Lucky Chop Suey House in Carlisle

I work all over the country and very rarely find take-away Chinese food this good. Had Yung chow fried rice with curry one night and Shrimp Foo Yung with chips another. Both perfect Highly recommend this place.

Not tried this place for years to be honest won't be back sweet sour Cantonese is not normally shredded Rubbery chicken no taste to sauce dried out over fried chips long wait not cheap.

First visit after many years. It gone from what was a great chinese to bland.fried rice like sawdust, beef curry is chewy, watery curry and the chips, well below par. The green decor is sickly and the plastic over the counter not needed unless ya think your getting robbed . Wont be back. Sticking to Sunnys in currock.

We both really enjoyed it the first time but the second time I tried something different (chilli honey chicken) and it was rubbery, tasted horrible and I couldn't eat it and neither could my partner. But the salt & pepper chips are beautiful and we like the sweet and sour chicken balls. The owners are nice and friendly too 😊

The worst chinese food I've ever eaten! The food was very bland...hardly any flavour...and even looked disgusting! When I phoned to complain I was offered no apology or even to offer a refund. I would recommend never to visit this Chinese!

Service was good and fast. Chicken in the black bean sauce wasn't great, its like its processed. Chicken fried rice was good and the curry sauce was really tasty, chips were good too.

Best Chinese in Carlisle! Never a thing wrong with it. Why they don’t deliver I don’t know, they’d make a fortune! Only issue I have is that they stopped doing pineapple fritters so now I have to go elsewhere for that which is a nuisance cos all other Chinese I’ve tried do not compare to lucky and I don’t enjoy it as much. I’ve thrown more out than I’ve eaten. You really can’t go far wrong with lucky, nice food!! Love their chow mein and chicken curry!

What a joke this place is, mixed my order up twice . If they say its ready at 7.00pm go at 7.15 as its never ready on time. Always late. Shame as the foods not bad. They cannot cope when it's busy.

This was a great Chinese when Henry had it but it's gone right down drain my son went on his motorbike and asked for beef in garlic and chili with fried rice and a chicken in garlic and chilli with fried rice with 2 small fried rices and a portion of chips when he got back he was given shredded beef and shredded chicken it was disgusting no taste at all in either dish but because we live in stanwix I was not going to ask him to take it back it all went in the bin I will never use this Chinese again.

Excellent fried rice overall very good

Still consistently two stars, as per my last review two years ago. The food is edible, that's about it. So it'll do, on the nights when the other Chinese takeaways are closed! The chicken is always really rubbery, the portion sizes aren't that big and the sweet and sour dishes seem to lack ingredients. Added to which they want to charge for a bag to carry your food out in - none of the other takeaways do this. I'm not sure of the intricacies of the stupid plastic bag laws, however surely paper bags could be used and included within the cost? It's a struggle carrying out the food without a bag and a real kick in the balls to be charged punitive amounts on bags when buying a takeaway!

Driver didn't knock on door left food on doorstep we didn't see it until the next morning. When we rang up to complain all of the staff were extremely unhelpful and extremely argumentative and ignorant. They eventually decided to give us less food than we ordered after two days of dispute. The food was ok I suppose but I say that begrudgingly as I am still extremely unhappy with the customer service.

Wrong order for the second time. Asked the girl at the till if it was all correct before I left, got home and it was wrong again.

It’s a real shame they don’t do deliveries

Used to order from here quite a lot. So revisited. Extremely poor. Special fried rice was like boiled rice soggy and not much taste. The chicken in chilli and garlic like rubber really let down. Biggest waste of £20 ever. Shame.

Nice food , was to hungry to rember to take a photo 📸 lol. Charged 10p for a bag, which is a bit mean .. Cash only . You can see in the kitchen ,looked very clean and tidy. Nice food and decent proper chips 😋

Food is great and not pricey, a large serving too. You will always be greeted with a big smile upon entrance. The only downside is they only accept cash, there's an ATM nearby, so that's not really a big problem.

Disappointing - chewy chicken in the main dish, obviously cheap meat, and small portions - tray wasn't anywhere near full! Was like this the time before, so it's not as if I was there on an off-day.

Fantastic quality, prices and portion size. I live 12 miles away with other chineses closer but this is my regular.

Alright food decent staff fair prices compared to some other takeaways. Closed Mondays don't accept card payments.

I've been visiting this Chinese takeaway for decades and it's always top notch. Excellent food at great prices.

I was off duty Tuesday night and all Chinese restaurants were closed BUT you have to understand that is the prominent night off for Chinese people etc etc and I went to the premises beside the hospital (lucky chop house)and it's just amazing thanks very much for being open and the the takeaway I had tonight especially the Singapore chow mein was amazing defo gonna go back to THATtakeaway the food was lurrrrvely 👍

The special fried rice was too soggy for my liking. It didn't look appetising and the taste wasn't great either. They could do better on this one.
