The Gazebo in Kingston upon Thames

Popped in for a couple, lovely location next too the river, note they only do their own beer and spirits,no Malibu for example,that said I liked the beers they did have and well priced.

This was my second visit today just for a drink only and the service and welcoming I received was lovely. My first in Saturday after a walk along the river from Molesey and today again. Such a beautiful setting over looking the river and sitting up on the balcony was perfect . I’d like to say a very big thank you to everyone but today it was Sophia as sadly I didn’t ask the names of any other staff. The tables where filling up as I left so many thanks again

Great location with excellent selection of lagers. Big fan of the wheat beer and especially the terrace, which is the best on the Kingston town stretch. Sofia behind the bar was particular helpful explaining the various lagers on draft. Will be going back.

A lovely and friendly spot on the river after a gentle stroll . The team are very friendly and attentive . As fairly regular patrons we enjoy a banter with the team…even the chef has come out to check we are okay. The staff have commented that working there is a pleasurable experience and this is reflected in the service we have enjoyed for well over a year. Can’t please all of the people all of the time but definitely our first port of call to enjoy a pleasant ambiance .

We had a seat outside with a view of the river and that's clearly what you're paying for. Tnb drinks were really nice, the house rose was lovely (one of the best house roses I've had) and my bf liked his ginger beer. However the food was a big lacking for the price. Bfs burger was small and my Caesar salad was lacking. I'm glad I got the chicken in top or else it really wouldn't have been much, but for 16.25? Don't think it was good value. All that being said the staff are wonderful and really very good, couldn't fault them. And also the views, comfy outdoor seating and we enjoyed spending time there.

Had an amazing time visiting the gazebo in kingston! I enjoyed a lovely and refreshing pure brewed organic lager by the river! The bar staff were so knowledgeable on the different types of drinks available. Great place 10/10

Never usually leave bad reviews but unfortunately, this pub deserves one. Apart from the lovely setting on the river, our food took an hour to arrive despite it looking like something from a kids menu- cold hard chips, stale burger bun and a small chicken schnitzel. They were understaffed but still moved at a snails pace. There is 1 choice of white wine at £30 a bottle and after asking for 3 glasses, I was given 2 and told I’d have to wait 5 minutes for a 3rd.

Don’t eat here. Only one person in the kitchen on a sunny Saturday lunchtime. We waited so long for food that we had to give up in the end and get a refund - which could only be given in cash. Tables that had arrived well after us were given their food before us. By the time we cancelled, our food hadn’t even been started to be cooked. No alcohol free cider or lager on sale. Nice location but other than that absolute chaos. Give it a miss.

The location is great, the service was pleasant. However the food took a long time to come and the chips ordered were cold. They did warm them up when we bought it to their attention. The staff are very pleasant but we thought inexperienced. Training issue? Many tables were left cluttered and not cleaned or cleared. This seems like there wasn’t enough staff or the management have no clue on how to manage. On a clear sunny weekend shouldn’t pubs and restaurants expect more customers?

Great pub with a lovely atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for drinks and cocktails tasted great!

Please don’t ever buy red wine from here. It’s an insult to even call it wine. For £30 it must have cost £5 at the most. It really isn’t that hard to buy something decent and still make a profit.

The best terrace in Kingston with uninterrupted views of the Thames! Super staff as well! Serve a very good pint of stout and an excellent gin & tonic!

Managment very bad, I could see poor staff couldn't handle and were struggling with so many orders. When I asked for the manager, Ivan, to ask about my food as I was waiting for 50 minutes, he was so rude to me, refused to refund my order and then I heard him screaming at the staff!!! As a worker in the service industry myself, seeing how this place treats their employees, and generally the lack of proper management, I will never be coming back to this place again and I recommend everyone to avoid this place and not give them any money!!! Had to leave without getting my food.

We went yesterday to the gazebo for second time and we really enjoyed welcoming manger and food and drinks and flower's too was really lovely sure will back again. Keep going guys

Beautiful Location. I studied in Kingston and now live near Kingston. This was one of my fav places when I went to KU. this was my first time back after the new management. The burger. I don’t even know what to say. I wouldn’t expect anyone to serve this dry and chewy angus beef burger

No staff at the bar. Have to waiting while barman is the kitchen with punters just stood at an empty bar. Wine selection is one white, one Rose. Tested like supermarket wine. Tables full of empty glasses, no one apparently clearing tables. Dirty toilets with broken lock on cubicle….a prime riverside location pub…. Not a clue how to run a hospitality business….

Gazebo benefits from a fantastic location, offering beautiful views and a charming ambiance that initially impresses. However, the decor leaves much to be desired. The furniture on the second floor is in poor condition, with many pieces torn and visibly dirty. This detracts from the overall experience, which is unfortunate given the venue’s potential. The staff is warm and approachable, making an effort to provide good service. However, when we tried to address these issues, the manager was nowhere to be found, which was disappointing. Gazebo has a lot going for it, but it needs improvements in decor and management to truly shine.

Nice pub, right on the river. Seating outfront, round the side and a terrace with a few tables. Steps leading down to the river are for customers too, so plenty of seating outside for sunny days. Eclectic mix of beers available and are very nice, Organic lager was very tasty, clean and fresh. Staff very pleasant

This place completely changed start be much better more than before.

Had a meal in here with my partner on Wednesday 31st of July for some lunch, and we were served by Ivan. I thought his attitude towards the customers was horrible, he did not want to helpful at all. I asked for two ice cubes , he ignored me and filled the whole glass. We ordered food and asked if we could go upstairs and it seemed like he didn't want the hassle of us going up, we went up anyway since we wanted to sit in the sun. And ordered two burgers that were meant to come with chips and coleslaw, it took them almost 40 min to bring our food and when it finally came the chips were almost stone cold and the meat in the burger was cold too. And to top it off they didn't bring us coleslaw so we had to ask him to bring some. Would not come again since the attitude towards the customers was dreadful.

This place is a great pub to visit with friends when it's summery. I went on a warm Father's Day and it was splendid! The Fish and Chips was delicious, with a great portion size. I'd suggest to avoid the scampi and chips though. When we went, the place had minimal staff and was a bit disorganized. The food was served quite quickly though and the staff were all lovely.

Nice venue but the barman was 20 shades of miserable. A friendly and welcoming demeanor/smile goes a long way. Judging by the reviews he isn't the only one unfortunately. Wouldn't return.

They had a handwritten cocktail menu outside so I asked for one of them and they looked at me really confused saying they won’t do that. I chose a different cocktail and it took ages to have it. They are super slow and the bartender kept asking the other bartender how to do the cocktail. Won’t come again.

Only sells in-house beverages, no known brands available. Slow service as upstairs bar locked shut. Lack of staff, so tables filled up with previous customer clutter. Cheap beer though and the upstairs balcony is a lovely spot.

The management of this place is disgraceful! On a busy and sunny Saturday the pub is left in the hands of few, untrained staff. We can tell they’re really struggling and we feel so sorry for them. The service is extremely slow and the cocktails are dreadful. It’s a shame because the location as potential.

Visited this pub a few times and nothing changes… manager is incompetent (Ivan I believe is his name) and doesn’t really look like he knows what’s going on! However he is competent enough to write fake reviews about the pub! They allow a cat to sit on the tables and clean itself and not wiping it after! I have witnessed a mouse running across the bar! Would not recommend this pub at all just atrocious

I wanted this to be a lovely relaxing afternoon at The Gazebo but sadly the food, drinks and service was poor. The bar staff were not interested and on several occasions got my order wrong whilst overcharging me. The food was expensive and slow to arrive to the point I had to chase with staff to see if had been ordered. All in all a poor experience and won’t sadly be going back again any time soon.

We went for some beers and coctails! The drinks were fine! But the service was awful!!! The food took 45 minuts!!! And it was just some nachos and humus!

Beautiful location; but that is where the positives end unfortunately. Table of 6 outside on a beautifully sunny day, but it was the only place with no queue to get in... we soon found out why. We started with an order of large nachos and large chips. A side plate of nachos and a small metal basket of chips arrived. So we went back to the bar and ordered 3 additional meals - a small plate of nachos, some squid and some honey basted sausages. Close on 30 minutes later the sausages arrived with some calamari (not squid) and we were told they are out of nachos (so why not tell us when they start cooking the food?) So back to the menu we go again and order some chicken nuggets. A member of staff cleared the first round of food and we asked if it was the large portion of nachos and large chips and were told no, that's the starter portion 🙄 The staff wander around with plates of food asking at all tables if this is their food as there are no table numbers (such a simple thing to rectify) and after all that, we left having paid large portion prices for starters! Oh, and no berry or dark fruit ciders on offer. No music, not helping with the lack of vibe. Such a shame.

Very disappointing all round. Large nachos and large chips ordered. Table clearer confirmed they were small portions. Then ordered a small nachos, crispy squid and sausages. 20 minutes later the sausages arrived and some calamari (squid?) and we were told no more nachos available. No table numbers so staff walk around aimlessly asking customers if food is theirs and a really poor selection of ciders. Plenty empty tables at lunchtime where neighboring places have a queue to get in... I wonder why. 0 stars... no offer of any compensation for incorrect portions or missing food. Don't recommend

Oh dear. Great views don't make up for poor Sam Smith's - again. I'm a long way from Tadcaster. Food was Spoon's quality at nearly 3 times the price.

We stopped in here for some lunch. The rest of the places alongside the river were really busy, but we were the only ones here which was surprising. Could not fault the service, the bartender was polite and friendly enough. The food was delicious. We all went for pies, with some changes - one of us had chips instead of mash and the other had mushy peas. The only complaint was that normally veg comes with the meal and you order extras such as mushy peas, but his came with just mushy peas. We are northern and normally southern pies are a bit of a let down, but the pastry on this was lovely. The pies were well filled and the onion gravy was beautifully thick. It wasn't an expensive meal either, with a table overlooking the river. If we happen to be in the area again we would go back for sure. Just a shame there weren't more people in the pub to make the atmosphere a bit livelier.

Limited menu and several items out of stock on our post-Christmas visit. Also poor for special dietary requirements, Nothing Gluten free. That said the food they had was good and a big plus they could accommodate our party of eight which other places in the area could not. Would go back for a waterside drink but probably not to eat.

The food we ordered was very tasty but did take longer than usual to arrive. The service was very strange as once we ordered at the bar the bar man would shout across to our table for us to collect our drinks at the bar. I could understand this at busy times but there was only 2 other tables occupied. It almost seemed like he was allergic to leave his side of the bar. Atmosphere also slightly lacking. Some music wouldn’t go astray.

I was drawn in on a beautiful sunny September Saturday afternoon by their very inviting large outdoor seating area directly adjacent to the river Thames - with truly beautiful peaceful views to be enjoyed. Had a very tasty Samuel Smith Pure Brewed Organic Lager - which sounded interesting and tempting amongst their choice of non-mainstream beers. Priced at £6.80 slightly higher than usual, but acceptable. Only slightly disappointed - and reason for 4 instead of 5 stars - that their card machine didn’t work, despite 3 attempts my debit card was declined. I had fortunately enough cash on me to pay for my beer - but it left a sour taste in my mouth and an obvious concern as I was sure to have sufficient funds in my account. Which went as far that when I went a couple of hours later to another pub I didn’t even try to pay by card to avoid a further embarrassment - and trying to worry about it later, let it not spoil a nice day out. But before leaving Kingston and heading home I used with my debit card a cash machine to withdraw £50 and used the same card shortly after to pay for my bus fare to take me home that day. That’s proof enough that the fault clearly must have been by the card machine at The Gazebo. No apologies by the staff either…

Sam smiths pub , according to the lady I spoke to, Hollie/Holly (not sure correct spelling) it's been a smiths for roughly 20 years but recently taken over by new management. Was quiet when I arrived at 12 opening and stayed fairly quiet until I left at 13.30, food was really good, I had fish and chips, a pint of bitter and then tried a ½ of cider. Both very pleasant drinks. The service was brilliant, I spoke to the lady mentioned above about my experience with Sam Smith pubs in different locations and then later a nice talk about books (I was reading while having a bite to eat) and comparing favourite authors. Would definitely visit again and to see what it is like during summer/busier periods.

What a disappointing trip. Sandwiches was wrong. Poor poppie cola in the drinks. One sandwich forgotten about. 20mm wait for some sandwiches which tasted like Sainsbury’s basics. Would not recommend. Waste of value for money and the miserable lady behind the till just topped off the utter terrible experience. I repeat. Just don’t go here. Would add photos but it wasn’t camera worthy at all

Wonderful location but a simple fish finger sandwich awful. Tasted off and less than one fishgu GWR in a sandwich. No tartare sauce. Lazy staff.

Was apprehensive when we saw how empty the place was compared to nearby restaurants that were humming. Soon found out why. The service was slow and the food dreadful. How difficult is it to make a halloumi sandwich. Most of the promised ingredients weren’t even in it, even after complaining and sending it back for a “revamp”. Stale white bread - no brown bread available. And very expensive too.

The ambience was really good and welcoming. They have a range of beers from Samuel Smith, we were served "dark and stormy" by the bartender Harsh. The drink was really good and refreshing.

I went on a date with my girl for some drinks. The place is like traditional English bar with in house brewed beer and amazing food. The staff is very friendly especially Ayush who served us our drinks and food Would recommend this place for a nice time.

Great spot on the river, and made the last of the spring sunshine on the upstairs balcony with the sun on our faces while looking over the Thames. After, the inside was really cozy and didn't want to leave. Fish and chips were great, loved the lager too. The barman was really good fun, attentive and delivered with a smile.

The slowest bar service along the river in Kingston. Fantastic location with great views and tables right on the river. They just need to get the service right.

What a lovely place to spend the afternoon or evening. The view & service is amazing. The food menu is varied, lots of options to choose from, very competitive prices. Can highly recommend the Steak & Ale Pie, mash, carrots & gravy. The staff are really friendly & nice vibe in this place. Definately will be back for another visit.

We have visited The Gazebo on a number of occasions, I would highly recommend it . Nicola and her team are really friendly and attentive, and ensure all visitors are happy with the service and enjoy the drinks and food available . The menu is varied and excellent value. The location next to the river offers amazing views this lovely river side restaurant and bar are definitely worth a visit

One of my favourite places to go out in Kingston! The staff are always friendly and attentive, and always have a smile on their face! The food is delicious and all the drinks are always prepared perfectly. It’s really turned around since coming into new management, with a manager I can’t rate highly enough. 10/10 experience 😁

Stopped here for lunch, and had a sandwich-chicken, which was okay, but it took ages to arrive. Ordered a coffee to drink with the food, but it was tasteless and comprised of half a cup of froth. May consider returning, but won't be having any coffee.

I couldn't believe my experience at this pub. We had booked a private area about a week in advance. Told them it would be for a lot of people. We arrived and at least half the taps were off. I ordered a beer. That was finished too. I ordered another beer, that was finished. I would say there were at least 5 lines finished...on a Friday night. I had to have the last beer they had left. £6.70. To make it worse, the people serving were in training and seem to have never seen a pint of beer in their entire life. The serving was awful. To it top off, a bottle of beer was £7.10. Criminal, I don't know how you can justify it.

This looked like a nice place with a decent menu. I went up to the bar (as the door banged behind me) and the barmaid asked what I would like. I ordered and paid for a drink, then asked about lunch. She told me that, unfortunately, the kitchen was closed for lunch today. I drank most of my drink and left. What good is a pub with a closed kitchen?

A good mate recently hired the Terrace Bar at The Gazebo for his birthday and it was absolutely ace. The Terrace is gorgeous with a wonderful view of the river. The staff were fantastic.. super attentive and really friendly, makes all the difference that doesn’t it. Food was gorgeous and plenty of it. You can really tell that there’s been a fresh breath of life brought to the Gazebo, and I highly recommend it. Thanks so much for for putting on such a fantastic night guys .❤️🙏

I had the privilege of celebrating my 50th birthday upstairs at the Gazebo, Kingston. There were about 30 of us for a lovely sit down dinner with stunning views over the Thames and Kingston bridge. Nicola (who has recently taken over management of the property) and her team provided the best atmosphere and service that made the night that much more special! All they way from the champagne reception, through the serving of the excellent food and wine to assisting in bringing out the Bday cake, the staff went above and beyond! We will definitely be going back! Thank you!

What a lovely venue with unbeatable views over the Thames. Excellent food+drinks. I had the salmon which was perfectly done. Such friendly staff members who all went over and above to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves, and gave prompt attention when eg urgent cleaning was needed because of an accident etc.

I went here for a friends birthday - we had the whole of the top terrace bar to ourselves. The place was decorated beautifully and what a view ! The staff were so attentive and the festive menu had something for everyone. We all had a really lovely time and I would happily go back here.

What can I say the people made the venue. From the moment I walked in to the end of the evening the service was outstanding. I had a three course meal and as far as pub food is concerned it definitely was there with the top places I know. The views over the river especially at night were amazing.

After a few hours shopping, we stopped for some lunch. We ordered the Beef Wellington which was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly especially Charlie, and Nicola the landlady who went above and beyond with her service and hospitality. I would definitely recommend a visit. The bar is nicely decorated and had a lovely chilled ambience. Will be going back in a couple of weeks after some Christmas shopping.

its a great place but the staff will always kick you out around 9- 10pm even in the weekend, and the reason is always lack of customers no matter how many ppl are in there we have been asked to leave multiple times

Lovely pub. It has an amazong view of river and is a wonderful location during the summer times. They have great drink choices. Staff seem really nice and have great customer service skills. Ive knocked over my drink quite a few times amd honestly they have dealt with it in a professional manor. Would generally recommend a visit here 💜

I love this place! One of the best pubs in Kingston. The new landlady Nicky and her team, have made the pub really lovely and welcoming. We (my Mum and I) are out-of-towners (from Worksop) down to visit London tomorrow to pay our respects to her Majesty the Queen and staying at the local Travelodge and thought we'd take a walk along the river tonight and see if we could find somewhere to eat and have a glass of wine or 2. We stumbled in on this place! Great food, fantastic service with a brilliant view overlooking the River Thames. Thank you for looking after my Mum and me. We will be back. x

Great Sam Smiths pub on Kingston Riverside, now under new management. Plenty of seating by the river and on the upstairs terrace. No annoying piped music either so you can enjoy conversation. Staff are very friendly.

Went in to do some work on my laptop, was served a decent pint by the bartender and began to work, about 20 minutes later a manager told me I had to leave or sit outside as "they do not allow technology in the bar". A little confused I put my laptop away and looked at my pint glass, "Samuel Smith" written across the glass. I then quickly finished my pint and left after realising I was in an establishment of a greedy, dated and corrupt pub chain owner "Humphrey Smith" (google his name and you can find a number of questionable practices by himself). I understand laptops are banned in Sam Smith pubs as in theory they want customers to talk to each other but in circumstances where customer wish to have a drink and do work I feel this rule is flawed and should be revised upon. A real shame as the bartender who served me had great customer service skills. I feel this review is more for the chain as a whole and not this individual pub. I want to emphasises I do not blame the staff in this situation at all as they were just following the (questionable) rules put in place by the chain. TLDR: Great service by the bartender and decent pint, flawed policies put in place which hinders customers experience and has no real benefit (in my opinion).

A long await for such a beautiful pub to reopen. Friends and I visited last weekend which was their first weekend open in a long while. We wanted food which unfortunately they are not starting until the 25th July but we met the new Manager...

What can I say. I can go into details about staff and food/drink quality....But in a nutshell, apart from location, it's simply PANTS!
