The best Turkish restaurant in the town.... Really amazing..

bread was a bit hard but the rest was delicious!

So I really thought I will have to write this review here, so hopefully the Red Mezze manager could act on improving their food quality. I placed an order for a hot mezzeh - kofta in tomato sauce for take away. I opened the package at home, and the food contained significant amount of burnt particles/?burnt food. The food tasted very poor like a not fresh meal. I think as a restaurant probably you will have to think of not defrosting and re-heating an old meal (likely causing the burnt particles as a result of multiple heatings in the pot) and sell it to your customers as a fresh meal. I am so disappointed with the quality, and this review is only so hopefully you will improve your quality… thanks.

Really good food and attentive service. The £12.50 lunch deal is great value, big portion sizes and all delicious. Would recommend.

A little bit on the pricey side though. It will be good to order both appetitizer and main course together, since it takes a bit of time to get latter, given our past two experiences.

In Newcastle, Red Mezze offers Halal Turkish cuisine that's hit or miss. While the food is decent, my recent experience fell short of expectations. When a dish didn't meet standards, the solution was not quite satisfactory. However, the staff were friendly and accommodating, which added to the overall atmosphere. Despite the cozy ambiance, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it.

Normally really love this place but was disappointed when I went there yesterday. One of the platters we normally get to share has gone up nearly a £10 extra and took off chips and reduced the amount of meat they used to give you for less. How is that fair???? I am never returning. It’s a shame. Oh well!

Family visit for the first time, looking for authentic Arabian style food and we were not disappointed. We lived the Hot maze platter starter. I got the chargrilled lamb ribs and chicken wings, all our food was cooked fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be going back.

Dips were good, the filo pastry and iskender average. Not much flavor to the iskender sauce and was mostly pita, not a whole lot of chicken.

We visited Red Mezze for a family meal. We were greeted by very friendly staff and shown straight to our table. The food was excellent and everyone was very pleased with their selection. I had the sea bass and it was amazing

Excellent food, portion sizes are not small. Best calamari I've had. Inexpensive dishes. Such friendly and welcoming staff. What a fab experience. Even though we were so full we couldn't eat it all, we were offered a semolina and cream dessert and then Turkish Delight. "Mauza" ( sorry if the spelling is incorrect ) made us feel very, very welcome. If I didn't live in Lancashire, I would be back in a hurry.

Everything is almost perfect, missed the two sauces ordered, everything else is really good.

The lunch meal deal was very impressive. I ordered a patlican for starter and chicken shish for main. The chick peas with pomegranate seed tasted smoothly and sour ( I’m a huge fan of sour flavor lol). Chicken shish was also tasty. Turkish coffee was in a very small cup and also tasted very smoothly. Importantly! The naan bread was the best one I’ve ever had! Soft but chewy. Generally speaking, everything was spot on. Highly recommended 😆

Went for Mother's Day. Glad we booked a table because it was busy. The service was good, and staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, well presented and filling. Atmosphere was nice, despite it being a rainy day, everyone was in good spirits.

Don’t order in Just Eat. Twice we have ordered, the app said the food was delivered but never arrived. Staff unhelpful, said they didn’t have contact details for the driver and to contact Just Eat. App had said they lost contact with the driver -surely they should have the driver details it’s ridiculous! Over and hour waiting for food for my Birthday that never arrived. Someone is getting the free food we order as the driver picked it up from the restaurant!

I came to Newcastle from London to visit some family. My mum's Friend who is a Local suggested us this place so we decided to take our guests here for dinner. We were greeted by Moaz who looked after my that evening. He was amazing! We both spoke the same language (Arabic) though the rest of my party didn't, He recommended us the mixed grill platters and Cold Mezze platter. Both the Cold Mezze and mixed grill were amazing! The starters were delicious, the main was hot, succulent, soft and also met the dietary requirements made by my mother. Moaz was an amazing host, he looked after my mums specific Dietary requirement, he made sure the food we order will be plenty for our party. Him and I spoke for a bit and it was really nice to be welcomed by his warm, friendly attitude. After our meal, He was ready with the Kahwa and even got us some desserts on the house His hospitality was amazing!!! As we were about to leave, When paying there was no service charge, So I asked that I would like to tip as a small gesture of gratitude, and He REFUSED. It was a long back and forth between him and I but he was adamant. Only For Him and His hospitality I will Drive from London to Newcastle again! Must go for food, but you will miss the hospitality as its rare. Food 10/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Service 10/10 SHUKRAN Moaz!

Fantastic food, served by brilliant friendly and helpful staff, we had the hot mezze sharing plate, the quality and quantity of the food was brilliant. My partner had the mixed grill and said the lamb chop was the nicest chop he’d ever eaten. Upon the recommendation of the lovely waitress, I had the moussaka, it was amazing.

Very misleading from the outside, looks like a Chinese takeaway, but dropping down into the second room was a pleasant surprise. The Turkish culture was great and food was amazing.

Today Saturday 3rd feb the staff worked extremely hard as it was so so busy. The food was absolutely gorgeous as always. If you have not been it's a must. 11.95 for 2 courses. Staff very friendly Love it x

Really nice turkish restaurant Had the 2 course lunch deal for under £12 I got a saksuka and a moussaka Both were really nice, notably the rice that cane with the moussaka was very fragrant and savory The service was not as good as the food unfortunately. One of the servers was not friendly, which got worse when the place got more busy. Still, I'd recommend this place for the food alone

So when I examined my bill more closely I was charged for the chilli sauce I asked for. I mean, really. Chilli sauce is a standard for Turkish food, not an extra. The garlic sauce was standard garlic mayo. The side salad was bland, almost flavourless. The meat was nice though, hence the three stars. Fairly standard hummus, nothing special. There are better places in Newcastle that charge the same prices. Given where they are located at the edge of the food/drink area of town, I would have expected more effort, not less. Would not recommend.

Food - chicken was dry, the rice was lovely and the bread wasnt great. Felt like it had been sitting all night. I assumed (my fault) that it would be fresh bread like most Turkish/Lebanese restaurants. In terms of delivery, we had the most rude and obnoxious delivery driver. He could not figure out how to open our gate then instead of walking to the front of the property, he just sat at the back of the house beeping his horn until we heard it and went out to see what was happening. I was visiting Newcastle for a meeting and found this little gem located in around China Town and near St James stadium. Food tasted nice and portion sizes were good. Definitely recommend and will visit again

Delivery was 3 hours after order time due to lack of drivers. Eventually arrived - 5+ miles on a bicycle so was barely warm. The food had to be reheated in microwave but was actually still really good. Just Eat really let the restaurant down

Have used Red Mezze loads over the years for both take out & dine in . It’s always consistently good - never had a bad meal yet. Just wish it wasn’t an hours return trip 😂- still worth it though .

Over 3hrs late - disgusting service from the restaurant. Food was stone cold and inedible. Full refund expected and will never order from here again! Unbelievably poor

The mixed grill was lovely as were the potatoes, first time I have tried these. I think someone may have forgotten to put the cheese in the creamy chicken as it was not stringy like it is in restaurant and there was no taste of cheese at all. The food was just warm enough, maybe due to the late delivery?

Great value and so very toothsome

Food arrived barely warm and the portion size was shocking. It comes in a tray with compartments, 6 chunks of meat, couple spoonfuls of rice and the meat was on a weird soggy bit of something that i dont know how to describe. Bread was ok but bit overbaked. The lamb was barely chewable. I wish just eat let you upload photos

Over two hours late, cold inedible

Have visited this restaurant many times over the years and also live part of the year in Turkey so know a little bit about Turkish food - ordered bulgar wheat starter and was served couscous - questioned this and was told in Morocco the words were very similar - pointed out I didn’t come for a moroccan meal - humus so heavy with tahini it was bitter and unpleasant - mains really oily and greasy. Very pleasant waiter who tried to explain things away but it just wasn’t good - oh and the price has gone up quite a bit - sad to say won’t be back ☹️
