It came nice and hot, as in very recently cooked and not cooled down much, and was bang on time.
Almost the nicest Calzone I've had, made from proper dough and topped with cheese which was a nice touch, I've had these at other take aways and they've been done with pie crust rather than actual pizza dough?!
The inside was just right, not soft and chewy or dripping liquid out of it, it was even cut up for me, the only ones I've had better are my own home made ones, because I can use fillings more specific to the things I like, whilst being a bit healthy.
One thing that could have been better, there was no grease proof paper under it, so it had a soggy bottom, meaning I couldn't put the box down on the table like you normally would have, but a quick use of the plastic bag the sauce came in soon sorted it out, not a big deal, but I'm puzzled why it didn't have the paper in there to begin with.
So on the whole, all things considered, probably an 8.5 out of 10, and I don't give high scores freely for anyone hat knows my food reviews.
Lastly on a note, the driver didn't adhere to ANY covid regs, so because of that I've given the Service Score a minimum as there was no care for the customer in that regard.
Booked for Easter Sunday lunch . Arrived slightly early and welcomed by friendly staff
Taken to our table and decided to order the roast before
Good meal lovely Yorkshire’s and well cooked veg
Pub garden looked nice but the weather wasn’t good enough
Recommend for Sunday lunch
Been meaning to go here for a long time and so glad we finally made it! It’s a delightful restaurant with super friendly staff. As for the food… well it was great and this place deserves its reputation. The prices we felt were reasonable, remember fresh fish and seafood isn’t a factory farmed commodity!! We can’t wait to go back soon… my only recommendation is book first, we walked in and were lucky!! Glad we did..!! Enjoy…
Whole family loves the PP. We live close by and the food, drink and service is always good. Looking forward to spending more time here in the summer months.
Undoubtedly the best fish and chips in the area…and all served with a smile, whats not to like!!! Will definitely be back whenever we want fish and chips!
Lovely surroundings and a beautiful building. Excellent food, albeit a bit expensive. Assuming you can get a table, it's always a pleasant meal. I still wish they'd allow bookings, even if a deposit was required, but they prefer not to.
Update: We had a family birthday meal here recently (early May 2025) and were disappointed that the relatively-affordable steak (~£25) is no longer available, the cheapest now being about £40! And we found the chips far too salty, even after trying to brush salt off! We all had the burger, which was excellent, and the staff were as good as always.
Great little find when we were visiting Woodbridge. Staff were great from start to finish. The manager Kat was super friendly as was jimmy our server. They both took time to chat with us and even kept the little one entertained. Food was pipping hot and really tasty.
Just a lite bite but excellent choices and good beers. service was very good and staff polite and knowledgeable spot on plenty of space inside on a warm sunny day
A superb 2 night stay on a half board basis. The hosts Neil and Gill, as well as all the staff, were most welcoming. Our room, No. 4, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. You could not fault the food. It was tasty, served piping hot when needed to be and nicely presented. We will return.
We are locals and this is our favourite pub. We moved to Suffolk 5 years ago and they have always made us feel so welcome.
All the staff work so hard and are so friendly .The home cooked food is gorgeous and always so fresh. The pan fried chicken is absolutely amazing. They also host charity nights which are great fun. If you want a cosy friendly Suffolk pub with superb food, give The Golden Key a try .
Waited an hour and 15 mins for our breakfast. It was busy, but it seemed like the chef must have been cooking one table at a time. When it arrived it was no better than a typical greasy spoon on the high street. I'm no food conseseur, but the avocado and poached eggs on toast was completely tasteless with zero seasoning. Considering the eggs are local they were also tasteless and just tasted of the water from poaching. The veggie breakfast is also just a regular breakfast minus the meat - no substitute, which you'd expect 20 years ago but these days a veggie sausage wouldn't go a miss. Very disappointed.
