Nadon Thai - Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne

My recent visit to Nadon Thai left me with mixed feelings. While the food was enjoyable and the ambiance was pleasant, the service experience was marred by one particular waitress with red nail polish. Her unprofessional behavior, including eye-rolling and rude remarks, was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise pleasant evening. Fortunately, the other waitstaff were friendly and courteous, helping to salvage the overall experience. Hopefully, management addresses this issue to ensure consistently excellent service for all patrons.

Popped in for the happy hour special, tasty red curry and drunken noodles. The staff are ever so friendly, will be back.

Service brilliant, find ws very disappointed

I've been to Nandon a few times recently and it's always been good. They have nice tapas options where you can try a few different dishes. I got the Fabulous Tapas option which had Massaman Chicken Curry, Jasmine Rice, Duck Spring Rolls and Prawn Toast with sesame seeds. The food was very nice, the service friendly and quick. At lunch time on a Friday it wasn't busy so it was easy to get a table.

Aye here a few times now and never let's us down. Delicious food that packs a taste punch. Chicken satay sticks were delicious, tender with a beautiful satay sauce. Weeping Tiger Steak and Beef Masamman curry were superb and full of flavour.

Absolutely great place for dinner. Food is incredible, good service and nice atmosphere!

They’ve got a pretty good value happy hour menu between 5:30 to 6:30 every day which includes two courses for about £15. The spring rolls and the pad thai were both fine, but nothing memorable. I’d probably try the tom yum or red/green curry next time.

OMG this was some of the best Thai food we ever had! Nice and hot. Fast friendly service. Toilets very nice. Loved the decor especially the beautiful paintings on the wall as you walk towards Toilets. Just gorgeous! It was a cold rainy day and this nice hot Thai food was perfect! Highly recommend!

A random choice as neither myself or friend had been before. Stunning food and wonderful service was had. I am a picky person as I am vegetarian and cook well. This was stunning food, tasty, hot and not over flavoured. The service was extremely polite with an almost gentle approach. Very well done. Completely recommended.

Could not have had a better experience! Atmosphere is so nice and cozy and the staff are amazing! The service was very quick, even though it was super busy, and all the food was beautiful and tasted delicious. Will definitely be coming back :)

Two words - food heaven. My goodness what a proper tastey delight! Couldn’t fault the food at all. It was the type of food that makes you do yummy noises. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu!

I've visited here for meals a number of times and the food has always been great but last night we returned and it has really gone downhill (or we hit a bad night). The satay chicken was overcooked and chewy and the Thai curries we chose had very little chicken in them. The main issue we had though was the doorbell. I don't remember this from precious visits but they seem to have installed a doorbell that plays a series of doorbell chimes everytime a meal is ready to be brought up from the kitchen. As you can imagine on a busy evening this is constant! There is no music and the sounds are loud so it ruins any atmosphere or chance at conversation. So overall we were really disappointed this time.

I ordered on Uber eats. It was delivered quickly. I ordered Pad Kra Pao. There was a warning that this was very spicy, it was so mild that i thought they uad sent me the wrong dish. No rice included which for a dish always served over rice wa a let down. It was okay tasting at best but it tasted like a generic gravy. I have travelled extensively within Thailand and Pad Kra Pao is one of my favourit dishes. This was a hige disappointment. Very few chillis (2 small slices in the whole dish), lacking fish sauce, generic gravy flavour that tasted more chinese than Thai. Expensive given the lack of rice and not authentic to any region I have ever visited. Massive rework needed.

2024 review: 4.5 The specials were excellent. Lamb shank massaman had a silky thick sauce with so much flavour - perfect winter food. My Tom yum prawn dish was huge, with lovely levels of sour tang. Lip smackingly good. Starter platter was mostly delicious expecially prawn toast and fish cakes, but chicken satay was dry and tasted a day old. Curries are excellent. In fact I'm dreaming of slurping the sauces right now. Not lots of vibe on an early Tuesday evening, but if you get a window seat you can watch the world go by and get a little privacy for your conversation. Recommend 2023 review: Had a lovely post work dinner here with colleagues. Beef penang with coconut rice is highly recommended. Flavourful, fragrant and fairly generous portions. The lamb massaman looked excellent too. Mango sticky rice was a tad too dry this time and the rice could have done with a bit more flavour. Overall a great option for a Thai meal. Service and interior is lovely. Tables a little close together at the back so a loud group of men was very audible for us. And we were perhaps a little loud for the young couple sitting there before them. Bill came to £22 each for everyone having mains, soft drinks and desserts. Recommend!

Went there on Monday with my family, to celebrate my birthday, I was not disappointed. The food was good, the staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely go again.

Found several of these little white/ transparent cloth fibres in the pad thai noodles completely put me off so didn't eat and Unfortunately the food was disposed of, it wasn't consumable.

Only marked down the atmosphere because it was so quiet at lunchtime. But it was the week before Newcastle restaurant week and just after new year. Food is excellent

Food was not good at all. Very dry chicken, and not much flavour. Staff are friendly, though, and service was okay. Unfortunately, would not recommend and will not be returning.

Ordered food online for this restaurant with a delivery time of just over an hour. No communication sent but food never arrived. At 11.30 pm my delivery time was changed until 12.10am. When 12.10 am came (3 hours after originally ordering) my order was cancelled. I emailed the restaurant the following day to offer the opportunity to explain and I am still waiting for a response 1 month later.

Amazing! Great atmosphere with really cute seating (an old boat and a cartwheel) and great decor. The service was super nice and the food sooooo good.

Satay chicken for starter was bland and dry as if it was pre made. Nadon special fried rice was nice but could have done with more beef. Family seemed to love it so think I picked the wrong items. Prefer mantra if you’re looking for Thai food, however nadon is more budget friendly.

Much cheaper than I expected, service was a little slow but it wasn't that busy, lighting and decor could be better as it is quite bland but that's just personal preference. Overall I enjoyed my visit and the food was good which is what is important here Excuse the poor photos the yellow lighting does not do well with my phone

I have been going to Nadon for over 10 years now. Firstly in Morpeth and the last 5 years this branch in Newcastle so put my review here. I recently went with my fiancé for happy hour to spend quality time together as he was going to be away for a while with work. The food was as always beautiful and so tasty full of flavour. The happy hour deal is very good value. The food is super fresh - I especially enjoyed my starter of sweetcorn fritters. We were let down as we went for 5:30pm and were the only ones in the restaurant. When the next table came in they were seated on the next table a foot away. In a completely empty restaurant at 5:45pm on a Tuesday. It was very quiet and made us feel very awkward and not quite the quality time we hoped for. For this reason I take a star off.

I visited for the first time yesterday evening. We were greeted warmly, and service was very efficient and friendly. The restaurant had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and was spotlessly clean. The food was very well presented and tasted fresh and delicious! We had the Happy Hour 2 course meal plus some prawn toast as an extra. We throughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely re visit and recommend.

Food - perfect. Two meat eaters and one vegan. All meals perfectly presented, flavours perfectly balanced and incredibly tasty. Staff - helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about vegan options Value - great! Will return to try other menu items. Would recommend the Penang curry.

Lovely restaurant with great food and attentive staff. Ordered the Panang Curry in the vid, and Pad Thai to take away. I’m normally really picky about Pad Thai but loved it from here! Will return whenever I’m in Newcastle

Meal for two plus wine around £48

We had the Pad Thai and green curry and found both really delicious and authentic. The portions sizes were great and overall we felt the food offered great value. Our waiter was also really polite and the food came quickly. Would definitely recommend.

We popped in for the early evening special that's on between half 5 and half 6 daily whilst out for a few beers. The food was delicious, fantastic quality for the price we paid, chicken satay, sweetcorn fritters, massanan curry and panang curry, both served with rice, and a couple of beers all for just over £40. The staff were polite and friendly, the restaurant is set out nicely, and easy access at the bottom of town. Well be back to set about the main menu soon. Highly recommended!

We were visiting the area and decided to come here based on the great reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience - the food arrived hot and full of flavour, there was a wide range of options available. The staff were very attentive and kind. We will definitely come back if we are in the area!

Really nice restaurant with authentic Thai food.

Thai food was never my first choice but my opinion may have changed ! Came here with some work colleagues and it was excellent. A varied menu and great service made it a nice experience.

Booked via website- phone call 20 minutes later advising of booking confirmation. Arrived to empty restaurant at 130, another table of 4 arrived within 10 min. Quick drinks order - bottle house white £17 which is good considering location. I had the tapas with chicken Thai red curry, rice, shumai ( steamed pork dumplings) and spring rolls. Hubby had duck, chicken in a sauce (no6!), rice and spring rolls. Dishes were quickly served, hot and extremely tasty! Very filling for a tapas style lunch- can’t wait to go back in an evening Definitely recommend- service was fabulous, friendly And welcoming Can’t believe ever been here in all times we eaten in town.

Ate here with my partner on holiday and it was absolutely lovely. The food was wonderful and fresh and was prepared to perfection. Lots of options for vegetarians too as you can choose veg and tofu to have in many of the dishes, which was great to see, and one of the main reasons I chose to give Nadon Thai a try. Very friendly staff and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Will definitely be coming here again in the future. If you're looking for a place for superb Thai food, this is it. Go here, it will not disappoint.

Really great vegetarian pad thai

This restaurant has a fun ambience, with a little thatched roof over the bar. The food is very tasty with a menu format that allows for all dishes to be made meat or vegetarian as wanted, giving a huge amount of flexibility. We very much enjoyed our curries. Good drink selection too.

This is a let down from start to finish. Food was tasteless when Thai food should have flavour and be aromatic. Turmeric all over the skewers so you get it all over your hands. Main course was coconut rice with a bland chicken ginger. There was no slices of ginger either whole or in flavouring. Exceptionally poor. This is the only Thai restaurant that is capable of making chicken tough and chewy. Which suggests it wasn't cooked freshly. Don't bother to cross the threshold.

The food here is amazing!! We had panang chicken and beef drunken noodles, the panang curry was so flavourful and lots of meat with just a little spice! The noodles were delicious and the beef was tender. We will definitely be back!

Feel a bit let down by recent reviews on here cos my experience didn't match theirs. Maybe I didn't order well but none of the food I had was great. Not much atmosphere but I guess it was a quiet time. Service, attentive but not great. Might need to return to see the best of this place, but I won't.

I booked here online for a meal with my partner for a celebration. Upon booking i asked if they could do something to surprise my partner as a special request which they forgot about. They also had no heating on it was -1 tonight and they had us sat by the door and to top it off they then forgot about our main dishes and left us waiting for over an hour after our starters. The food was nice but i payed £15 for 3 bits of prawn in my whole main

Really enjoyed this place. Great atmosphere, staff very attentive and the food was amazing. We all had different dishes, and each one was fantastic. My wife had the duck spring rolls and they were packed with duck. I had the Penang curry and the flavour was excellent. I will be back for more awesome food!

I love Thai food so did a quick google search for Thai restaurants in Newcastle. We had our meal last night with no high expectations but I honestly have to say it’s probably one of the best Thai meals I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend This restaurant. The staff where friendly and the food was spot on.

We popped in at lunchtime and had the tom young noodle hotpot with the tofu and veg, along with the pad thai noodles with chicken, we also decided to have some of the tapas, and it was so very good.

We thought this meal was excellent and very tasty. We shared two starters, two mains and a bottle of rosé wine and thought the price was very reasonable too. Service was also very good.
