Took my children to the Bake as they had already visited and enjoyed the food. Food was excellent, however when the bill came I found it expensive for what we had ordered. On reading the receipt I noticed that I had been charged a 13% service charge, equating to almost £7. This I find shocking and to that end will not be using this restaurant again.
On reading a recent review a similar problem had occurred for another diner. Apparently you can ask this service charge to be removed, the only problem is you won't know you're paying one until the bill comes!
In response to the owner on 20 Oct 22: This is not protocol for 3 diners, it's an absolute cheek. Like I said in my review this shocking service charge is not stated when entering your restaurant, only when you receive the bill. As this is the case I will not use the bake ever again!
Delicious pad thai and the slow cooked pork shoulder melts in your mouth. Had a seafood curry as well and it tasted so fresh and refreshing, csnt wait to go back! The staff are super friendly and fast. I felt like I'd visited Thailand again. There were some aunties selling thai deserts and other meals for takeaways as well which I got as well and was amazing! Not sure if they are going to be there everytime but really hope they will be next time! The pandan and coconut milk steamed cake was incredible and really hope i can get more next time.
We arrived without a booking and took a chance that we would get a table. The lunch rush was just finishing and we were shown to a cosy table for two.
We had the 3 course set menu which was very reasonably priced.
Glass of champagne and gordal olives to begin with. (Not included in set menu) and so glad we did. Huge chunky olives in a very nice piquant brine.
What I noticed immediately was the interest shown by the staff, asking if we were celebrating anything and asked in a relaxed conversation, that wasn’t forced or felt like it was required. Just a nice genuine curiosity.
Starters were presented superbly and cooked to perfection, which runs throughout all of our (ended up 5) courses.
Rillette of salmon and wye valley asparagus. Both a delight to ingest.
The wine selection was very very good. We opted for the picpoul de pinet.
Pork tenderloin and halibut (supplement). Both agreed expertly cooked and finely presented.
Amalfi possett. A rich set custard with a great zing.
Desert wine. Coffee. And GnTs rounded off the afternoon.
Hugely enjoyable and the staff were expertly buzzing around and paying particular attention to refilling wine glasses. Standard tip and a bit more added for the pleasant afternoon we had celebrating an early 25th wedding anniversary.
Thank you so much. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
Absolutamente decepcionado.
I had an amazing time at Persian Delight! The food was outstanding—perfectly cooked lamb shank, juicy kebabs, and fragrant saffron rice. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. Plus, parking was hassle-free. We’ll definitely be back
Thank you for serving us even though you were closing. We obviously looked like we needed a rest and refreshments after our long walk.
Top marks for brilliant customer service.
