We were let down by another restaurant last night and Samrat rescued us.(party of 14)The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and so it turned out to be a lovely evening. I can recommend Thankyou.

Honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else for food!

Had my first samrat tonight thought I would try some where new for my favourite curry a pathia delivery of my food was earlier than expected which is always a plus. Food, the curry was nice but nothing special and lacked the flavour a pathia should have which was a bit of a disappointment but was still nice but the chips just weren't right tho they were closer to chip shop chips cut like steak cut ones when Indian chips should be big chunky things as I've come a custom to at every other takeout or dine in Indians. But overall it was decent just not to the standard I like.

Just moved back to seaham and we’ve tried a few lovely Indians in our time and this place was recommended. So we got a takeaway. If you like here then you haven’t tried a proper Indians😣 chips were stale and dry and freezing absolutely disgusting. Chicken was bouncy. Never ever seen a keema nann like it😂 personally we won’t be returning.

Fabulous food, service ,price, ambience definitely worth a visit.Food here is very consistent wether it be dine un or take away. Can definitely recommend the Duck Hariali.

Went on a Thursday night and took advantage of the all night £15.95 offer for starter, main course, rice and naan. All of the food was excellent and service polite and efficient. Will certainly be back as the same offer is available all night on Sundays as well and up until 7pm on other nights (6.30 on Saturday).

Amazing food, service, value for money. ambience...etc etc..everything you could ask for a perfect, enjoyable meal out. Table of 6 of us went tonight just as they opened & were greeted by extremely friendly staff...We all ordered from the early evening menu £15.95..starter, main + rice or chips and nan bread. Food was served quickly and absolutely delicious.There were 5 completely different dishes chosen & sampling each others one was equally as good as the other however got to say the " Duck haraili " was exceptional..Bill for 6 Inc extra poppadoms & pickles, beers set drinks & coffee just under £130. Definitely worth a 5☆ rating.

Great place, took me 15 years to find this place and I’m impressed. This is an authentic Indian takeaway. The prices are ridiculously cheap for the incredible food. Would I order here again? The answer is yes, I’m within good reason to believe that these guys have mastered Indian cuisine.

Was a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews. We went early evening, it was already busy. Had popadoms, starter and main. All came in perfect time and was hot and sizzling. Lovely friendly service, everything was spotless and nicely decorated. Food was exceptional, highly recommended! Shame they don’t deliver to Staffordshire 😂.

We had a table booked for 7 pm , we ordered poppadoms and 2 children’s meals as well , 8 pm , still no poppadoms, we asked where they were , 5 minutes later they arrived , the 2 kids were starving , 30 minutes later the kids meals and the starters arrived . The main meals arrived 45 minutes later ! There was too many people in the restaurant and they were doing take outs too . Getting greedy doesn’t keep the customer happy , our bill was £449,, they took the money but the service was appalling, everyone around us complained and one table walked out , Won’t be going back there in a hurry !

Celebration last night , very disappointed, they missed 1 starter ,should have checked and Rogan Josh was just chopped tomatoes with lamb totally tasteless and the garlic cheese nan bread was just nan bread ,ordered drink they forgot, poppadoms came with the starters and waited 2 hours for the main course , really disappointed as not our previous experience but wont be going back

It breaks my heart to have to put a negative review on here as usually love Samrats. But for the second time tonight has been very disappointing, foid was good apart from giving ma a chicken curry, I am veggie.We waited an hour for starters and a further 40 minutes for main course, they forgot our drinks altogether. The table of 8 next to us left after nearly 3 hours and had only had poppadoms. After a really traumatic week we were looking for a lovely night out this was anything but.

Another beautiful meal very regular customers everyone so welcoming each time we time we come, service first class so attentive. Merry Christmas to you all

Where do I start!!! For 1 the starter we had was onion bhaji overcooked and cold with no taste to it and as for the main course not all that warm and had no taste we ordered garlic nan bread with cheese on but very little cheese.

Nice service, but the food was bland and tasteless, the onion bahji starter was over cooked and rock hard definitely not freshly cooked, small potions of rice and very small pieces of garlic bread, not a filling meal at all.

Had a beautiful time. Everything was spot on 👌

The first time we have been to Samrat even though we live in Seaham and we are certain it won't be the last. Food was delicious and service faultless. Complimentary shots at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Only three tables occupied when we were there, definitely should be more!!

Awesome My favourite Indian restaurant

Hands down the best indian restaurant in the local area. I would not go anywhere else, the takeaway is good too. The lamb roshuni is delicious. It’s modern, and the staff are great!

First time visit and it's a really good Indian restaurant with very tasty food. Will return there soon.

Food is nice but average. This place looked appealing and l ordered a takaway from specials menu( for two ppl) The breads were perfectly cooked, light & fresh , Jalfrezi was nice but lacked some body to it!! a richness was lacking in the sauce but it was still palatable just not morish the onion bhaji and rice were cooked lovely though

Visited for my birthday and yet another great experience. Asked the waitor about Hariali and I'm glad I tried something new which had spinach in list of ingredients. In video order: Hariali, house curry, Zalfrezi asked for 1 less chilli (jalfrezi) & Korma.

We had a party of 10 people booked within 48 hours notice. Not only was it one of the best curries I have had in a while, the service and menu was outstanding. This will be our go to go place for a curry now. Thank you for your hospitality 👍👍👍👍

Staff friendly and helpful but unfortunately on this occasion food not up to standard ,my chicken buna was far to hot I choose buna as it is a mild curry ,portion size ample

We've been here a few times for their set menu on an evening and every time has been wonderful. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly and every dish had been delicious. Highly recommended.

3 of us waited 50 minutes to get our food. People who arrived after us had been served ages before and people who were seated at the same time as us had finished their food before we even got ours. The food was lovely, but not worth the wait.

Have just come home from Samrat after having a meal with 3 others and I am more than happy to give this restaurant 5 stars for everything.....food..service..cleanliness and the staff are absolutely fabulous. I honestly cannot praise this place enough and would 100% recommend to anybody wanting an Indian meal to visit.

Perfect food and staff/service. Only slightly tarnished by a large group of twenty somethings who could not hood their beer and thought it was their right to be rude to staff... Who handled them well nonetheless

Ordered a takeaway in order to settle in the house on New Year's Eve. Collected my food and drove back from Samrat in Seaham to Sunderland only to find the food was cold and three items from my £35 order were missing. After telephoning Samrat I again got my car out and drove back through to Seaham to collect my missing items. I found this to be a rather frustrating and a disappointing start to my culinary experience with Samrat although staff were pleasant enough throughout and apologised for their mistake. Back home I put the car away again, managed to settle and re-heat my ordered meal. The food was tasty with a really nice flavour. I will return to Samrat at a future date for another takeaway as their food is of a higher quality than most places and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Hopefully, next time I visit I will be given the full order I paid for without any mix ups and subsequent hassle; if so, I'm confident they will deserve a 5 star review. Nice food, pleasant staff... give it a try BUT if you order a takeaway be sure it is your full order you are collecting. Good luck, Cheers.

I had the Lamb Chop Bhuna from the chefs special menu. I can honestly say it was one of the best curry’s I’ve ever had. I’ve visited here a number of times now and never been disappointed.

To start the food is beautiful, really nice decor though it felt cramped.....we waited over a hour for our food to arrive which was frustrating and I can only imagine was due to the fact so many people where in the restaurant at the time.

9 of us went to Samrat for a family meal on a Wednesday evening, we were booked in for 7.00pm, we were finaly served our main course at 9.20pm. 140 minutes later. The place was reasonably busy when we arrived but almost empty by the time left shortly before 10.00pm. The service for the entire evening was appalling, Popadoms are traditionally an appetiser, ours turned up 2 hours after they were ordered with our main course, we had to chase a waiter to take our drinks order, then our food order and were constantly asking where our food was. People came into the restaurant after us and were served and left over an hour before we were. We got a stream of mealy mouthed excuses why we were waiting, none of which sounded sincere. The food was great, we've been scores of times in the past, we knew the food was good, but this will have been our last visit. There are numerous excellent Indian restaurants in the area, all of them wishing to keep their business open in these times when money is tight could, and would, have done better. As we were getting up to leave we were offered a free round of drinks - nearly 3 hours after we had arrived. No good. Needless to say, we shall not return.

We had an Indian Sunday Lunch today in Samrat. We enjoyed the meal so much. It was a nice surprise that Samrat is open for lunches.

We come from Nottingham which has some good Indian restaurants but this beats them all. Food is so fresh and each dish has so many tastes within it. Took quite a time to cook but that is a good sign. Very friendly staff and very clean decor and toilets. Definitely five star and thank you so much for a fab meal on a Tuesday evening too. You deserve to do very well.

Had a takeaway last night, worst one ever had, ordered a garlic nan, when it came was not garlic and very small, main course was mushroom pilau and was tasteless with what should have been chicken masala, very little chicken and sauce was more like a corma, I would not recommend to anyone and we will not be going there again, can't see them being open for long.

Waited forever for our meal. Regulars were treated like God's. Our 1st and last time here after spending over 60 quid on a midweek special. Average food for expensive prices

We've tried the new healthy menu twice now, and both times the food was delicious. Whilst not being vegetarians, we choose vegetarian dishes that didn't disappoint. Good service and hospitality, made for 2 really nice nights out.
