The best restaurants in Grove Kingston upon Thames London

Today 7th May 2025, my friend and I went for lunch at the King's tun. We ordered the fish and chip meal with peas and an alcoholic drink. I had a glass of Shiraz and my friend had a glass of Pinot Grigio. I was charged £16 and my friend £13. I have had this meal many a time at the King's tun paying £11.91. I want to know why I had to pay this price when it clearly stated £11.91 on the menu. We were served by Cissy at the bar. I am not happy as the week before when I ate the same meal with another friend I paid £11.91.

Last December I bought slices of cake for some guests who were visiting the next day. Had to wait while the waitresses finished their chat and one sauntered over finally. Next morning when I opened the box, the strawberries on the cake were mouldy and the cake was stale. Have complained to customer service three times. Each time I get sent a questionnaire to complete with a promise that I'll be contacted. Still waiting. I have been a regular customer of various branches of Patesserie Valerie, but they will never see me again.

Popped in for a couple, lovely location next too the river, note they only do their own beer and spirits,no Malibu for example,that said I liked the beers they did have and well priced.

Cheesy chips for £5,something cheese -like is on top of the chips, not melting…no salt available, no toilet available. Chips awful, I wish I could give 0 starts :-/

I noticed an hour after they closed that the sandwiches, bagels and croissants are left in the fridge, which is sad as I thought it would be freshly made on a daily basis!

They are very slow. I allways order and got late food. Once i went to shop for takeaway. They were talking each other. Most of the time they used phone and their concentration is on phone not On food. They are not slowest that i ever Seen.

My colleague twice sent his chicken burger back as it was undercooked. The staff were great about this and gave him a refund without him asking. I had a fish finger sandwich which I didn’t eat all of as something didn’t taste right. 6 hours later I was violently sick and had the hot and cold shakes all night long along with regular trips to the toilet. Can only assume it’s the food and would therefore never recommend this place to eat!!!

Visited on Monday and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. A new staff member, who had long brown hair, served our food with a friendly attitude and great customer service. At first, I didn’t realise she was part of the team as she wasn’t in uniform, but her professionalism and attentiveness made a great impression. A lovely addition to the team! Will definitely be back.

Went to get my jacket back and the security were incredibly awkward about where my phone in the pocket went. I can't say they took it but it felt really shady.

In kingston PE. Lovely waitress called Saayeh was very nice and welcoming to me. All the staff here are incredibly friendly.

The order was not delivered but marked as delivered and I cannot ecen get my full refund. Unacceptable!

Lovely and bright, spacious. Comfortable and clean. Nice sandwich. Delish coffee ☕️. Good space to relax. WiFi. Loos 🚻.

We did not enjoy our visit here. The staff were not welcoming and helpful, The customer service here was appalling and rude. The buffet lunch was a limited choice and some of the dishes had been left standing on a hot plate and was congealed and horrible. A total waste of money. Would never return here

Underwhelming jacket potato. Looked unappetising, no butter, with tiny salad garnish. V poor quality and expensive!!! Expected better from John Lewis. Def won’t return. There are other outlets wanting to offer a better experience.
