Red Mezze in Newcastle upon Tyne

We have been here a few times ,we always have the £12.50 special menu as it is usually very tasty and good value . However this time was very disappointing, we both had Sasuka to start , the bread was lovely but the food was very bland and tastless. I had Adana for main again really unappetising and poor presentation , I only ate half of it . My OH had the meatballs which again were bland and dry . So disappointed as we love this little gem and the staff are so nice and friendly . We probably won't return .

Ordered a delivery from here today after having never been here before, and we were very impressed. Delivered quickly for a good price, and very high quality food. I highly recommend.

Visited Saturday afternoon, were warmly greeted and were pleased to find a lovely atmosphere with the restaurant half full and filling up as time went on. We had the afternoon menu - a bargain. Beautifully presented food that was so tasty and attentive staff. A lovely afternoon.

Vine aquí para una comida con mi familia para una ocasión de cumpleaños uno de los servidores llamado Aaron estoy seguro que nos hace sentir tan incómodos y nos da muy mala actitud y también al pedir al servidor una dirección de correo electrónico que nos dio uno falso como gerente yo mismo no estoy de acuerdo con la forma en que se manejó la situación, nos hizo sentir muy incómodos, y también el personal se puso muy agresivo que luego terminó en mi sobrino teniendo mucho miedo, comportamiento absolutamente asqueroso, nunca se sintió tan incómodo en toda mi vida, arruinó totalmente la ocasión de cumpleaños, creo que el gerente necesita ordenar a su personal, o conseguir nuevo personal que sabe cómo tener realmente servicio al cliente, absolutamente impactante!

Especiales de la hora del almuerzo son exquisitos. Así que nosotros el hígado de pollo. El personal es amable y nunca he tenido una comida pobre. Hay un montón si la elección, porciones de tamaño amdecebtv y la comida está bien preparada y muy bien presentada. Los toques sutiles hacen que se destaque como el mejor restaurante turco de la ciudad imo!

Used to visit in 2008 for 6 years when I was a Sales Manager covering the U.K. I lived in Somerset at the time. My daughter married a Geordie and moved up to Northumberland. I also moved up in 2018 and have continued to use on a regular basis. The food is always excelled and the service likewise. Is it always busy with a great atmosphere. This is a highly recommended restaurant. A real jeeel in the centre of Newcastle.

I always try and come to a turkish restaurant whenever I come to Newcastle to visit our son. It was the first time we've come to this restaurant though and we will repeat next time I'm back, although this time I'll call to see if they have any kunafe 😀. We ordered both hot and cold mezzes, both delicious. We had two lamb dishes and one chicken. Overall, the food was just amazing, full of flavour. The two desserts were beautiful, and the service was superb. We shall be back again. Thank you for making it such a lovely dining experience with my family. Forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food!!

I love Red Mezze. Whenever I fancy Turkish food this is always my go to. I have tried every Turkish restaurant in the area and this is my favourite by far and the only one I return to time and time again

Really good service, calamari dish was boring 16 quid for what was served was surprising, starters good, others main courses looked good. Interior is tired, toilets not great.

It’s one of that best food places I have visited in Newcastle, so good I had to tell everyone in my friendship group and family about it

We ordered the Lam Guvee, 10/10 amazing food! Lovely staff. Great prices. Not to mention they closed their kitchen at 10:30 and we arrived at 10:20 and still went above and beyond to accommodate for us. They even left the restaurant open late for us as we were still Eating & Drinking. I would highly recommended this spot. If you’re looking for traditional food and a great service you’ll feel welcome here. Thank you Red Mezze & Ahmed!

Visited this afternoon for a quick lunch as we had been on the road for 2 hours we were super hungry and asked if we could have our food served up ASAP. They did not disappoint. Amazing customer service food was on point. Will definitely visit again when in Newcastle.

Pensé que probaríamos este restaurante ya que nos encanta la comida turca y nuestro favorito habitual está un poco más lejos y no tuvo tiempo para ir. A la llegada pensamos que la decoración era un poco cansado mirando, pero el personal era bastante cortés. Pedimos un poco de aceitunas mixtas, Hummus y salsa de chile con pan turco para comenzar y compartir. El Hummus y el pan estaba muy bien, al igual que la salsa de chile, con una buena patada, pero no demasiado picante. Las aceitunas negras grandes en las aceitunas mixtas que encontré eran bastante firmes, pero todas cayeron de todos modos. Para nuestra red pedimos una parrilla mixta, un pollo y cordero kebab y un pollo Shish que eran muy agradables, pero mi esposa pensó que el pollo Shish estaba un poco seco. Lo único bastante decepcionante fue que todos vienen con un envoltorio de tortilla barato que no era atractivo y realmente no se podía utilizar esto para hacer un envoltorio con la carne, ya que era tan pequeño. En los buenos restaurantes turcos suelen presentar este tipo de comidas con un buen trozo de pan turco de lavash que es mucho más apetitoso. Mi esposa pidió un postre de pistacho envuelto en pastelería Filo supuestamente con crema coagulada, pero la crema coagulada era crema en aerosol rociada en el plato. El desierto de pistacho estaba bien, pero nada especial, sin embargo, también nos presentaron un desierto turco de cortesía que parecía Tulumba, que era un buen toque. En general, este restaurante era mucho menos caro de lo habitual y tuvimos una experiencia agradable y volveríamos.

We went to Red Mezze for lunch. The food was very tasty and the staff were very friendly. I deeply recommend this restaurant.

So I really thought I will have to write this review here, so hopefully the Red Mezze manager could act on improving their food quality. I placed an order for a hot mezzeh - kofta in tomato sauce for take away. I opened the package at home, and the food contained significant amount of burnt particles/?burnt food. The food tasted very poor like a not fresh meal. I think as a restaurant probably you will have to think of not defrosting and re-heating an old meal (likely causing the burnt particles as a result of multiple heatings in the pot) and sell it to your customers as a fresh meal. I am so disappointed with the quality, and this review is only so hopefully you will improve your quality… thanks.

In Newcastle, Red Mezze offers Halal Turkish cuisine that's hit or miss. While the food is decent, my recent experience fell short of expectations. When a dish didn't meet standards, the solution was not quite satisfactory. However, the staff were friendly and accommodating, which added to the overall atmosphere. Despite the cozy ambiance, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it.

Normally really love this place but was disappointed when I went there yesterday. One of the platters we normally get to share has gone up nearly a £10 extra and took off chips and reduced the amount of meat they used to give you for less. How is that fair???? I am never returning. It’s a shame. Oh well!

Family visit for the first time, looking for authentic Arabian style food and we were not disappointed. We lived the Hot maze platter starter. I got the chargrilled lamb ribs and chicken wings, all our food was cooked fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be going back.

Dips were good, the filo pastry and iskender average. Not much flavor to the iskender sauce and was mostly pita, not a whole lot of chicken.

Excellent food, portion sizes are not small. Best calamari I've had. Inexpensive dishes. Such friendly and welcoming staff. What a fab experience. Even though we were so full we couldn't eat it all, we were offered a semolina and cream dessert and then Turkish Delight. "Mauza" ( sorry if the spelling is incorrect ) made us feel very, very welcome. If I didn't live in Lancashire, I would be back in a hurry.

The lunch meal deal was very impressive. I ordered a patlican for starter and chicken shish for main. The chick peas with pomegranate seed tasted smoothly and sour ( I’m a huge fan of sour flavor lol). Chicken shish was also tasty. Turkish coffee was in a very small cup and also tasted very smoothly. Importantly! The naan bread was the best one I’ve ever had! Soft but chewy. Generally speaking, everything was spot on. Highly recommended 😆

Went for Mother's Day. Glad we booked a table because it was busy. The service was good, and staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, well presented and filling. Atmosphere was nice, despite it being a rainy day, everyone was in good spirits.

Don’t order in Just Eat. Twice we have ordered, the app said the food was delivered but never arrived. Staff unhelpful, said they didn’t have contact details for the driver and to contact Just Eat. App had said they lost contact with the driver -surely they should have the driver details it’s ridiculous! Over and hour waiting for food for my Birthday that never arrived. Someone is getting the free food we order as the driver picked it up from the restaurant!

I came to Newcastle from London to visit some family. My mum's Friend who is a Local suggested us this place so we decided to take our guests here for dinner. We were greeted by Moaz who looked after my that evening. He was amazing! We both spoke the same language (Arabic) though the rest of my party didn't, He recommended us the mixed grill platters and Cold Mezze platter. Both the Cold Mezze and mixed grill were amazing! The starters were delicious, the main was hot, succulent, soft and also met the dietary requirements made by my mother. Moaz was an amazing host, he looked after my mums specific Dietary requirement, he made sure the food we order will be plenty for our party. Him and I spoke for a bit and it was really nice to be welcomed by his warm, friendly attitude. After our meal, He was ready with the Kahwa and even got us some desserts on the house His hospitality was amazing!!! As we were about to leave, When paying there was no service charge, So I asked that I would like to tip as a small gesture of gratitude, and He REFUSED. It was a long back and forth between him and I but he was adamant. Only For Him and His hospitality I will Drive from London to Newcastle again! Must go for food, but you will miss the hospitality as its rare. Food 10/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Service 10/10 SHUKRAN Moaz!

Fantastic food, served by brilliant friendly and helpful staff, we had the hot mezze sharing plate, the quality and quantity of the food was brilliant. My partner had the mixed grill and said the lamb chop was the nicest chop he’d ever eaten. Upon the recommendation of the lovely waitress, I had the moussaka, it was amazing.

Very misleading from the outside, looks like a Chinese takeaway, but dropping down into the second room was a pleasant surprise. The Turkish culture was great and food was amazing.
