Sunday lunch for a birthday and it was a bit of a disappointment. Food not served warm, tepid Sunday roast is not great! I see other reviews mention the same issue with meals, not served warm. The Yorkshire pudding was stone cold, vegetables overcooked and roast potatoes not nice. Requested beef pink and it was served grey. Really expected much better!

I had a virgin exp voucher so i put it towards a three course meal with fizz for 2 at dobson parnell. Booked on IG as I had 0 reply on phone and email. Arrived at 12 and all really good, never been before so did not know what to expect. They took our coats and took us to our table. Explained the menu, opened the fizz and took our orders. The food we ordered (see images) was delicious, seriously impressed. Really tasty, had never tasted anything like it before. You can see why it is michelin worthy. I also like the desighn of the resturant too. Staff are really attentive.

Been meaning to go to D&P for years, big reputation to live up to. We had a voucher from our daughter, two three course lunches. We had fish cakes & rosoto with haddock to start - both excellent and decent portions. Mains were chicken and my wife fish - again fantastic. It's probably worth ordering a side or two as portions are not large but adequate. Sweets, plumbing pudding & a fresh tart - We were full but had to eat as so good. Wine & drinks reasonable prices & staff very, very good.

Good food and good position in Newcastle. Ambience and service was very good. Only one criticism - my wife ordered the vegetable wellington and once our starters were finished and removed, were we told that we would have to wait 20 mins for the wellington. If we had been told this at the start whne we ordered, the two options would be to choose another main course or understand we would have to wait - in the circumstances, she would have still ordered the same. Otherwise a good experience

Very disappointing. Despite the description on the menu sadly it didn't deliver on the plate. The smoked salmon starter was nicely presented but glad I wasn't paying the a la carts price for what was salmon, lemon dressing & 4 minuscule drops of mayo. The fresh dill was nice. My friend had the ham hock is still looking for the salad. Main course bread coated buttermilk chicken. Expected breast 3 chicken thighs a bit greasy one of which tasted strange. Coleslaw soggy could buy better at supermarket. Too much mayo. Pickled cucumber ok. but not very exciting. Extra for potatoes or chips. No other veg choice. Chocolate mousse with cherry & honeycomb best of the bunch. I had the pleasure of eating at Raby castle the following day now they make a coleslaw to die for. 1 small glass of wine & 1 cider. At over £90 Inc service charge in restaurant week shame on you.

We went for our anniversary meal last night and opted for the Gourmet meal for 2 experience which included the following: - Two cocktails on arrival - Two snacks - A 3-course à la carte meal for two guests - Two sides - A bottle of house wine - A cheese board. Firstly, the restaurant itself is lovely with a really nice atmosphere and tasteful decoration. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Now onto the food - it was amazing and truly exceeded our expectations. We found it challenging to consume everything on offer, not due to the taste but simply because there was so much to enjoy. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for providing us with a great night, and the anniversary card waiting for us on the table was a lovely touch.

I was sorry to read some recent poor reviews. We have been coming here regularly over the last couple or so years and have never had a bad experience. From the point of booking/email contact, everyone involved with this restaurant is warm, friendly and professional. The food is, in my opinion, consistently excellent. Some things may not be to my taste but that's realistic and plenty of things are! We usually order from the set menu as value for money is important, and have yet to leave hungry. Staff go above and beyond to check you are having the best possible experience without ever being intrusive. Our favourite restaurants over the years are not the most expensive or in possession of numerous michelin stars, but share what Dobson and Parnell do so well; serving really good food in a relaxed atmosphere where for a couple of hours, you feel pretty special.

I visited Dobson and Parnell for a Saturday lunch. The men in the group ordered a lager, but sadly there was only pale ale available. Never mind, they chose something else. Then it was onto deciding what to eat! The main courses on the set menu didn't really appeal to any of us, so a la carte it was - which was fine, we wanted to have a nice time, and if that meant paying a bit more then that was cool. For the starter I had ricotta and bean salad, which was lovely but the portion was tiny! Then the main course arrived. I went for the halibut, which again was nice enough but SO SMALL. The pavlova was the only decent sized dish. In my opinion the portions were taster menu size, but with only three courses we left there pretty hungry. Maybe if it had been a bit cheaper or I'd been able to find something decent on the set menu, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid, but £27.50 for a tiny bit of fish?! It just wasn't worth it. Wine was nice, lol.

After regularly going out most Sunday's and trying Sunday dinners all over the north east, sadly this was the worst one we had! We were so looking forward to going here for food, of course with it being Michelin guide! My partner and I had been to Blackfriars for Sunday dinner and considering this is a partner restaurant, the two could not have been any more different. (Blackfriars Sunday dinner being lovely) The staff at Dobson and Parnell are super friendly and attentive. The Sunday dinner we had was honestly the worst, and we could not wait to leave sadly!! Sorry! The beef was burnt, and had charcoal all over it. The gravy had no taste and was watery, the carrots again, no taste - the veg awful. The potatoes were genuinely so dry and hard to cut, and the cheesy leeks, I have never tasted something so poor before- just the strongest overpowering taste. I do not know really where to begin with the whole meal as it was incredibly bland, and for a Michelin Guide- no wow at all. A poorly homemade Sunday dinner would have beaten this by far. Sadly this is not somewhere we will visit again, and we have even held of retuning to Blackfriars again due to this.

We went for dinner on a Saturday evening and were disappointed that their top three dishes were unavailable, the starter and two mains we wanted to order originally. They explained they had had a busy day but they were at half capacity at 8pm. Not sure if this happens often or it was a one time thing but we were rather disappointed nonetheless. The food was nice but nothing exceptional. I had the fried coley with oyster hollandaise and it was well cooked but I couldn’t really taste the oyster in the hollandaise. I had the bao bun as a starter and the bun itself was quite dense, not light and puffy as it should be. I don’t think we will go back

We were warmly welcomed by Will our waiter for what turned out to be a most enjoyable evening. Firstly, Will asked for our drinks order and I was curious about an orange wine that was on the menu. He enthused greatly over the taste and style of the wine and even offered us a small sample to taste. It wasn’t to my palate so we chose something else but Will never put us under any pressure. We both chose our starters and mains, being the kimchi pancake and pigeon with black pudding to start followed by the scallops with tempura roe and the breaded sole. Each dish was presented beautifully and delivered with a sense of pride. Each element was fresh, cooked to perfection and tasted every bit as good as it looked. Dessert was a rhubarb and ginger bakewell and I plumbed for a small cheese board both of which were delicious. Overall, we had a superb evening in a relaxed and friendly environment made all the better by Will our polite and knowledgeable waiter. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends who are visiting Newcastle soon.

The restaurant is elegant and the staff are real professionals. One of our party has a background in the wine business and was very pleased to be able to discuss choice of wine with a staff member who proved knowledgeable and helpful. It was also pleasing that two of the party wanted halibut, but didn’t want the accompanying mussels. this wish was conveyed to the chef who revamped the dish exactly to our satisfaction. The kitchen was missing a talented chef last night, and the room was heaving. My cauliflower soup was tasteless with strange pickles scattered in, I left it. My duck leg was large but salty and served with chili and charred cauliflower. Husbands halibut and starter of trout was OK, but the triple cooked chips were white with undercooking and were taken off the bill. Service was friendly but we won’t be returning. The quality of food is undeniable. The chicken was cooked to perfection, almost melting in my mouth, same for the cod. Liked the soup and enjoyed the chocolate dessert. However, I have to say that for the amount of money we paid I would expect a bit better taste wise. Portions were a bit on the small side (we went during Restaurant Week) and nothing really stood out. We sat close to the window and there was a strong light coming towards us which affected negatively the already bright ambiance. Unlike too many other Sunday lunch offerings, where everything is a generic sideshow to the meat, here every element is given the same thought and care as the perfectly pink, succulent beef itself; light, fluffy Yorkshires, maple glazed carrots, luxuriously creamy leeks, herb roasted spuds. I came for Sunday lunch with my partner. The staff were very friendly however it did take a long time for orders to be taken. The restaurant appeared to be fairly full but they did seem to have adequate staff working so I’m not sure...

Fine dining tasting menu with a wine pairing for my partner's birthday and we've never been before. We're greeted with a birthday card from the restaurant which is a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The whole evening, the service, the food, the wine, the effort was exceptional and for once the vegetarian tasting menu for my partner does not contain endless pasta or risotto. It's as imaginative as the normal menu and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you very much for an excellent evening and we can't wait to book again.

We arrived and were shown to our table and asked if we wanted water for the table and drinks order taken and brought quickly. Positives The staff were very attentive. The bread that we were given to start was amazing, along with the seaweed butter that complemented it. The food was amazing and portion sizes generous. Good value for money. Negatives None I can think of. Will we return Yes, we certainly will.

We received a voucher for a 3 course lunch with a glass of Fizz. We arrived at the restaurant and were immediately greeted and seated. I was very happy with the table position as I could see around the restaurant. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable and helped us to make wise choices that suited our tastes. We decided to go for the wine pairings with the first and second courses which proved to be excellent wines. The food was presented beautifully and the tastes were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed each one. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel right at home by the staff. We will definitely be back.

We opted for the 7 course tasting menu, first course was very plain danish pastry, the 2 meat dishes were duck, first one the duck was tough. Second one was basically a slice of toasted focaccia with a duck paste, not impressive. The fish dish...

Superb restaurant who pay particular attention to guest allergies. I have never been to anywhere as scrupulously efficient in putting my mind at rest over my crustacean allergy. The service was second to none and the food scrumptious. Highly recommend

I dined at Dobson and Parnell twice. The service was very good both times. Sadly, I can’t say the same for food. However, the price is quite affordable and the friendly service makes for a pleasant dining experience. My most recent visit was for a three course pre-theatre dinner. I had the mackerel for starter. It was simply a smoked mackerel with a hint of ginger, and mayonnaise which I could have easily had at home. My confit duck main could be described as an over-cooked Gressingham duck leg. It was left in the oven for too long. It wasn’t at all tender with a melt in the mouth texture as confit duck should be. The mille fuille dessert was better than the main, but it had an overpowering taste of coconut. It was not the best mille fuille I had. Overall, although the food was under-par, I had an excellent dining experience due to friendly service and atmosphere.

I had a lovely dining experience at this place. Absolutely amazing service, they hang your coat for you, come to ask how you enjoy your meal very often, and with a very polite and friendly attitude. The price for the set meal is affordable, and the quality of the food is totally worth it. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to go on a date or hang out with friends for a special occasion to come to this place, at least the experience I had is pretty good.

Just heard that Vinny’s which was the fantastic Italian pop up at Patricia is no more! Gutted as it was one of the best Italian restaurants out there! Visited multiple times and always had great meals! I hope whatever they’ve got planned is just as good!
