Do not visit- The manager of this branch was incredibly rude to us when we had asked to be refunded for a sandwich that they didn't have in stock. A young lady served us and was very apologetic that she couldn't fulfill our order. When we were trying to collect our drinks in our order, and there was confusion over which drink was which, the manager looked at me, as a paying customer and said "what are you looking at me like that for". I was embarrassed to be in that situation and I will never be returning.

Last December I bought slices of cake for some guests who were visiting the next day. Had to wait while the waitresses finished their chat and one sauntered over finally. Next morning when I opened the box, the strawberries on the cake were mouldy and the cake was stale. Have complained to customer service three times. Each time I get sent a questionnaire to complete with a promise that I'll be contacted. Still waiting. I have been a regular customer of various branches of Patesserie Valerie, but they will never see me again.

We popped in for coffee and pastries. The 2 male staff were obviously new and in training but the lovely female manager was so friendly and efficient. The store was quite empty of customers and quite frankly sad looking, but she made what could have been quite a grim experience a pleasant one. Our pastries were warm and crisp and she made our coffees exactly as we asked and double checked once we’d tried them to check they were as we wished. She really went the extra mile, was very sweet and charming.

Went in as a group of four to have morning coffee. A dismal place with strange lighting and tables that looked like the place was being redecorated - it wasn't. A few dry looking cakes in the window. Sticky tables and sticky menus, and non-existent service (and there were only a few others in this place). After waiting for some time we walked out as there was no effort to serve us. At least we didn't waste our money on the high prices we saw on those sticky menus. We went somewhere else.

We ordered a cream tea for two, when it arrived the scones was microwaved, too hot to handle. I then realised this was to disguise the scones being hard and very stale. We mentioned this and there was no explanation or apology. The waitress wasn’t interested at all. We then decided on mince pies, which weren’t much better. We decided to put up with the poor food and told to pay over £18 for three teas and three mince pies. Staff, cafe and whole experience disgraceful.

Unfortunately a terrible experience at the Kingston branch of Patisserie Valerie. The service was exceptionally poor and did not meet minimum standards in my view. The staff practically ignored me and my friend. We weren't able to get a second drink that was included in the afternoon tea as the waitresses ignored us. When we were able to get their attention, I was told I could only get a limited number of take away drinks. The overall experience was bad. With no attention provided to us or any of the customers. There was no ask of dietary requirements. No follow up to check everything was ok. No ask to clear the table. It was pretty chaotic and it seemed from observing the room, other people were experiencing the same. You were made to feel quite uncomfortable. Really poor quality food. Would not come here again.

There was one person serving. When we arrived they were tending to members of a birthday party. 2 people in front of us had been waiting over 19 minutes to get served. We ended up serving ourselves and finding a table. It was chaos. Tables had not been cleared and the queue grew. The worst experience I’ve had in a Patisserie Valerie. We wanted hot drinks but didn’t bother because it was clear we wouldn’t get served. Waited another 10 minutes just to pay after eating. Just a waste of our time. As well as bad service the Lotus Biscoff cakes we had tasted dry and stale. We won’t be returning.

I purchased a Charlotte cake on Friday oct 1st for my sons 40th birthday celebration. I took the cake with me to hotel and asked them to leave it in fridge. On Saturday after dinner , when I opened the cake box , the strawberries had all green mould and the cake was stale. So you can imagine my disappointment and embarrassment in front of family.

I called into the Kingston branch on 17.09.21 to buy cakes for my friend’s birthday party the following day. When I asked the guy serving how long the cakes would last, he told me I’d be better off visiting the following day, 18.09.21, as the current batch of cakes had been baked on 16.09.21, and they would have a fresh batch baked on the morning of 18.09.21. I was impressed with his honesty! Consequently, the following day, 18.09.21 I went in again, and purchased 4 slices of cakes (around £3.65 a slice). Sadly when my friend and her guests tried the cakes at her party, the cakes were stale and hard. I should have realised that the cakes I had bought were in fact the ones I’d seen on 17.09.21, i.e. the ones baked on 16.09.21 (or possibly even before then); the display looked the same as I had seen the day before, but the guy had seemed honest that day, and I had obviously been fooled by him. My friend had to bin the cakes, a total waste of £14+. I will never go to this store again, and will be advising every friend tempted to go in to give it a miss. I even purchased a coffee both times I visited - even the coffee is of poor quality, weak and more akin to hot milk. Disgraceful!

Came here for breakfast a few weeks ago, and had an excellent breakfast of avocado on toast with poached egg, so thought I would go again today. Sadly not to the same standard, cold toast, poor presentation, perhaps different chef at weekends, but certainly needs improvement, and a very long wait for it, even though the only one in the restaurant. I have never been disappointed in this particular Valerie the staff are attentive it is a very relaxed place and I always feel relaxed after shopping. The only downside I have is the toilets. We visited this branch of Patisserie Valerie on a Sunday morning for a quick coffee before shopping in town. When we asked the waiter for coffee only, he rolled his eyes at us and mustered up his best look of contempt. I may be mistaken, but I thought this place was more of a coffee shop than a restaurant and that it would be fine to take up a small table for coffee. When it came to trying to get the bill, we couldn't get the waiter's attention, so we had to put our coats on and look as though we were leaving. Strangely enough, he was straight over at that point. We found this place to be a bit unfriendly with an odd sort of atmosphere.

The serving staff and managers are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate every wish of yours. The signature club sandwiches are very tasty and really fresh. The coffee they serve is one of the best in and around the Kingston area. The atmosphere is nice and everything is clean and tidy. The only problem we have is that the cakes they serve are not very appetising. Usually theses are dry and tasteless. Decided to go here today, to treat my mum to tea & cake for a little pre shopping birthday treat -being that we we lived in central London for most of our lives & frequently visited The shop in Brompton Road, I thought it would be a nice "trip down memory lane"- I couldn't of been more Wrong! We decided to have breakfast - poached egg with granary bread - came with extra serving of hair!!! this is where we should of backed the dish & left the shop but stupidly didn't - I politely pointed it out to the waitress who had a blasé attitude towards the situation she took the dish away and returned suspiciously quickly - mum was suspicious too so only ate the toast - which was cold.Onto the cakes - mum had lemon cheesecake which was tasteless and the only hint of lemon was the decor on top & an added extra of greenfly!I had Mille fuille ( sorry about the spelling) it was ok, had a pleasant taste but the custard creme was thick and gloopy - not the recipe I remember! The waitress who was a total butter fingers - charged us for a latte that we didn't have.Someone really should of mentioned to the staff that it was national smile day today as they were so miserable looking almost as though they didn't want customers in their shop.In my opinion, do yourselves & your purse a favour and go take a visit to the John Lewis cafe nearby - there cakes (especially the carrot cake!!)are much tastier than any of those shown in the window of Patisserie Valerie!!

For those of us who can remember the original Patisserie Valerie in Old Compton Street, this chain is a great disappointment. All the old values of range, quality, atmosphere and service have gone. So, really, someone has merely bought the name and created something that's not remotely like the Soho original. We popped in for a quick cuppa and a cake after a strenuous shopping trip but the experience was disappointing. No decaffeinated tea. A gluten-free brownie was plonked on a plate in front of us still in its cellophane wrapping. I ordered a cream tea but the scones, etc arrived a good 10 minutes after the tea - they should be served at the same time. And the bill was wrong - they attempted to charge us £4 more than it should have been. As for "atmosphere", there wasn't any. Give this place a wide berth.

I have loved Patisserie Valerie for years and am so pleased they have more than one shop now. Consistently a very good standard. Reliable.

The quality of food is good - cream cakes especially. The prices, however, are too high. It is a 'nice' place but compared to the original Patisserie Valerie chain branches are soulless clones.

l really enjoyed tea and scones at Valerie Patisserie, they have very good deal. The service was excellent, lovely waitress and nice way to end an afternoon after shopping.

I stopped in here for coffee and cakes and it was such a disappointment. The coffee was watery but that wasn't the main problem. The cakes were dreadful. I had a tiramisu and it was the worst I've ever had. Horrible dry cake with tasteless chocolate mouse on top and a layer of cream that tasted like it came out of a can. Like no tiramisu I've ever had. Just awful. The frangipan tart was so dry. It tasted like it had gone stale. The citron tart was the best of a bad bunch but still not very good. I will never return. Next time I'm in Kingston I will go for coffee elsewhere.

Having chosen a tango bottle of pop for my son and something for myself we were then encouraged to order from our table, which we did. We were surprised when staff opened the bottle, left the other half in the bottle behind the counter and just served us the glass. When I asked for the remainder of the drink they said that they would charge me for another glass. I would have paid £1.25 to take the drink away but was being charged over £2.00 to have half of it on the premises. I felt that this was misleading! Finally they gave me the other half of the drink but the service was generally poor. The whole experience means that I would not go back again particularly as other establishments are more accommodating and better value for money!

Been here before a couple of times and the food was nice. However, this time the food was terrible. I had a full English breakfast, and the eggs were very undercooked and to the point of being raw. The beans were congealed and stuck together. I had to send back my food, which I have never done before. The waiter didn't seem bothered. I also asked for tomato sauce and I was half way through my breakfast before it arrived.I'm not sure if they got a new chef, but the decline in standards is awful. I also heard other customers sending food back (the same waiter serving these tables didn't seem bothered or particularly helpful).I take back my previous positive review of this place and would advice avoiding.

Love the full English here. It’s cooked very nice and although it’s a bit expensive, it’s money well spent. If you’re in the area worth a visit. Good quality food and drink, served by friendly staff.

Trying to visit as many as possible, another lovley cafe, clean, pleasant staff. This time had a big macaroon, as i usually have chocolate something or other, it was huge and really chewy a good choice. Skinny one shot latte was lovley as usual. Really pretty town well worth a visit

Lets start with the positives. Agi the manageress was great, the coffee is fine - not the best, but OK, and the cakes look fantastic. As a location just to have coffee and cake you could do a lot worse. But, Patisserie Valerie tries to be more than a coffee shop, and in that it fails badly. We ate lunch. My penne al arrabiata was tasteless. The pasta was flaccid, too cold and stuck together- so not tossed in olive oil before adding the sauce The sauce itself was sparse in the extreme - maybe acceptable if served as the pasta course in an 8 course meal, but not as a stand-alone lunch dish, and it lacked any chllli kick. My wife's Croque Italienne was dry, under-filled and with a miserly amount of bechamel source clinging to the top - at £6.75 it did not represent either good quality or value. My pancakes with mascarpone and honey were better although the pancakes were too cool and stodgy. Service was slow and apart from Agi who was great, the rest of the staff seemed to be clueless. Our bill came, unrequested, half-way through the meal, and it came as a surprise to our waitress that we were still waiting for my dessert 20 minutes after we'd had our tea and coffee. Another grouse is that the premises, a former bicycle shop, are not really suitable for this type of business Downstairs is cramped and the upstairs has all the ambience of a broom cupboard and is only slightly larger So, not recommended Unless you limit your ambitions to coffee and cake.

Having visited Valeries for the first time last Tuesday, my expectation from seeing it from outside was that it wiuld be a welcoming, traditional patisserie. We were really surprised when we sat down to overhear a member of staff being rude to our dining neighbours. Then was our turn. Placing our order felt as though we were inconveniencing staff. Our drinks were put down on the table so hard, our saucers were swimming in our drinks and our food felt as though it was thrown at us. Needing change from the bill attracted a heavy sigh from the member of staff. Just having moved to Kingston, I'd really hoped this lovely place would've been a regular haunt, but I'll surely be taking my hard earned cash elsewhere. A definite no-no for service with a smile.

We are regulars at Patisserie Valerie Kingston on Thames , the Staff are friendly and efficient, the Place is always Spotless , and The Best Part, The Food is Superb. Sunday Morning is always busy but the staff breeze through orders , and there is a lovely feeling about the place. Perhaps some of them should go to the Branch in Covent Garden and show the Staff there how things should be done ! I give Kingston Top Marks for everything.

We booked the bottomless brunch on the 31st August. We was expecting a live DJ as advertised on the website. When we arrived there was no DJ and when we asked about it we was told that unfortunately the DJ cancelled. We was told we could play music through our phone! They then took ages to serve us our drinks during the bottomless timescale, and overcharged us on our bill. They also charged us a service charge for very poor service! It was a massive let down, especially as this was part of a hen weekend. The place was empty aswell & i'm not surprised. I wouldn't recommend.

I'm a big fan of this pub! I enjoy sitting at the bar, sports being on, how it looks and how the managers/ owners kick out non-customers trying to use the toilet. It is a classic pub, I can't comment on the food, never eaten there. Some of the staff behind the bar could be a bit friendlier, but the service is quick enough. The only thing is it closes fairly early which is a shame, but that's life. Please go and have a pint at the bar!

Hostile toilet policy even when having full intent of buying a drink after. Management rude and suspicious. Unwelcoming vibe.
