I'm surprised the place is still open. The food is below par. The pizza was rubbish. The young waitress is very rude. Wouldn't go back. And the owner does not like criticism at all and fires back. Constructive criticism goes a long way. Your food is rubbish. And so is your attitude.

Recently been back to Alexs pasta bar after he’s moved to the new location on London road food is just as good still good as it has always been service was nice and fast still a good price and friendly staff.

Ok I’m going all out here and I need too apologise too pizza Italia so much we fell out over a order a couple of times but I am trying too apologise your service is incredible I miss ordering from you you do offer stuff that other takeaways in Carlisle don’t offer and as reviewing your reviews your always one of the best in Carlisle I’ve even voted you best takeaway even though I left a bad review I was band from ordering after that bad review I miss your service as too best selection of food available I hope if I order you will deliver but can I just say it was just a review at that time as too let downs but yes apologies pizza italia your menu is far better than most apologies on my behalf I hope I can now order again ….

I’m not one to usually leave bad reviews but this was is a must! Got recommended this place by a friend while Visiting Carlisle as I’m not local to the area but the food and staff was horrendous!! And hygiene is a big issue there As there were cat roaming around the kitchen as food was being prepared i ask if I could cancel my order but staff were rude and intimidating! As they told me I could not cancel as the food was already prepared and cooked. Won’t be Visiting again avoid at all costs!

Unfortunately not a good experience and my partner and I were looking forward to eating here. The waitress seemed rushed off her feet, the food was bland, minimal and expensive for what was received. The overall hygiene of the dining plates, glasses, fixtures and tables wasn't up to standard. Disappointing and hoped for better.

Absolutely amazing went there for a friends birthday. Great atmosphere and the waitress Helena was so welcoming. Even gave us free shots afterward. Food was amazing will definitely be back again soon.

This is one of the top restaurants in Carlisle. Fantastic selection of pastas and pizzas at a reasonable price. Staff are always very attentive and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

I don’t know if I just came in on a bad day. There was only one waiter handling the whole service. It was clear that they were understaffed today, however, there was only a couple of tables other than myself and he was slow even by that standard. After about 10 minutes of being seated we waited to be served. He came back asking what we wanted but he hadn’t even present us with a menu. Our table was still dirty from the previous customers who dined so it needed a clean. The waiter came back with a spray and cloth and without warning, sprayed the table while mine and my family’s hands and arms were on the table with our phones. He managed to spray each and every one of us and our phones and other belongings we had on the table. Throughout this he didn’t say a word to us or give an apology. It was another 10 minutes waiting for our drinks and when we got them the coke that I received wasn’t cold so the ice melted within 5 minutes and diluted it. It wasn’t fizzy either. It took another 20 minutes before our food arrived and by now it’s been 40 minutes in a quiet restaurant, with us having only been served drinks. When served we found that they got one of the meals wrong but we didn’t want to wait any longer so we just ate what we had in front of us. The food was actually quite nice, which is the first positive thing I can say about this restaurant and the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. I wouldn’t say it was good enough for me to want to go back again if it included the whole experience I had with it, it’s not worth it. If we’re taking about the food alone, it’s not bad. I’d have it again. To anyone who wants to try the food, I’d definitely recommend either takeout or delivery.

Popped in for lunch. Was not disappointed. Many traditional Italian dishes on offer. All freshly made. I have Chicken Picante, marinade chicken in a rich, spicy tomato sauce served with freshly made garlic bread. Absolutely delicious. I then had Norcina pasta, sausage, mushrooms, goats cheese in a creamy sauce. Superb. I'll definitely be back and I highly recommend it. There is another Italian next door, Franco's. It was closed. It makes look the more authentic of the two but trust me, Alex's Pasta is the real deal. Waiter/owner very nice. Polite, quick and friendly. Top marks!!

Got a delivery from Alex's pasta bar tonight, ordered a lasagne, garlic bread with cheese & a meat feast pizza, pizza & garlic bread very nice, soft dough on both enjoyed it much. My wife said the lasagne was very nice also, definitely recomend.

The food was OK. The coffee so so, but feel some training would help staff distinguish between different types of coffee. I asked for a flat white and got a very large strong coffee with minimal milk. There was also a large group of young men talking loudly about who they'd slept with. It would help if the young waitresses were assertive enough to know this was offensive to other customers. All of this considered, I wouldn't go back.

Not a good experience for everyone in on the 27th December. Although the food was good when it did finally arrive, it was ruined by the bad service. We didn't get seated when arriving, waited 15 mins for menus, 45 mins for starters . I asked 3 times for a glass of water before going downstairs and getting it myself. My daughter's main was wrong. People were getting up to leave upstairs with similar issues.

One of the hidden secrets of Carlisle. I have been visiting this restaurant and never been disappointed with the food quality, the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staffs, and the cleanness of the place. We definitely needed places like this in Cumbria. Highly recommended.

We came in tonight for a after work meal and honestly all I can say is WOW what beautiful food they have here. From start to finish the staff experience was unbeatable made you feel so very welcome and explained the specials to us. The food was out of this world myself had a chorizo pizza stunning and my boss had chicken pasta carbonara and it was beautiful in her own words. We will definitely be back and most certainly recommended.

Just had a chicken and prawn mac'n'cheese and it was delicious and very filling, rest of order was delicious and filling for the others. Defo be back. Lovely staff as well.

The pizza I ordered was chicken,goats cheese and mushrooms was delicious. I would go back for the pizzas. My only issue was when we went to pay. If you go in a large group I recommend you all take cash and have it all ready in one amount to hand over. As paying separately totally confused and stressed out the woman dealing with it. Having said that I would recommend it for small groups as the food was good.

Hugely disappointing. Zero atmosphere. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The food was basic and too highly priced for the low quality. The drinks were so expensive I feel I've been robbed. Absolutely do not recommend

Item was missing from our order, called the restaurant and the rude man who answered the phone said we had to ring the delivery driver back, so we did. However, the number didn’t work. We then called the restaurant back and the same rude man answered again and informed us that it wasn’t his problem because we’d ordered through Uber (despite ordering through Just Eat). I proceeded to try and explain to him that I had paid for a service and the restaurant had not provided it, after him interrupting me and talking over me on numerous occasions he then hung up on me. Absolutely appalling service and would not recommend, I will not be ordering from here again.

We had lunch here today and it was superb! Mac n cheese with salad and garlic bread was fresh and delicious. Risotto with sautéed veg was beautifully cooked and tasty. It's so lovely to see such and amazing menu with so.much variety. We will be back very soon! Thanks for a wonderful lunch😊

Lunch today for two. Excellent Pasta dshes, with friendly service. Background music too loud, would have been good to hear some good Italian opera tunes to accompany the good pasta and good coffee. Would go there again.

Very tasty food! The lasagna was delicious. The minestrone was very flavorful. The courgette, safron and lemon risotto was perfectly prepared. What more is there to say? I recommend! Great area and great service too!

Not happy! Every other time ordered our food has been great. But ordered around this afternoon and due to issues with delivery our food arrived spilt and we did not receive. Rang the shop to tell them about this issue to be greeted by a very rude response! Understand it’s not the shops fault but the lids had quite clearly not been put on correctly. Due to late response from Uber eats, we are still no further with this

A complete delight! All dishes very fresh and obviously made to order with high quality ingredients. You choose your flavourings and then whichever pasta you'd like which is excellent. Also serve pizza and other Italian dishes. Priced very well. Very impressed can't wait to go back!

Flavours were really good, but we were still hungry when we left, I had to ask the waitress to make my cordial and Water stronger twice and it was still just coloured water after that. Food Tasted good though 😋

The food from here is ually amazing.. but today I was disappointed. The Amatriciana pasta was greasy and peppery rather than suacey with chilli. The Garlic bread that accompanied it was stale too.

Really great pasta bar superb food and really good and friendly service

My first visit was between Christmas and New Year. Booking a table was straightforward, staff were helpful especially Phil. The food was superb and a real treat. The menu is superb and available as takeaway. For 3 courses and drinks we averaged £30 per head. There was no rush to eat and leave, and we were able to have good time between ordering courses. Facilities were available on site with an accessible washroom, which was well decorated and clean. It's a two storey restaurant, we were down stairs which was perfect for me. I would absolutely book again for the chicken macaroni cheese, or as a takeaway treat. The calamari was superb and cooked to perfection.

Definitely one of the nicest pasta dishes I've had in carlisle. Well worth a visit.

Great food and excellent customer service . Went here with the kids . We went to Alex's years ago ,when he was in the market . We always enjoyed the food and always thought he should open a restaurant. So pleased his business is building and wish him success for the future. Recommend the lasagne .

Amazing from start to finish, service and food

The food is delicious and was served fresh and hot. The staff are lovely and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. We were both vegetarian and found there were plenty of options. Will definitely be returning thank you.

I love a carbonara, I eat it whenever I go out. Have to say this is one of the best I ever had, and great to choose my own pasta. We both enjoyed our meal, great service even though it was busy (great to see). Would highly recommend and will be back soon! Thank you!

Husband & I visited the restaurant for the first time last week (but have been to the original pasta bar a few times before). We both had lasagne, we liked that you got a choice of side dishes included. Food was (as always) absolutely delicious & plentiful we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Restaurant decor is nice & welcoming- love the chairs! Great to see it so busy. Lovely to see Alex again & wish you all the best in your new venture. We will be back😊

The Hygiene was terrible found hairs in my food I asked for a refund from them he demanded that I paid for the food when I already found a hair in very bad customer service waiter was very cheeky

I can only say great things about this place. The food is amazing, prices are great, great conversation with Alex about calcio, brilliant atmosphere, the list goes on. The sauage pasta is the best meal I've had in a long time. Highly recommend to everyone.
