Many thanks to Simon, Sarah, and Gang for a fantastic stay. We arrived a little early after a very long drive. Simon let us into our room and gave us a Happy Anniversary balloon 🎈. Which was such a lovely touch. Room 5 was very clean and tidy, and it has everything you could want. I enjoyed a lovely soak in the bath before dinner, which was fabulous 👌... We had drinks in the bar & a lovely meal. Always a bonus when vegetarians are catered for. 😃 The macaroni cheese was yummy. My hubby had gammon, eggs, and chip which he said it was excellent. Lots of choice on the menu and such a great atmosphere. We slept really well and had a wonderful breakfast before leaving. Lots of choices, cereals, juice toast, and a cooked breakfast. All served piping hot & cooked to perfection. We can't thank you enough for your making us feel so welcome ☺️
Lovely setting at monkseaton however disappointed with the quality of the Sunday lunches been to cheaper places with better quality should of complained at the time really but it such a lovely little place didn’t want to come across as rude but looking back I should have, beef was tasteless and the veg selection was barely warm.
Been a couple of times and won’t be going back.
Front the outside looks like a up market coffee / brunch place.
The prices also suggest it’s upmarket.
But inside, it like a greasy spoon. The place needs better ventilation, i absolutely stank when I came out of fried food.
Also it’s quite expensive for what it is.
Always people in, so they are doing something right. Just disappointing with it being on the high street and it not matching the butchers type of quality.
Would I go back? No.
Staff look very busy for so few customers. Professional but not welcoming.
Breakfast. Bacon. Tasty but very tough.
Eggs.. scrambled. Light but tasted and smelled wrong. All eggs on the menu are scrambled. Possibly dried? Left them as I don't trust the taste or smell.
Half tomato. Slightly grilled.
Dried up sausage, very small x 1.
Beans are beans, so fine but an egg cup full.
Best part was the toast.
Coffee was OK. Over £13. Pricey for such a small, not so great Breakfast. Spoons next time!
This is the most truly awful over priced poor quality food I think we have ever had. Giving it 1 was too high! Del boys would be a better name. Milkshake had an enormous chunk of ice in more than anything else. Panini soggy and tasteless. Words cannot describe just how truly awful this place is
Went today Sunday 22nd December with husband and son for festive fayre me & husband had traditional turkey dinner son had ham hock pie all meals very good starters & dessert were also very good very good value for money lovely atmosphere & very friendly staff will definitely be back
We had a table of ten booked for Easter Sunday lunch only to find out (from a friend) the evening before that they are closed due to a power cut. I understand that these things happen and it is beyond their control but they didn't even ring to inform us directly. We have family that have travelled 3 hours from Scotland for this. Absolutely terrible customer service!

Fabio’s unhinged night is only the second club to acknowledge the queer population of Durham (not so much so as to become a gay club) and yet, it is dominated by heterosexuals and, exists in a heteronormative paradigm, Queer people get fetishised, served on a platter for commercialisation and still FORCES those same people to queue for over 60mins despite having a PAID for ticket. Avoid at all costs - awful awful awful place.
Worst service ever .. rubbish portion of garlic over price … pizza undercooks … hairs in my food .. would not recommend at all.. drinks all ice no liqueur
Christmas dinner was not worth the £180 we paid !! There was no Christmas atmosphere. The soup for starter was bland the main dinner was ok. We were asked if there was any else they could get us to which my husband asked for more veg as the portion in the serving bowl was not enough for 2 people. And we are still waiting for it to be delivered!! The desert Xmas pudding was a small portion in a large bowl. All in all I would not recommend paying that money for what you got we were in and out in 1hr15 mins. Will definitely not be going back there again
Lovely atmosphere but the brie and cranberry toast was not up to standard. Very dry and not enough filling. It was more like two pieces of toast without butter.
We paid almost £70 to attend a ‘magical Christmas event’ in early December (2 adults and a toddler) and are still awaiting the refund we were promised but have been referred to an external company who helped facilitate the event despite me telling them not to pass my details on as I refused to consult another company on their behalf - the barn sold the event directly through themselves & their website. The event was sold as 5hrs with many things not there on the day - wishing tree, markets, the grinch, face painting (to name a few!). It’s also sold as 15 to a group, the place was absolute CARNAGE - very small barn with easy 100 or more people crammed in. The ‘elf passport control’ was an empty pasting bench with no one manning it & the staff were clueless at what was going on. They gave out patterned paper chains to identify who was where & they even confused themself - it was a free for all & after 40mins we left. The frozen show was embarrassing & we were summoned to it 4 times to fill a void - it was cheesy kids holiday music … oh and the Yuletide menu was chips and hotdogs, the card machine didn’t work & I waited 25mins for chips that I ended up walking away from.
We visited this restaurant for a family Saturday evening out. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was brilliant and the staff are all really friendly, along with the very reasonable prices this is definitely worth a visit!
