This place is a rip off!! Plus we would never of eaten here if we seen the state of the skirtenboards and the plugs which were covered in filth beforehand. The staff weren’t friendly. We had scones which came warm with never having been asked if we wanted them hot or cold! Plus to get them served on paper plates for a cafe is shocking!! For 3 scones, a slice of rocky road that was dry, 2 cappuccinos, 1 tea and a Diet Coke came to £23. I would never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone. I’m amazed health and safety haven’t closed this place before now.

Decided to give this cafe a try oh my I wish I had of went to the toilet first before ordering the food. The skirting boards were black I wondered was it damp or filth I took a paper hand towel put some hand soap on it wasn't damp it was muck. I had previously ordered jacket Potatoe with fresh crab the dish came with side salad the cucumber wasn't sliced it was chunks never have I had this any where I have been. The Jacket Potatoe was well overcooked very dry inside & cold. Needles to say I left my meal what cost me £9.99 the staff passed & looked at my plate no-one asked how was my meal. I would definitely not recommend this place. It needs a good deep clean.

Disgusting, had a cheese toastie the cook did mine and another on the same grill plate no gloves using his hands ,touching both . Cheap supermarket bread. This place is a greasy spoon time cafe charging the same price as the quality cafes . Won't ever go there again . Also the door slams really really loudly every time some one enters or leaves it makes you jump out of your skin . The waitress was wearing a dirty Gregg's top ?? Higene not a priority to her .I would give zero stars if possible.

Was out in the town for a trip out with my family and so a nice looking little cafe so we decided to give it a go When we got In thier the staff were so unhappy and made it very obvious they didn't want to be there. They acted and spoke like taking your order was a chore and that they didn't want to do it. Ordered some soft drinks and a tea took them longer to send out the drinks then it did to send out the food which would be okay if they had even sent out the correct drinks The vegetable soup was more like colored water, cold water at that, the crab sandwich was disgusting and everything else came out cold. When trying to metion it they just walk away without a care in the world Would not recommend it to anyone

Although the cafe was quite busy, we were served quickly. I was surprised when the waitress didn't understand the concept of rare roast beef - I had to ask whether the meat was red or brown. She was also confused to be asked whether there was a choice of bread - eg brown or granary. But then I didn't know at that time that what I thought were listed as sandwiches, turned out to be white rolls. No problem, as they were nice enough. I had roast pork in my roll, which was warm and tasty, with a splash of gravy. It was served with the most fabulous chips - hot and crispy. There was also a salad garnish, sprinkled with a tasty dressing. We had to wait a long time for our food, but itcwas worth it in the end.

Worst cooked breakfast I've had in a long time. I hate writing bad reviews but it had to be done. Our usual local was closed for the day so took a chance on a breakfast here, we live locally so should've known better. We visited on a Saturday late morning, the place had a few tables filled. Noticing the atmosphere as we took our seats, we were only served by staff 15 minutes after seating (perhaps two people running the show at this point so understandable). When approached we ordered two 10 item breakfasts, no Hash browns available therefore we substituted for beans and black pudding. I feel a charge of £1.79 for two slices of toast with a breakfast is strange, usually would come included. However we ordered, in the meantime a table had left before getting their food as they had waited 40 minutes for their breakfast. Another table of 2 came in after we ordered, and somehow managed to get their food before us? We were agitated by this point, having only just received our drinks and then waited longer than half an hour for food. Around 40 mins we got our breakfasts, and I must say it wasn't worth the wait. The sausages were the worst sausages I've ever eaten (please invest in decent local produce when you're called 'Taste of Northumbria'; there's a local Butcher literally 30 seconds from the cafe). There were 3 whole mushrooms that must've been around for a few days as they were full of oil and didn't taste remotely like a mushroom. Black pudding wasn't cooked, likewise with the bacon. The eggs were the nicest part, but if you can't cook eggs in a cafe, there's something seriously wrong. I really wouldn't have minded the wait had it been decent produce and cooked well. Also, I understand establishments being short staffed, but I found the whole thing visit incredibly underwhelming. Please change your name from Taste of Northumbria as this is so far removed from the title.

Oredered a cappuccino and Diet Pepsi which took 20 minutes to arrive. Cappuccino tasted like cheap weak coffee, with hot milk and no froth. Clearly no idea how to make this variant. While we waited another party of 4 cancelled their order and left saying they'd waited half an hour. Another lady paid for an extra shot of expresso as hers was tasteless. She returned saying after it was added it was still awful. Will not be returning.

All round decent. Few of the chips were green. Chicken didn’t feel right (not cooked right?) but the rest of the family found there’s alright so it may of been a one off for me. Took about 5 minutes for drinks then 10 minutes later food came.

Poor. Saturday morning went for breakfast as our usual place was closed for the day. We sat and waited for 15 minutes before they took our order, only one poor lad doing table service, ordered 2 full 10 item breakfasts to be told there was no hash browns available but we could have something else, both got black pudding each and I also ordered toast and our drinks. We then noticed another couple leaving abruptly complaining that the food had taken too long to arrive. Food arrived about 20-25 minutes later for us, I had to remind him that I ordered toast so that arrived shortly after. Toast was burnt, sausages weren't good, bacon and black pudding under cooked, only 3 mushrooms on our plates and they had a very greasy bad taste to them. Eggs and beans were fine. All in all not great. £27 for a sore stomach.

What can I say, this place needs to step up the game a bit. I asked for a coffee and a tea and received a coffee and a water. Sorted that and received my meal, chips are disgusting hollow fat filled frozen husks. Sausages were ok as was the fried eggs. Asked for ketchup and was given brown sauce??? Called here for breakfast with 3 others, breakfast was just ok, expensive for the cheap ingredients used, no toast included with any of the full breakfasts that was extra, everywhere else I've been it has been included in the price and no black pudding included with the large breakfast. Tea was extra and had one measly weak tea bag in a large pot for 2 people. I have been in many cafes that offer a much better breakfast for alot less money, wouldn't go here again, and certainly wouldn't recommend it.I am a breakfast chef myself and this is a Rip off price for very poor quality food. And I can assure you this is not the "taste of northumbria" thank god, there are far better offerings in Berwick than this tourist trap!

Myself and my husband went to this cafe on Saturday morning 9th September, it was our first visit and it will be our last, we went for breakfast, it was around 10.30 am, the waitress was quick to offer us menus, we decided on what we would like, my husband wanted the 10 item breakfast, I decided on scrambled egg on toast. One coffee and one tea, our order was taken and we sat for 45 minutes to be served our drinks closely followed with our breakfast then the cutlery, the 10 item breakfast was disgusting, the bacon was over done and greesy, the mushrooms were dried out and shrivelled up, the two eggs were hard fried after asking for soft eggs and the hash browns were hard all reheated, not to mention the tomato, it was freshly poured out of a tin. It was disgusting, can't understand why we waited so long for such a disgusting meal, my toast was the best out of the breakfast, scrambled egg was passable, big pot of tea with one tea bag, will never set foot back in this place again. We should have left before the food arrived, we are not like that so we sat & waited, but never again.

Couldn't fault the food, very tasty. The staff on the other hand seemed to be very nervous and on edge. Not their fault, I put it down to lack of training. I did overhear on another table that the waitress wasn't sure which dish was a gluten free one when she served it - not good if you have dietary requirements! It seemed very steep for what we got, water was about £1.75 and I'm pretty sure it was tepid tap water no ice. Also, I'm nitpicking here, but perhaps train your staff to inform customers of hot metal buckets that the chips come in! I was prepared but my companion wasn't and I imagine some people wouldn't be either.

Overall we had a nice lunch. The service was good and the food appeared in a reasonable time. My wife and son enjoyed their meals. My daughter wasn't too keen on the ham in her toasted sandwich, she thought that it was cheap processed ham, I was also underwhelmed by the poor quality sausage in my breakfast. Using better quality ingredients would have transformed the meal significantly, probably even a 5⭐ rating.

We were wandering about Berwick centre pondering what we fancied when the wife saw their board and suggested it. The beef sandwich clinched it for me. Sadly it wasn't ready so I ordered the homemade lasagne. The wife had pork sandwich and the bairn had a bowl of chips. I wasn't expecting the portion size to be as big as it was and the little salad that came with it has a very nice dressing. Overall quality quantity and price were great and will definitely go back. If your stuck for choice in place full of it, I suggest you give it a go.

Visited Berwick today and fancied a breakfast and cuppa. We thought we'd try the Taste of Northumberland and ended up feeling very disappointed. First impressions was dark, dated and dusty. The toilet was not fit for use, suffering a major leak which has soaked into the thick mat which squelched under foot. The flooring has delaminated due to being soaked and I was glad I had decent footwear on! My wife had placed our order by the time I returned to the table otherwise we'd have left at that point. The two cooked breakfasts arrived on cold plates and the tinned tomatoes and scrambled eggs were stone cold. The sausage was cheap but edible. The staff were friendly hence two stars, but didn't ask if everything was ok. I hate to leave a poor review, but we will not be returning and would definitely not recommend. Just short of £20 for two breakfasts and tea for two.

I can honestly say I never thought you could go wrong with a baked potato...until today..... the potato had been cooked and reheated several times, inside was all brown and discoloured. Coleslaw was awful, tasteless and made with salad cream. The side salad consisted of a small ramekin with chopped cucumber and tomato. I am against writing bad reviews as businesses recover from COVID, but this review is deserved. We called into this cafe for a bite to eat and a coffee. The experience was ruined by the presumed owner belittling the young lad working there in full view of the cafe. It was an extremely uncomfortable exchange to witness and no young person deserves to be spoken to like that (for clarity this young gentleman said he was at college and the owner was a grown man). I would have been in tears if my boss spoke to me like that, but the young man kept his cool so credit to him. The coffee machine was clearly not working and we got the watery remnants of what was left in the machine. Overheard the owner say he had a new coffee machine yet to be installed - so maybe this will get sorted out soon! We didn’t say anything about the coffees because we didn’t want to create any more drama. The food was ok, but we just wanted to get out of there.

The young waiter was polite and helpful, but the food was of poor quality and expensive. Four of our group ordered scones that were inedible - the worst we've ever tasted.

The place is warm but service is poor and latte’s taste disgusting. Order a cheese scone and get jam with it for the weirdest combination ever. Save your money and walk down street and get a takeout from Gregg’s. At least you know what you going to get there.

Bought some beautifully grown bedding plants for a reasonable price. The hanging baskets were stunning. Very tempted.

Large chain, standard menu offerings, busy, noisy setting, but good sea views, nice outside area. Food came quickly once managed to order at the busy bar. Burger sauce was the best item. Small burger Pattie, creamy coleslaw, hubby had monkfish scampi, bit over battered. Both sets of chips under cooked, when we were asked how our meal was, our reply was just received with blank stare and no response before waiter cleared our plates and left! Buffet breakfast the following morning as we expected! Basic sausages, overcooked black pudding, the bacon, mushrooms and hash browns ok, had run out of baked beans, but at least you could order different eggs if didn’t fancy fried.

Cool bar with friendly clientele. Staff are smiley and attentive. Love the skiing theme and the Brewdog beer. Great having the ski videos on the big screen aswell. Just a thought, have you thought about showing the live skiing on Eurosport/Discovery+?

It was ok but nothing to push the boat out for. My daughter wanted chicken tikka panini but apparently had no tikka, I asked for a sandwich on brown bread cake but they had no brown bread cakes left. Really?? And this was only just after noon. Nothing special about the ham sandwich which all in all tasted bland. The dog ate most of it.
