Oh dear! Big mistake to call at this cafe for a cup of afternoon tea and a scone. Very quiet at 3.15pm as only one table occupied, no staff in sight but soon one of them turned round and seemed less than pleased to see a customer interrupting what she was doing. I had been looking forward to a scone and jam, but there were only 2 left and looked as though they had been twice-baked. I asked for tea with semi-skimmed milk, to be told we only have full fat milk. I determined to make the best of what was supposed to be a treat, and retreated to a table. The cup of tea tasted awful but I was thirsty, and the scone crumbled to bits when I tried to cut it and had obviously had the life cooked out of it. Does M&S actually read any of the feedback on here? Standards are clearly not being met and the shop manager clearly needs to be made aware.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.

Stood in queue for 20minutes to be served and it’s not the first time ms get you act together no wonder you are loosing money

Nice to take a break after busy shopping trip although you can struggle to find a table at busy times. The latte is excellent.

Pretty good coffee - not great, but served quickly by friendly staff. What was really nice is that most of the customers were rather elderly and many had poor mobility. Staff had excellent rapport with the regulars and took the time and trouble to go at their pace and help with carrying drinks and food to the tables for those who couldn't have done it themselves. Drinks selection was good. Limited gluten- and dairy-free food so I didn't have any but looked a nice selection.

My wife and I visited M&S Morpeth Northumberland on 31/12/18 around 12:45pm My wife bought some goods from the foodhall and we then took the lift upstairs to the cafe where we bought coffee & scones. I have mobility issues and need to use a scooter. Getting upstairs was not a problem as the lift was more than adequate. However the room between the "Isles" in the cafe was very tight but I managed to reach a table that was free. But...... getting back out again was a nightmare and I found it extremely difficult and it brought home to me how much my disability affects me - it was an upsetting experience for both my wife and myself. With hindsight perhaps I was too optimistic in believing that I could cope in that situation. I appreciate that Morpeth is one of the "smaller stores" that there are constraints with regard to how much space is available in.the cafe. Regrettably I didn't keep the receipt for this transaction as it was a cash one so I was unable to transmit my comments to "tellmands" However the coffee was very nice but as things stand I don't feel confident of returning again on another ocassion.

Busy when we arrived but managed to get a seat. Food very average for the price. Drinks very hit and miss. No consistency in quality of coffees and hot chocolate, depends on who serves you I guess. god forbid the staff actually crack a smile. There's much better cafes in Morpeth for quality and price.

If you want a great Flat White this place is very cool. If you want a smile and the staff to be remotely friendly or nice go elsewhere!! The cafe has the atmosphere of a dentist surgery. The staff are awful, nobody smiles, the job satisfaction here must be very low. The guy making the coffee was so miserable he couldn't even be polite. The person taking the money was just as miserable, no smile no please or thank you and I was told to stand by the till and wait for my order. Not sure why they can't bring the order to the table like a regular cafe. It's not exactly busy!!Great coffee. Awful service!!

The Marks and Spencers cafe is Morpeth's hidden gem. Discreetly inside the shop on the top floor, it is up to visitors to discover it themselves. the cafe is a good size with a lovely atmosphere overlooking the Sanderson Arcade. The staff are friendly and it is nice for a quiet cup of tea or hot chocolate with a small snack (cake never disappoints)! Would definitely go back.

The good thing about Marks and Spencers' cafes is the consistency of reasonable quality casual food and good service. This applies to the various ones I have visited and Morpeth is no exception. Staff are friendly and the place is clean and welcoming. Coffee is excellent and the usual range of scones, pastries, toasties etc is perfectly OK for a good quality snack lunch or tea. The cafe is ideally located for a break in a shopping trip or a location to meet friends for a chat.

The food here is of good quality and very tasty. The downside, because of this, is that it does get crowded and it's often difficult to find a table, especially at peak times. It is self service so that whilst you are waiting in the queue the table that you have earmarked often disappears. Having said that, staff are very pleasant and helpful and the food is worth waiting for.

We called in for coffee and a snack this week at this cafe as a result of being in M & S around lunchtime. It was busy, and found a table without a problem. We chose coffee and both chose the children's mini sandwiches, as they looked the most appetising. The coffee was OK, the sandwich was also just OK, and the bill was a trifle expensive considering the quality on offer. Theres much better places in Morpeth for coffee and snacks, and would only go back here if everywhere else was closed.

As you would expect from M&S the food is good and the coffee better. It is a small cafe and feels cramped when busy, which it is a lot of the time. It is very popular, even though Morpeth has more cafes than you can shake a carrot cake at. The staff are always polite to the customers - but here comes the but..the service is so slow and at peak times another assistant is really needed. I have queued for over 10 minutes on a few occasions and left on others, knowing that it would be a long wait.

The coffee here is usually very good and the food on offer is all available in M&S Food Hall downstairs, so the quality is good. This would be true of any M&S Café, but the staff at the Morpeth branch give the place an extra something with their friendly and helpful attitude to customers old and young, both regulars and strangers.

The cafe prices are ludicrous. £3.45 for a toasted tea cake with barely any fruit in it is ridiculous as is a fiver for two cups of tea and £9 for a cooked breakfast!! The staff are not the most pleasant either. Sadly the shop and garden centre prices are way off the scale too compared to most other garden centres. Definitely would not recommend or revisit.

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Popped in for lunch on a day over to Lindisfarne. Despite advertising that they cater for gluten free, a disappointing menu. When I asked at the bar if they do anything gluten free, the barman said that anything gluten free will have GF after it on menu, but they can do any sandwich with gluten free bread. There were no meals suitable on menu, so I went back to bar and asked if their spread was dairy free. Barmaid gives a big sigh and goes to check. Comes back to say yes it is, what do you want- like it was a big inconvenience for her. It’s not my husbands fault that he has allergies. Such attitude makes me wonder how anyone goes back here. Sarnie was ok but they didnt seem to do it separate to normal food as hubby found a bit of grated cheese attached to his bread. If he hadn’t spotted it, he would have been I’ll. overpriced too as the bread was just normal sliced bread. WONT BE GOING BACK!
