Just sat in this deserted Kings Road reataurant trying to eat a small plate of five pieces of dried up chicken reheated and a tiny portion of cold chips and realised why it's empty. I just thought let's get through this it's only £9.95 but when the bill came - or rather I went to the counter because there was no service - the one rude waiter behind the bar presented me and my friend with a bill for £44. We could not believe it. He claimed the five pieces of chicken with no accompaniemwnt was a shish taok main course which it so wasn't. It was appalling. I wasn't going to argue at £9.95 but at £22 a head I argued and then some but he absolutely insisted that we had to pay that and if we hadn't liked it we shouldn't have eaten it. What a truly awful place. Only two other customers in there and they looked as shocked as we were by their small plates of dried up food. Haven't had a meal this bad in London ever. Avoid this place like the plague although surely it can't be disgracing itself for much longer as it looks as though most people already avoid it. That's the biggest waste of nearly £50 I have ever experienced. I feel utterly swindled and robbed. Disgusting.
Small cafe and seats are very close together. We chose for take aways instead. The food was very good. The packaging is not very environmentally friendly.
The ratings are based on a most enjoyable experience many years ago. Unfortunately there has been a fire and repair and refurbishment is taking place, due for a grand return to the social scene during the summer 2025. I've already booked my return ticket to London!
What a warm feeling here at the Abingdon. Great atmosphere, service and management. The food was just right. Lovely experience for a family and a date. This will be a staple for my family.
As an old fella I can tell you, you can't beat consistency and that's what you get at manicomio always great food , obviously it's got fabulous atmosphere being in Duke of York square and always great service, staff change but manicomio somehow manages to find great replacements and with this in mind thank you Yasmine.. 4 days into the job and what a gem attentive, polite but above all personable what a joy
Thank you
Such a beautiful place, stylish and elegant. Great service. Manager was very welcoming and friendly. He supported our special needs request. Our waitress, Anna was lovely, warm and she looked after us with care and attention. He had very nice time and food was high quality. Highly recommend this restaurant located in outstanding building with beautiful garden.
Delicious food! The garden is nice, you'll get the sun during the day but not in the evening.
Service was reasonably fast and attentive. It was quiet when we arrived (6:30pm) but busy when we left (9:30pm)
We went for
- leek bread with the Spicy Tiropita dip. This was one of my favourites, the bread itself was flavourful and I could eat a lot of it. The dip seemed the most interesting to us, we made sure to get every drop. It was delicious.
- Sea Bass carpaccio. This was great, nice and light with a good citrus/vinegar kick.
- Courgette Cakes. Had a surprisingly meaty feel and flavour. A nice bite.
- Feta Tempura. Great! A lot of feta. We couldn't taste the capers much.
- Braised Ossobuco and orzo. This was delicious and the meat incredibly tender. But honestly a huge portion. We would have preferred a smaller plate for a cheaper price haha. It was quite a lot of food!
Service was terrible. From greeting us to being seated. Every time we wanted to order we had to flag someone down. The food was mediocre. Pizza was soggy. This restaurant is nothing special and feels a bit gimmicky. Honest review from an Australian visiting London and wanting to love this dinner.
My partner and I had been to a concert in Cadogan Hall which went on till late, we missed dinner.
We arrived at 21:55 to the Cote on Sloane Square where we were greeted by Dom and his team. Dom seated us with ease and we felt no pressure in ordering our food, which was exceptional and the service brilliant.
I am a Cote fan and now even more so.
This branch has great decor and a lovely atmosphere will dine again when in the area.
