We went for dinner and it was the highlight of our holiday, from the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly. The chef came out to meet our dog and hand fed him chicken which was above and beyond. The food was brilliant and so tasty as well as huge portions. We had arrived late and the chef even rustled us up a starter of garlic prawns. We wish we lived nearer so we could go every week. 5 stars is not enough !

It was our wedding Anniversary today. Didn’t particularly have anything planned but went for a drive and called in on spec for Sunday Lunch today. Lunch was lovely, ample portion with huge Yorkshire pudding. Staff very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely setting it’s got loads of garden space (too cold today). Would recommend a visit.

Came here for Sunday lunch. And it did not disappoint. Fresh meat fresh vegetables and plenty of it. And the biggest Yorkie pudding I have ever seen. Could not eat it all. Very reasonably priced. Excellent food and excellent service. Could not fault it at all. Will definitely be back again.

As two couples travelling for the last month in our Motorhomes we’ve literally just finished the most beautiful Sunday lunch. I and my friend chose the pork. My wife had the lamb and our other female member had the trio of meats. We all absolutely loved the whole meal that we had. Very generous and extremely tasty. Nothing disappointed. Additional roasties clinched the meal deal!! Wine, ( we chose the Codici Red-superb choice) beers, liquors and coffee complete a very pleasant and Good value Sunday lunch. The lovely staff accommodated us with pleasantness and courtesy. Thank you very much for a lovely experience. We’ll spread the word and we hope to be back here soon.

Stayed 3 nights at the hotel. Breakfast one morning. It was a fantastic full English enough for the biggest appetetite. Had two evening meals. Great menu, great prices. The chef Paul, could not do enough for us. The chicken and mushroom pie was the best I have ever had. Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Paul is the most friendly chef I have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble. Will be back. Thanks guys.

Nice restaurant but food was overpriced. Had the salt and chilli chicken and chips for £14.95. Was slices of processed chicken in a sauce with twice as much undercooked veg than there was chicken. Chips were nice, but for the price, was a real rip off

Called in on a very cold, wet October day last year on our way home from a holiday in South West Scotland. We enjoyed a very welcome pot of tea with a delicious, complimentary, home-made shortbread biscuit in the shape of a ghost for Halloween. A lovely, dog friendly establishment. The staff are very friendly and professional. The price was extremely reasonable and the toilets are spotlessly clean. We would definitely call again on our way through Corbridge.

Literally the worst meal we have ever had! We have been here many times over the years and have always loved the atmosphere. As soon as we went in the lad said that there were five things missing off the menu, something about they had been so busy that they hadn't been able to get to the suppliers, should have known then! I ordered a cheeseburger with chips and onion rings, ny husband asked for the fish finger sandwich with coleslaw. They came, but with no coleslaw or onion rings. I pointed it out and was told there was no coleslaw, but he would cook me an onion ring. The burger was tiny, the bun it came in was stale and hard and the chips were cold. My husband said his sandwich looked like the stuff that you find in all the ice at the bottom of your freezer and tasted odd and I didn't want to say, but it looked raw and grey. The poor lads behind the bar looked like rabbits caught in the headlights cos they could tell we weren't happy, we just wanted to leave, so we paid and left and will not go back. It says online that they serve food all day, but a group of people came in and they were refused food an the place was not busy at all. Very strange way of conducting a business and a great pity.

Definitely one of the nicest eating and drinking experiences i have had for years! We had a table for 5 inside but close to both bar and beer garden so it was lovely and cool. The staff were young but so friendly and helpful making all of us feel very welcome. We had a few rounds of drinks and it was great value - nice to see soft drimks (blackcurrant & water) being priced so cheaply! We were politely told early that there may be a slight delay to our orders - not a problem and great because we were told about it in advance - so we had another round! We had skins, flatbreads and a few other light bites to start - they were great and huge portions, almost didn’t need the mains. The main courses were superb quality, burger, cod and the chicken fajitas were all amazing! And the total bill for 5 people was less than £100 - incredible value considering how much we ate, drank and how long we were in there for!Massive thanks again to all the staff for making the whole experience so enjoyable. Other pubs/reataurants should take note - this is how you get people back out into hosptality.

I am a local bloke and have known the Dyvels for 35 years so I was acutely disappointed yesterday when we popped in for a lunchtime meal. Just getting into the pub involved knocking on the door and the menu was typical wholesale pub food which can best be described as below average. My fish was dry, the chips overcooked (had they been reheated or just forgotten about?) and the service was haphazard. Another snag was that by sitting outdoors (it was a lovely day) we had to pay up front for each round drinks and for the meal separately - no tab allowed. I appreciate the difficulties around covid restrictions and 'runners' who do not pay for meals but this was too extreme. So I will go back to The Boathouse, like the Dyvels outdoor catering but, friendlier, better menu and food and yes, you run up a single tab.

Stumbled on this pub by accident and what a find, great seating area and seated grassed area, plenty of space. Everything was well organised in regard to Covid rules, the staff where pleasant, helpful and attentive. Being Sunday I opted for the chicken dinner….wow! a huge full chicken breast, stuffing, yorkshire pudding, mash, roasties, parsnip, five veg and most importantly a jug of gravy. My husband chose fish, chips and mushy peas……crispy batter and chunky homemade chips. Would highly recommend, we will be back

Went here with a few of my friends for drinks and I've never been so exasperated by the incompetence and rudeness of the staff. We had placed an order for drinks and after 30 minutes inquired about the delay; the waitress said she would ask. After 15 minutes the same waitress came over to take our order not realising that we still had not got our drinks from the 45 minutes prior. She went inside to find out what had happened and came back with a note pad and pen explaining that the order had been lost. She snapped at my friend for ordering too quickly and challenged my other friend for ordering something different, which was not true. She said she would make the drinks herself to ensure they would arrive quickly. 10 minutes later she came back into the garden and started taking other peoples orders. I waited another 10 minutes and decided to go to the bar to ask what was happening to our order. I could see them on the tray and was told they would be right out with them. I waited another 5 minutes and returned to the bar to cancel our order as our patience and enjoyment had waned. I explained to our waitress and the member of staff behind the bar that we had been waiting over an hour and even though they had poured the drinks, we wanted to leave. In response I was told that we hadn't been waiting an hour and she quickly checked the system that told her about the reordering time rather than our initial order over an hour earlier. I felt the tone they took was very rude and short in a situation where we, as the customer, had given them the benefit of the doubt several times. I have a theory that our waitress did not make the staff behind the bar aware of her mistake to avoid it looking poorly on her, resulting in our order being placed at the back of the queue again.I genuinely believe that this pub is better than the experience we had, but I will be going to The Angel Inn in future as it revived our night entirely from the awful encounter we had at The Dyvels

We did not book or advise we were coming, but the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Table service offered in their beer garden for both food and drink, and bearing in mind we got there at 6:40pm and the kitchen stopping food service at 7pm, the were still happy to accommodate our food requests. We sat for 20 minutes whilst a male member of staff walked around the beer garden cleaning tables and speaking to a table no more than two meters away. Anything but serve us. Eventsully a young lady came to the table to take an order. We asked for the food menus to be told they were no longer serving food. This was at 14:50pm. Their Facebook page sdvertises food till 15:00pm!We promptly left. I rang and spoke to the manager who apologised and offered vouchers for another visit. I turned it down as we will not ne visiting again. Every excuse about new staff needing training etc was presented. THE REALITY IS THAT THE MANAGER NEEDS TRAINING AND THEN THE STAFF AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE OPENING BACK UP. Pathetic excuse

Bad experience here on Sunday 9 May 2021. At the moment, COVID restrictions mean outdoor dining only. This pub has a lovely covered outdoor patio and we wanted to make sure we could get an evening meal under the current restrictions.I called at the pub at 1pm, and was told food was being served until 6.45pm. There was no option to book a table but I was told it would be unlikely to be full. We returned at 5pm and tables were free - perfect. The server took a drink order and asked us to choose a table on the patio. When she brought our drinks, I asked for the menu only to be told they had stopped serving food at 3pm — only two hours after I had been at the place to ask if they were open.As it was a Sunday at 5pm, the supermarkets were closed. With few places serving food because of the restrictions, we were left with no option but the Co-op.The server was apologetic and offered us crisps or peanuts (not exactly a substitute for an evening meal) but it was just a bad experience. We ended up paying for drinks for no real reason, and then were left without an option to eat.

We had a great lunch in the socially distanced garden area. Staff were excellent, food great value and good. However due to the high number of tables, it took a little time to get served, but this is due to the food being prepared as ordered, the food was very good and we enjoyed our meet up.So be prepared for a chat, this is not a fast food establishment but the taste is well worth the wait.

The staff were very polite , BUT the service was very slow : our starters arrived after a 40 minute wait ( NOT ACCEPTABLE ) IN THE CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES ) then the young waiter said our main course would not be long ???? Some further 45 minutes passed before he approached us to ask what we had ordered then a further 15 minutes later we received our order ( NOT GOOD AT ALL - BY ANY STANDARDS ) while we waited we witnessed another lady refuse her food after a long waiting time for it's arrival ? The manager needs to address these issues as it is not acceptable and not good buisness practice ! I know we are in difficult times but the staff and manager need to sort this out asap for the reputation of this lovely pub

I don't normally write reviews for food places, but I do check trip advisor before we go anywhere to confirm if the place should be avoided. So I'm writing this review in the hope that it may save some poor unsuspecting family from food misery. I ordered mince and dumplings Which turned out to be bland/tasteless plain mince with two dumplings plonked on top. Dry flavourless mash. Over cooked carrots and rubbery cabbage. I ate half as I was hungry but as you can see from the picture it was grim. My wife's meal was a similar tasteless affair. The kids meals were sausage, nuggets or a beef burger with fries. One of ours had nuggets which were reasonable, our other had sausage. Only he got one plain sausage n one chorizo sausage. Avoid.

Again, the food was served within 15 mins. I had cod, chips & mushy peas. My better half had a roast pork dinner. It was one of the best fish & chips I've ever eaten. Seriously. Delicious. Likewise the pork dinner was scrumptious according to my wife. It looked it. Good choice of ales/lager including Birra Moretti & Stella. Two nice pints and attentive service. Dog friendly. We stopped off for a drink after a walk along the river. We went along with the Covid procedure which meant giving contact details and were directed to the beer garden. We were told to take a table and someone would come out to serve us as they were not taking orders at the bar.It wasn’t too busy - at least half the tables were free. I looked around and apart from one young couple, everyone had drinks so I didn’t expect to wait long. The couple were served their drinks and we waited for our order to be taken. We waited and waited and after 15-20 minutes decided to give it a miss. As we left, two staff were standing at the bar chatting and not doing much else. We were the only mixed race group in the pub and I wondered if that had been a factor, but more than likely it was just terrible service from badly trained staff. We stopped off at a nice pub at Riding Mill instead and despite also having Covid processes, the service was great and we enjoyed a drink in their beer garden.

We arrived after leaving the train station, as it is nearby. We thought it was a restaurant/bar (because it is) but it felt like we had walked into someone’s private chambers unannounced!I would have felt more welcome walking into someone’s private chambers!! We walked through the door and were spoken to as though we had no idea what has been going on in the current climate (as a doctor and a teacher) and were ordered to wait where we were as though we are idiots - yes we understand, but no need to condemn us for walking into a pub and moving away from the front door to let the couple behind us and in.The poor young girl who tried to seat us was too embarrassed to offer us one of the many free tables in the garden without asking the boss(?). There was an older lady who spoke to staff and customers as if we were dogs.We were then told by the apparent boss that we needed to sit away from the sun because there were no seats and we hadn’t booked... this was the key - we were told numerous times we hadn’t booked, as if we arrived on a plane without a passport. It is an anxious time for everyone - granted. However, some respect as a paying customer does not go a miss. Businesses will probably still continue to struggle, and good customer service will be crucial to bringing people back. It’s a lovely pub but we probably won’t return.

Dined here for s Sunday roast, was disappointed by the starters of crispy mushrooms (quite tasty but not much to do other than for them so ....), lacked finesse though and were piled onto a large dish of thrown together salad. The leek and potato soup was awful, tasted like it had been made with a certain powdered potato mix and I am not sure any leeks were harmed in the making of it as all I could detect was pepper! Needless to say, didn’t digest and asked for it to be taken off the bill. It would have been nice if someone had actually taken the time to apologise properly! Hey ho.Roast was nice, lots of pork, a bit overcooked but quite tasty. Lots of veg which for the most part had been cooked fairly well although some more ‘green’ would have been nice. We had one stem of tender stem broccoli each. Yorkshire pudding tasted home made but I would have preferred for it not to have been swimming in gravy. Would maybe dine here again if in Corbridge but would probably try other places first. Agree with last reviewer re the bar staff chit chatting, they did seem to spend a lot of time congregating behind the bar discussing! To add insult to injury the decor was okay but the furnishings was like something out of my last school canteen! Formica tables and very uncomfortable chairs which would not have looked out of place in the assembly hall!

Drinks eventually served, but not until the bar staff had finished their conversation between themselves BTW sorry to have been at the bar interrupting your night! Two staff with very bad attitude -both looked similar (possible twins/sisters?) only way to distinguish-one slightly ruder than the other. Later 'Manager' arrived and possibly the rudest individual running a pub in UK- I observed her barking at a group of people celebrating a retirement - they were in the wrong part of the pub apparently - beggars belief - Literately the rudest staff ever - there are limited pubs in Corbridge - so probably that's how they survive, but staff are a disgrace - the absolute worst absolute disgrace, overpriced -fire the rude staff and get people with basic manners

Cheapish and cheerful. Good range of real ales. Basic tasty pub grub and you'll not be hungry for a while afterwards. Fab thick homemade chips.

Very nice food and friendly staff. Great choice of food including vegetarian and vegan options. The sweet potato lasagne was delicious. Real ales on draft and good gin selection. Dogs made welcome and acknowledged with a little treat of chicken, there is also a doggie menu too. Plenty of room and comfortable seating. Clean and definitely somewhere to call in to again.

We had been on a weeks holiday and had been to many of the restaurants in the village so decided to try the dyvells. Husband got black pudding stack which was amazing friend got pate which was lovely. We all had Sunday roast beef but we were slightly disappointed as beef was shredded like pulled pork. Big slices please but apart from that it was lovely and would go back

Been here around 4 times and love it. Arrived here over the Bank holiday weekend and had a lovely light lunch. We had ham, prawn and beef sanwiches with chips and coleslaw on the side. Lovely. 2 rounds of soft drinks and it cost around £40 for the 4 of us. We opted to sit in as it was too hot outside . No problem parking , staff were lovely and nothing was too much bother. They have dog treats too! Will be back ,soon .

Me and my family have just ate at this pub and sadly to say for it been such a nice place the food was not good, don’t know how you can go wrong with Sunday lunch but they did , you could tell chicken had been frozen and was tough mash has a funny taste and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt.. we asked for water with ice and lemon and got 3 glasses put on the table and bottle of warm water to serve ourself .. not good

Why does a pub shut at 10pm on the evening of the festival held next door? We walked to the Angel and enjoyed a couple of drinks there instead? What a wasted opportunity. Was there a good reason for this?

A group of 15 mature couples visited this venue having booked previously. The young lady on the bar was very friendly and obliging, with an excellent sense of humour. Quickly served and shown to our seats, we were soon tucking in to ample plates of well cooked food. Having heard of the quantity being served I had decided to forgo the starters, but they looked lovely, nothing went back to the kitchen! For my main course I had opted for a very, very rare steak - it was cooked to perfection. So tender and tasty, a credit to both the butcher and the chef! For a sweet I had a delicious lemon cheesecake, luscious! An excellent bottle of Rioja, a 2015 Crianza at a very reasonable price. I have not forgotten the young lady who was in charge of the dining room who was again very pleasant, well organised and attentive. The whole evening was a real delight, thank you to everyone who gave us a special evening.

Has the potential to be an amazing pub but is in need for a few tweaks. Waited over an hour for food at this point we had to cancel our starters due to them not being able to cook more than 1 table at once. Staff were pleasant but dress code could be worn due to it being hard to differentiate staff and general public. Has the added bonus of a beer garden where you can take your dog but a general tidy would not go a miss. Overall food was average but had to return steak due to its texture being rubbery.

Visited mid evening in May, short walk just outside Corbridge and just by the railway station. Really good food, service a bit slow, but we had time to spare so not an issue. Country pub in a rustic setting. Recommended.

We stayed overnight at this lovely pub. We went to visit the old Roman town of Corbridge. Fantastic. We had a beautiful light bright comfortable room. The hotel was just out of the main town. We had di nner in the evening. Both meals were perfect. Cooked beautifully. At very reasonable prices. Breakfast next morning was just as good lots of choice too. Everyone was so friendly. We loved the bar too. Perfect stopover on our Hadrians wall trip.

Have now visited twice for a meal and on both occasions the meal was excellent and also reasonably priced with a choice from an extensive menu catering for most tastes and a particularly good selection of vegetarian dishes when we ate there on a weekday evening. Sunday lunch was also good with a choice of roasts and another separate menu. Surroundings comfortable and service efficient. Pleasant outdoor area for al fresco dining when weather permits. It is a Pub so busy at times and some tables are within the bar area, some are in a designated dining area.

After hearing nothing but good reviews about this pub we though we would give it a try, we had the table booked for 2pm as it was busy we didn’t mind the wait, eventually we got are table, at this point the pub went quiet and we sat for 20 mins before anyone even came and took our orders. The starters came personally I had no complaints about my prawn cocktail, but other family members got the black pudding stack and the bacon was very fatty. We were then waiting 45 minutes for our mains to come out, my dinner looked like they had just gave me the scraps of what they didn’t use that day with half a Yorkshire pudding. My mother got the trio of Yorkshire puddings and again only got half a Yorkshire pudding. We all pretty much left a full plate. As we approached the bar to pay our bill, none of the staff would make eye contact, we didn’t even get asked if the food was alright. I don’t criticise a lot as I work in the industry and understand it can be hard but the staff could of told us they were running short and we would of picked somthing else. All together we were in the 2 and half hours

Popped in today for lunch as we've not been in for ages, I think the place has changed hands again since or last visit as a few things have changed. The most noticeable being the dirty table cloths , we changed table twice before we found one that wasn't what we would call "Dirty"

I visited today with my ealderly parents, it was busy but no indication of a long wait when we ordered food. I don’t think they were expecting it to be busy as there seemed to be only one members of staff front of house. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive, which I must say was nice, however no apologies for it being late and we had to ask when it would be ready. The table cloths were grubby and staff seemed to be over worked the poor girl behind the bar was doing three different jobs, not her fault.

With two friends we spent lunchtime at the Dyvels and what a treat. We arrived 20 minutes early and the chef let us in which was a nice touch. We discussed the menu which was full of quantity and quality. I had the all day breakfast while my friends had the Whitby prawns excellent. The meals were delivered quickly by a very efficient staff. The prices were neither expensive nor cheap but were good value for money. The ambience was excellent and I am looking for a reason to go back.

The Sunday lunch here was very good. Choice of roasts and everything was home cooked. Also had the choice of smaller or larger portions. Everyone in our small group chose something different and all meals arrived together and were hot when presented. Good selection of deserts too for those who can manage one! It is a small place so probably better to book but they serve til 4 pm. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Lucky to even get one star, food was okay but oh my lord the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The attitude of the middle aged lady was appalling (maybe allison) Thought id bring it to the attention of management. If she spent time caring about us and our experience rather than talking about her self all night then maybe it would be better. 20 mins before she stopped her conversation with staff then 10 mins to take our order after slagging off her colleagues so unprofessional. Will not be back.

I visited in November 2018 for lunch with family. This was my first visit. We did visit in a sunday lunchtime so was expecting it to be busy, but the service was excruciatingly slow. It took almost 45 minutes for the waiter to come and take our order. I ordered steak pie which was nice enough but rather heavy and stodgy. It was served with mashed potatoes which were full of lumps. Another in my party ordered fish and chips but the batter was greasy and inedible. The potato skins, however were absolutely delicious, Reasonable food, poor service.

Large chain, standard menu offerings, busy, noisy setting, but good sea views, nice outside area. Food came quickly once managed to order at the busy bar. Burger sauce was the best item. Small burger Pattie, creamy coleslaw, hubby had monkfish scampi, bit over battered. Both sets of chips under cooked, when we were asked how our meal was, our reply was just received with blank stare and no response before waiter cleared our plates and left! Buffet breakfast the following morning as we expected! Basic sausages, overcooked black pudding, the bacon, mushrooms and hash browns ok, had run out of baked beans, but at least you could order different eggs if didn’t fancy fried.

It was ok but nothing to push the boat out for. My daughter wanted chicken tikka panini but apparently had no tikka, I asked for a sandwich on brown bread cake but they had no brown bread cakes left. Really?? And this was only just after noon. Nothing special about the ham sandwich which all in all tasted bland. The dog ate most of it.
