Really nice place. Friendly people spacious layout clean bathroom. Estrella Gallicia on tap. Dog friendly. Haven't tried the food.

Great selection of central European lagers, a lovely staff. Highly recommended. The atmosphere is incredible, mainly over the weekends so don't forget to pop in and I bet you won't regret 😊.

Went here on the last Friday in September at, roughly, 1600. It was 90% full downstairs with a raft of friendly locals - many of whom were debating the felling of a tree. The beer was decent so I stayed for a few - would definitely be back.

A great independent bar that offers a wide variety of drinks.

From what I remember it was a good place me and my partner were here for a few hours. Apparently I got rescued from sleeping in the toilet which I'm never gonna live down 🤣

Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff you can have a chat with and great snack food to go with the drink. It quickly became my favourite place to drink.

Great ranges of Bevs alongside soft drinks, atmosphere is fabulous and the staff are chill as anything! If you’re looking for a chill time, this is the one!

There didn’t seem to be many options in town for a snack in the late afternoon or early evening, but we happened on this place about 4 pm. Lovely staff, pleasant fellow clients (including a very friendly dog) and some good drinks and food.

Very sadly this bar has changed from a vibrant, busy, happy, nightime venue to a laid back daytime cafe bar. Nothing wrong with that but when you remember how fantastic it was on a Friday and Saturday night, great tunes, great staff, great friendly atmosphere, great fun. Sadly not anymore. A real shame.

My first visit here. Helpful and friendly staff. A small, tidy bar with aircon for those who wanted to cool off. We chose a table outside to make the most of the evening sunshine and warmth. It's a great place to watch the world go by and the modified vehicles traverse the city. Located opposite the Citadel it's a great first stop off the bus or train. Has a good range of gins available and offers cocktails by the jug to share. Will definitely go again.

Popped in on a cold Sunday lunchtime as it looked welcoming and is dog friendly. Nice atmosphere, good service and I really like all the wood, the tables and decor. Mrs. R enjoyed her cheesy Nachos.

Daniel the waitor was very nice patient and informative. If visiting Carlisle we'll worth a visit just to find out where else you want to go.

Open Mind changed a lot over the past 18 months, trading the noisy DJ party atmosphere for a quieter more relaxed feel. Serves a limited menu of food (hot dogs, Nachos etc) and even has a few craft beer cans available as well as various cocktails, vast amount of spirits and a more continental selection of keg beers. Nice to visit after work on a Saturday night.

Sat upstairs as instructed by staff, then waited 15 minutes to be served. They had forgotten about us. Loaded nachos weren't very nice.

Lovely place, amazing hot dogs, wonderful service.

Stopped in fort lunch whilst shopping in the city. We didn't want anything too big / heavy so the menu suited just fine. The menu is quite limited but staff were accommodating and created a vegan platter for my wife.The pizza panini looked excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the polish sausage & Blue Moon (probably my favourite beer).Would we come back - yes.Would we recommend - yes.

Lovely place... Really pleasant and welcoming staff.... Food not to my taste, but that's a personal opinion. Definitely a place worth socialising with friends.

We visited "Open MInd" today with a relative and friend and were very pleased that it was open today with it being a Sunday. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The delicious apple and carrot curried soup went down a treat with it being nippy outside.There is a lovely rustic homely feel to the place and there was good background music playing.This place is definitely on our favourites list when we're visiting Carlisle.

Never been here before - never will go again! Cheaply decorated, disgusting staff, even worse service, the drinks are horrific and when you question the drink I was kindly told to f*** off. Will not be returning.

Local guy, ended up in here with friends a few times, reluctantly I would add, every time an epic fail- service abysmal, staff terrible, drinks atrocious, when you just have had enough that as a calm human being you question the staff over the validity and content of the drinks they tell you to f*^^ off and leave the premises or they threaten to call the police - time to move on and never (why would you) go back!! Nothing more to say!

If I could give this place a 0 I would have. Shocking service, not interested in you. I wanted to try a different gin so asked if I could look at the bottle for a read, the bartender insisted on holding the bottle!!!! What a farce, never go back in. Open minds!!! Most definitely not.....

Always friendly and good choice of drinks not generally available in Carlisle e.g. Kozel, Pilsner Urquell etc. Occasional real ale.

Popped in for lunch as we didn’t want the usual fried food offered everywhere else, glad we did! Staff are great, food was excellent and plenty of if ( we didn’t manage to eat all of it!), and it’s licensed so I had a lovely glass of wine too! Would certainly recommend it.

Unlike everything else, which looked distinctly shut on a Sunday.Lovely staff who were very attentive but not intrusive although we were thin on the ground for serving as only 8 customers at a time at seven in the evening.Polish food, with veggie perogi that were excellent. Polish sausage was very good also.Good craft beer.Very easy place to be.

We popped in for a couple of drinks and we were so pleased we did. The people who work behind the bar are lovely, the drinks were great and there's a lot of choice. Good music being played by a live DJ but you can still chat comfortably.

The jaffa cake cocktail and black forrest cocktail are the most delicious drinks I have ever treated myself to. This gaffe is dog friendly and serves delicious food. Would defiantly recommend the chipotle chicken burritos. Friend staff and quick service. This place is absolutely perfect for cheeky cocktails with a friendly safe atmosphere. I recommend the jaffa cake cocktail, it actually taste like a jaffa cake.

Guy behind the bar with the beard is horrible. Rude, aggressive service. Wine was vile tasting and warm. Won't be back

Service shocking. No engagement on asking about drinks. Just pointed to menu rather than explaining. Been before when a lovely young lady served us. Had cosmopolitan. Not done as should be with orange. Thin white does better. Easy to see why no one in. Won't be back

Called in for a pint of beer, really friendly knowledgeable bar staff. The decor is quirky and cosy and we had seat in the window. Great music too. Well worth a visit!

Nice hipster place to go, live music is good and feels cosy

It was the first time I had been in the cafe. Lovely atmosphere, with rustic decor, brickwork and wooden floors and bar, and staff were very friendly. Just had a latte and cookies but other customers were enjoying a light lunch and their meals looked very appetizing. Will definitely visit again next time I am in Carlisle.

like this place a lot. Popped in just for a drink middle of a weekday. Great music playing and the waffle with apple cinnamon was amazing. Couple of lovely dogs...beautiful greyhound called Archie...it's dog friendly so added bonus I would definately return when I'm next in Carlisle

Plenty of choices for drinks. Plenty staff to serve. I have also had lunch here and can recommend the food as well.

Dropped in early evening for a drink on the way home. Very quirky. All the furniture made from pallets in their raw form. Not sure if it would pass health and safety as there are a lot of exposed nails but it all works and it has a nice atmosphere.

Got a pint of cider ..flat as hell barmaid told me it wasnt ?? She reluctantly change it for a strawberry cider which i dont drink . It was a case of take it or leave it . Barmaid ( manager)need to change her attitude .what happened to the customers is always right . Will definitely not return.

Quirky bar, great for a few beers with mates

My wife and i came here for a drink after a meal. Really nice cosy place, good music and decor. Plenty of drinks to choose from. I had Long Island Iced Tea and my wife had Gin. Staff were friendly aswell. Definitely worth a visit

It's like Berlin but shinier. The best beats in Cumbria with a good sound system. Good vibes!

At long last, it seems that Carlisle is joining up some of the previously rather neglected areas of the town-making it an attractive place to pause, while awaiting trains from the nearby Station (itself undergoing major renovations)- and to enjoy a very pleasant atmosphere.There's a harmonium set against a wall, and (with nicely judged furnishings) is well worth a visit. The staff are very friendly (and personable) and the menu has enough to please any palate. I was in a bit of a rush, so just had a coffee and a piece of delicious fruit cake, served with cream. I shall return!For those seeking alcoholic beverages, and cocktails, there's a good range of Whisky, Gin, Vodkas and Rum.Maybe, next time?

Pre meal drinks! Good choice of cocktails, although hubby opted for beer. This time I opted for the raspberry cosmopolitan, which was lovely.

My friend just used a vape, no signs anywhere, just a mistake and could have been delt in a nice way, instead horrible nasty woman comes flying out swearing and shouting no need at all, offered apologies but just swore at at treated like naughty children, very horrible not felt welcome at all

Great atmosphere in this place. Two floors so if its busy down stairs or you want a place to chill thats out the way, then check upstairs as its much less formal and has a lounge vibe to it. A large selection of largers and theres enough ales to keep you entertained - usualy guest beers and ales are rotated regularly. Theres more than enough spirits in the place to make you regret ordering a top-shelf. Staff are friendly and will let you try samples of the beer. They're pretty enthusiastic, too. Sometimes theres music, sometimes theres not. Sometimes it can get busy, it depends whats on that night. It's safely out of the Botchergate danger zone but close enough for you to see the ambulances and police dragging the casualties out of there. All in all its canny mint, like.

I was in on Saturday for lunch with two friends. The hot sandwiches were good, but the cream of mushroom soup was not. Lumpy, odd taste, not enjoyable. My friend was just off the train, so didn't make a fuss but I doubt we'd be back of in Carlisle again.

Every single time I've been here, it's been friendly, welcoming and had a wonderful atmosphere. Downstairs they have a dj booth and area for a band and upstairs a room of armchairs and sofas full of nooks and crannies for chats and catch ups. Love it. Edit: we ate here and it's incredible. Really, really good food, homemade soup to die for.

Popped in for lunch, great food freshly cooked/prepared, great staff, a good selection of ales and good music. Excellent value for money :)
