The best restaurants in Morpeth North Northumberland North East

Went for breakfast and despite 3 members of staff and only the ground floor open did not get served or even acknowledged by the staff. One guy seemed to prefer to stir a hot chocolate for 5 minutes rather than make eye contact. Eventually gave up and left wit still no acknowledgement. Not the first time this has happened so will never go again

This is my second visit on day trips to Morpeth recently and both times I’ve had great food and excellent service. The menu has a wide choice of dishes and drinks (they serve decaffeinated tea which my friend was very happy about) there’s a water station on the bar where you can help yourself such an easy but great idea. You go to the bar to place your order and it’s served at your table like a lot of places now fuss free. The decor is lovely with nice lighting and a small play area for children also a book swop what’s not to like such a great atmosphere. It took a little while for us to get our food today but not too long and it was very busy (Mother’s Day) but not an issue my friend and I both ordered from the breakfast menu I had smashed avocado and she had a breakfast bun both were lovely and tasty. The service at every stage was very good and every member of staff so pleasant like they actually wanted to be there rare these days I’d definitely recommend and will be back next time we are in Morpeth.

I don’t live in the area and I come up 3-4 times a year to visit family. Used to come here all the time it was my favourite pizza around. A year ago I found out I was coeliac so I thought that was the end of boulevards for me, but yesterday my partner googled it when we were looking for some lunch and she said they do gluten free, so I had to drive over from Ashington to try it. I genuinely almost rang up to double check it was gluten free. It’s the best GF pizza I’ve ever had. I even stopped on the way home the following day to get another one!!

I queried a 50p charge on each of two filter coffees with the waitress who bought our order to the table who said they always charge for cream. As a person who only drinks coffee and have had coffee in many establishments, I said you are the only place to ever charge extra for cream to add to a £3.10 cup of coffee , I could have had skimmed milk for no extra charge! Then another girl intervened and began to add her bit. Saying she had been there 14 years and they have always charged extra for cream and then was very rude and said " I can see you are getting annoyed so I'll leave it" she then walked away leaving the other waitress. I then asked for the name of the one who was rude and was told she was the manager! I said really? My bill was £25.70 so not the cheapest place I've had coffee but the only place I've had to pay extra for cream. I will certainly not be going again and will be advising any friends of the charge and rude manager. Not a good advertisement for their business. Maybe Mr Robinson needs to consider his choice of manager and the charge for cream. The menu shows an extra charge for special milks like soya etc but no mention of the additional charge for cream. Had it been stated as was the speciality milks I would have known and then it would have been my choice to stay or go elsewhere.

5 stars for the name alone, I won’t be back by choice

A busy well set out brach of Costa in Morpeth High St with young friendly staff with plenty of space and wide window looking out at passers by Good level of service too

Nice rustic interior with lots of various seating options. Good choice of drinks and a reasonably priced food menu. They also have an adjoining cafe with a choice of cakes and pastries.

Very very poor with horrific customer service, delivery time of over 2 and a half hours, restaurant wont answer the phone after orders are placed. Ive received multiple wrong meals from here and they wont exchange or replace them. I received raw prawn batter balls, the batter was literally stone cold LIQUID BATTER inside not cooked at all, extremely dangerous!!!!! I have given them the benefit of the doubt to many times now, the wasted wrong, tasteless, late, cold ,raw meals are not worth the risk.

sadly no vegetarian breakfast options were available. i asked staff if they had any options for vegetarians and i was told they didnt, which is a shame in this day and age when 99% of places cater to vegetarians and vegans. ordered a small pizza for my 3 year old son and asked if i could have it in a take away bag to which the staff confirmed we could. received the pizza in a bag and upon leaving the cafe i opened the bag and the pizza was folded in half like a calzone. i went back and said that i didnt feel like i was getting good value paying £5.50 for a small bottle of juice for my son and a 3 inch kids mini pizza that had been folded in half and stuffed into a bag. one of the staff members nodded in agreement with me when i presented the smushed up pizza and i could tell by her face that she agreed. the other staff member however (the one who served me) got her back up and said “well we dont normally do take away pizzas”. I mean, thats fine but if thats the case then at least set the expectations of the customer by saying “sure we can do a take away bag for you but FYI were gonna shove the pizza into the bag and make it calzone instead, because we dont usually do take out, ok?” talk about bad service….. in the end we went over the road for a vegetarian breakfast elsewhere.

Me and my family went here for lunch and all 3 of our meals were horrendous, the fried bread was thick and way too full of oil, the beans were stone cold, sausages were slightly cold in the middle. Everything was way too oily and the mushy peas were pasty aswell as the fish being just vile in general, the omelette was cold and the chips were just store bought and barely heated up. The prices are disgustingly hight and I do not recommend to eat here.

Very seldom go to supermarket cafes. Was staying nearby and accommodation didn’t provide breakfast and as Morrisons was nearby, I thought I’d have a look. Great value ultimate breakfast. A good choice if only wanting a breakfast roll or just tea & coffee. Somewhere I’d look out for again if needing a cooked breakfast.
