We stopped here to use the Tesla chargers (with a non tesla) and thought we would try for an early Sunday morning breakfast in the cafe. The nicest staff- so smily and welcoming. I had the breakfast wrap- omg it was amazing!!! Bacon, egg and hash browns. Best breakfast item ever. Husband had the bacon and egg roll. He ended up ordering a second. We had our two dogs with us and they were spoilt rotten- complimentary sausages each. Best breakfast joint. Comfy, welcoming to all and amazing food.

Ordered the chichen, ham and leak pie with mash and veg. At first I thought the portion size was on the small side for £12.55 (I am a truck driver so this is quite expensive) but once I tasted it I forgot all about that, the pie was delicious, the veg was cooked to perfection and tasted like I've not tasted veg before, not sure what they do to it but it works, i enjoyed it so much i left feeling 100% satisfied and contently full, worth every penny, if not more.. Will defintly call in again when I'm passing. Thank you.

We were on a visit to Bamburgh Castle when we hit a massive pothole. Limped back to the Purdy Service Station. No help from the hire car company at all so luckily we found the Purdy Lodge. Whilst Hubbie is trying to get the car sorted, I booked us in for bed, dinner and breakfast. All I can say is what a really lovely stay we had. Room was more that adequate and comfy. Dinner was really lovely, bed great, breakfast really nice. Staff could not have been more helpful and given our circumstances, we really appreciated that they went beyond by offering us to use their landline. Perfect place to visit, stopover on a trip. Highly recommend.

First of all I will not be back here if you payed me this place needs shut and revamped the place Was cold and miserable. Food was terrible reheated bacon and cold coffee. As a haulage company my lorry’s will not be coming here and I have 13 of them lost my custom. If you are lorry drivers do not come here drive straight on on stop in lay-by as this is a joke of a place. The toilets are stinking male shower was to hot and damp everywhere. Rubbish blowing everywhere thought I was in a land fill or on the moon with all the holes in the ground. I recently emailed the purdy lodge and had a text message response from a worker Nicola who needs trained on writing emails. And all staff need trained on customer service as a email with hi to start an email is not how you write an emails. I was recently shown to Tripadvisor to stop lorry’s wasting there time and money on this services.

The food was absolutely gorgeous. Between 4, we ordered 2 belly pork with black pudding mash, gammon, and a roast beef dinner. 😋 the portions were more than ample, and the food was so tasty. The puddings were lovely, especially the apple crumble and the sticky toffee pudding. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. The Belhaven pint is creamy and smooth 😋🍻. Overall, from the outside you might be mistaken to think it is just another motorway services but you would be sadly mistaken. The Purdy Lodge is a definite place to stop at whether to eat and/or sleep. A definite 5 star place ✨️ 👌

During my stay at the hotel, my wife and I had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant. I initially thought it would be a quiet eatery located in a service area, but I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food that exceeded my expectations. I had no idea that I would have the most delicious meal of my Northern trip here. Consequently, it seemed quite busy in the evening (although we had dinner at an earlier time), so it might be a good idea to make a reservation before visiting.

We were originally booked into a b&b near to Purdy Lodge, however due to the b&b/booking.com error the owner denied all knowledge of the booking and left us wondering what to do , so we had to find somewhere to stay for our weekend. We had passed Purdy Lodge, so we came back to see if they had any vacancies for two nights, which they had. The lady on reception was more than helpful, I believe she went above and beyond. The room we were given was nice , very clean and comfortable and a welcome to have after a 4=5 hour journey. The meals we have had here were fantastic ,the meals are cooked well, with locally sourced ingredients, and are well portioned, they server great beers and and the lodge has some fantastic views of the Northumbria coastline. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. I believe that our gain was booking.com and Old Station B&B"s loss. We will definitely be making this our northern hotel for the future.

This Lodge was great, we had walked out of the previous hotel because of the poor quality of the room and the staff (see review of the Blue Bell Hotel, Belford) and came here. What a difference! The staff were excellent, we were asked if we wanted to see the room before paying for it, and she immediately put on an extra heater to ensure the room would be warmed quickly, because of course, they had not expected anyone to be in there and so no heating was on. The room was cosy and comfortable and the bathroom clean. The beds were comfortable and the whole evening pleasant. We ate there too and were very pleased with the meal and the service. I had two starters, which were fresh and tasty and my partner's main was great too. The price included breakfast and was cheaper than the place we had walked out of. Do go there if you are on the A1 as it is right on the main road and very convenient.

Generally, when travelling from Leeds to Edinburgh or Visa-Versa me and my dad stop here to grab a bite to eat or a coffee to break up the journey. Today my experience wasn’t the best. Unfortunately, after the gentleman serving made us both very nice coffees, I spilt mine without drinking very much out of it. I don’t automatically expect an offer of another coffee as a replacement but it would have been a nice gesture. Understanding it was my mess, I went straight up to the counter to ask for a bar towel to clean it up and was instead advised to take a bunch of napkins to soak it. I proceeded to tidy up the table, although, working in hospitality myself, it would have been nice for the employee to have offered to clean the mess as I would not expect the paying customer in the premises to clear up spillages.

What lets its down is lack of cleaning. The restaurant had thick dust on the chairs and skirting boards, tables not wiped down and the carpet not vacumed. In the room where we stayed, again thick dust on the skirting boards and bathroom and above the bedhead. In the bathroom there was no grab/safety rail attached to the wall to help get in and out of the shower. The female toilet was dirty, had no toilet paper and only 1 hand drier, my husband reported that the male toilet had no hand drier but instead an old fashioned roller towel in need of changing! (circa 1980).We decided (unwisely) to try the food, firstly the counter set up is very dated, although the decor is nice and has obviously recently been renewed. I noticed immediately the very expensive road stop prices. Anyway we went ahead and ordered a veggie burger and a beef burger 2 teas and a cappucino £22+! We waited and the food arrived, the chips were pale, limp and as it turned out, under cooked, the veggie burger looked exactly like a well known supermarket's own brand and consisted mainly of potato. The burger looked disappointingly thin, but tasted awful, it was just like a trip back in time when burgers had that horrible lard/offal taste. At the counter I noticed various snacks at ridiculous prices on a parr with a well known coffee chain. The food was a waste of money and unpleasant, I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you're desperate hold on for another 20 minutes and go to Morrison or Macdonald's at Berwick on Tweed, YES it is that bad. Oh yes one last thing the carpark was full of large potholes...be careful!

This is a road-side complex of motel, restaurant, truck-stop, convenience store and filling station on the A1 southbound south of Berwick. It's a REAL restaurant, too, definitely not serving the usual service-area mush. A good, reasonably priced menu, too, with local specialities

Although I visit Bamburgh regularly which is only five miles away I'd never needed to call in here before, but the roadside vans where I usually stop en route were not evident as laybys were shut. So had no choice. This is a soulless place, the breakfast was not great. The eggs for example looked as though they'd been sitting out for some time. The staff really were not over bothered.....must be the culture of the company because you get the same feeling when paying for petrol or going into the shop. Won't be going back in a hurry....

Friendly and efficient staff. Menu included wide choice of foods for all courses. However a little bit pricey for the dishes we ordered.

Needed to refuel belly after a long drive and opted for this delightful cafe grill bar. Opted for the main menu and was treated to a smashing beef pie with thick cut chips. Filled the gap and the staff were attentive and the food arrived hot and in a twinkle of the eye. We were the only ones in so couldn't comment on busy times. Worth a visit I thought and was pleasantly surprised.

We visited here on the way south. We arrived at 1pm and entered their "bar and grill".The room was very cold and no staff in evidence. We got a waitress who came to the grill and started putting the lights on.There was no real interest from the staff who all seemed to prefer being in the back rather than interacting with the customers. The floor in the restaurant had not been cleaned since the previous evening service, there was old food and used cutlery on the floor. We gave up on the idea of lunch. We then went to the cafe next door and ordered four coffees. We were charged just under £14 for the coffee! When the bill was queried we were given a refund on the price of one coffee, we then returned and said that this wasn't correct, the young lady was adamant that it was correct until she checked again and said we had been charged for six drinks not four. Not a good experience at all and we wouldn't return.

We're looking for somewhere to grab a quick lunch and would usually look for a farm shop - not any more. Very friendly, fresh cooked food at reasonable prices and decent portions. Yes we will be back

If you have knowledge in the veterinary field or a fancy for resuscitation may I suggest the bacon sandwich beautifully undercooked although granted you do get a couple of pieces in the bun, tried breakfast twice now...never again..and coming from someone who's best friends with a microwave that really is saying something.

My partner and I stayed at purdy lodge a few days ago just for the night and decided to stay in for a meal which was definitely the right choice it was beautiful black pudding and new potato salad was a perfect starter and presented really well along with my partners starter which she loved, it was clear that the chefs had put a lot of effort in to make it look and taste as it did. The main course was also superb I had the burger and it wasn't just a basic burger it was tasty and home made with all the trimmings, my partner had the salmon and noodles which again she really enjoyed, spot on 10/10 to the chefs. Would also like to mention the waitress on shift on Monday evening she was so friendly and helpful didn't catch her name but thanks for making our stay a pleasant one will definitely be back to try something different on the menu . Lovely clean well looked after place oh and the breakfast was superb too kept me going all day . :))

The choice of food was great and cooked nicely. The staff were great but if I could make a constructive comment and that is different choices of cheese on the cheese board.

Even though I live in Northumberland, I visit Purdy Lodge when needing drinks or casual food when on the A1. I have always found it a welcoming, clean restaurant with helpful staff and a good range of snacks and main meals at very reasonable prices. It is so good to find such a place when most motorway service stations have 'chain' outlets selling fast food. There is ample parking and I have always found meals fresh and good value. I would definitely return here.

We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.

Generous portions of tasty pub food and some excellent local cask beer. The warmest of welcomes for me and Razzie the border terrier and a special shout out to Adele for looking after me so well!
