Great food, loved the steak and ale pie and Alex loved the lasagne which came perfectly presented with garlic bread and salad although the sweetcorn wasn't welcome 😄 but that's just her.

Tasty food, lovely staff and amazing location next to the lake!

Advertised as having an outdoor play area but they don't as it's been taken down so if you have a child over 5 the place isn't child friendly now! Very disappointed

Had birthday meal here last night and the service and food was fantastic! Grace and Katrina were our servers and they were so polite and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Come here every week well worth the money for all you can eat buffet loads of options aswel as full English and kids eat free plus free play area would highly recommend 100%

Had breakfast today with the kids good quality breakfast plenty to choose from. Very polite and friendly staff I spoke with Lois, Jenni and Madeline great service throughout my visit.

Waited 40 mins for main course. I ordered a margarita pizza but my request for mushrooms on was refused. Pizza cost about £12 and it was obviously a cheap 99p frozen pizza. Waited 35mins for desserts that were also disappointing. Rhubarb and custard sundae was a big bowl of slop. I have eaten here about 10 times over the last 5 years and apart from about 2 occasions, l have been very disappointed and vowed not to go back, but l keep hoping things will improve. This time is definitely the last time, the service is shocking and the chef puts the serving staff in an awful situation as they have to deal with all the fed up customers. Absolutely awful, irritating experience and not to be repeated!

We did the feed a family for £15. This was excellent value, had plenty of choice and the meals arrived hot and tasted lovely. The staff were brilliant and Sian L was so helpful.

Came in today, great service great food Cameron went above and beyond to help, he is a real asset to cookhouse pub.

The Manager working on the 2nd April and today had a very condescending attitude. Spoilt the day as I took my mother out for a birthday lunch. Don't think we will going again or revisiting

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Stayed at the Premier Inn next door and went here for food as it was close by. The waitress who served us was lovely and can’t be faulted but we ordered a £12.00 ‘build your own’ pizza and was applauded to find out it was a Goodfellas FROZEN PIZZA which can be bought from Sainsburys for £1.50! A shocking rip off experience and to have such a high price with misleading quality is incredibly poor and dishonest. I’m sure they will not care as the next batch of Premier Inn customers will be in next week for them to pull the same trick on!

I booked for 6 and turned up as a party of 9, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food was tasty, reasonably priced and came out quickly. Kids enjoyed the play area

Only called in for a drink but it's a lovely little place and farely busy so we'll worth a future visit I think.

My sister and I had Sirloin steak. The meal was really nice and well priced. Special thanks to Rhys for looking after us so well. He was engaging and really helpful, just the right amount of attentiveness to check we were happy. He is a credit to the team.

About the worst carvery I've ever had .... entirely tasteless. My husband ordered fish and chips which was dumped down in front of him with no cutlery, no salt/pepper/vinegar ... and no instruction as to where they might be. I went looking for a member of staff for help and because there was nobody about i had to stand in a queue at the bar to find out where the cutlery was. When I went to pick some up there were only forks so it took a while to get a knife. We chuckled about it but won't be back ... would have been less effort and better food if I'd cooked at home.

Came for a family day out. The staff were lovely. The food was reasonably priced abs delicious! Love how they have a good menu for kids. As well as the play area for the kids was spot on. Very nice touch that we could eat and let them play as we could see the whole play area. The swans and ducks are surprisingly friendly too! Will definitely be back.

This restuarant is in a prime location facing the QE2 Lake which has an excellent circular woodland footpath perfect for building up an appetitie ready for a meal. Since my last visit they have removed the little used outside childrens play area and have expanded the outside seating ready for the sunny weather to arrive. This area is also suitable for customers with dogs!! The seating inside is good and well laid out, there is also a free soft play area for smaller children and premier football on TV at the other end of the restaurant for the bigger children. There is a fairly good selection of food and drink on the menu which is reasonably priced especially if you subscribe to the Cookhouse & Pub member scheme (we got 40% of the price of all main meals). I would say that the food is good rather than exceptional but is reasonable value for money. Table service is hit and miss its therefore best if you order yourself at the bar, I found all the staff both friendly and helpful. All in all its worth a visit especially if you combine the meal with a walk around the lake (takes around an hour) or a visit to the Woodhorn Colliery Museum at the other end of the lake (20 mintues there and back).

Kids build your own wrap came without wrap. Mine and wife's meals luke warm at best.

Me and my friend went for tea this evening and it’s safe to say we will not be back AGAIN. I have never felt so uncomfortable and so unwelcome in a pub in all my life. The staff are so unfriendly and unapproachable and we were made to feel like an inconvience the whole time we were there. When we went to the bar to order our food I asked for a steak with chips but the chunky kind of chips instead on skin on fries it actually does say in the menu you can have either or. The memeber of staff on the bar very abruptly said we only do 1 kind of chips and I said okay sorry that’s fine can I have a steak with peppercorn sauce they didn’t have any and I said oh okay I’ll have to choose something else when I came back he was again very abrupt and made me feel like an inconvience and I asked for another glass of Prosecco and he went you can but that’s the last of it mind I went oh dear your doing good tonight in a light and humerous way he snapped and said well we don’t get stock in till Tuesday so yeah fun night ahead. Staff avoided our table and were all stood at the bar talking and actually arguing amongst themselves about who was doing what and who was taking food out. When our food came it was okay not the best but fine, we were at the pub for 3 hours and not one member of staff came to see if we were okay, if we were enjoying our food and nobody came to take our plates away when we were done, like I say we were there for over 3 hours and the plates were still lying there when we left we were completely avoided. Since we were such an inconvience in this pub we will save the trouble and NOT RETURN. Horrible staff and horrible atmosphere not worth going at all.

Always had lovely breakfast here staying next door at the Premier Inn. Had evening meal yesterday and have to say our server Grace she was exceptional very helpful and friendly . Well worth a visit if your in the area

Excellent atomosphere, exceedingly great staff, very friendly and welcoming. Food is lovely, my 5 year old loves coming and going on the soft play. Breakfast is delicious, well worth the money, can eat as much as you want. Staff members Rhys & Jenni are brilliant! Lovely food today at my nephews 1st birthday, well catered for as we were a party of 20. Cameron was brilliant along with his staff.

One of the worst experiences . Waiting to be seated 30 min , after I was directed to the bar and specified that I will like to eat they said that I can seat where I want and someone will take my order . Everyone was served around me for over 1h and nobody ask if I want to order some food . Breakfast in the morning is 3 items . They say that the breakfast is served at 6.30 but actually is starting at 7-7.15 . The internet in this hotel is less that 2mbps and they ask for £5/day for the same speed for something which they call “ Ultimate WiFi “ with a speed of 2-3mbps . Fresh air you get only through the air con , a strong smell of weed is coming from few room . I will avoid this place. What a joke is this hotel. I will avoid

Went today 22/01/25 for lunch with my husband. Went in and sat down. Waiting for someone to come and take our order. Member of staff walked past us several times and never came. Another couple came in and she took their order straight away. We walked out. It’s a shame because the food is nice but the front of house staff need more training.

Love the breakfast here but have been in a few times where only 1 member staff is there to serve, clear and cook

Excellent customer service from Ayona the waitress. She suggested onion rings as a side dish which went well with what we'd ordered. The food came fast, was nicely cooked, hot and well presented. There was a good atmosphere in the restaurant, we were nicely spaced out inside so not too close to other people, which was nice.

The food is delicious, the service is fantastic, and the place itself is clean, warm, and friendly. If you specifically want a carvery then aim for no later than 2 - 2.30pm (we got there at 3pm once to find they'd ran out 10 minutes earlier), if you just want a nice meal then we haven't had a bad meal there ever! *** Original review *** The wait for food is far too long, and they are not giving 50% discount on soft drinks despite being part of the Government scheme

Fantastic meal on Christmas day, food was brilliant, we did have to wait for starters but for how busy you's where I'm not surprised for the waiting. Our server grace is a little star and the chef behind the carvery is so polite and always had a smile on his face. Thank you so much guys for such an amazing time and we'll definitely be booking next year

Had Christmas dinner on Christmas day and the food was amazing, the place was packed but we were well looked after. The young lady who looked after us and seemed to be looking after everyone was very friendly and attentive to the customers needs. Her name was Charlotte, at one point I heard her reassure a customer (an elderley lady) that she would take her coat and hang it in the staff room and return it when she had finished her meal. I'd honestly say our day was made all the better by her professional yet very friendly manner. Thanks, definitely be coming back soon.

Group of 17 charity group had xmas lunch, on December 4th, It was a fantastic afternoon. Staff , brilliant. Food lovely, served hot and all at the same time. Thanks especially to Cameron and Grace,. From us all thanks. Jim douglass

Highly recommend. Was looking for a good pie and have been coming here ever since. Summer outside with a cold beer. Is perfect. Amazing carvery or breakfasts. It is always worth the trip and do recommend the added entertainment with ducks and swans walking about.

I absolutely love and recommend Woodhorn Grange for food and drink. It's cheap and cheerful plus the food is good and the staff are super friendly.

The only way I could do that was if you wanted me too I can just do the other way and you can just come over here and get me if you’re not feeling good I.

The Sunday lunch carvery was the best we'd ever had, so tasty and very enjoyable and worth the price £11.49 The staff are really lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Decided to use the restaurant attached to the premier inn and had some great food. Well cooked and good value for money. Nice, quiet atmosphere. The table service was excellent. Thank you Grace for a really enjoyable experience.

Food was hot and fresh. They always brought hot food out to replace what was taken. We could not fault a thing. 10/10 for all 4 of us.

After a 300 mile journey all in 1 morning we stopped for early lunch. Very good service, food was tasty. All the staff were friendly.

Food wasn't the best & service was so slow I had to keep asking if it has gone through. Then after having the mail course I had to ask twice for the dessert . Not good server wass more interested in talking to her friends that were in for a meal.

We were asked to pay before we had a chance to choose what we wanted! Run out of clean mugs and cutlery so we had to wait for them before we could get our buffet breakfast. When we got there there was no black pudding, mushrooms or fried eggs left. As it was nearing the end of breakfast the trays were not replenished. At the end of breakfast at 10.30 the staff were like vultures attacking the food that was left! They weren't even discreet, they just stood there tucking in! Would not return or recommend 😞

This is an understaffed, under-resourced chain pub. The staff, although very pleasant, are poorly managed and deployed. Long waits to be served, particularly at the bar, IT failures, and power cuts just add to the amateur nature of the place. Running out of brandy, pink gin and the wine we wanted was unbelievable, the lack of fruit and mint for the cocktails advertised was farcical. You can have lime though.

We are staying next door and have popped in for drinks and also for an evening meal. Both times the staff have been lovely and very helpful. We'd specifically like to give a huge thank you to Chloe who was serving us tonight who was very friendly and professional especially throughout a powercut issue. The food was really nice and there was a large selection to choose from.

Have not long returned from a visit to this pub/restaurant. Everything that I would like to say is nothing but compliments. On arrival was welcomed by a lovely lad, manager was very helpful and accommodating. Our waitress Josie K could not do enough to help and make us feel extremely welcome, big thank you. We will return the next time we are up in the are.

Food took ages to arrive,chips were dry and tasteless, my daughters burger was disgusting really dry and in a hard bun,when mentioned this to the woman behind the till said"nothing we can do about it" infact her face was like a wet weekend,don't think we will be returning anytime soon

Really good value and they cater for vegans well. The burger with added "fakon" was really excellent and so was the crumble. Grace , who served us, was super helpful and pleasant. Overall great experience.

Great lunch... our large group had a range of mobility needs, and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space with lots of parking. The staff were amazing, helpful and considerate, the service was prompt and faultless. Jess in particular looked after us brilliantly, thank you

Nice sunday lunch , but outside area needs good tidy up , the closed play area full of weeds and bird feathers , not nice looking out at that , but good food good service.

Been for meal ordered fish and chips for partner and 7oz gammon for myself... gammon came was a 5oz sent it back.partener had finished his meal.food came back I was in a conversation with partner that he had finished his and server interrupting saying do i still want mine!!..RUDE..sent it back and said i wanted a refund..not dealing with bad attitude never going back..not even an apology for wait or nothing!!

We have stayed at the Premier and eaten at the Cookhouse several times. This time we didn’t have the breakfast as we went out and met family for a breakfast but know from previous visits breakfast is very good. The weather was hot and before dinner we sat outside with some drinks overlooking the lake, which was very pleasant, plenty of tables available. The only downside ( which is why I gave four stars instead of five) was the waiting time to be served drinks at the bar, I think there could have been another member of staff on given that everyone unsurprisingly wanted drinks. We had two evening meals, three of us the first night, one of scampi, peas and chips and two beef lasagnas with accompaniments, then the second night had a selection of snacky things with a sharing plate and salad, and that was very good, it certainly filled us up, no complaints about portion sizes! The wine was lovely, I had the Jam Shed Chardonnay which I enjoyed. Our server Katrina was very pleasant and looked after us very well especially considering how busy it was on a Friday night, she flew about seeing to everyone and clearing tables etc but we were always able to catch her eye to order anything else. I have no hesitation in recommending the place, especially in the summer when the outdoor area comes into it’s own!

We have made Woodhorn Grange 1 of our regular dining experiences. Yesterday we went with family who had never been before. 2 couple dining for under £12 with a good choice of meals is real value plus a bottle of Pinot at around £14.00 is in this day and age real value for money. Importantly the venue is welcoming and clean. Lots of free parking and a good choice of drinks at the bar. But all made better by excellent, attentive and friendly staff. It’s difficult to say 1 is better than the other but if you are served by Sian you will have the best of service.

Had both breakfast and dinner here as part of deal with Premier Inn. Staying for 3 nights had planned different meals each night-however due to the menus changing the day after we left, both second and third nights did not have the full range available, including a couple of different meals we wanted. Apart from that, the food was very good, and the staff were brilliant - we were served by both Charlotte and Chloe - super friendly staff.

We come here quite regularly for a family meal & there’s a small soft play area for the kids that they love. You can also sit & eat in that area so can keep an eye on them. Had great service from our waitress today Chloe. Thankyou

Don't bother! Nice enough staff, but awful food and drink. The tea and coffee are UNDRINKABLE, all 4 of the party left our drinks unfinished. Shocking. Will not be coming back!

I was staying at the hotel next door so decided to have lunch here. Food was good as always. Brilliant service by multiple staff, especially Lois and Rhys.

Carvery had no flavour, very bland, and very little to choose from the dessert menu. Seemingly, they were changing it. Staff were very friendly but food a big let down.

This used to be a very nice place, but in recent years, service has become slow, the menu never seems to change, and the prices are pretty high. On the plus side, the staff are friendly.

Went for breakfast this morning, was ok no pastries or poached eggs as advertised on menu. The staff wasn't friendly and not very helpful. Wasn't greeted on arrival and walked past two member of staff upon leaving neither said goodbye. Would be reluctant to return because of the staffing issues we faced.

The restaurant is dark and uninviting. The floors and tables were extremely filthy. The food was tasteless and expensive! We will never set foot in this place again!

Love going here with my family. Never had a bad meal or experience. Nice to sit outside whenever we get the weather. Can't beat the view.

Stayed through a work booking. Evening meal was a little disappointing, I uttered the words to myself that I was glad I didn't pay 13 quid for that burger. Breakfast was much better and served by Jenni who was very helpful indeed. Room staff left me a message which I had to chuckle at, wishing me a pleasant stay with the pictoresque location which in my room was gas tanks, a service road and the main road beyond but thanks all the same, maybe the views of the lake on the opposite side are rather more picturesque!

Rhys absolutely amazing, very very nice man. Kept us in a very nice conversation, served us really nice food. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Rhys. Lovely lad. Definitely brings a smile and the right vibe to this place definitely recommend coming here!

I’ve been here for breakfast once and also lunch once. It was ideal for us as we had a toddler and there was a soft play area for her. Food is actually not bad at all. Plenty of variety and nice atmosphere . Staff are very friendly and helpful.

As usual, we enjoyed our meal. Pleasant surroundings with a lovely view over the lake and a chance to see the swans up close. Our waitress, Grace was wonderful, pleasant to talk to.Thank you Grace.
