The best restaurants in County Durham North East

Excellent venue. Excellent service really friendly staff. My wife had pizza and it was very nice. I had gammon and chips which where served in a bowl! Why? very difficult to eat from a bowl! Chips also not so good hard and fatty. Nice place though.

Having read reviews that praised the food, decided for wife and i to order a take away - vindaloo and korma, we both thought it was the worst Indian we have ever had in 45 years, so no more from this establishment

£42 for a wrap, two chips and two toasties. Missed the chips off for the wrap. Asked how long we were going to be on the phone as we rang in and I said 10 minutes. Asked several times how long it was going to be and 40 minutes later it was ready. Food was not good either.

Visited very early in the year,first time here didn't know what to expect.Think I need a visit later in year to see gardens.

Loved the ambiance in this restaurant - low lighting, beautifully furnished - a really special feeling for a lovely night out. The special menus were a novelty, and the attentive service was superb (eg noticing a light was out on a menu so replacing it without being asked, noting that I had spattered my tip so providing a wipe, again without being asked). Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. The locals are lucky to have this place. Would definitely return if in the area again and will recommend to those we know who visit often.

Thought is was poor and tasteless chicken was good quality but def not worth the money

5 of us went for Sunday lunch, good choice of beef, chicken, pork or gammon, large potions, cooked to perfection and very tasty, very friendly and attentive staff, lovely place to go when I visit family in the North East

We went for a wedding - not ours Cant comment on rooms as didn't stay but heard they were nice. Some nicer than others and vary in price significantly. Only down side - Service at bar at certain points was slow or non existent but other than that was fine. Typically expensive Beautiful location for a wedding Very aesthetic Food was nice Bride loved it and that's what matters

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff and I've not had a better Flat White anywhere.

Tried it this evening 22nd February on recommendation from a friend not impressed with the food ordered chicken and pineapple with fried rice and chips with carton of sweet and sour sauce and curry sauce as well. Found it very bland and chicken pieces tough and stringy will not go again wasn’t worth the price
