Henry's Cafe Bar in Kingston upon Thames

My colleague twice sent his chicken burger back as it was undercooked. The staff were great about this and gave him a refund without him asking. I had a fish finger sandwich which I didn’t eat all of as something didn’t taste right. 6 hours later I was violently sick and had the hot and cold shakes all night long along with regular trips to the toilet. Can only assume it’s the food and would therefore never recommend this place to eat!!!

The Double Philly beef pie was excellent but the service was dreadfully slow as it seemed there was a severe lack of staff. However the ambience was good and the place had a nice feel to it.

We visited last night and we had amazing cocktails x we had food too but it was so over priced for what it was! Small portions and nothing special! I paid £14.00 for my burger and extra onions rings- the portion of chips was unbelievably small and the burger was nothing special. There are much better places to eat in Kingston- go here for cocktails but somewhere else for food!

We often come here on a Friday after work and always enjoy a cocktail or two. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Came here last night with a small group of friends for drinks after work. Unfortunately one member of the bar staff lets the place down. He was arrogant and his customer service left a lot to be desired. I’ve seen several comments on here about rude staff and it wouldn’t surprise me if the majority were about the same person. Thankfully we had a dinner reservation somewhere else so didn’t stay long (but we were shouted at by the member of staff in question as we left)!

Went here last night for a drink before dinner and was literally abused by the barman. He didn't hear my thank you so started to aggressively tell me off for being rude to him! I was brought up to say please and thank you to everyone however even if I forgot to say thank you that is no reason to be spoken to like that. I was in a group of six and we had dinner across from Henry's but obviously we went elsewhere for our after dinner drinks. That barman has a lot to learn about customer service.

Visited here on bank holiday Monday and it wasn’t very busy,the bbq burnt ends were swimming in fat,breaded prawns and calamari were poor quality and looked like they were from the frozen section of cheap supermarket!we decided to leave our food and just paid for our drinks!will not return here for food again very poor quality food!

Very poor customer service. Became a typical rowdy Saturday night bar. Rude bouncers. Bought drinks at 11pm to be rushed to leave by 11.15pm. Ruined a rare parents’ evening out. Such a shame as a regular customer of Henry’s back home in Brighton.

I have eaten here a few times, but have to say my last two visits have been disappointing. I ordered a scampi, battered fish and chips and two of our group ordered 6 dishes to share. Portions seemed small, do not mind if it was wonderful. Sadly it was not, dried out peas, flavourless chips, one of the shared dishes BBQ burnt ends, was floating in a pool of oil. Which congealed once, the plate was finished wit I cannot fault the staff, from the first guy who served us, to the other staff member who came to us with menu. Good selection of drinks, for a pregnant daughter and a non drink. Even found ceders on your drinks list Will return for drinks, but may not eat on my next visit to Kingston.

Rude jumped up staff, people doing drugs in the toilets and terrible quality food. Avoid at all costs

Literally walked out of this place because of the staff. Don't have enough bad things to say about them.

Closed early. Over priced. Rude door staff. Lack of atmosphere. No music. Yawwwwn Bar staff looked lost due to lack of custom.

Came here early on a Friday morning and had a great English breakfast before a day trip to Central London🍳 ☕️ ...such a lovely cafe very stylish with great service 🤗🤗❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Needed a venue to host over 30 people for a 50th birthday party. This is not as simple as it sounds as there are very few places that will do this, or they require a huge deposit! Henry’s however were more than happy to help, and asked a very reasonable deposit, to set aside a section of their interior. Even when the final numbers were a touch under 30 people this was not a problem for them. Prior to the night I managed to get all the guests food orders and gave this to the manager with whom this was organised with. Some of us took the cocktail making class which is highly recommended! Giving everyone’s order in beforehand is also highly recommended, as a lot of people could not remember what they had ordered a few weeks prior. The person giving the class was excellent, and food was good and the staff, including the doormen all helped to make a evening everyone throughly enjoyed. Many thanks to Bruno the manager for helping organise the timings of the food and class, and for his actions throughout the evening.

Me and my wife tried Henry’s for the first time in May 2019, despite it has been open since years now. I always thought it was just a normal pub like many others in the uk, but I was wrong. I like the wide selection of food: from arancini, chorizo, nachos to the more classic fish and chips and burgers. We decided to get the 5 little tasters and then two mains. Big mistake! The 5 ‘little’ starters are actually quite big and we got filled quite quickly. Food overall was quite good, not sure about drinks. On the negative side Henry’s is not very clean. The carpet was rough and full of fluff, tables were not cleaned and as we were sitting next to the big windows I managed to see if dirty they were too (don’t ever look down basically). Sunday lunch time was pretty quite, but still the service was not so active: they forgot to bring tap water to the table after we asked many times. We paid over £40 for the 5 starters, two mains and two drinks so I would say it’s not too expensive. Recommended, but it would be nice to eat in a more clean place next time.

My husband and I popped in for Saturday lunch. The waiter was more than helpful but my vegan chilli was lukewarm, reheated but not much warmer and my husband's microwaved veg weren't cooked through and tasteless. We'd visit again for a drink but not food.

I went here with my 2 daughters, baby grandson and with a 2 year old that my daughter nannies. Right from the beginning we were made to feel welcome and the barman/server could not do enough for us. Finding crayons for the two year old, to making sure we were all happy and had what we needed. We all enjoyed our lunch and my daughter was happy with what they had to offer for the little ones on the menu. We all said we would go back.

I have been in a few times, normally on a quite weekday lunch with my wife. Always received exceptional service. Love when they come to the table and ask if you fancy another pint. Ita almost impossible to say no.

Took my elderly mother here for lunch and had very good service from the Manager. The food was nice-chips could have been better. Reasonable prices. Nice and clean. No river view but I knew that.

Went here for lunch. The food is ok, very average to be honest neither good or bad. Fish and chips were good, nice salad but the burgers are nothing special.

We went into Kingston with our two teenage grandsons today, Saturday, and choose Henry’s as the menu covered all our tastes, we were not disappointed.

We’ve been here before and found ourselves back in Kingston for lunch so thought we’d go back, served at the bar by a friendly enough chap but what I’m guessing was the duty manager was running round being rude to people from what we could hear the kitchen was backed up and they had a big party booked but still snapping at customers all over the place, getting people to move seats, shouting at the staff turning people away when there were empty tables just a really bad vibe, needless to say we finished our drinks and didn’t stay for food - won’t be back

Friendly, attentive staff, nice and comfortable and reasonably good food - it would however be much more relaxing if they did away with the stupid background “music”. WHO likes this rubbish drowning out any attempt at conversation these days? Entirely unnecessary, and probably drives the staff to distraction as well.

Popped in for a drink and ordered some chips for the kids .... smallest portion of chips ever seen - one potatoes worth for £3.50!

We were attending an 18th birthday party and all was going well until a few people wanted to go outside for a cigarette. We took out drinks and found a table and were happily enjoying the evening. Within 5 minutes the bouncers came over took our drinks and said we are not allowed to sit there! We had to move 2 feet away if we wanted to smoke. When we went back in the bouncers were searching bags and asking for everyone for ID and one poor girl said she had only been there 10 minutes and had been asked for ID 5 times. Some of us older people went to the bar to get drinks and they refused to serve us, we have no idea why, as the whole party were very well behaved and there were more over 30 adults then there were 18 years olds. It upset everyone and we all left and found a much nicer pub up the road. Do no go here if you want to enjoy your evening out.

I often visit this place with friends due to its nice location and friendly bar staff. On our most recent visit we were enjoying the lovely atmosphere until we witnessed (along with another table of horrified guests) a mouse scurry across the room. In shock to what we had just seen, we quickly alerted the bar staff whom seemed to not care as if this was normality. We briskly finished our drinks and left.

Popped in here for lunch and very pleased we chose this place. Very warm friendly welcome and exceptional service. There was an interesting menu with lots choices. Food was tasty and portions were decent sized.

Having read some of the reviews I was dubious. However staff friendly and helpful. Menu a bi5 basic but tasty and hot. Thought there could have been more staff though

Went for a brunch here on a Sunday. Arrived and was greeted very cheerfully by all members of staff. Was served promptly and all requests were happily adhered to, with all the right questions asked. Asked for a hot chocolate (which I couldn't see on the menu) and it was made specially for me at a low price. Food came quickly and was delicious. Staff very eager to thank us and say how they looked forward to seeing us again.

I have never experienced such disgusting service before in my life. My girlfriend and I were out celebrating our anniversary, having enjoyed a lovely meal in another establishment we decided to get drinks at Henry's as we had enjoyed doing so on a previous occasion. We ordered two cocktails but sadly one of our glasses was brought to us with a lipstick stain on it, we indicated the problem to the waiter and he said he would change it for us as you would expect.

Food is perfect, the staff are all kind, upbeat and work their socks off. Scenery is magnificent, would always recommend here.

Great location for people watching and view of the river. Staff friendly but appear to be lacking in a sense of humour. Snacks and drinks good, but presentation could be greatly improved on, warm day drink set down on table no napkin or coaster presented or the offer of ice.

6 of us arrived for a lunch time meal. The place lacked some atmosphere but we stayed due to the other local restaurants being dull and we were short of time. Three of the 6 meals we asked for were not avaible and the staff did not seem to interested in offering alternatives. The food that was ordered came super fast....always a worry...for the most part the food was fine, hard to go wrong with salads...the lamb was short on meat and the fries were poor. Chicken burgers ok ish but had better at well known chain of pubs for a lot less. Would not go again.

We had a terrible experience at Browns restaurant with a very rude waiter which resulted in us leaving before we ordered food. Glad we did because we found Henry's. Lovely, friendly staff and excellent food. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Would not visit here again, very rude man called Mark refusing to serve us. He said the manager said he could not server us , grinning and rude , we spoke to the manager we was hoping to order food a drinks. I am 50yrs old and have never been asked to leave. So disappointed with the staff i have been in here over Christmas and had a completely different vibe. So not going back. I can not wait for their response

Should have heeded the warnings of previous reviews? Booked table for family birthday celebration. As usual asked on booking request for 'nice table'. On arrival greeted by indifferent staff member who seemed surprised at us arriving. Taken to a table at back/dead end of restaurant by two big service doors. With the words "We are busy will this do?" then disappeared. Err no actually it wont do!! Waited 5 minutes to see if returned with menus and to ask for another table. No one showed!! A foretaste of the evening to come I think. Nope not waiting so we left and went to Browns Restaurant a short walk away. They sorted nice river view table, and had cracking steak & lobster dinners with excellent quick service. Money well spent there, and they will get my business in future Henry's not you!!

I arrived at an empty bar and was briefly glanced at by the barman. However I was not acknowledged. He proceeded to pour 5 shots of prosecco and then take them to a table. At no point did he say he’d be with me in a minute. During this time the only other member of staff I could see wiped the bar around me but again no acknowledgement of me being there was made.

We visited this place and waited 30 minutes for service at the bar and then decided to give up. There was also a sign saying that the food had run out so they wouldn’t be serving anything until 6pm. The staff didn’t seem interested and were really slow to make any of the drinks. Wouldn’t bother trying to come here again.

Went for a late lunch so it wasn’t too busy for the staff to cope with. Not one dish was cooked properly and looked and tasted burnt. Greasy and poor quality food. Really disappointed and service was unbelievably slow. Heard a couple of women on next table tell waiter their fish was pink and raw! I was with family and none of us will return! Not worth the money. Keep expectations low.

It’s a Saturday night, I just want a bottle of wine. The girl next to me at the bar is celebrating her birthday with thirst. She’s been waiting 30 minutes to be served. Almost the same amount of time will elapse for myself, and no, I have no idea why I would bother when Kingston has so many other options available, I’ll witness a large group of people leave through frustration while I’m waiting. The guy making the cocktails is working like a shire horse. The guy serving doesn’t have the sense of urgency I would expect but he’s trying his best and he’s affable. The guy in the white shirt clearly isn’t pos trained so he’s trying be useful but mainly just shuffling glasses. Glasses that are being gently rubbed with blue roll back stage by the gingham shirted wonder that is the management this evening.

I visited yesterday with a friend for lunch. The set menu had a limited choice but two courses with a glass of house wine was £13, brilliant value for money.

Visited here on a Friday evening for drinks after dinner. Have been to this bar before when it was a slug and lettuce and always had a good experience. This time was completely different. We arrived at about 8.45pm and went straight to the bar to order cocktails using the 2for1 offer. Due to the lack of staff and busy Friday night atmosphere and the fact lots of people were ordering cocktails which take time to make we were not served for our drinks till almost 9.30pm. I think the wait itself is unacceptable as Friday nights are always busy so the bar should be fully staffed - only two staff were working and one appeared to be completing table drink orders. To make it even worse when we finally ordered the drinks we were told that because it was after 9pm we could not use the 2for1 despite the fact we had waiting 45minutes to be served in the first place so paid over £20 for two drinks. Overall disappointing as have had many good experiences there in the past and for a celebrating night out for a birthday this was a real shame. I feel sorry for the staff who were working as best they could but feel that a review is necessary I was really unhappy with the service on this occasion.

A real disappointment for a birthday lunch attended by 8. The poor girl behind the bar by herself was overwhelmed by the volume of clients wanting drinks and ordering meals. The tables were not cleared because the girl was too busy serving. Food was good though we sent back one meal, one dessert never appeared and two coffees were sent back too. Henry's will not see us again..

Came for a nice drink for dissertation results with my well mannered friends, I’ve been quite a few times in the past yet came and was told its 21 only, all my friends are 21 and I’m going to be 21 in 2 months, yet bluntly told i was the only person not allowed in. The venue was quiet and we were not rowdy or immature, bouncer told us its because of a ‘new manager’, i think to suddenly change the age is stupid and to turn one girl away out of 9 is ridiculous. Probably wont come back even when i am 21

Great place to sit, with the river as you look out of the window, the staff are friendly and its a got a good atmosphere in the pub, were welcomed on return and spoken to again on leaving. Would go here again

We always liked this venue, good food, nice service. But this time we were a little bit disappointed. We asked a waiter, a young girl, to clean the table twice. She never did that. Then she brought wine glasses, one was dirty , and there was water in the other one. A waiter was very surprised when we asked to change the glasses. Thanks to God a young man carried on with service, but the mood was spoiled.

Went for a birthday with 8 of us ,Such poor services the place was empty and so slow taking over half hour for couple of cocktails , clearly the bar staff have no clue on making cocktails and kept serving beer to other customers and not making the orders , then leaving them to back up, the starters came out all at different times , some mains came out straight after starters way before others starters had yet to come out , we returned theses and then they decided to delay these 20 minutes after other mains had come which was over an hour wait in between starters to mains, so we canceled these mains, the same on other drinks further into the night we had to cancel after being over half an hour to be made after ordered and paid for. No one had no real effort to apologise or keep us as customers in the Restirant for the rest of the evening , do not go here

We enjoyed fabulous choice food on the lunchtime special menu.

I found the bar staff really hospitable although lacking in numbers given that it was 241 cocktails and they aren’t drinks that are quick to produce. Unfortunately, this meant queueing at the bar for quite a while. Having said that, we really enjoyed our night at Henry’s until we were given 4 minutes to finish our drinks with no prior warning that the bar was closing. One member of the security staff was incredibly rude as we finished up 10 minutes past closing. We were finishing our drinks as quickly as we could and hadn’t yet settled our bill but were told to “get out”. I would recommend they replace/re-train their security staff and this would be a brilliant place for drinks/cocktails but unfortunately their rude security let them down.

Good bar for a few 2-4-1 cocktails with friends.. just a shame you have to wait about 30 mins for those cocktails!

You’ll find Henry’s close to the river. Although it is not literally on the edge of the river, you will have a nice view from the tables by the window.

For a fairly busy Saturday lunchtime, there were only two staff on duty - one preparing cocktails and taking drinks and food orders, and the other taking food to tables, and they were managing well apart from the long queue to order food. My Gloucester Old Spot Sausage and Mash came at least five minutes before my friend's Lemon Chicken Burger. My meal was already lukewarm, and the "seasonal vegetables" consisted of a few tiny strips of soggy cabbage, and the same proportion of overcooked carrot. The mashed potato was almost liquid where it had obviously sitting in the gravy for so long - I couldn't eat it so three sausages cost me nearly £10!! My friend's chicken was as dry as a bone and not a hint of lemon. I'm glad we didn't bother to complain as by the look of other reviews, it wouldn't have done a thing. There are plenty of places to eat in Kingston, give one of them a try. I certainly won't be returning.

Came with a friend for lunch and a few drinks and was very pleased. Especially with the really friendly staff! The food was delicious, we went for the “3 for £15” from the small plate menu and everything we got was lush. Drinks were great too so will come again :)

Popped in for a drink on new years eve. The pub is modern, spacious, comfortable and has a good choice of drinks. Located in the centre of Kingston by the river, Henrys is a place I would visit again

This restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere due in part to the well spaced seating.

The staff are very friendly and the place is very clean with cosy decor. The food came out quick. It was good but nothing special. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was mass produced frozen food. All of us ate it all though. Nothing wrong with it. The price was great. When the bill came you forgot that it wasn’t restaurant quality. Would definately go there again. It’s fantastic that you can book a table in advance.

Visited Henry's for a team Christmas meal. there was only one other table in there at the time - not really much of an atmosphere.

This used to be tired old slug and lettuce, it’s been replaced by Henry’s and has a wonderful atmosphere about it. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and was happy to discover they were 2 for 1. The drinks were very good and they had a huge selection of cocktails. We didn’t try the food but it went passed looking amazing. The staff were also very friendly and very helpful.

It was really easy to book online however I had mentioned that there were two babies and when we arrived we had to navigate the push chairs around other diners (and steps) without any help from staff, Easy enough to offer help next time especially as one member of staff just stood and watched.

I have just visited this restaurant for the 2nd time this year (I didn’t want to come back after the first visit but my husband persuaded me to give you another chance!!!).

My husband, nephew and I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed but Vee, the waitress greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel special by taking us to a great comfy clean table. We ordered but sadly the service was slow and our meals did not arrive complete or together. We picked up that they were short staffed. But Vee was right on it and gave us complimentary drinks and a lovely Christmas drink that she had designed herself. Vee saved the day and together with the other friendly staff this would be the reason we would return. It was a lovely buzzing atmosphere, and an enjoyable afternoon. We will be back

I came in here for the first time on a Friday night, with my cousin and his wife who were visiting. I knew they liked a cocktail or 7, so thought this place would be good with the 241 deal. We were greeted at door by a friendly security guard and whilst waiting at the bar, the waitress said it would probably be easier for us to sit at a table and she would come and take our order. We did however end up having to go to the bar, as she never came back! I was really looking forward to an amaretto sour but unfortunately they said they were missing an ingredient, so we couldn't have it. I chose the Pornstar martini instead which was very tasty. I did find it quite hard to talk in there, as the music was quite loud and at 33, I felt very old! It seemed to be a place that attracted a much younger audience who were dressed up to the nines! I'd certainly come back here, maybe not on a Friday night, and would like to try the food. I'll probably do another review then :)

We came here to have a family lunch. The place didn't seem busy with only about one third of tables taken. However, the starters came after 45 minutes wait, not long after we finally got our drinks. We saw people leaving the place disappointed and unfortunately we had to follow them as after more than an hour we were told it's another 10 minutes to wait!

Went late Saturday lunchtime and had 3 of the sharer plates between the two of us. Was plenty there to eat and delicious. The waiter was also very helpful explaining the menu as the shredded duck isn't what you would expect it is in clarified butter in a jar which we both really enjoyed regardless! Also had the mini Camembert that was lovely and the stuffed mushrooms- a lot of cheese but that isn't a bad thing! Would go visit again as the drinks menu looked good!

Loved it at Henry's, used to be a slug n lettuce so was a nice surprise to see that it had been changed and total transformation. Beautifully decorated. Had lunch club sandwich which was good. Lovely staff. Good selection of beers and other drinks.

We went here for a late lunch. A few free tables at 1400. We got seated and ordered soft drinks. They came and we ordered food. Then the waiting was on. Eventualy we got the food, and the steak sandwich where rally good. Hot and spicy to. Now back to waiting for a waiter to turn up... And when he finaly Did the waiting for the receipt where on.

We walked around the town looking for somewhere to eat and we definitely found the right place, staff were excellent very friendly and professional, food was very good

Food is very good .I ordered chicken and fish and chips . Also wings .all food is good .out side area is very nice staff is also very nice and smiling face is there most of the time . Very nice place must visit .there are many restaurants around .like Byron kappucino etc

We went on saturday lunchtime intending to only have drinks. unfortunately we decided to try the menu which was appalling. we ordered club sndwichees which came up untested and with minimal of the ingredients promised and were not even toasted as with any other club sandwich i have enjoyed round the world. The accompanying triple fried chips were bog standard oven chips and were stone cold.having complained we were offered free coffees which were dishwater and an insult. If you have any taste buds avoid this nightmare dump at all costs. It is a shocking example of the idea of offering trendy food without anyone having any idea of how to cook

We visited Henry's in Kingston for the 1st time. It wasn't very busy. But had a nice relaxed feel.

On the occasion I went the staff were very nice. I ordered a salad which came, bizarrely, in a large kilner jar. It had obviously been pre-prepared a long time ago as the lettuce had brown edges and the dressing had sunk to the bottom of the jar and stuck half the salad to the bottom also. I was told the idea was to tip it all out onto a plate. I did. It was all old, floppy, brown edged and inedible. Truly disgusting.

A lovely place to eat and to drink at the Riverside. Now it would be our favourite place. The interior is designed immaculately with great taste. Food is delicious and nicely presented. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Thanks to God that this restaurant is under an experienced management. Thank you. We definitely will come back soon. Thank you.

Early evening cocktails 2 for 1 Great value and delicious Mojitos. We had sweet potatoes fries also delicious. Lovely weather we were able to sit outside.

A lovely venue, set back from the river. Outdoor seating just perfect on a summers day. The interior of this place is beautiful, with luxury booths, bespoke tables, very decadent and luxurious. The food is lovely- My friend and I opted for the veggie fish and chips which was a delight, great sized portions- just right! I have been here twice now, once for cocktails- they were a triumph too! Highly recommend this place, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Henry's doesn't have river views, but the large windows give it a very airy feel and the decor and music give it a nice relaxed atmosphere.

On charter quay, away from the river . A friendly local pub amongst the Resturants in this area. Indoor and outdoor seating , hot and cold drinks and pub grub on offer . This area can be quite busy so Henrys is ideal if you want somewhere a bit quieter to have a chat and a drink.

I came for dinner and drinks when Henry's first opened and I couldn't fault it! Great service, delicious food (with a great selection to choose from), amazing cocktails and fairly priced extra cold wine! Cannot wait for my next visit!

If you are looking for a family lunch, drink with your mates or just a relaxing time by the river this is the place to be. Food is very nice and at a decent price. The drinks menu is wide offering a great choice of wines and very well executed cocktails.

We had a vegetarian platter and cocktails which were delicious. Very comfy and stylish seating with table service. 2 for 1 cocktails are great here.

We went to Henry's for a birthday treat, we had cocktails and a meal and everything was very nice. There was a bit of an issue with the service, I understand they have only just opened and this was evident with the service. They were mainly small things that will be ironed out the biggest issue being that we didn't receive a round of drinks we ordered but when this was mentioned it was quickly sorted by the manager. Overall it was an enjoyable meal

Came to Henry's for a few drinks before dinner. Went for the 2 for 1 cocktails, which were delicious. We also had table service and the servers were very accommodating and super friendly. I will be back for more cocktails and maybe food!
