here was the best around. I would want gordon ramsay and guy fieri to come one say. Even the Gajar ka Halfwa is golden to.

This restaurant is fantastic, with an interesting decor and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, aromatic, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend it.

We tried various Indian dishes, but unfortunately, the flavor and quality were disappointing. The paneer tikka had a sour taste and was oddly colored. Additionally, the virgin mojito was less enjoyable than simple nimbu pani. Each additional item, such as a pickle tray, came with a charge, in this case £2.50. It's worth noting that many of these extras are typically offered for free at restaurants in India.

The food was nice. I appreciate it was busy but the waiter threw the dinner plates onto the table so much so they rattled as they landed. He also threw the food dishes down onto the table. No care was taken when serving the food and he gave the impression he had no interest in his job whatsoever.

A great restaurant. The quality of food and service is second to none. I had a vindaloo as a challenge. Boy! It was hot, but tasty. The owner saw my red face and sweat beads and produced a yogurt for cooling purposes. Great evening.

Partner and I visited this place about 5years ago when we were on holiday and the food was amazing but afraid this visit was not amazing very disappointing food. partner had tandoori mix grill which was tasteless and dry myself I had fried lamb also bland and tasteless staff were pleasant the look of the place is beautiful

How have I not been here before? My only criticism would be that the naan bread was cut up, prefer it when its whole but the best Indian I have had in Carlisle, food was really good, fresh, tasty and well presented. Staff were professional and attentive. Would definitely recommend, will have to see how the take away service is.

Brilliant, great food, large portions and great service

Went Monday 23 Oct @ 5.30. No booking. They squeezed us in (5 on 4 seat table). Place was packed before we left around 7.15. Food good quality. Onion bhajis and naan breads excellent. Service quick. Reasonably priced. Friendly. Would recommend. Parked in small car park opposite.

We visited here on a Monday evening. Excellent bajhis to start and then a mix of 5 different dishes, all were excellent, perfect portion sizes, with plenty of meat and vegetables. Excellent friendly service, and fantastic value. Highly recommended.

Went here for dinner last night with 4 friends, all of us had excellent meals. Everyone agreed that the Lamb Karahi was the favourite. We tried to book online and couldn’t get a table but rang when they’d opened and got in OK

One of the best curry houses I’ve been to. Iv been up and down the country working on site and this place has topped them all. The venue is amazing, staff so friendly and the food was faultless

Much improved since its renovation and serves some of the best curry in the city. Would love to see it open for Dishoom etc. style breakfast\brunch on a weekend and bring in a few more authentic indian street food dishes. Overall though consistent and tasty!

Extensive menu so everyone will find something they like. Very attentive staff but allowed us time to chat, browse the menu. Nothing was rushed so you can enjoy the whole experience and atmosphere. The food was excellent and the prices are fair for a restaurant of this quality. I would recommend everyone to go here if they want an exceptional meal in a very relaxed and pleasant environment.

Lovely deco really nice atmosphere, it was my grandsons birthday and the staff and other guests in restaurant sang happy birthday thank you lovley meal also.

Organised a surprise 70th and they were very helpful and accommodating. Food was excellent and service excellent too. Will see you again soon!

as a vegan i’m often limited for options when eating out, however this was totally not the case at stanwix tandoori! there was so much to choose from and all of our food was absolutely delicious! will definitely be returning and would highly recommend!

Very good dining experience, the staff were also very attentive. Special mention to the 2 young lads, although the least experienced in years, they were just as efficient as the rest!

Rang for a takeaway told to come for 6pm arrived on time they asked me to pay soon as I arrived. waited till 6.30 then just walked out in the end with no food . Would never go back.

Booked this restaurant for valentines meal. We were welcomed with a warm, friendly smile and a good evening. We were shown to our table and given menus. Drinks were ordered quickly. The food service was fantastic, and the meal itself was out of this world very tasty. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere and very relaxing. Great little touch at the end. When we paid the bill, we were given little chocolates and a bag of sweets. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Thank you for a great evening.

We managed to get a table on a very busy Wednesday evening, the service was excellent, very attentive. The food was lovely, we had the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and the tandoori cocktail which was quite a substantial dish. My only small niggle was the naan breads which were more like round flat breads than the traditional teardrop shaped blistered breads, they were also a little on the chewy side unlike traditional naans.

Couldn't tell you what the food was like and I don't care, the staff are rude and turned us away because we were in our work clothes. We are only stopping in Carlisle for dinner then carrying on work, well I have news for you Stanwix Tandoori. You're building is dated and you can't afford to be do stuck up !

Friendly place and the food is exceptional

Haven't been in while took my family all got starters and a main meal, all were beautiful the chicken tikka was so juicy and the king prawns were amazing 👏 will definitely return soon .

Went here last night, very nice food and very quick service. It was knocking on a bit towards closing time. Would certainly go back. Its a bit dated in the decor department but clean and covid compliant.

India is a country of beautiful colour and vibrancy, it's such a shame that this eatery was so drab and in much need of updating. The food was pretty awful with both starter and mains just warm and unappetising. It's a few years since l was last there but it will be a long time before l come back.

Friendly professional service in a popular restaurant. The meal was enjoyable and good value. Downside in portion size being too large for me, but that is an individual opinion.

Visited on a Saturday evening while staying for the weekend. The food was excellent and with lots of choice. Service was amazing, staff very friendly and polite and the atmosphere was lovely, perfect for social distancing with individual booths.

Was lucky enough to book a last minute table despite the night been extremely busy. Upon arrival we were instantly greeted with a smile by Muhib who showed us to our table. Drinks order was taken and ample time was given to us to look at the food menu. All staff maintained social distancing when taking orders and serving food and we're respectful of all customers. All food arrived in good time and of the highest quality as usual. Staff maintained COVID procedures and ensured all staff and customers were safe. Will definitely be back again.

Very unassuming from outside but very tasty food. Good service

One thing Carlisle is not short of is good Indian restaurants. But the best is undoubtedly the Stanwix. I had Onion Bhaji followed by a Balti, my partner had Chicken Pakora and Lamb Shashlick, all absolutely delicious, and accompanied by a perfectly cooked (and huge!) Naan Bread. Our food and drinks arrived very promptly despite the restaurant being very busy. Be sure to be hungry when you arrive, because you won't be when you leave!

Food was absolutely amazing. Ordered chicken chat and chicken pakora to start - some of the best we’ve ever had! Chicken house curry and chicken tikka masala for main with pilau rice which were incredible. Possibly the best Indian food we’ve had in the Carlisle area (and beyond!) Staff were super friendly and polite. Couldn’t fault it!

Ordered a takeaway slot for Saturday night 6pm and was ready when we picked up. The chicken Sri Lanka is best I’ve ever had. This is best curry house in this area by far

Got our first takeaway in months this evening. Anyone worried about safety precautions being taken re: coronavirus, don't be. I was extremely impressed with the social distancing measures taken. I liked being shown to my own table while I waited ( the table was cleaned prior to me being seated). Payment taken and given my order very quickly (as usual), order placed on a separate table so no touching. Then a member of staff ensured the stairwell was clear by walking down first and ensuring nobody else came up. I Got home and my husband and I had the most delicious food we've eaten in ages. Always love your food and service, I am seriously impressed by your safety precautions also. 10/10 we will be back!
