We stayed for a few days at Purdy Lodge in September & October. Whilst there, we decided to have dinner there on one of the nights. There is an area of the restaurant which is dog friendly which is great.
Staff were pleasant and friendly
The starter in Sept was delicious! Sticky Belly Pork & Black Pudding Salad. When it came out you would have thought we were dining in a fine dining restaurant. It was beautifully presented, and a good portion size too. It tasted amazing and the belly pork was soft and tender. It was just a shame when we visited in October it was no longer on the menu. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!
The mains and pudding were just as good, but the belly pork was just next level.
My wife and I stayed one night at The Dyvels in September 2024 while exploring Hadrians Wall on our way back to York.
We were both really pleasantly surprised by how charming the Inn is. Corbridge is a lovely little town with, obviously, ancient history. None of that charm has been lost gladly. Dyvels is a small cozy pub with 5 lodging rooms and a tranquil garden, but the best part was the food which was WAY better than a small pub in a small Northumbrian town has any business being.
We had dinner, fish n chips for me, and a chicken dish for Mrs M. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, but with such incredible flavour. It was bone fide fancy restaurant quality, not pub grub. Full Northumbrian breakfast next morning was huge, tasty and set us up proper for a long drive.
It was a really quiet Wednesday when we were there. No other lodging guests and a small handful of locals in the pub, so service was super quick. It was really quiet and relaxing, enjoying the fresh air dining out in the garden. Had a little chat with the bar staff. Very friendly, but not particularly talkative; shame as I always like to chat with locals when travelling to get a sense of life in another part of the world.
Our room was really spacious and comfortable. Slept really well in the big soft bed with loads of pillows. Window opened over the garden and sports fields beyond, so a really pretty view. Bathroom was clean and everything worked. Lots of plugs to recharge our devices. For the price it was really good.
Overall I'm really glad we chose to stop at Dyvels Inn and Corbridge. It's a fantastic little corner of our brilliant little island. I'd love to spend more time here. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, good food, fresh air and the tranquility of wide open spaces.
Superb lunch today at this fantastic country pub. We booked (recommended) and were really impressed with the food and service. Had the special crispy squid with salami salad and brown shrimp with smoked salmon rillette to start - both really delicious. For the mains we opted for the pork belly and fish and chips. The standard of cooking is the best in the area. I’d forgotten my hat and they called to warn me when I was only 5 mins down the road so could go back to get it - much appreciated. Really deserves its pub of the year award. Hope they can repeat it again this year

An absolute amazing staff member called Thomas gave the best customer service I’ve ever received from a Starbucks. Such a bubbly and funny person NEEDS A PAY RISE!!! I’m so happy with the service I received today. Thank you
I called in tonight for a takeaway. The ordering process was quick and dealt with politely and efficiently. The 20 minute turnaround that I requested was not a problem. All that aside, the quality of the food was supreme.
So ... we were looking for somewhere different in Yarm today for lunch .and as we walked past "The House" I was seduced by a picture outside of a full english breakfast . The picture depicted a plate with two eggs , two sausages and all the trimmings , it looked delicious . I didn't need to look at the menu , I knew what I wanted to eat .
We duly went inside and were greeted warmly by a member of staff .
How disappointing to find that the picture outside in no way resembled the actual food !
Only one egg , one sausage ....etc
I felt we were lured inside by false advertising ... .
Granted the Menu on inspection did state " Egg , Sausage , etc etc " .... but not what was depicted on the picture outside .
So .... be warned !!!!
My husband and I came here on a Saturday evening with his brother for some drinks and food. With it being a Saturday evening, the pub was jam packed (which was obviously to be expected) so it was noisy but not rowdy. It was difficult to find a seat initially, just wait and then pounce as soon as the opportunity arises. The food was nothing more than fine, but the service was good and the drinks tasted nice at a more than reasonable price. This is definitely a good place to come with friends if you’re wanting a good drink.

Amazing food, margarita really cheesy n thick, just like I like it, nice fellow at the counter, and cozy, been there only twice and I'm addicted. Again, love it.
Asked for 2 lattes and got 2 very milky weak coffees. Disappointed as normally you get a nice latte from Camfields. The paper cups are a let down too the lids have a bigger hole when drinking it goes everywhere. Went in the bin today and not cheap either.
This was our first visit to The Half Moon and we already can’t wait to return! The place has a really warm and welcoming feel to it, with super friendly staff and regulars too.
The service was excellent and the food was soooo good! I went with a personal favourite, mince and dumplings and it was delicious. The portion was huge (mine was a small and I still struggled to finish), the dumpling was cooked to perfection and the mince full of flavour. The dessert menu had a real old school feel to it, so we of course had to make some room. I opted for the ginger sponge and custard and just wow, total comfort in a bowl!
Well worth giving these guys a visit.
Ordered fish bites and chips. Chips ok .Fish bites were terrible . Tail ends of fish. No chunks of fish just thin flakes. Paid £13.00 including delivery. Absolute waste of money. Very Disappointed.
Melton constable has a nice relaxed atmosphere and is our regular when visiting the area.
The pub has a great menu and a good selection of ales.
Bonus is that they welcome dogs our side of meal times, so a perfect spot after a walk with the dog in the dunes.
Excelente visita tan amable, incluyendo para los perros. El helado era delicioso, el servicio era genial.
Se necesitará un viaje de regreso. Adecuado para familias gran parque
Lots of choices of cake, pastries , pasties , sausage rolls, breakfast options , tea, coffee , hot and cold food. I remember the day this place opened.
The only down side is that the place is not really disability friendly, it is very loud, crowded which can be overwhelming. May I suggest doing some quiet time for those who struggle with this. I'm sure you will still get frequent business!
