I've loved it since it opened. But, my, it's so expensive now!

It's an excellent venue. The last time I visited the food needed improvement. They have done that. I hope they take our comments seriously, stabilise the menu, and the quality of offerings. This way, they break through their limit and will elevate to the elite gastro pub level. Their draught beer selection needs to improve along the lines.

We had a wonderful evening at The Arbingdon. Despite being a walk-in party of three on a busy Friday night - with a newborn in tow - the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere struck just the right note, and the food was exceptional. We left thoroughly pleased, and I couldn’t help but think that if I owned a business, I’d want to poach their fantastic team!.

Nice atmosphere, good food, but the wait was a little too long

Went here with a large group for coffee on a Sunday afternoon. Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating as we didn’t have a reservation. Thank you Charlie for being helpful and kind during our visit!

Fantastic venue with great staff and brilliant coffee - they tried their very best to accommodate our large group at short notice. Charlie went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, happily taking on the challenge of accommodating our big group with a genuine smile - we will definitely return!

Please be warned: the food is pricey. But it's worth it for this elegant venue. Sunny seats outside, cosy velvety couches inside. Extensive choice of wines and the bartenders know all about each of them. They also remember you when you return, which is gratifying.

Attended a birthday lunch at this restaurant for a party of ten. The service was superb, the food generous and delicious, the atmosphere warm and friendly. Highly enjoyable.

A gastro pub of good quality. Great food and a very pleasant atmosphere. A good choice on the menu and food was excellent. It's London prices so don't expect a cheap meal if you're from up north like me.

Good for a casual day out. large portions, Burger was ok so the chicken Caesar salad. Espresso and cappuccino won't suggest ordering. The team is lovely and friendly and bubbly. Great service. Dog friendly which is a big plus.

Great place to relax and have a nice plate of steak and fries. Staff friendly and make you feel at home.

Great pub hidden in the back streets

This place serves excellent restaurant food, with restaurant service at pub prices. We highly recommend both the black pig pork chop and the rabbit leg, and all the sides. We keep eyeing the delicious sounding desserts, but never have room after our mains!

Went with friends for the evening dining experience, food is delicious but way too pricy. Service was amazing. Unfortunately, the squid was not hot so I had to eat it quickly and didn't want to complaint as I was with my friends. The squid is delicious but it's serves with a cold sauce so stick to the proper hot food! My friends had the rabbit and yes it was hotter!

Este pub reconvertido se ha convertido en mi lugar favorito para comer en Kensington, y ha vencido a sus rivales con creces. El personal es excelente - amable, amable, informativo y hacer todo lo posible para hacer su experiencia agradable. El personal es la verdadera joya en este restaurante de joyas escondidas. La comida es fresca, cocinada a la prefectura y sabrosa. Me encanta que el menú es pequeño pero todos los platos cocinados bien. La comida compite con los restaurantes de guía Michelin locales de al lado. No podía culpar a este pub y no puedo esperar para volver de nuevo. The chicken curry and the sticky toffee pudding were great. The service very good. I'd recommend it.

Stopped in here after a day at the V/A. Nice atmosphere. Had a delicious fish pie and sticky toffee pudding.

Absolutely loved everything we ate. The sole meunière and chicken curry were standout dishes. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu!

A true london gem. An original gastropub ambiance with homely tasty classics oh so gently elevated and elegant. The most perfect parfait cette parfait! Arancini of cheesy decadence and a top drawer sunday roast. Pork was rich, soft tasty and with a spot on crackling top. Beef was sublimely rare silky and soft gravy not too rich. Then an array of light as air but delicious puds. The sticky toffee with clotted cream. The depth of the cream highlights that luscious and light! Sticky toffee pudding. Panna cotta with a superb wobble, then a perfectly poached pear- belle helenè. With absolutely chilled yet blithely professional service the Abingdon is one of the best. Thanks Amicia and the whole team for a lovely sunday voyage!

Don’t recommend. As requested, this is an update 2 our previous rev, Ab charged 2 cards+got cash, so 3x 4d same meal. They even tried 2deny d cash payt, conveniently ran out of paper. Got 0 but card insurances covered it. We requested SC paid in cash+ int incurred. They started haggling -not paid, they still owe us £64.71. You would think that they would pay to end semi-amicably but no. Instead Suki’s rude emails, more excuses/false pretences. charming no?

My husband and I had dinner here recently and it's still as good as ever. We ordered the pave steak for 2 and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender and the portion was generous. The chips here are the best that you'll find. The Abingdon's sticky toffee pudding is hands down the best, and again, a generous portion. The service, as always, is perfect. The staff are all very professional and friendly. This place is always busy so I would recommend booking. My review below still stands. The Best Gastro Pub in London I've been coming here regularly since it opened and have always had a lovely meal and a great time! Nice rooms, great staff and service and the best Sunday roast in town. The regular menu is great too, using well sourced and fresh ingredients cooked to order. As it's very popular would suggest booking a table beforehand.

Great place to hire for a function. We have supplied av equipment here for many of years now. Staff are always so helpful and friendly, nothing is ever a problem. Would highly recommend.

Amazing Sunday roast. Best I’ve had in London so far. Sticky toffee pudding was absolute perfection and not too heavy. Gorgeous interior, nice and cosy yet bright and airy. Good selection of wines and beers.

One of the best restaurants in London. Although it is not on the main street but easy to navigate via Google maps. Want to mention, that it was very hard to find British dishes on the menu. It was mixed with greek, british, italian. However the service was very nice and they tried to be very helpful. P.s They didn't suggest tap water instead gave bottled one which was not cheap.

Great food but we went at 9pm and some of the options weren’t available anymore

I had a fantastic late dinner at the Abingdon. I highly recommend the fish pie and the most delicious broccoli 🥦 (I love my greens, don’t judge me!). Also our waitress Lauren was personable, attentive, funny too. The bar is too crowded for my taste but I will come back to the restaurant for sure.

Came with impossibly high expectations for the Sole Meuniere and was not disappointed. Sheer perfection. Also the sticky toff was sublime.

RED FLAG- Fraud We were served by mangr (Jake?) When paying 4d bill he said 1st card failed, gave a reversal slip, 2nd card 2, then took CASH. After 1 month we see that the Abingdon has charged both cards. So 3x£. When I called, fobbed me off. Telephoned 4x. raised as fraud.

Fantastic local gastropub. The roast and sticky toffee pudding are amazing.

Very homely British gem in the corner of the street. Had the pork cheek and it was paradise. Would like to return and taste every dish on the menu. Sticky toffee pudding is a must have! Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff.

Very delicious meal. The sea bass was perfection.

Rich and filling braised meat (lamb?) and amazing polenta that was crisped around the edges so it finished as a toast / cornmeal. Really lovely.

The Abingdon is such a lovely local pub, a bit ladida but relaxed. And the service was superb! Luigi offered the best service to us and the guests around us. Absolutely attentive and charming!

The Abingdon is no ordinary corner pub with dingy corners and dated décor. Instead, you enter a revitalised space with lots of natural light and elements of modern design tastefully mixed with retro styles. There is a mixture of dining areas from old style timber booths, casual seating and more modern arrangements. There is a small amount of out door seating in the front of the pub. We spent some time deciding on our choices from the extensive lunch time menu. In the end we went with Artichoke & ricotta tortellini with fennel puree (£26.50), Black Pig Pork Chop, fries and bearnaise sauce (£26.00), and lastly the Chicken Caesar Salad with bacon (£17.50). The meals came out in reasonable time with our drinks, Pilsner and Chenin Blanc. Presentation of the main courses was pleasing, the aromas from the Pork and the tortellini were brilliant. The pork was well cooked, crisp and still crackling, the tortellini bursting with Mediterranean flavours and the Caesar salad refreshingly light. We decided to finish this great lunch with desert, Sticky Toffee pudding and Pannacotta, both up to the same high standard of the main course. The Bill came to £117.00, about the prices that you would expect in an up market venue in Kensington. We enjoyed the whole experience so price was not a factor. Would recommend this one. The Abington was a highlight of our visit to London. The service was impeccable and the entire staff was friendly and attentive. We had a group of 8 and selected a number of dishes and everyone raved. I had the chicken liver parfait, shared the pave steak and ended with the dark chocolate mousse. The wine list was not extensive but offered a well balanced selection from all over the world. I highly recommend

I have always liked this elegant and warm place. The people are regulars, friendly. The restaurant is cosy and the food is good.... I just love this place.

The sirloin steaks were dry and flavourless (only tasted of the grill) the potted crab starter was extremely fishy tasting and the £6.50 side salad was extremely overpriced. We felt rushed with service, however the bar is a nice ambience so sit at after dinner. I would perhaps return for some chips or pudding and cocktails at the bar but the food was overpriced for low quality and one of the worst steaks I have ever had.

Amazing pet friendly pub...food is amazing and the service is so nice and welcoming every time we go. One of the best pub in Kensington and definitely the best sticky toffee pudding of London!

Decent food, quaint atmosphere, and a standard British service (or lack thereof). Nothing to write home about, it's located in the Kensington area, and appears to be a solid choice if you're in the neighborhood, but otherwise I don't know if I would travel distances to be here.

One of my favourite gastro pubs in Kensington. Excellent ceasar salat, attentive service, nice atmosphere. Always pay them a visit when I'm London

Interesting design indoors with a bar area in front of you and restaurant seating down a long stretch at the side. 🍺 One tap selling Portobello London Pilsner. ℹ️ I asked for a half, and got served a 'two thirds'. They don't sell halves apparently. 🙋‍♂️ My view: this place is really a restaurant in a building that probably used to be a pub.

I have been a local and repeat customer of the Abingdon in W8 for 20 plus years now, but last night’s dining experience took things to a whole new level. It’s always been Uber good, but last night it was Amazing, and such good value, to boot. Great ambiance, efficient, friendly, service, and incredible food and drink - and in respect of every item consumed. My friend and I both enjoyed the Signature Manny Chicken Curry and Sticky Toffee pudding dessert, which were literally heaven sent. A huge thank you to Amicia and team! Caroline (W11)

What has happened to the usually dependably good Abingdon ? Lunch today was a pretty disappointing affair. Limited mains menu, poor quality hamburger (virtually no cheese, tasteless bun), even worse veggie burger, very average salmon pie. Apparently the regular chef has been replaced by a family member of the owners, according to the waiter. In fact even the waiting staff seem to be a bit more stressed and grumpy, whereas the friendly service before (last visit in the autumn) was guaranteed. The Abingdon needs to pull its socks up or it will lose its customers.

Very nice gastro pub with good attentive service, food was a bit random as there was too much variety so quite basic.

As young adults we were intrigued by the loud and funky music and attempted to become paying customers of this institution. Unfortunately we were met by staff that were inexplicably disrespectful and rude. Staff publicly humiliated me and chucked my ID onto the potentially busy road. Poor communication with customers and ALL staff came across as smug, arrogant, ageist and classist. Staff lacked any ounce of grace and decorum. 0/5 I will not be returning to 54 Abingdon Road, London, W8 6AP ever again.

Cozy neighborhood restaurant with impeccable service and Michelin-worthy dishes. I got here around 6 pm on a weekday and it was warm and quiet. Got much busier around 8 pm, but in a nice, sweet kind of way. The food was very well curated, each element in each dish serving a purpose. The sticky toffee pudding deserves to become cultural heritage (remember to get it with vanilla ice cream though!) Not a cheap restaurant for sure, but worth every penny and worth your while.

A homey gastropub with friendly staff and a good variety of British food. We shared the two person steak and had a generous serving of all the sauces to try. Dessert was a simple but delicious sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream. Prices are on the steeper side, but highly recommend and will definitely return. Perfect for all groups and families for a nice evening

An excellent menu taking a modern approach to British cuisine. Outstanding meal of Norfolk Guineafoul and squash risotto. Service was fantastic. Bar service and wine excellent. We are so pleased to have struck gold!

A very good meal. A host happy to talk through the menu and each course being quality without excess. Rounded off by a nice wine. Good atmosphere without pretensions.

We had a dinner reservation with a required card hold for the outside heated patio. Upon arrived they checked us in and said it would be just two minutes before they could seat us. We clarified our name and the reservation was for the heated patio. After waiting fifteen minutes we inquired if there was a problem with our table. They told us again they would seat us shortly. We waited again. We could see that their patio tables were occupied. Once the staff member finally came out to us with menus he asked us to follow him inside. We reminded him that our reservations for dinner were for the outside heated patio. He said he was sorry but because of short staff they wouldn't be serving food on the patio tonight, only indoors. Prior confirmed booking for the heated patio with a card held. Late seating, only to inform us we couldn't eat at the table that we had reserved. A big disappoint for the situation and for the lack of attentiveness by staff for our reservation.

Loved absolutely everything about this place! Comfy atmosphere, great service and absolutely fantastic food! Feta and spinach roll, sardine toast, fish pie, chicken liver pate all were 5s!!! But the toffy pudding… above and beyond. Seriously i would eat it every day! Definitely coming back next time im in the city.

What a lovely establishment..we dined at the Abingdon several years ago and were just blown away by the service, the food in general, and the most excellent sticky toffee pudding in the world. We are again visiting London , for the first time post-Covid, and while we don’t have a lot of time here, we wanted to return. Our only opportunity for dinner was last night, pre-Alfie Boe at Royal Albert Hall. Since dinner doesn’t start until 6:00, we had to squeeze in what we could (including the sticky toffee pudding!) before we had to leave for the Hall. We arrived a bit before 6, got drinks at the bar, and the waitstaff were just excellent, seating us promptly and recommending “quick” entrees that would give us time for … The food is excellent and the service is great. And they do have the BEST sticky toffee pudding!

We very much enjoyed our meal here. The quality of the food was quite high and reasonably priced. I loved the guinea fowl and my hot apple tart was one of the best I’ve had in a restaurant in quite some time. The atmosphere is cozy and feels both like a neighborhood place but also an elevated restaurant.

Food is good, however, the service is not that great. The food took a very long time for it to arrive and then shortly after, our waiter had the nerve to tell us they were going to need our table soon leaving us feel rushed out. We would’ve left earlier had the food not taken so long to get to our table. Needless to say we left super annoyed.

We had dinner here pre- and post-marathon. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly. Food was creative and super tasty. Un-standard fare, very original and un-like any current food fashion. The sardines on toast with pickled tomatoes and watercress creme fraiche were spot on, the sweet potatoes with lime and coconut and pakoras so original and tasty, and the wild rabbit papardelle heavenly. The kind of dishes that you want to retry making yourself at home!

It’s a beautiful resto pub in a beautiful place, excellent uncommon food and good and kind service, but a bit too noisy. It’s not the first time we go there and the experience it has been always positive.

I came here for the sticky toffee pudding. It’s sweet and heavy but the clotted cream balances the sweetness and I love anything with clotted cream! Delicious and definitely the plate must be shared because it’s very filling. £9.50 + They open 6pm for dinner service. The seating outside when the weather is good is lovely- quiet street and enjoyable people watching. Basic service, no napkin or water offered. Bathrooms in the basement are clean.

We go there quite often as we live around the corner. The food and drinks are good, don’t get me wrong. If you booked a table you will have a great experience for most of the time. Three stars for front of house/manager for managing tables outside: if you came in without a booking and you see a free table, you are not allowed to occupy it as “it is reserved”. Doesn’t matter for what time, they won’t allow to occupy it. Standard occurrence when we come and try to sit down on an empty table, they say no. Two hours later, the table is still empty, this is very baffling. We even stood next to a table and asked multiple times if we could sit down and heard multiple refusals by saying it is booked. Just let people use the tables if they are free, like in every decent place.

Always lovely to return to the Abingdon thanks to the exceptionally warm welcome, great food and lovely staff. The staff really do go the extra mile and are always super friendly and attentive - service is 5*!!! The food was also cooked to perfection and we enjoyed the vegetarian and fish dishes - delicious!. Extra special thanks to Fran our lovely waitress who made the evening so much fun! Can't wait to return!! Kevin and Richard

Absolutely lovely meal here and fabulous staff. Enjoyed a dinner outside on a Monday. Fit me into a full schedule. Everyone accommodating, helpful, and friendly. Great spot for a dinner / date night.

Hosted my Mums 70tg birthday party here , it was fantastic! The only place I could find to book a table outside for 10 people in West London. Service and food really good and the perfect quiet street in Kensington to celebrate alfresco in the city!
