Visited here twice, as a family of 7 with a dog. The place is beautiful and service was excellent. 2 for 12 cocktails (mix and match) was a real bonus 5-9pm. We also attended for brunch, with an array of full English breakfasts and other dishes that were of great quality. We would recommend coming here for either casual drinks or a brunch meal!

I dont like putting out negative reviews but! This is a farce of a bar, if you like waiting for a long long time to be served a drink this is the place. Seriously disappointed this bar is not managed properly and hire people who are not suitable for bar work. A lots of red flags. Be warned ⚠️

With the current management this place will collapse. The name Pleased to Meet You is certainly not reflective of the management. I frequented (past tense) this bar/coffee shop regularly. It was 10:30 and whilst ordering coffee, I asked if the music could be turned down. I was told it was a bar and no. I asked for confirmation as I was taken back, so I asked are you saying no you won’t to which the reply was no. I discovered this was in fact the manager who in other words said that if you don’t like the loud music go somewhere else. I wonder if the owners know how their management team maintain good will. The pub trade is in a delicate state and attitudes like this will make people go elsewhere. Good luck with the future. You are going to need it.

Ordered a baked potato with tuna. Looked lovely when it came but unfortunately it was tuna & red onion (this had not been put on the menu), asked to change it for beans but they did not have any. Then asked for soup to be told they weren't serving soup today. Ended up with a scone! Also got some drinks (coke and a water) only to be told they did not have any glasses. This place it totally unorganised. People getting their food but no drinks or drinks and waiting forever for their food. Will certainly NOT be going again. Weatherspoons in this case is a far better option.

Bitterly, bitterly disappointed, booked a table 4 weeks ago for today (Sun 18th August) @1530pm because we had family coming up from Norwich, Norfolk and we suggested we go to PTMY for a Sunday roast.. Got there before hand, got a table, took a while to get the menus, finally had a look and went to order.. Time was 1545 when we went to the bar to order.. Only to be told there's no more roast dinners being done, not even the pie that was on the menu.. Only options where fish & chips, burger or anything from the Brunch menu, yep the BRUNCH menu on a Sunday afternoon. .. Seriously? So we went for the roast dinners but got offered a full English breakfast if we wanted that of the brunch menu!! Absolute joke.. The Sunday menu says between 12 noon & 4pm, so why wasn't there none available at 15.45?.. We all went for the burger.. When it arrived, we asked for some condiments, 5 minutes later nothing had still arrived, so my wife went and got some.. The service was fairly poor, even when we got coffees afterwards, no sugar or anything.. I've been in there a few times now for coffee or a drink, but never food.. And It'll be very unlikely I will again, for such a lovely place, decorated great, looks fantastic.. The service and lack of food was really, really poor.. Thing is, it makes me not want to go back now for anything..

Went for breakfast during the week on a work day. Wasn’t that busy, ordered and waited 45 minute for food. When it arrived it was cold. Not only that, but we had to wait a while for sauces and after the third time of asking we finally got cutlery. It’s not cheap, so the service needs to be better! When we got back home, we realised that when they said the payment hadn’t gone through , it had! We rang them several times, each time being promised a call back from a manager. Which never happened. Sent an email, 6 days later still no reply so we’re doing a chargeback for the duplicate payment, no doubt will be a long wait for that. Absolutely disgusting service from them!!

We booked in advance for afternoon tea on a Sunday and wouldn’t recommend it at all. We received our drinks very promptly but waited 1 hour 15 minutes for the afternoon tea to arrive. The service has been slow on previous visits to the restaurant but never this poor. The couple next to us also seemingly waited a long time for their afternoon tea. We were however offered a complimentary drink because of this. Some of the food was tasty, as are other meals I’ve had here, but it seems as though we were given left overs from what remained in the kitchen e.g., missing sandwiches, no butter for the cheese scone, majorly disproportionate sausage rolls, dry scones and bread. The whole thing was bizarre and difficult to share, especially with singular desserts. We later asked for the bill, multiple times, despite staff standing around at the bar. Upon receiving the bill, we were informed that the cost of the afternoon tea had risen by £20 since I bought the voucher in December, and therefore I was asked to pay the difference. This was resolved and honoured by a manager after a discussion, but I would’ve otherwise been expected to pay the difference due it “being updated on the website with the new price”, which I find appalling. I informed the server when we sat down that I had a gift voucher, but the price increase never came to light until the bill arrived. I am extremely disappointed in the whole experience given this was a gift for my grandma. It is certainly not worth £64, never mind the price I originally paid. This is even worse when accompanied by the poor service and food quality. There are much nicer afternoon teas out there for less.

Chain bar, slapped right in the centre of Morpeth in a building that was shut for years. Happy hour cocktails decent and reasonable. Seems to be trying to be some sort of late night bar, DJ on at weekends, but seems out of place these days in Morpeth. Having doormen on at 6 o'clock when the bar is empty is off putting also. Music generally poor, although I did once hear "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash in here. Probably an error on the part of the DJ.

Went today for lunch and we sat at the far table in the window, it was extremely drafty and very cold, the lunch was delicious that is why I gave the food a 5☆. Sadly the marble table was so cold the dinner went cold very quickly which was a shame, they need to put table mats down to help keep the dinner warmer, just a helpful suggestion, next time I go back I will take my own mat. The reason I gave 4☆ for service was I purchased a cream scone on leaving, only for the scone to be squashed in a thin box (which I'm sure I was charged for) and for the cream splurt out the scone, that was a shame as the staff seemed unconcerned, they only wanted to move onto the next customer. Sadly the only atmosphere was made by a family complaining to the manager about everything, there food was late there tea had gone cold, I'm vegetarian and there's ham in my quiche, I mean for goodness sake could anything else go wrong for them. Still we enjoyed our lunch.

What a shame that Pleased to Meet You have such poor service. The food when it eventually arrives is good, but the 45-minute wait for coffee and a scone is ridiculous. We called in on a Saturday afternoon having been tempted in by some of the food in the window. The seating area by Emily’s was completely full and, for some reason, boiling hot. My partner waited to order as I went further back down a few steps and into a larger area which had seats available. Almost immediately after I sat down, a member of staff came up to me and told me I was “not allowed to sit in the restaurant”, like I was some sort of criminal. I went back to the busy area and my partner was still being ignored at the counter despite there being no queue, so we promptly left. We instead went somewhere we were ‘allowed’ to sit in! I’ve no idea why places like this exist.

We had Sunday lunch today, it was great. We had a baby, a toddler and an 8 year old with us and nothing was too much trouble. The food was staggered enough so we could chat but not so far apart that the children became restless. One of the children had several allergies and she was catered for well, much better than anywhere else where they just take off all items containing dairy and soya leaving you with boiled veg and meat. They were happy to heat a home made allergen free Yorkshire pudding and served her separately to avoid cross contamination. The food itself was well cooked, veggies weren’t overcooked, gravy was delicious, Yorkshire pudding was big but still soft in the bottom. If I had any complaint the lamb was a little overdone. My husband said the beef was delicious and the pork my daughter had was also good. For pudding we had smashed brownie which my husband enjoyed and most of us chose sticky toffee. The sticky toffee was delicious, the portion was massive and there was plenty of sauce with it too… just how it used to be! We would probably share a pudding next time. Overall, a great ambiance and lovely food.

A man who came and stood next to me eventually complained & was met with obnoxious answer from the barman, full of excuses. There was no excuse, just ignorance. Have to agree with the previous review regarding the Christmas lunch at Pleased to Meet You. It was a total farce. We had the table booked for 1545hrs we did not get one starter until 1620 (table of 6) . No complimentary drink as promoted on the menu. There was no designated member of staff overseeing a few tables each, it was utter confusion for the staff and looked like rabbits in a headlight. We were beginning to wonder whether to stay as the meals took so long to come, I wanted to leave and go home, if they had organised and allocated their staff and time effectively the meals should of been served within 20 mins of arrival. The mains were nothing special. The side dishes originally advertised pigs in blankets etc did not materialise, but received small bowls with carrots and potatoes. The dessert/puddings were tasteless, the Christmas pudding was bland and awful, the brandy sauce was not as I expected, it was white but not sure it actually brandy sauce. My daughter paid the extra cost and choose the cheese board, the selection of cheese was so poor and she left it. My daughter works in Hotel & Hospitality and would never present the cheese board with a poor selection. Looking around, other customers also experiencing similar problems. In my opinion they went too big to get as many customers in as possible, but failed to deliver. I will be treating this a benchmark for future Christmas Lunches elsewhere, no one can be as bad as this experience. I certainly will not be back for any treats/special events at Pleased to Meet you. Would not recommend. Save your money and go elsewhere. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g504049-d23724643-r931042309-Pleased_To_Meet_You-Morpeth_Northumberland_England.html#

We ordered a hot chocolate, an americano with milk, a scone and a sausage roll. After waiting well over 15 mins, we asked when we could expect our order and were told 15-20 minutes. Eventually they arrived but with no milk for the coffee. Much of the coffee was spilt in the saucer so I asked if they would bring a clean saucer with the missing milk. In picking up the saucer of coffee, the waiter spilt it over the table, including on the sausage roll. A good 5 mins later, the saucer arrived but no milk. Also now no knife as this had been removed(along with the napkins) when the coffee was spilt over it. Another few minutes passed before we had both knife and milk. The coffee was by now barely lukewarm. The scone was very mediocre. The sausage roll was nice tho.

In my previous experiences here, I have had a lovely time. The food has been lovely and the service has been adequate. However, on my most recent visit here (only for tea and coffee. No food) I was left waiting for well over an hour for our drinks. The only reason our drinks ended up coming was due to us going up to the staff to address our unjustifiable wait on two occasions (to which we were met with overly defensive staff). The first time we spoke to the staff we were informed that our drinks would be out to our table imminently, after another 20 minutes and no drinks we decided to ask once more about where our drinks are to be told that they will make them right now and for the drinks to follow five minutes later. While the establishment was mildly busy, I don't find over an hour wait justifiable none the less. Thoroughly disappointed! On top of all of that we were provided with a paper number for the table (to which I don't seem much point in seeing as we had to inform the staff of our lack of drink and to where the drinks were meant to go) and while having ordered a cappuccino we were given a another tea, something that we didn't address as we no longer be bothered to.

I wish I could leave zero stars. We arrived at 11:30 to a very busy ptmy to be fair. We just ordered drinks. Two teas a large cappuccino and an orange flavoured hot chocolate. No table numbers were available so the assistant wrote number 2 on a scrap of paper for us to put on a clip at the table. We were told there would be a 15 ……yes 15 minute wait even for drinks. I replied that was fine I can see you’re busy! 60 ……yes 60 minutes later I went to the counter and asked where our drinks were. The staff “bickered” between themselves saying things like “that was the hot chocolate over there!” The girl apologised and said the drinks would be out directly. I replied “great make sure they’re hot please!” However a further 15/20 minutes my friend went again to the counter. The response was well we are busy. My friend replied we had been waiting well over an hour and my friend had already enquired where our drinks were 20 minutes ago. She was told we will make them now to which my friend said yes you had better. What came was incorrect drinks by which time we were beyond further complaints. In closing despite being busy a free round of coffees or teas would be appreciated if we are to return again. Otherwise I would not recommend ptmy to anyone visiting Morpeth!! A response would be appreciated please.

Stopped for Boxing Day drinks by the fire, the fire that, it turns out. wasn’t lit. Tables are always always filthy, you just have to take one look at the gormless staff to understand why. Last time we went for breakfast we asked 3 times before it was cleaned. This time we had the bonus of ours being very wobbly too. Overpriced food and drinks, very slow service. Had ran out of bar snacks, ordered a sausage roll from the cafe instead which took 15 minutes to arrive. I wondered how it was possible to take this long to remove a sausage roll from a glass case and place it on a plate so went to check, only to find staff too busy closing down to care for customers, which explains it I guess. When it eventually arrived, it was placed on our table without a word from the waiter. Really weird. Sausage roll was pretty good and if it wasn’t £5 it might have earned them another star, but we won’t be returning. There are far better, cheaper, more friendly places for a drink in Morpeth.

Well what a shambles Xmas Day became... we had a table booked for 4pm for Xmas Day (we were eventually seated about 4.20pm after waiting in a rather cold atrium after being taken upstairs while they "searched for our table". The drinks orders we placed were wrong when they arrived at our table, the next sign of what was to come... the "management" came to the table and asked to see our pre order as they had no idea what we had ordered!! When the starters arrived about 5.15pm they were nice but long over due bearing in mind the table was booked for 4pm!! After they were cleared away, we were asked a further 2 times buy 2 different members of staff what our mains were... how on earth this was the case after previously checking our pre order before our starters were served (surely they had a record somewhere of our name and booking from when we originally booked and paid) how on earth they still had no clue what to serve us I will never know! When the mains eventually arrived there was no salt/pepper on the table (a basic for any restaurant on a table) and not a single member of staff (even when trying to get their attention) came to the table to check we were OK or if we needed anything extra with our mains. The mains were OK, however the side dish of veg was extra roasties, creamed sprouts and red cabbage (not what the official advert says, where were the pigs in blankets and the parsnips that were promised in said advert?!!). The staff were wandering around clueless to what people had ordered and several times could be seen taking full dishes back into the kitchen. When the plates were cleared this was the 1st time a member of management asked if things were OK, when we advised of the issues we were told 'will see what we can do about the bill' and then walked off. The delay for the puddings was the next stage and yes you guessed it, we were asked again a min of 2 times for our orders!! The Xmas pudding arrived and I can only describe the "brandy sauce" as warmed very thin milk!! We left most of it. Looking around at other tables, the general feeling was that we weren't the only ones feeling like this! Bearing in mind this experience was £99 per person, there was no welcome drink and also tea/coffee and a mince pie was an additional £5 per person if you wanted it. I'd not be back and will cook at home next year, I could do a better job with my eyes closed! Avoid if you don't want to be ripped off Xmas 2024!! I won't be back that's for sure!!

Overall food is OK. We went for brunch and I asked for toast and butter for my young son. There was confusion among the staff because they "did it last time and got told off so not doing it again". The girl serving me went to ask the manager but they weren't in their office so I paid £7 for some plain pancakes (read plain as very dry). Note to the "manager", don't punish your staff for accommodating simple requests of paying customers, ease up on the dictatorship and more people will come back, but I won't. Also, the festive orange hot chocolate sounds lovely, it's not.

We were here for hubby's Christmas do 🍸🍾🎀. We had the festive party night menu at £40 pp (kindly paid for by employer) The food was hot, mostly well cooked (sprouts were almost raw) and served quickly. However, the menu choice was very poor. Choice of 2 starters, 2 mains (1 veggie and 1 meat choice for both courses) and no choice of dessert - Christmas pud, which A LOT of people left as 1, there was a 45 min delay in between mains and dessert and 2, lots of people simply don't like Christmas pud. The festive menu for the restaurant downstairs had a lot more choice. A nice night anyway

Popped in for cocktails on a whim. Beautiful Christmas tree and decorations, lovely fire that the staff kept going and proper cocktails (2 for £12). Excellent service too - they offered to bring our drinks to our table rather than us waiting at the bar.

Been meaning to g to try food here for ages as love the bar and coffee shop. The food was first class - I had the turkey festive dinner as I like to have at least one cooked for me at this time of year. I was the nicest meal I’ve had out in a long time - the Brussels in cream cheese sauce were delicious. My other half had the fish and chips which were excellent I’ll be having them next time - plus a very good pint of madri and a liquor coffee to finish off - will be back

Walked in, looked at the menu and decided we'd stay for lunch, but after being ignored by staff, we left. Entering, it's hard to tell if it's trying to be a café, a pub or a restaurant, but ignoring customers isn't a good start at being any of those.

Restaurant/bar with live music. Really enjoyed our time here. Toliets could do with some attention and cocktails was expensive for a small tiny glass. Definitely should have the offer on the cocktails on a Sunday.

A group of us met in the bull for a Saturday afternoon catch up, been in Morpeth many times but never been in & don’t know why, fab decor, great choice of draught beers & cider. We had a great afternoon & lost track of time catching up & never moved, says a lot, hope it’s not my last visit!

Apparently they don't accept Scottish Bank notes? Or Northern Ireland notes despite both being Sterling and legal tender. Costa head office say otherwise?

Took my 90 year old dad out for lunch today. It was great as carpark outside so he didn’t have to walk far. They make sure they take your car reg so you don’t get fined. The service was excellent, straight over with menus and took drink orders- staff were lovely. Food was amazing, dad had regular fish and chips which he loved, I had crispy beef salad- starter portion with chips- loved it. Price was reasonable- my only complaint would be that desserts were pricey- £10- so we didn’t bother but…. The meal was great and venue had atmosphere, I would def go back

Went for mid morning breakfast, not busy waited 50 minutes for half warm food. When I asked for staff, where is the food it came out immediately. It had obviously been standing for some considerable time. Due to pathetic service, I overrun my parking place by five minutes and received a £42 fine. I will not be visiting YOLO again on account of poor service and poor food.
