Lovely visit for a quick lunch with the dog. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food is tasty. Highly recommend the soup - homemade and delicious! Will definitely visit again

Popped in yesterday for a light lunch, which was very nice and excellent value. I'd recommend getting there just before 12 for the best choice of seats, though they do also have seating upstairs. Parking is disc on the main street and market place, and for two hours. The cakes and tray bake are also excellent and I believe the owners do all the baking/cooking of themselves and you can tell. Delicious! Payment is cash only.

Visited for a late lunch with our sleeping granddaughter (15 months) and were made most welcome. Not much room for the pushchair but room was made. Service was very quick and the soup was delicious. When the sleeper awoke she was equally delighted with her cheese on toast. So all very good - but the best thing was the friendly reception.

Love the selection of home cooked food especially the cakes and tray bakes, my all time favourite from the cafe is the caramel short bread. A must visit when in Brampton

I've been visiting the Capon Tree for 14 years, stopping off there on my travels between Newcastle and Dalbeattie. It's a small friendly family run place. I am always amazed at the variety of home cooked food, scones and cakes available. The coffee is always good. The only place I go to in which i can order coffee with confidence. The prices are very reasonable. The food is good. The owners always friendly and attentive. It's clearly very popular with locals. We like to go there to get a slice of Brampron life as well as good food and beverages.

We’d been travelling and needed a late lunch. Most other places were closing at about 3pm but this stayed open until 4:30pm. Enjoyed lovely food and polite and friendly service in clean surroundings. Highly recommended. Honest home made food tasted delicious.

Recently visited Brampton whilst away for the weekend. The service was exceptional, Nicola was so friendly and attentive and nothing was too much. The food was amazing and very good value. I had the hummingbird cake which was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had, would 100% recommend. Definitely will visit again when in the area.

Nothing good about this place. £1.75 for cup of coffee £2.50 for a mug( basically more hot water) beef stew and soggy herb dumpling simply heated up in a microwave god knows how long it has been standing cold. Cumberland sausage roll and beens £3.50 tiny little sausage roll about 10cm long which again was pinged in a microwave and a half cup of beans. Sausage pastry was as dry as they come and tasteless. Amidst this COVID pandemic you don’t expect salt and pepper as a free for all on the table along with a variety of sauces God knows who had touched them prior to us arriving. Cutlery delivered to table in an old used treacle tin filthy around the rim. Only allowing cash payments strangely when everywhere else prefers contactless and to top everything off the toilet lights didn’t work in the gents and the seat was coming off in the ladies. Not a pleasant experience won’t be going back and would advice others against visiting

We went here after walking out of the Howard Arms where the service was terrible. In this cafe the service was friendly and efficient. We had a huge all day full breakfast with toast and tea for £4 each. The atmosphere was relaxed and chatty and we will definitely go there again and recommend it to our friends.

The owners of Capon Tree cafe are incredibly lovely. They are cheerful, professional, helpful and keen for you to enjoy your visit. The food is homemade and very delicious but all at very good prices. We enjoyed their amazing Afternoon Tea - everything was fabulous. A very special place run be very special people.

The Capon Tree is a nice, simple, traditional cafe with half a dozen tables on the ground floor and a few more upstairs. The menu is typical of the genre with prices that are refreshingly realistic, i.e. they are very reasonable indeed. And how nice to be able to have your chosen sandwich toasted at no extra cost. We just came in for hot drinks, but couldn’t resist the temptation of a cherry and coconut scone - and that really was a fine decision as it was superb. Run by Very nice people, this is a very decent cafe.

We were wandering around the town wondering where to eat, there is a lot of choice, but we plumped for Capon Tree Cage as we spotted what looks like locals in, they know the good places usually. Anyway we were very glad we did. The food was fantastic and fresh; we had cream teas... home made scones were delicious!

We almost didn’t go in this cafe as it appeared to be empty. However, we are so glad we did. The cheese scone and the plain scone were the best we have eaten - really light and delicious. The cafe wasn’t empty it was just that the other customers were sitting upstairs. Whilst we were enjoying our scones a number of locals came in to get takeaway cakes and quiche - a sure sign of good local food. Not to be missed.

Happened to be in Brampton looking for a light lunch and found the capon tree cafe. Had a lovely chat with the owners about its name referring to a tree where Jacobites were hung after the uprising. There was a lovely choice of teas and the home made scones were delicious.

My wife and I popped in having at first not fancied it after looking through the window - but the Price list convinced we good Yorkshire folk to give it a try. Don't be snobbish about the appearance of the place. It is clean and well equipped - the gents loo is a masterpiece - never seen one like it . Not a large café but there are more tables upstairs. As a small café, family run it does not have a large menu but what there is is good to eat and good value.Friendly staff, Mr and his Missus I think. He kindly assured us that all food served before 1pm was low calorie - hence us sharing a very nice Pudding.Pretentious posers please stay away - this is a good old fashioned little café that offers value for money and a friendly welcome - worth the less than normal pennies you might expect to pay - Oh! an excellent pot of tea too!

We stopped off in Brampton for a quick bite. We initially walked into Mrs Browns up the road but found the place very stuff and poorly ventilated.. the whole place stank of chips.. they had also run out of scones. So we left and wandered down the street a little further and happened on this little gem. We had the best cream team - all home made and delicious tea. Service was very smiley and friendly and lovely chat amongst customers. Cafes like these are hard to find.. especially where everything is home baked. Keep doing what you are doing - this is a real find.

One thing you're not short of in Brampton is a cafe. Mr. Browns is a personal favourite, as the menu can have some interesting items on that you wouldn't see in a normal cafe of this type. That said, Capon Tree would be my 2nd choice, as service is very friendly, prices are good, and they do a very decent bowl of soup (good all year round here in Cumbria). The one downside here is it can get a bit crowded, but for decent food at a decent price, with some decent service, this place ticks the box

Went here for a bite to eat when travelling. Big mistake. Staff watched us walk upstairs and sit down before telling us upstairs was closed, hovering while we looked at the menu's, staff seemed abrupt and unhelpful, food was not good value for money and they locked the door and turned the sign to closed whist we were eating making us feel rushed to finish our meals at just 4pm. There are pleanty of good cafes close. Do not waste your money here.

Centrally located in Brampton but there are steps up to the front door. No good for wheelchair users.Cafe provides a decent range of traditional British light lunches and snacks e.g. all day breakfasts, jacket potatoes, omelettes, sandwiches, traybakes as well as several different hot and cold desserts. Clean and with quick service. Toilets up an internal flight of stairs. Cheap and cheerful. Recommended.

I popped in while travelling through, I thought it would be a nice treat and a change from home made picnic. Yes the menu was simple but I didn't see that as a problem. What shocked me was the dried out egg and cress sandwich on supermarket basic bread which appeared to be served on a saucer! Plate was way too small. No offer of salad no attempt to make it look attractive, my son had the same pitiful bread and 1 slice of ham in a sandwich that cost almost £3! The soap in toilet was crusty and black the towel grey and dirty it looked like a health risk, luckily I carry hand gel so used this ! The only shining light were the 2 staff polite and friendly, but please improve quality and improve hand washing facilities if you want to continue in business!

The capon tree is a lovely little cafe in the heart of brampton. Not the biggest cafe but serves delicious food. Nice little menu serving sandwiches, Rolls, jacket potatoes soup etc. Perfect for a spot of lunch. The jacket potatoes are a good size and delicious. Great value too the menu is very cheap considering the qaulity. The staff are very polite and freindly and the service is immensely quick. No waiting around here for food which is another bonus. Plus even tho the cafe is small you never feel rushed which we thought was nice. Nice cafe definitely worth a visit if you're looking for lunch in brampton. Tasty, freindly and cheap..

This cafe is a typical small market town establishment, there were tables that would accommodate about 16 customers, but I think there was further seating upstairs. We stopped here for a light snack and enjoyed a well filled hot Tuna toastie and a fresh onion omelette, all for under £5.The cafe is quaint and the staff were very pleasant, polite and attentive, the menu card and special's board has enough choice to satisfy most needs, well worth visiting if you are in or around Brampton.

Attended a reunion with friends here, private dining on the terrace, the service was appalling, they had 3 large parties and obviously insufficient staff. The starter arrived some 25 minutes late, tepid soup, not very appetising, then a 55 minute wait for the mains, overcooked beef and lukewarm veg, no gravy, the a wait for sweet, sticky toffee pudding, can't go wrong with that, oh yes they could, pudding had sort of crust on it and was served with a miniscule portion of ice cream. All in all a huge disappointment and not what we expected, they really need to up their game.

The best coffee in Brampton! We love coming here for coffee and breakfast. Very friendly owner, Emma and her lovely baristas work hard to get your order just right. There are a great range of coffee, tea and home made cakes as well as savoury hot food. The place is often bustling with cosy chat, interesting art work on the walls (Emma has artist’s displays each month) and it’s also dog friendly too. Just a great place.
